WIP NOT-WEDNESDAY AKA. THE THING IM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT
i am literally vibrating with a need to post this, so have a snippet. I really, really hope people like it because it's my return to loveable, silly Tarlos and I really love how it turned out. Thanks @rmd-writes for the tag!
Carlos knows about TikTok, of course. He might be the oldest twenty-nine year old ever (according to Marjan) or an elderly man stuck in a young, hot body (according to Nancy), but he’s well aware of the social media platform that’s inundated with short videos and the same automated voiceover that makes him want to fling himself off the nearest building. He hates TikTok with a burning passion – not that he’s ever had an account – and doesn’t shy away from expressing that opinion whenever he has to do one of those cyber security school incursions.
He knows TK downloaded TikTok once, specifically to watch a dog video on repeat, but then he got stuck on it for days and days until Carlos insisted that he delete it. The app is a nightmare for productivity, and a wasteland of vulnerable metadata, and Carlos won’t be engaging with any of that. Instagram reels are bad enough.
He doesn’t click on the link anyway – it can’t be that important – until he gets home and sees TK sitting on the kitchen counter waiting for him.
“Have you been on the internet today?” he asks, by way of greeting.
“Have you left the house today?” Carlos counters, running his eyes over the AFD t-shirt that TK is still wearing, and the pants he is still not wearing. “Or taken a shower?”
“Of course,” TK scoffs, rolling his eyes. “This is a different pair of underwear. I didn’t leave the loft though, because it’s my day off and I’m allowed to do whatever I want. And if what I want to do all day is eat toast and jerk off to videos of my hot as hell fiancé on TikTok, I’m going to do that.”
“Did you at least use a plate this time— Wait. What?”
TK gives him a look that can only be described as gleeful, and Carlos’ stomach sinks. “TikTok,” TK says, sliding off the counter and slipping his hands into the back pocket of Carlos’ jeans. “Yep,” he adds, making an appreciative noise in the back of his throat, “your ass really is that perfect.”
“TK,” Carlos asks, feeling a bit stricken, and stepping back as he remembers that, in the confusion over TikTok, he’s forgotten to lock up his firearm. “What the hell are you talking about?”

I’m not new to the 911 fandom, this is my third, if we don’t count 2020 winter hiatus, and it was never so calm, just think about last year the billions ff, and fan videos about eddie leaving, or the multitude of buddie Christmas ff, now everything is almost silent. We can say 911 it’s not the buddie show, and it’s true, but buddie was a very strong driving force to watch it, with the almost 0 scenes of 6a, a lot of people re just leaving

It's not the Buddie show (but Tim wants to make LS the T-rlos show, LOL), but there's no denying that the Buddie fandom is what keeps the conversation going on social media - and Tim knows that, because after s4 he admitted he wanted the shooting scene to be something fans couldn't stop talking about.
There's only so much speculation that can be done when we're given so little to work with, and personally, I think it's gotten to a point where people (even the ones who tried to stay optimistic) are tired of reading/hearing about how a story line *could* play out when we've seen time and again that the show very rarely devotes the kind of attention to Buddie we expect in the aftermath of something important for those two as friends and potential romantic partners.
Idk what the show is doing with Buddie right now, but it's still not a slow burn. Two characters not speaking to each other unless it's necessary and not about anything personal is not the recipe for romance in the fifth season. Had those guys spoken to others/been called out by others for obvious "issues" with their dynamic, there would be cause to celebrate because at least we're in the know on why they're acting different, but opting not to do even that tells me the plan (if there is one) isn't up to the level of fandom's expectations.
The way this show operates...we're more likely to get two or three episodes "hinting at" something more and then, oh, hey, look who's dating now.

