HP’s new 5K ultrawide AIO PC is featured packed, can be upgraded to powerful specs
The all-in-a single Computer market place has appeared somewhat bleak as of late, with pretty couple of thrilling releases in the past few of yrs. This has turn out to be even far more clear following Apple’s discontinuation of their 27-inch all-in-just one 5K iMac. HP seemingly discovered that opening and has declared a new all-in-one aimed at industry experts geared up with a 21:9 IPS screen display screen with a gorgeous 5120×2160 resolution and assist for hundreds of energy and efficiency if the person so chooses.
HP’s all-in-one particular will support up to an Intel Core i9-12900, Nvidia’s RTX 3060, 4 TB of NVMe M.2 storage, and 128GB of RAM. As envisioned, these are optional updates, and do not depict the base product or service or its base value. HP also notes that end users can effortlessly update the storage and the RAM on their very own, ought to they uncover it important.
A crucial attribute of this AIO are two bundled 16-megapixel magnetic webcams, and you may well question, why are there two webcams incorporated? HP is trying to drive this all-in-one particular as a get the job done-oriented personal computer, with a person webcam concentrated on the user’s face, and the other concentrated on products, files, and so forth.
The webcams can also make use of AI characteristics, like vehicle-cropping or noise-reduction on the integrated microphones. Of class, the whole thought that the cameras are magnetic means they can be connected any where on the display’s bezel.
I/O ports on the back again include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, 4 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Kind-A ports, an ethernet port, an HDMI 2.1 output, and a 3.5mm combo jack. The stand alone contains two USB Type-A ports, a USB Form-C port, and an SD card reader, and the foundation of the stand has also built-in a 15W Qi wi-fi charger.
For now HP has soft launched the method and pre-orders are not still accessible. The  HP 34-inch All-in-One particular Desktop Computer system  is slated for release in September with a commencing cost of $2,119. The foundation model will be powered by an Intel Main i5-12500 and an RTX 3050.

Prores Codec For Mac
Tumblr media
ProRes has gained in popularity as an intermediate codec. In this post we share tips for using ProRes in your video workflow.

Codec For Quicktime
Created to transform the workflow for film and video professionals, Afterburner accelerates ProRes and ProRes RAW video codecs in Final Cut Pro X, QuickTime Player X, and supported third-party applications. A PCI Express card exclusively for Mac Pro, Afterburner can be installed in any full-length slot, but it delivers maximum capability in a PCIe x16 slot. This update adds the following video codecs for use by QuickTime-based applications: Apple Intermediate Codec Apple ProRes AVC-Intra DVCPRO HD HDV XDCAM HD / EX / HD422 MPEG IMX Uncompressed 4:2:2. Regardless of whether Apple is planning to release a new Mac Pro to market, the need for a cross-platform codec is growing. It will either be filled by a hacked version of ProRes, DNxHR, VC-5 or an official Apple ProRes encoder for Windows.
Prores Codec For Windows
Jan 31, 2020 When you use ProRes RAW with Final Cut Pro, you get the same real-time, multistream video editing performance you experience with Apple ProRes RAW as you do with standard media. And with the Mac Pro (2019), the Afterburner card accelerates decoding and playback of multiple streams of ProRes and Pro Res RAW video files for even better performance.
When I began my career I was editing a lot of video in Final Cut 7, so ProRes naturally was my best friend. When I made the brief jump to Avid and then quickly turned to Premiere Pro, ProRes came along for the ride. With more and more high-end cameras shooting RAW and programs like Premiere having the ability to read those RAW files natively, as of late ProRes has been dwindling within my workflow. However, if you’re shooting a project with a short turnaround time, you can’t go wrong with ProRes.
1. Know Your Formats
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are a total of six ProRes formats. These formats range from extreme compression to minimal compression rates. It’s important to note that each ProRes format supports all of the current frame sizes such as SD, HD, 2K, 4K & 5K. So lets take a quick look at each codec and the data rate specs for each frame size.
Frame DimensionsFrame RateProRes 4444ProRes 422 (HQ)ProRes 422ProRes 422 (LT)ProRes 422 (Proxy)720 x 48623.98 fps75 Mbps50 Mbps34 Mbps23 Mbps10 Mbps720 x 48625 fps79 Mbps52 Mbps35 Mbps24 Mbps10 Mbps720 x 48629.97 fps94 Mbps63 Mbps42 Mbps29 Mbps12 Mbps720 x 57623.98 fps88 Mbps59 Mbps39 Mbps27 Mbps12 Mbps720 x 57625 fps92 Mbps61 Mbps41 Mbps28 Mbps12 Mbps720 x 57629.97 fps110 Mbps73 Mbps49 Mbps34 Mbps15 Mbps960 x 72023.98 fps113 Mbps75 Mbps50 Mbps35 Mbps15 Mbps960 x 72025 fps118 Mbps79 Mbps52 Mbps36 Mbps16 Mbps960 x 72029.97 fps141 Mbps94 Mbps63 Mbps44 Mbps19 Mbps1280 x 72023.98 fps132 Mbps88 Mbps59 Mbps41 Mbps18 Mbps1280 x 72025 fps138 Mbps92 Mbps61 Mbps42 Mbps19 Mbps1280 x 72029.97 fps165 Mbps110 Mbps73 Mbps51 Mbps23 Mbps1440 x 108023.98 fps226 Mbps151 Mbps101 Mbps70 Mbps31 Mbps1440 x 108025 fps236 Mbps157 Mbps105 Mbps73 Mbps32 Mbps1440 x 108029.97 fps283 Mbps189 Mbps126 Mbps87 Mbps38 Mbps1920 x 108023.98 fps264 Mbps176 Mbps117 Mbps82 Mbps36 Mbps1920 x 108025 fps275 Mbps184 Mbps122 Mbps85 Mbps38 Mbps1920 x 108029.97 fps330 Mbps220 Mbps147 Mbps102 Mbps45 Mbps2048 x 115223.98 fps302 Mbps201 Mbps134 Mbps93 Mbps41 Mbps2048 x 115225 fps315 Mbps210 Mbps140 Mbps97 Mbps43 Mbps2048 x 115229.97 fps377 Mbps251 Mbps168 Mbps116 Mbps52 Mbps
2. Encoding with Variable Bitrate
Variable Bitrate (VBR) allows ProRes to be economical with video storage, without damaging the visuals. This type of damage will sometimes occur when max bitrate is exceeded with codecs that are fixed. So for instance, if we encode an action sequence, ProRes can use a higher data rate which will ensure that image loss is negated and the detail of the video remains. Then say, we have a simple two-shot dialogue sequence. ProRes reallocates only the bitrate needed. Being able to vary bitrate based on the material is pretty impressive.
Tumblr media
3. Question of Storage and RAW Usage
Tumblr media
While ProRes is a larger file size than H.264, it falls well short of the storage cost of RAW formats such as RED RAW. With that said, for most video professionals ProRes is the codec of choice for any work relating to a project that needs a quick turnaround time.
However, many professionals agree that if you are working on a project where more time can be devoted to the project, you’ll want to go with RAW. Even though ProRes 4444 retains a wealth of image information, this data is still far less than what you get with RAW.
RAW assures you that you are getting the least compression. I’ve found that by using RED RAW over ProRes I have far more flexibility in post. If not much time can be devoted to post, then I’ll transcode to ProRes 422 in order to speed up my editing process. Working with RAW 4K footage can be taxing on your editing system. Need for speed underground 2 2004 mach 1.