there are some rumours right now about sierra not coming back for the next season and i am basically 100% sure (even tho you never know with ls) that those are not true mainly bc it appears that those rumours only exist bc she hasn't been in any of the bts that has been shared which?? most of it has been at the firehouse or at rescues like duh obviously she isn't in those the same way rafael isn't in those and it doesn't mean he isn't in the new season either. plus sierra isn't super active on social media, rarely has scenes with the others who do share stuff and if they're filming grace/judd scenes obviously jim isn't on social media at all so he couldn't share anything either. ANYWAYS all that to ask you if (and this is a big hypothetical IF) grace really wouldn't be coming back what do you think would be the reason they go with in the show?
People will create rumors out of absolutely nowhere sometimes won't they 🙄 But completely hypothetically ... I guess maybe if Judd doesn't return to being a firefighter (I think he will, but if he didn't), maybe the two of them could move somewhere because of something to do with Wyatt? If there's like a better treatment facility for him in a different city, I can see them relocating. Grace could be a 911 dispatcher from anywhere.

I lived through the Supernatural Destiel moment and while 911 feels different (because it’s not as big and the actors don’t do conventions and stuff), and I would’ve never called the show queerbaity at all… I am slightly nervous it’ll get to that same queer bait level.
I saw posts about one of the crew members (the cinematographer?) Joaquin who said things like “You got us” about the same type of shirt that Buck and Eddie were wearing, and him “giggling” at Buddie speculation.
The “you got us” to me could technically be taken innocently as him saying “you got us, we did put them in a similar shirt! Good eyes!” But not having any other meaning behind it.
But the fact that he knows people are using it as a Buck x Eddie thing makes it feel a little icky if he knows 100% that the shirt means nothing and Buddie canon isn’t even thought about by the crew.
Same with the sticker on the clapboard/slate. They know what will get them trending and make people react and I just don’t want them to use hopeful fans for social media clot.
The writers have a great opportunity for something awesome. And as much as I want it to happen and I could see how easily it could happen because they literally set it up to happen, I don’t know if the show will be brave enough to have 2 shows (og + spin-off) with no “young, hot, straight, single, classically stereotypically male” characters, since everyone besides Rob Lowe on LS is in a relationship or going to be, and if Buddie goes canon, I think Fox thinks it would lose demographic ratings.
This was more negative than I wanted it to be😂 I just think the writers have set it up so Buddie is the only way, but the more I hope the more terrified I am🤡🤡🤡

I've been thinking a lot about this the last couple days and the hateful and nasty comments Rafa has received as well.
I like that Tim stood up for himself and everyone else who works so hard to make 911 LS happen for us.
In particular, I like that he pointed out that the marriage truly was not something ever thought about much by Carlos or Iris after they gave it an original shot. It seems to me that a lot of fans have been projecting more meaning onto the marriage than was ever there.
In some ways, it's a good thing that there are so many people now who can't even imagine why a gay man would marry a woman. Or how a marriage could be virtually meaningless to the parties involved. It means that more people are now able to marry the people they love.
Unfortunately in this case it means a lot of people didn't understand. Tim is almost 60. He very much remembers a time when so many more LGBTQIA+ people had to be closeted and for most of his life same sex marriage wasn't a possibility. So what seems obvious to him and some fans doesn't seem obvious to others. Maybe it would have been good for the show to do a little showing instead of telling around the whole "in name only" stuff.
Tim wrote this with the expectation that everyone else is going into it with the same knowledge he has (This is not a knock on Tim at all. When the storyline first came out, it took me awhile to realize why some people didn't get it).
All this to say, I think more thought should have been put into how they told the story, especially since the show has a lot of younger fans (not a knock on younger fans; it's just that they may be less likely to understand the concept of Carlos and Iris's marriage because their lived experience has been different).
But at the same time, I don't think it's a nice thing to do to go on Tim's fb, Rafa's IG, etc etc and complain to them. Obviously it's social media so people can do what they want, but for me, I liken it to leaving critical or mean comments on someone's fic or art. I personally think it's unnecessary in most cases to tell people you don't like their work.
AND it would be great if we could talk about this without just screaming over each other. Everyone's opinions are valid, but sometimes it helps to listen to other people's opinions to understand where they are coming from, whether or not you agree.

Thinking back on the fandom now, I gotta say that I’m very grateful to the people I follow. Maybe Tumblr in general. All the hate that Rafa and Tim are responding to... I haven’t seen it.
People (including me) are angry and that’s fine. I see things I don’t agree with... also fine. But I haven’t seen a lot of toxicity. Maybe it’s because people are editing asks and I don’t go into the fandom tag but either way, thank you.
It’s not been pleasant but this storyline does not warrant sending hate to the cast and crew. That’s what fandom is for.

Me, to whoever unironically believing that: Kristen Reidel and Buck's cheating/sperm donor drama hello? Anyone?
She's picked as the co-showrunner because Tim likes her brand of drama the most. Why haven't people realized that? Is being a "911 writers' stan" cloud the judgment so much?
I don't think it's about "stanning" a show runner as much as it is wanting or trying to promote the belief that their choices have a purpose that matches the fandom's, especially when a lot of the activity in this space comes from people who write fics and paragraphs worth of analysis and speculation. If Tim was still dividing his time between both shows or there was no spinoff, you wouldn't see the "good riddance" reaction going around since s4 of LS started. They'd *have* to put their faith in him because there would be no backup plan.
This is evident in the "defense" of the two story lines you mentioned.
Buck cheating was (from a fandom POV) supposed to spell the downfall of BT.
It did not.
It was also supposed to be an indication of Buck's "regression" and inevitable breakdown.
It was neither of those things. Mainly because Eddie's breakdown followed immediately after and Buck had to be on his best behavior to care for Chris/offer Eddie emotional support.
Now that the arc is closed, nobody brings it up because it added nothing to his story. BT broke up because TayKay's work got in the way, giving people the excuse to harp on about terrible they were together or she was as a person. (We were never supposed to like her for him or them together. Maaaaybe if the fandom wasn't celebrating her #charactergrowth in s4 and pushing the idea that she would stay on as a platonic friend, the trajectory of the relationship could have gone differently, but alas. They were duped.)
With the sperm donor arc, the initial thought process (my preferred outcome, obv) was that Buck wouldn't actually go through with it because he'd realize he isn't built for not being a constant presence in his bio kid's life. And for the bloggers who think they know everything, it doesn't make sense if canon!Buddie isn't the outcome. (A lot less likely now that the spotlight is on another couple. Can't have social media talking about Buddie and Buddie only.)
Making a rash decision, but then having the universe "scream" via failed donor attempts or having Buck speak to someone from his family about the mistake he'd be making and then he realizes he shouldn't do it, would have been a good story, absolutely. Stop doing things for other people, Buck! Do them for you! Because you understand your worth now!
But here we are months later and:
- His attempt at helping make a baby was successful, and proven successful in the 6A finale, meaning we're nowhere near the end.
- The show runner was already talking about the impending birth in her s5 post-mortem interviews. Unless it turns out that Connor was able to impregnate his wife (still rooting for this no matter how unlikely, especially when the reaction could have changed what was meant to happen down the line) there's gonna be a kid, and it will be biologically Buck's.
IMO, the people who will still "applaud" the story line if it turns out Buck has a kid out there somewhere are the ones who want to see him with his "own family" because Chris isn't actually his. (Apparently "the family we chose" doesn't apply when there's an option for Big Man, Tiny Baby? Okay.)
But to everyone else? RED FLAG.
Kristen would not create a fictional child just to never bring it up again. It's easy drama. Also, the audience is going to know that Buck has someone else with his DNA. They are going to be thought of as "his kid", not Christopher, until canon says otherwise. It's a way to appease a certain part of the base in the event that Buddie goes canon because at least he got to have one of his own, right? And honestly, it works in the opposite scenario - Buddie remaining friends throughout - because TPTB have no way of knowing how long OG will run for or how long OS will stick around. If Buck gets a LI that's not Eddie, there may not be time for a pregnancy plot.