Here is a nice video comparison of ProRes going head to head with CinemaDNG through a Blackmagic Cinema Camera (video by Tom Majerski):
4. You Can Edit Outside of Final Cut Pro X
Playback Prores Codec Windows 10
While this seems like a no-brainer it’s a misconception that I’ve found with quite a few inexperienced video producers and filmmakers. I’ve heard “I thought you could only use ProRes in Final Cut” a few more times than I care to admit. ProRes is supported by all of the major editing softwares such as Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer & Lightworks.
Avi Codec For Mac Downloads
5. ProRes is a 10-bit Codec
The basic train of thought is the higher the bit number, the higher the quality of the video. Bits give us an idea on how many colors are being captured during filming (for most DSLRs you’ll be capturing 8-bit video). But ProRes is a 10 bit codec, so that means it can process a lot more color data. It’s a good rule of thumb that even if you capture 8-bit video using a DSLR (like a Canon 5D Mark III), you can convert that to ProRes and take advantage of the 10 bit encoding, which can make the color correction process easier.
The folks at Atomos put it like this:
Prores Codecs For Mac
Even if your camera only outputs 8 bit video, it’s still better to work with a 10 bit codec, because all subsequent editing and processing will be done at the higher resolution. Imagine, even if your original was only 8 bit, adding a subtle colour tint. If you did that at only 8 bit resolution, you’d be adding contours to contours, whereas with 10 bit per channel resolution, you’ll get a much smoother effect. The bottom line is that it’s much better to work at 10 bit resolution than 8 bit, whatever the source of your video.

Goals are: read forty-five new books this year (34 so far!), finish six video games (2 so far!), write either 30 fics or 70k total, finish the damn Sabriel AU (not so much), and write something original.

take the stage and deliver by mothwrites | Wolf 359 | Jacobi/Kepler | 3k | “Why me?” Jacobi asked.“You’re just his type,” Cutter said. “He’ll never see it coming.”
push to the limit by gortysproject | Wolf 359 | Jacobi/Kepler | 10k | five times kepler asks too much of jacobi, and one time jacobi can't pull through for him.
you be the motor, I'll be the gasoline by crookedfingers | Wolf 359 | Jacobi/Kepler | 5k | The hold music begins before Jacobi can finish his sentence. He blinks at the far wall and then glances at a clock. He’ll give it thirty seconds before he hangs up.Then the music stops jarringly mid-note and someone says, “Thank you so much for your patience. I understand that you’re seeking career opportunities with Goddard Futuristics.”
life 2.0 by goldtreesilvertree, mothwrites | Wolf 359 | Jacobi/Eiffel | 5k | "Alright... Daniel. Why are we having a movie night?" Minkowski never seemed the type to be into movie nights, and Hera probably doesn't get the point. He's beginning to get the feeling this will be the first movie night Eiffel 2.0 is going to remember, and he doesn't know if that's a good thing."Because," Daniel says, passing him a DVD so he has to get up again, "I really want to watch this, and my usual movie-buddy is dead. My backup movie-buddy is also dead. Any further questions?"
'til your heart goes numb by LuckyDiceKirby | The Bright Sessions | Mark/Damien | 1k |  Instead of going out and getting drunk with Rose, Mark goes for a drive.
black sheep and mischief by grim_lupine | Thor | Thor & Loki | 3k | A bird alights on Thor’s shoulder and pecks his cheek twice, hard enough to make him wince.“What are you doing?” it warbles in his ear.“Wondering what my brother is doing up at this hour, little bird,” Thor replies. “Will you go ask him for me?”
(Lines on Palms by Fahye | Captive Prince | Damen/Laurent | 35k | "You're lying," Damen says. "You walked into Akielos and stole something from me.")**
On Tilt by 13th_blackbird | Solo | Han/Lando | 3k |  “You want to play?” Han says, nodding at the cards, before he can think better of it. “Or are you just showing off?”
tell me, get my shit together by paperclipbitch | Solo | Han/Lando | 5k | “I thought we were actively avoiding each other after the Trandosha Shitshow,” Han says.“We’re actively avoiding each other after the Iridonia Shitshow,” Lando corrects him, “the Trandosha Shitshow is That Which We Do Not Speak Of.”
Make Me Feel by Copper_Nails (Her_Madjesty) | Solo | Han/Lando | 2k | Winning the Falcon back is supposed to fill the empty space beneath his ribs. Han told himself this the whole way to Lando, tells it to himself again, now: it’s immensely satisfying to stare up at the ship’s sleek (battered) lines, so he can stop thinking about Crimson Dawn, thanks; can stop thinking about Beckett on the cliffside and Qi’ra, fading like a star in the morning.
Proving It by sailingonstardust | Solo | Han/Lando | 1.5k |  “You know,” Lando interrupts Han in the middle of a story about a seedy club and two twi’leks, “you can talk, and talk, and talk, but I don’t believe half the things you’re saying for even a second.”
one night on the falcon by topaz | Solo | Han/Lando | 3k |  If Han was the kind of guy who thought about things like this, the idea of fucking Lando Calrissian in the ship he'd used to own would have fallen somewhere on the Cool side of the prospective ideas spectrum, probably shading to the Not really likely to happen but still fun to think about group.
A Cornstalk Fiddle by notbecauseofvictories | Devil Went Down to Georgia | Devil/Johnny | 9k+ |  Where Johnny goes, the Devil follows; where Johnny goes, the Devil is already there.
The Beginning After the End by notbecauseofvictories | Star Wars | Padme & Obi-Wan | 7k |  Padmé wakes to the back of Obi-Wan’s head, his hair mussed and his arms spread, outstretched over her knees as though to shield her from all that would come.
( Stargazers by Ruby_Wednesday | Captive Prince | Laurent/Damen | 90k | Five years after the Truce of Marlas, Damen and Laurent meet again in Delpha. They're forced to work together to soothe the growing tension between their countries. But Laurent does not forgive easily and Damen's not that sorry.)
( One the Other by Ruby_Wednesday | Captive Prince | Laurent/Damen | 200k |  Marlas goes badly for Damen. He goes back to Ios with Laurent as his reluctant ward.)
July
Any More Obvious by idiopathicsmile | Les Mis | Eponine/Cosette | 2k | “Look, folks,” says Musichetta, ten minutes from the end of cheer practice, “we have an audience. A spooky audience.”
speak in tongues by SpineAndSpite | Yuri On Ice | Yuri/Otabek | 7k | The last time Yuri went sightseeing with Otabek it had been the middle of winter, and he only had breath to contemplate the speed of the bike and the warmth of Otabek through his jacket. A crowded bus is a far cry, but he still has the same feeling of displacement--of not knowing what will happen next.
cherry pie by brawlite, ToAStranger | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 133k | Billy Hargrove lives for summer. Endless sunshine, heavily chlorinated pools, roaming ice cream trucks, and unencumbered freedom? There’s nothing better.**
(you hate me) cause i got what you need by brawlite, ToAStranger | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 6k | “You smell like coconuts,” Billy murmurs. “Like the ocean, too.”
Draconia by perceived_nobility | The Bright Sessions | Damien/Mark | 4k | "So I was driving. One ex wife and one ex husband later, stopping at the same fucking gas stations you and I stopped at."
untalked of and unseen by prouvairing | If We Were Villains | James/Oliver | 5k | Four times Oliver and James slept together, and one time they didn’t. Not exactly in that order.
Swipe right by mee4ever | HP | Draco/Harry | 2k | Or then one where Harry swipes right, and it turns out Draco does too.
The Truth by mee4ever | HP | Draco/Harry | 4k | Or the one where Harry is too bloody thick to see the truth, even when it's staring him in the face.

Victory Condition by astolat | Transformers | Megatron/Optimus | 39k | “Do you want me to tell you a story?” Megatron said mockingly. “You won’t like it, Prime. It’s not a very nice one.”
chases, escapes, true love, miracles by pepperfield | The Flash | Cisco/Harry | 55k | Just because the timeline has been restored, doesn't mean things are back to normal. Cisco's got 99 problems, and Harry Wells is approximately 38 of them.
Turn by Ever-so-reylo (Ever_So_Reylo) | Star Wars | Reylo | 9k |  I would kill for you, he thinks at her, inside her, and this is the result of what they just did, the culmination of all of their history together. I would destroy the entire galaxy for this.
You should see the things we do by Ever-so-reylo (Ever_So_Reylo) | SW | Reylo | 13k | “Maybe Ben will come home from his business trip and bend me over the nearest piece of furniture and fuck me hard and fast.”
Your Pretty Little Heart by Ever-so-reylo (Ever_So_Reylo) | SW | Reylo | 64k |  “Good. Good little Omega.” He says the words against her gland, almost sweetly, and Rey—Rey is going to die. A wonderful, delicious death. Depraved, all of this. Filthy. Beautiful.
✓✓ Read by Boyue | South Park | Kyle/Stan | 65k | AKA how Stan Marsh met Kyle Broflovski through a dick pic mishap.
Pretend There Is No Wreck by LuckyDiceKirby | The Flash | Harrisco | 11k | Cisco and Harry figure out how to not kill each other, and also maybe how to talk about their feelings.
the cure by aquaexplicit | The Flash | Harrisco | 43k | “I guess I don’t really get what you need to fix? Harrison Wells is a hot, rich genius that pays you to make cool stuff with his daughter and is totally into you. If you guys boning is the biggest problem you have, I think this officially qualifies as your best relationship ever.”
and everything nice by perzimon | Voltron | Sheith | 5k | when he's beautiful and you love him but he can't make toast, the fic
hello, i love you, won't you tell me your name by perzimon | Voltron | Sheith | 12k | Keith's human enough to have wisdom teeth and unlucky enough to need them extracted. The team despairs.
Unexpected Developments by mific | SGA | McShep | 14k | Detective John Sheppard after Vegas (S5E19). His near-fatal wound's slowly healing and he's got his old job back, but then someone turns up unexpectedly who's a greater mystery than any of the cases on John's desk, and John has to make some hard choices.

called out your name (but it was too late) by arahir | Voltron | Sheith, Griffin/Keith | 5k | Walk into the Garrison like—wait, what the fuck, is that Keith? Or: an old classmate watches Keith fall in love with someone else.

songs about love by sarahyyy | YOI | Yuri/Otabek | 8k | In the embedded Instagram photo just under that subheading, a very grumpy Yuri is cuddling a very grumpy-looking cat. The caption reads: I found the cat version of me at the shelter today. #iknowisaidnomorecats #canyoublameme
Between the Lines by Dementordelta | Harry Potter | Snarry | 22k | Harry discovers a secret in his Potions text and a friend in the Half-Blood Prince.
More Than Gravity by JenTheSweetie | Marvel | Stony | 20k | “Aw, time travel, no.”On Christmas Eve, Tony came unstuck in time.
Of an Arcane Binding by Salvia_G | The Hobbit | Thilbo | 44k | An inexplicable magic ties Bilbo Baggins, hobbit of the Shire, to Thorin, dwarven prince of Erebor.
Back and Forth by kiyala | Yuri On Ice | Yuri/Otabek | 4k | Yuri convinces Otabek to get snapchat, just to send selfies of himself making faces at Victor and Yuuri. He gets more than he expected.
your tongue is sharp, but i miss the taste of it by thecopperkid | Stranger Things | Harringrove | 7k | Billy had one job -- don't take off the scarf. / Science is probably not Steve's strong suit, but he's really trying to make sense of why Billy's suddenly found him so appealing.
Things Already Said by balloonwhisk | The Bright Sessions | Damien/Mark | 4k | Damien gets a not entirely unwelcome early morning surprise.
Wreak Havoc by myfandomsareinfinite | EOS 10 | Ryan/Akmazian | 8k | Five Times Ryan Dalias Saved Akmazian's Life (Sort of) and One Time Akmazian Saved Ryan's (Sort Of).
you will see what it is to be overcome by magneticwave | Star Trek | Spirk | 10k | What kind of an idiot would try to explain magic to a Vulcan.

Minus 1 by Ever-so-reylo (Ever_So_Reylo) | Star Wars | Reylo | 6k | The text—'What’s up, daddy?'—was originally intended for Finn.

October
a road less traveled and a life less led by Azzandra | Dishonored | Gen, Outsider & Billie | 9k | She took him out of the Void, as promised. And then she kept him, she supposed.
Changing the Sound of Your Name by Agrotera | Dishonored | Outsider/Corvo | 14k |  It was the first thing she said to him when they stumbled out of the Void. You’re going to need a name. Emerging from the dark into what promised to be a lifetime of questions impossible to answer, and she broached the hardest one first.
if the end comes (don't let us hear it) by Kandakicksass | Dishonored | Outsider/Corvo | 5k |  "He comes in like a ghost in the fall of 1854."
Work of All Saints by antistar_e (kaikamahine) | Coco | Hector/Imelda/Ernesto | 210k | Imelda Rivera (b. 1899 - d. 1969), a story that includes but is not limited to: the finest music school this side of the Santo Domingo, three traveling musicians and the mess they made of love, the twice-cursed assassination of Venustiano Carranza, all the patron saints, and ninety-six ways a man can try to cross a bridge.**
Traveling Far by astolat | GOT | Jaime/Brienne | 24k |  Three weeks into their delightful slog across Westeros, during yet another charming day of shitting in the woods, eating half-raw squirrel, and trudging his feet bloody, the single most dour and uninteresting woman Jaime had ever met in all of Westeros stopped in the middle of a field, drew a deep breath, and said, “When I was seven, my aunt came to visit with her son. My father told me that as the daughter of the house, it was my duty to show hospitality to my guests and to be gracious to them. I wanted to make him proud. So for three weeks, I let my cousin follow me around and talk to me about spiders.”
insert baseball pun here by hoppnhorn | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 6k |  He’s considering taking up smoking again if it keeps him from trying to pick up Steve in the middle of the office. That’s really the last thing that he needs to do, start fucking around with someone he works with. He had sex with a coworker one time back in college when he worked at some shitty deli and that had devolved into his manhood being threatened with a meat slicer.
Regrowth by moogle62 | Uprooted | Agnieszka/The Dragon | 1k |  Agnieszka’s wood-green cottage stands waiting for her when she leads Sarkan carefully by the hand back home. They wind through the trees together and only she does not flinch at the stray touch of branches. The Wood has known her too completely, now, for her to mistake friend for foe.
I just met you (and this is crazy) by littlesystems | Captain America | Steve/Bucky | 41k | After Steve gets outed by a grainy cell phone picture, it takes the media less than 24 hours to discover Captain America’s secret relationship with James Barnes: classical musician, teen heartthrob, and son of a former president. The only problem? Steve has never met James Barnes in his life.
will you chew until it bleeds? by brawlite | Venom | Venom/Eddie | 7k |  Venom drags Eddie into a seedy club out of sheer curiosity. Trying to make the most of a night he didn't choose for himself, Eddie tries to get laid. Instead, he gets mugged. Afterwards, Venom doesn't let Eddie feel too disappointed about the missed opportunity.
devil's backbone by starscry | Castlevania | Alucard/Trevor Belmont | 3k |  “Come, now. I’ve seen you stalking around, pent up like a bitch in heat. You’re quite high-strung; it’s beginning to wear on the others, me included,” the vampire drawls. His sharp eyes find Trevor’s, narrowing slyly. “You need a good fuck.”
Steam and Skin by LuciferianRising | Castlevania | Alucard/Trevor | 5k |  He wanted to spare Sypha the horror of having to share a bath with either of them, but Trevor never imagined choosing to share it with Alucard would lead to this. He's not exactly complaining, however.
November
when the devil comes to plea (he'll be running quicker than you've ever seen) by Hornswaggler | EOS 10 | Ryan/Akmazian | 3k | Akmazian runs with some pretty shady people. Akmazian is a pretty shady person. Now the Destroyer of Stars has developed something of a soft spot. Not all of his employees approve.
like it's supposed to by Hornswaggler | EOS 10 | Ryan/Akmazian | 2k | Ryan is consistently busy. Luckily for him, that means he's consistently distracted from things he'd really rather not think about.Unluckily for him, he's apparently not too busy for impromptu visits from one of the most wanted men in the system.
a lesson in cartography by novembersmith | Uprooted | Agnieska/Sarkan | 7k | “I will never cease to be amazed at your unequaled talent for creating chaos out of the simplest components. You were meant to be scrying and map-making. What were you doing?”
heart on a string by jilliancares | She-Ra | Adora/Catra | A good Force Captain would do a lot of things that Catra wouldn’t, like not pulling their punches when fighting Adora and not sneaking into Castle Bright Moon for anything less than evil purposes. Unfortunately, Catra wasn’t a very good Force Captain, despite striving all her life to become one.No, everything had changed when Adora wandered into the stupid Whispering Woods to find a moral compass. Little did she know she was dragging Catra’s heart on a string behind her.

Aia ke ola i Motunui by asteriae | Moana | Moana/Maui | 25k | The trouble with saving the world and returning home a hero with a demigod by your side, is it really scares off potential suitors.
lilies of the valley (cover me with kisses, make my garden grow) by diasterisms | Star Wars | Reylo | 8k | Every girl is entitled to the mistake. That one colossal fuck-up that permanently alters the terrain of who you are. You'll either learn from it or you won't, so might as well have the time of your life.
Astronomical Odds by xzombiexkittenx for Cinnamaldeide | Hannibal | Hannigram | 2.5k |  Picked up a hitchhiker last night. He said, “Thanks! how do you know I’m not a serial killer though?” I replied, “The chances of two serial killers being in the same car are astronomical.”
meet me in the woods tonight by brawlite, ToAStranger | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 86k | There’s something in the woods of Hawkins, Indiana.
Notes of Noy, Notes of Joy by pendrecarc | Spinning Silver | Miryem/The Staryk | 5k | "I might wander ten thousand years in the goblin depths and never find a way out again...."Miryem descends into the depths with no more than a dagger in her hand, a mirror about her neck, and a song in her heart to bring her husband out again.
if you don't like the company, let's just do it you and me by hoppnhorn, thecopperkid | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 9k |  “Stevie, Stevie, Stevie,” Billy tuts, and it’s nearly sickening, too fucking good, the way he looks like he can think of nothing better than digging his teeth into Steve Harrington. “Look at you. What’re we gonna do with you, huh? Tell me what you want, pretty boy.”
B-Sides by notbecauseofvictories | Devil Went Down to Georgia | The Devil/Johnny | 5k | All the tunes that didn't make the cut.

The 2019 SEO Services Report
The 2019 SEO Services Report
Tumblr media
We surveyed 1,200 business owners to better understand the current state of the SEO services industry.
In this new report you’ll learn:
How much people spend on SEO.
Where people find SEO services.
Why people choose one agency over another.
Why people decide to leave their current SEO provider.
Lots more.
Without further ado, let’s get into our findings.
Highlights and Key Statistics:
1. American small businesses spend an average of $497.16 per month on SEO services.
2. We found a strong correlation between higher spending and higher client satisfaction. In fact, clients that spent over $500/month were 53.3% more likely to be “extremely satisfied” compared to those that spent less than $500/month.
3. Most small business owners find SEO providers through referrals, Google searches and online reviews. A small fraction of SEO clients (8%) found their current provider from online advertising.
4. When it comes to choosing a provider, 74% of business owners consider an SEO provider’s reputation “very” or “extremely” important. Monthly cost and the provider’s own Google rankings were also noted as important factors.
5. On the other hand, an agency’s presence on social media and client case studies were seen as relatively unimportant factors in deciding who to work with.
6. Most small business owners expect SEO agencies to help them drive immediate growth to their customer base and bottom line. Specifically, 83% of our respondents stated that SEO providers should be able to help them “access new customers”.
7. However, most small business owners don’t seem to value a provider’s ability to grow a social media following. In fact, only 26% of respondents cited “getting followers on social media sites” as extremely important.
8. Overall SEO client satisfaction is decidedly low. Only 30% would recommend their current SEO provider to a friend or colleague. However, we found that client satisfaction among marketing agencies was higher than freelancers.
9. Not surprisingly, clients are highly satisfied with SEO providers that help them get more traffic and customers. Also, 61% of business owners cite that “increasing brand awareness” is important to them.
10. An SEO provider’s location also seems to play a key role in whether or not a client chooses to work with or stay with an SEO agency. 78% of US-based small business owners consider their provider’s location a “very” or “extremely” important consideration.
11. 44% of small business owners leave their current SEO provider largely due to “Dissatisfaction with business results”. 34% cite “customer service/ responsiveness” as a key reason they left. Only 21% leave because they were pitched by a competitor.
12. SEO provider turnover is high. 65% of our panel stated that they’ve worked with several different SEO providers. 25% have worked with 3 or more providers.
We have more detailed and expanded findings on our results below.
Average Monthly SEO Spend is <$500 Per Month
On average, small businesses spend $497.16 per month on SEO services.
Tumblr media
However, we did discover a large range in SEO spending. Half of our respondents reported that they spend less than $1,000 per year on SEO. 14% spend $5k+ per year. Only 2% spend over $25k/year.
Tumblr media
We also found that agencies tend to get paid significantly more than freelance SEO providers.
Specifically, agencies were 2x more likely to get paid $1k-$2k/month than freelancers, which mostly get paid in the $500-$1k per month range.
Tumblr media
Agencies also tend to dominate the high-end pricing range (clients that spend $10k-$25k/year on SEO).
Tumblr media
As you can see, 24% of small businesses that work with agencies spend between $10k-$25k/year, compared with 2% that work with a freelance SEO.
Key Takeaway: The average small business owner spends $497.16 per month on SEO services. Also, small business owners spend considerably more with SEO agencies than freelance SEO providers.
Monthly Spend Is Tied To Client Satisfaction
When it comes to SEO, do you “get what you pay for”?
According to our data, yes.
Specifically, we discovered that clients spending over $500/month were 53.3% more likely to consider themselves “extremely satisfied” compared to people that spend less than $500/month.
Tumblr media
We also found a clear relationship between dissatisfaction levels and cost.
Specifically, business owners that spent less than $500/month were 75% more likely to be dissatisfied than those that invested at least $500/month on SEO.
Tumblr media
This relationship played out whether a client worked with a freelancer, agency, or a mix of both.
Key Takeaway: Small business owners that spend more than $500/month are significantly happier with their SEO provider than those that spend less than $500/month.
Referrals and Google Searches Are the Top Ways Businesses Are Finding SEOs
When someone wants to hire an SEO agency, where do they look?
According to our panel, most people find potential SEO service providers through word of mouth, Google searches and online review platforms (like Yelp).
Tumblr media
On the other hand, relatively few find SEO providers through online or offline advertising, or referrals from other vendors (like web designers or writers).
If you’re an agency owner or a freelancer, this is a key finding. If you know where small business owners look to find SEO service providers, you can invest resources to make sure your business has a presence in those places.
Key Takeaway: 28% of small business owners find SEO services through word of mouth, 26% use Google and 18% use online review platforms like Yelp. Only 11% find SEO providers via online or offline advertising.
Reputation and Cost are Key Factors Involved In Choosing a Provider
Once someone finds a list of potential providers, how do they decide which one to go with?
We discovered that reputation, cost and a provider’s own Google rankings influenced their decision the most.
Tumblr media
Small business owners cited client case studies and the provider’s social media presence as significantly less important.
However, even these relatively minor factors played a role in whether or not someone decided to work with a particular SEO provider. For example, 55% of our panel cited “referrals” as an important consideration.
Tumblr media
Although the importance of referrals pales in comparison to a provider’s reputation (55% vs. 74%), it’s still something that influenced more than half of the people we spoke to.
Interestingly, we found that a provider’s location mattered quite a bit.
Only 51% knew exactly where their SEO provider was located.
Tumblr media
However, 78% of US-based small businesses stated that knowing their provider’s location was “extremely” or “very” important (with 46% stating that a known location was “extremely important”).
Tumblr media
If you provide SEO services, making your location clear and obvious may help you land more SEO clients.
Here’s a great example from Siege Media, who actually includes a picture of their office on their about page:
Tumblr media
Key Takeaway: Small business owners largely decide on an SEO provider based on their online reputation. Location also seems to play a role. 78% our panel noted that location was a factor that helped them decide whether or not to work with an agency or freelancer.
The Vast Majority of Business Owners Expect SEO Services To Increase Customers and Traffic
We asked our panel about their expectations. Specifically, we asked them which benefits from working with an SEO provider were most important to them.
They stated that “accessing new customers”, “increasing traffic”, “increasing brand awareness” and “building trust” as most important.
Tumblr media
“Gaining social media followers”, “increasing number of email subscribers” and “helping to attract new talent” were cited as relatively unimportant.
In fact, even though this is a common goal set by marketing agencies, only 18% of respondents cited “getting followers on social media sites” as extremely important.
Tumblr media
This finding is especially key for SEO providers that are taking on new clients.
For example, a newly-hired SEO provider that says: “Our first step is going to be to get more likes on your Facebook page” isn’t speaking their client’s language.
On the other hand, kicking off the client-provider relationship with: “I look forward to helping you get more targeted traffic and customers” will likely result in a more satisfied client.
Needless to say, for the relationship to last, you need to deliver on those promises (more on that later). But it does help to understand what clients hope to get out of SEO so you can mold your services and reports based on that.
Key Takeaway: SEO clients value an SEO provider’s ability to land them new clients, increase traffic and build brand awareness. However, only 18% of SEO clients want their providers to help them increase their social media following.
Overall Satisfaction With SEO Services Is Low
We asked out panelists to rate their current SEO provider (or the last SEO provider they worked with) using the Net Promoter Score.
The results were markedly low.
First off, we found that only 30% of small business owners would recommend their current SEO provider.
Tumblr media
Importantly, 30% of our respondents considered themselves “detractors”. Which means they would leave a negative review for their last or current SEO provider.
In fact, the SEO services industry as a whole has an NPS score of 0, which is considered “not likely to recommend”.
Tumblr media
When we broke down the NPS scores among agencies, freelancers, and a combination of freelancer and agency, we discovered that agencies had a higher average NPS score than freelancers.
Tumblr media
However, all three types of services had fairly low NPS scores.
Key Takeaway: Only 30% of clients would recommend their SEO service provider.
Clients Cite Lack of Education and Resources as Top Reasons for Low Satisfaction Levels
NPS is a helpful benchmark. However, NPS can only tell you so much. In other words, it’s difficult to understand why SEO services have such low levels of satisfaction.
That’s why we decided to dig deeper into this finding.
And when we dug a bit deeper to understand more about what’s happening, we uncovered a few surprising insights.
First, many unhappy SEO clients fully or partially blamed themselves.
Specifically, 50% stated that “I feel like I need more training to fully benefit from what SEO offers“ and 28% told us that they “do not have the staff resources to properly benefit from SEO”.
Tumblr media
This means that low satisfaction levels aren’t solely due to poor quality work. In fact, many clients are simply not in a position to benefit from SEO due to a lack of resources.
Plus, even clients with resources may not make SEO a priority because they don’t have the training to fully understand how SEO benefits them.
For example, let’s say an SEO provider wants to change a title tag on a client’s site. But it doesn’t happen because their developer is swamped with a website redesign. Also, this client may not understand that this simple change can increase their Google traffic due to a lack of training. So they don’t make that change a priority. And progress stalls.
Which leads us to our second interesting finding, the importance of reporting and transparency.
27% of the clients we spoke with agreed with the statement: “I find SEO to be confusing and unclear about what services they offer” 25% said that “I am not sure what I am really paying for with SEO.”
Tumblr media
In other words, many clients are confused about what their provider is doing for them or what they’re getting out of the arrangement.
These are two points that could be remedied with better reporting and increased transparency.
I should point out that a fair number of clients stated that “I feel like SEO companies are very unreliable” and “I don’t think SEO is worth the money for my business.”
Tumblr media
Which means that a simple lack of results and ROI is often the culprit behind low client satisfaction levels.
However, as you just saw, there are usually non-performance based factors at play as well.
Key Takeaway: Low SEO service satisfaction is largely due to three main factors: 1. Lack of client education, 2. Lack of available resources and 3. Poor understanding of how SEO is helping them.
Turnover In the SEO Services Industry Is Extremely High
Likely due to low global satisfaction levels, we found high levels of turnover in the SEO services industry.
Specifically, we found that 65% of small business owners have worked with at least one SEO provider before:
Tumblr media
We also found that 1/4th of our panel have worked with 3 or more providers:
Tumblr media
However, our data suggests that most clients don’t switch between SEO providers without careful consideration.
In fact, the clients in our panel have been working with their current SEO service for an average of 3 years. And lapsed clients give their service provider an average of 2 years to deliver before moving on.
Tumblr media
That said, we did discover a small subset of clients that do rapidly switch between different providers.
These “rapid switchers” tend to hire and fire SEO companies at a fever pitch.
For example, we classified 10% of our panelists as “rapid switchers” (worked with 3 or more SEO providers over the last year).
Tumblr media
Key Takeaway: 65% of SEO clients have used two or more SEO services in the past. 25% have worked with 3+ providers.
Most SEO Clients Leave Due to Lack of Results and Cost
We wanted to know why people decide to leave their current SEO provider or switch to another company.
We referred to folks that worked with multiple SEO providers as “lapsed clients”. And we asked this subset of lapsed users what went into their decision.
Here were the results:
Tumblr media
Not surprisingly, 82% of our respondents cited “Dissatisfaction with business results” as a factor in their decision. 81% reported that cost played a large role as well.
This suggests that clients don’t look at results in a vacuum. They also pay attention to the ROI that they’re getting from SEO. In other words, delivering results for clients is one thing. But it’s also important to demonstrate the ROI that SEO is having on their business. Otherwise, they may leave.
Although lack of results and cost were the two largest factors, they weren’t the only reasons that clients decide to stop working with an SEO provider.
In fact, 80% of lapsed clients stated that they found a better option on their own, which suggests that clients are happy to shop around for an alternative to their current SEO provider.
Tumblr media
And 34% cited poor “customer service/ responsiveness” as a factor in their decision.
However, relatively few clients cited “pitched by a competitor” as a reason for leaving. In other words, as long as you can keep your clients happy, they’re not likely to leave. This remains true even if a competitor attempts to poach your client with a better offer.
We also asked our “lapsed clients” panelists to describe to us why they decided to stop using an SEO service. Here’s a sample of those responses:
Tumblr media
We also asked a group of users that were happy with their SEO service (“existing clients”) what they liked about it. Here’s what they told us:
Tumblr media
Key Takeaway: Most clients stop using an SEO service due to lack of results, cost and finding an alternative on their own.
Existing Clients are 2x More Likely to Be Web Savvy Than Lapsed Clients
We asked our panel to self-report their level of “web savviness”.
Here were the results:
Tumblr media
As you can see, 37% of SEO clients consider their web savviness as “somewhat” or “not very”.
The upshot here is that many clients simply don’t have the web savviness to understand key digital marketing terms, like “title tags”, “CSS” and “backlinks”. Which suggests that SEO companies should largely avoid this sort of jargon in favor of terms like “leads”, “sales” and “first page Google rankings”.
In fact, this is backed up by another finding from our panel: that lapsed clients are significantly more likely to consider themselves not web savvy.
Specifically, we found that existing clients were 2x more likely to consider themselves “extremely web savvy” than lapsed clients.
Tumblr media
This suggests that web savvy users are in a better position to understand how their SEO service is helping them. So they decide to stay. On the other hand, clients who aren’t web savvy may not fully understand what they’re getting from their SEO provider. So they decide to leave.
Key Takeaway: Clients that stick with their current SEO provider are 2x more likely to be “extremely web savvy” compared to those that leave or switch.
Conclusion
I hope this survey helped you get a better feel for the SEO services industry in 2019.
I’d like to thank Northstar Research Partners for helping me design and conduct this survey.

Relays, PBs and Hills!
This past 5 weeks has seen a lot of activity.  With the winter season in full swing, cross country and longer runs are the order of the day. Early in June, I did what’s become my “regular double” - running the 5km Parkrun first thing on a Saturday morning, then backing that up with a fast 1km cross country in the afternoon.  This pairing resulted in my Parkrun time reducing from 26:36 down to 24:56 in the course of a few weeks.  This stands as my PB on my home Parkrun course, and is only 34 seconds slower than my all time 5k PB on any course.  That is my next mark. Meanwhile, my 1km times, while not PBs are quite good for the fact that I’ve already run a hard 5k in the morning.  I’ve got to around 3:45 for the 1k in this way. A better indication of my middle distance capabilities was the Global Running Day virtual mile, which I ran in the first week of June.  Like last year, I ran this event at the athletics track, where I had access to a measured mile.  This year, my time was 6:22, 19 seconds faster than last year.  In addition, I made a mental note of my 1500m split as I rounded the home bend.  This was around 5:55, which is faster than my 1500m PB.
The latter part of the month was dominated by bigger events, which meant taking a break from Parkrun for a while. The first of these weekends was the Anglesea Ekiden relay.  In this event, multiple runners combine to complete a longer race between them.  I had the third of 3 legs, which was the shortest at 5.8km.  The first 2k was mostly an uphill grind from the seaside caravan park into the hills behind the town.  This was tough, forcing me to slow to a walk on 2 occasions.  Next was the run on narrow trails, before descending back down to seaside level.  Finished my leg in 29:45, which I was happy with under the tough conditions.
The following week was the Bendigo Harriers invitation cross country.  I had a choice of attempting a PB over 1km or running the 3km event.  As the weather was wet, with possible storms forecast later in the day, I decided to inspect the 1km course, which was around the pony club oval, near the pavilion.  With a lot of water on the course, I decided that it was too risky attempting to get my 78kg around at speeds of up to 20 km/h, and opted for the 3k course as the safer option, with slower speeds on a well drained route.
Started the 3k in light rain.  The course was mostly uphill for the first half, before turning around and coming back down.  While the hill was tough, as a grind like the previous week, I made it to the top in just over 7 minutes, which meant I was looking at a good time.  Finished the race in 13:41, after a fast downhill leg, making it my second fastest 3k time.
This weekend was a bit all over the place.  I had originally planned to go to Sandown in SE Melbourne yesterday (Saturday) to run a leg of the AV road relay there.  However, due to withdrawals and team rearrangements, I found myself without any teammates.  With that situation, I stayed behind and focused on local events.
I decided against the Parkrun due to lack of sleep, and slept in a little instead.  For the afternoon, I had the same choice as the previous week - attempting a 1k PB or running the 3k.  After initial indecision, I went with my gut and entered the 3km event.
Unlike the previous week, weather conditions were perfect, and in addition, the road that formed the first and last 650m of the course had been recently graded and was in excellent condition.  Got off to a good start and ran the first km in 4:23, and reached the halfway mark in 6:35.  The next 900m were mostly a slog, before starting the fast downhill run to the finish.  Finished in 13:32, which made the run a new 3km PB, beating the 13:33 PB that has stood for almost 3 years.
This morning was the first of our training sessions away from the track.  We ran a series of 200m hill repeats at a fairly good pace with walk recovery.  This fits perfectly with where I’m at, and should push my performance to the next level for the latter part of the cross country season.  In addition, I’m hoping it will improve my speed endurance for the 400m next summer.
Anyway, the winter season is progressing very well, with excellent progress.  I’m looking forward to seeing what I’m capable of.

Address : 5100 NW 72nd Ave, Bay A-1, Miami, FL 33166
I have heard of the Tank Brewery time and time again, but never actually had the chance to go visit; that is until I participated in their inaugural Craft Beer 5k. Who knew that I would meet the owner that night, someone so outgoing and sociable, and we quickly became friends.
(The boss & head honcho Carlos Padron & I after the Craft Beer 5k)
Carlos Padron, lawyer and large scale cigar importer and exporter, had his first taste of craft beer right here in Miami, FL! He was actually at The Local in Coral Gables & while eating his meal, he wanted to try something new. His first craft beer was Cigar City’s Maduro (a brown ale) based off the recommendation of a server who worked there. He listened to her as she gave him the low down on the Maduro.  He saw how enthusiastic and knowledgeable she was on the subject and how excited she was to tell him about the beer. This was something he wanted to get into fast!
So he talked to a couple of his lawyer buddy’s and they went all in! Knowing nothing about the brewing process, Carlos reached out to FIUs craft beer club (B.R.E.W. FIU) and struck up a partnership with them. The brew masters at Tank are from BREW FIU and what is cool about this whole thing is that Carlos gives them free reign to do as they please; he doesn’t micromanage. While he learns the process, he knows and trusts his brew masters to do what they do.
We got to take a tour of the brewery which honestly left us impressed. They opened the brewery next to the warehouses where they store and ship cigars out, so they have a huge amount of space to mess with.
What’s even cooler, is they’re starting a bottling process and we got to see the machine! So pretty soon you’ll be able to pick up some Tank beers at your local supermarket.
(The bottling machine)
And what’s even cooler is that they have their own lab for quality control! They want to make sure each newly brewed beer has the same great tasting consistency as the last. They know that craft beer drinkers have no loyalty, so it just takes one bad batch to lose a customer, so with this lab (the only one in Miami so far) they make sure that each beer is up to their high standards.
 (The lab)
(The tasting room)
The same vibes I felt from Carlos radiate off of Tank Brewery. Opening their doors this year it’s a family friendly place where you know you’re going to have a good time. Speaking of good time, on to the important part, THE BEER!!!
(flights are filled in cigar boxes from Carlos Padrons Cigar company!)
Here are the explanations from the brewery:
Core:
El Farito IPA [American IPA (6.5% Alc/ 60 IBU)]: Boasting an intense hoppy nose of citrus and tropical fruit, this drinkable IPA will satisfy your hop fix anytime of the day. Named after Key Biscayne’s Cape Florida lighthouse, better known to locals as “El Farito”.
Freedom Tower [American Amber (5.3% Alc/ 30 IBU)]: We named our Amber Ale after Miami’s most recognizable landmark, so called for its deep ties to our local Cuban-American population. This ale features malt-y caramel flavors with subtle hints of stone fruit.
La Finca Miami [Belgian Style Wheat Saison (6.2% Alc/ 26 IBU)]: An age-old beer style that originated in the farmhouses of Belgium. Crisp, citrus-y and refreshing, La Finca Miami is the perfect companion on a hot day.
Half Year Releases:
Byronic Brown [English Style Brown Ale (4.6% Alc/ 24 IBU )]: Byronic Brown is a complex and delicately balanced beer that exhibits nutty and bready flavors, with mild caramel and dry cacao in support.
Rye-lingual [Rye Stout (6.3% Alc/ 45 IBU)]: Suggestions of luscious bittersweet baker’s chocolate and a touch of smooth cold-brewed coffee coat the tongue.
Rye-lingual (Rye Stout Nitro): No description available.
Seasonal Hop Series: The series consists of four hoppy beers that are meant to be perfectly evocative of the four seasons. A Double IPA bursting with fruity hops in Spring, a refreshing Pale Ale in summer, a wet-hopped Rye IPA for autumn, and a dark and resiny India Black Ale in winter.
Spring: Double IPA [Double IPA (8% Alc/ 80 IBU)]: Like a tropical fruit salad, an explosion of juicy passionfruit, gooseberry, sweet mango, and ruby red spring forth. All this balanced by dank, grassy, and floral hop undertones.
Summer: Pale Ale [Southeast Pale Ale (5.6% Alc/ 35 IBU)]: Our Pale Ale is hoppy and refreshing, designed with the hot Miami Summer in mind.
Fall: Wet Hopped Rye IPA [Rye IPA (7.1% Alc/ 60 IBU)]: Our Wet-hopped Rye IPA is a celebration of both the hop harvest, and the beginning of Autumn. Hopped with Amarillo and Centennial, and finished with Simcoe “wet” hops; this IPA is loaded with fresh unadulterated hop aroma. Juicy mango, apricot, pomelo, and sticky pine resin explode on the palate, followed by biscuit and spice on the finish. Enjoy fresh, preferably with family and friends.
Winter: India Black Ale [Black IPA/ Cascadian Dark Ale (6.6% Alc/ 68 IBU)]: Chinook, hops give this beer the refreshing and unmistakable aroma of resiny pine with hints of bitter grapefruit. If the smell of hiking through a pine forest with a cup o’ Joe in hand is your thing, then this is your beer.
Abbey: The beers in the Abbey series are crafted using different techniques and carefully chosen ingredients to create their unique attributes. However, at the heart of all these beers lies a common motif: a classic Belgian yeast strain and its complex and expressive character.
Abbey 6 [Belgian Style Dubbel (7.2% Alc/ 22 IBU)]: This dark mahogany ale is loosely based on the classic Dubbel style brewed by the Trappist monasteries of Belgium.
Abbey 8 [Belgian Style Trippel (9.3% Alc/ 36 IBU)]: The classic Tripels of Belgium were the inspiration for our Abbey 8.
Abbey 10 [Belgian Style Quadrupel (11.5% Alc/ 25 IBU)]: This gorgeous dark-maroon ale is the boldest in the Abbey Series, and our twist on the Belgian Quadrupel style.
Small Batch Specialty Series:
Amalgamation Blends: The Amalgamation series is an ongoing experiment in which we explore the endless possibilities attainable through blending.
-Zymurgy Project (Wild Ale): No description available.
Ventanita Series: Our “Ventanita: Coffee Infused Series” is a continuous collaborative effort with specialty coffee roasters. Specialty coffee can display a diverse array of flavors that can come as a surprise to the uninitiated. We work closely with our coffee roasting friends at each step of the process to create a perfectly balanced interplay between both coffee and beer.
Hop Experiment: Our Hop Experiments are an ever changing array of small batch hoppy beers focused on exploring the world of hops!
-Hop Experiment #4 [Motueka Saison (6.2% Alc)]: Character hop: Motueka. Tasting notes: key lime, lemon, herbal mint, earthy “saison funk.”
-Hop Experiment #6 [India Pale Ale (5.5% Alc)]: Character hops: callista, nelson, mistral, experimental French hop P10/9. Tasting notes: bitter grapefruit, citrus zest, pine needles, pineapple, dank, resiny.
Limited Release: Various seasonal releases that we love to brew. Enjoy them while they last!
Frank The Tank [Imperial Stout (10% Alc/ 45 IBU)]: Dark chocolate and french press coffee dominate the palate, accompanied by a fruity bouquet of blackberry, dark cherry, and raisin, with hints of brown sugar.
German Style Pils [German Style Pils (4.8% Alc/ 34 IBU)]: Citrusy and herbal hop character over cracker-like Pils malt leads to a crisp profile with a snappy finish.
London Style Porter [British Porter (5.0% Alc/ 35 IBU)]: A throwback porter, inspired by those produced in London at the turn of the 20th century. Brown malt paired with judicious amounts of black malt creates the impression of roasted nuts, unsweetened cacao, and coffee in this chocolate-brown brew. UK Fuggle hops deliver their unmistakable cedar-like wood character, and a classic British yeast provides dark fruit complexity. For 150 years, the drink of choice for London’s working class: this unapologetically robust beer was never intended for “polite society.”
Oktoberfest Marzen [Marzen (6.0% Alc/ 22 IBU)]: Märzen is the malty amber-colored predecessor to the modern day pale Oktoberfest lager. The name stems from historical times, when this beer would have been brewed in March and stored until Oktoberfest. Times have changed, but we still make it a point to lager our Oktoberfest-Märzen for at least 12 weeks, resulting in an exceptionally smooth beer.
Oaked [American Oaked Rye Stout (6.5% Alc)]: The oak contributes vanilla with hints of caramel and wood-tannin elements, which beautifully compliment this stouts dark chocolate and spice character. Tasting notes: vanilla, caramel, bourbon oak, coffee, unsweetened dark chocolate, pumpernickel, dried currant.
Oaked [French Oaked English Brown (4.6% Alc)]: French oak elevates this refined and delicate beer to new level of elegance. Tasting notes: soft toasted oak, coconut and macadamia, complex “French oak spice structure” hints of vanilla, caramel and chocolate, velvety mouthfeel.
(The Zymurgy Project Wild Ale)
Here’s what I thought:
Core:
El Farito IPA: Citrusy, fruity & hoppy, but neither flavors are overbearing. A great mix of all three where each one balances the other out, neither one over powers the other. Scents of citrus and hops.
Freedom Tower: Malty with a bit of a fruity/sweet aftertaste. Not overbearing on the sweetness. Scents of an ale/malty.
La Finca Miami: Light. Crisp. More citrus flavor than your usual Belgian. Puckered my lips. Sweet, but not over bearing. Had a citrusy scent as well.
Half Year Releases:
Byronic Brown: Was not on tap.
Rye-lingual: Scents of straight coffee and chocolate. Full bodied. Hits you in the back of your mouth. Nice chocolatey/coffee aftertaste.
Rye-lingual (Nitro): Same scents. A lot smoother. Velvety feel as it travels down your mouth. Creamy. Tastes similar to a Guinness Nitro IPA
Seasonal Hop Series:
Spring: Double IPA- Was not on tap.
Summer: Pale Ale- Was not on tap.
Fall: Wet Hopped Rye IPA- Was not on tap.
Winter: India Black Ale- Was not on tap.
Abbey:
Abbey 6: Was not on tap.
Abbey 8: Was not on tap.
Abbey 10: Was not on tap.
Small Batch Specialty Series:
Amalgamation Blends: Zymurgy Project- Now this was a really cool one. It is a wild ale. Malty, crisp, refreshing with a sort of woody/earthy aftertaste (although it is not overbearing). This is actually “La Finca” fermented for 30 weeks. It is kind of sweet as well and a little sour too in the second and third taste, but again, not overbearing. Makes you pucker your lips a bit. Scents of ale, but tastes completely different. It had a bit of a different taste every sip you took.
Ventanita Series: Was not on tap.
Hop Experiment #4: Lemony/subtle key lime scents. Leaves a slight minty cleansing aftertaste. Crisp. All flavors are balanced and subtle, nothing really stands out.
Experiment #6: Citrusy, fruity scents; kind of like fruity pebbles. Sweet. Citrusy, Also hits the back of your mouth. Crisp, would recommend as a beach beer; slight hints of grapefruit.
Limited Release:
Frank The Tank: Was not on tap.
German Style Pils: Was not on tap.
London Style Porter: Was not on tap.
Oktoberfest Marzen: Was not on tap.
Oaked [American Oaked Rye Stout (6.5% Alc)]: Oaky, chocolatey scents. Chocolate rye aftertaste. Envelopes the pallet. Scents of an imperial stout.
Oaked [French Oaked English Brown (4.6% Alc)]: Earthy, smells exactly like the cask it was in. Oaky, subtle chocolate aftertaste. Typical brown ale.
So all in all the ambiance of the brewery, the service from the staff, the food we ate and the beers we were served I would give Tank Brewing Company 4 out of 5 piggys!
Quick note, one little thing that I found out so you don’t freak out while you’re there; the brewers believe that all people will enjoy the aroma and scents of a craft beer, when most will just want to be at the brewery to drink beer and have a good time. Don’t let the way they pour fool you, the servers are not doing bad pours, they are pouring as the brewers instructed them. They pour 8oz pours in 16oz glasses so you can get the volatile scents (scents that will disappear quickly) from the foam of the beer. So don’t get upset at your servers for serving the beers the way the brewers are telling them to pour! There’s a reason behind the madness.
(The aptly named “Big Ass Pretzel” & “Duck Wings” from @twistedforkkitchen. Check them out while you’re there!)
With a dope atmosphere and definitely with room to grow, I definitely see Tank Brewery being a powerhouse in the near future. So stop on by, grab a beer, get your growler filled and have a great time!
They also have a cigar room where you can light up a stogie and down a couple beers!

100 Fall Bucket List Ideas for an Intentional Season
My number one goal for my favorite season is to have an intentional Fall. I know that with our lives are busy. I know that if we don't create a list of bucket list ideas, then we won't be intentional. We will miss the amazing things that only happen in the Fall.
What were some of your favorite Fall activities when you were a child? We always visited Huber's Farm in Starlight, Indiana. If we didn't go as a family, I went on a field trip with our elementary school. Sometimes we would go to the store and buy pumpkins to carve or paint. I loved seeing the bright oranges and reds of the leaves as they changed colors.

(06/25/17) "The Bread of Life" (Humanity wk 5)
JOHN 6: “Where” & “When” (the Feeding & Walking on Water). Today: “WHO”.
youtube
John records things ‘differently’ [‘Where’ to Phil, Peter doesn’t walk on water] & adds what the others omit, “On the following day … “ (vs 22).
Matt & Mk healings, opposition from Religious leaders, healing of a Gentile followed by the Feeding of 4K Gentiles, Religious leaders seek a ‘sign’, Jesus warns His disciples.
Lk moves from Feeding of 5K directly to Peter’s Rev.
All 3 go to the Mount of Transfiguration. John doesn’t. He skips to the Feast of Tabs.
John has been writing around ‘Feasts’, Temple, Law: Religion. Also, Israel’s History as a rep of Humanity, and New Creation by our Father, the Son & Spirit (like Gen 1). p. 2
The Turning Point: Year of Rejection & Opposition. Like the Wilderness all over again! Faith.
John: Instigated by Religious leaders BUT also the division ‘of man’ & ‘of God’.
Read vss 21-42. From ‘The Boats of Tiberias’ to ‘The Bread of Life’!
First, “Who” gets out of the ‘boat’: Those who are concerned ‘of man’ [physical], not spiritual.
No appetite for spiritual things. But it doesn’t stop the Truth from speaking.
Secondly, misreading of vs 27. Take out the word ‘for’: The act of eating, to ‘work something’,
not ‘for’ something. See 5:17 & 9:4. EATING: Taste, Chew, Swallow. WORK the food! Digestion: More breakdown, transform into ‘Flesh’ & Energy, Dispose of Non-essential
Compare their Q [vs 28] with ‘labor for’. How would ‘give’ figure into ‘working for’?
Thirdly, WHO, “the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on
Him … He sent (Him)” (vss 27-29). “Who do men say I, the Son of Man, am?” Heb 1.
Everything they hear is ‘carnal’, ‘food’ oriented, material, physical, ‘sent’. Manna Madness & Moses! Wilderness mentality: The Word not mixed with Faith! Jesus says, “Believe IN Him!” From ‘Boats to Bread to BELIEVE’! ‘Where’? ‘When’? WHO!
Jesus hears them comparing Him to Moses [Prophet of Deut 18, ‘like me … like you’, Son of Man], looking for validation ‘from God’, ‘signs’. Read 32-34, again. True Bread ‘of God’: True Light [1:9], True Worshipers [4:23], True Vine [15:1], True God [17:3].
He hears them crying out for what Moses represented: Law & Religion. Neither feeds!
Note: Moses has been a theme of John’s from the ‘beginning’: 1:17 & 45, 3:14, 5:45-46.
WHO? “I AM the Bread of Life” [first of seven compound ‘I AM’s in John].
“I AM the One who tells you everything about yourself without judgment” (Jn 4)
“I AM the One who is with you in every storm and speaks, ‘Fear not! I AM’” (Jn 6)
“I AM the voice of One crying in your self-imposed wilderness, as well as your desert of hungering and thirsting for more.”
I AM: Connected to Moses (Ex 3), wilderness.
BREAD: From Adam [Gen 3:19], to Mel [Gen 14:18], to Joseph’s granaries [Gen 41], the Shewbread [Ex 40, Rom 12]. ‘Bread of God’ [vs 33], ‘from Heaven’ [vs 32], ‘of Life’ [vs 35]. This is not about ‘physical bread’ or ‘miracles’; but WHERE, the Giver of both earthly food/provision & spiritual: “LIFT UP your eyes”, where you are, I AM.
Gen 1:6-8, ‘second day’, creation of an atmosphere, ‘expanse’ between ‘divided’ waters, Heaven, ‘where’ the bread comes from! And the third day?
OF LIFE! “In Him was life … the Bread of Life, the Way, Truth & Life that comes down & raises up, that breaks through the wilderness & death mentality! Eternal!
Close with vss 40-42.
“Came down”, as the Son of Man, the Nobleman’s son [below], taking on all of Humanity’s illness.
The Jews could not handle the ‘coming down’ concept, i.e., ‘from dust’. Seemed to miss the ‘sent’ part. This was a huge stretch: The Son of Man is the Son of God. Revelation!
JOHN
Jn 1: The Word [“beginning”], Baptism of ‘the Lamb of God’, Jacob’s ladder
Jn 2: 1st Sign: Water to Wine at a Wedding, Jerusalem/Passover/Temple [Religion]
Jn 3: Nic [religious leader]; John the B [‘voice in the wilderness’/prophetic voice, breaking in on
‘other voices’, ‘who do men … ’] pulls it all together (vss 27-36).
Jn 4: Samaria [Acts 1:8], Jacob’s well [Ladder in Jn 1], first ‘I AM’ [God of the 2nd Chances at
the burning bush]. A ‘water’ theme is becoming clear. Read 4:42! 2nd Sign –Healing the Nobleman’s son (“Come down”)
Jn 5: “Feast of the Jews”, 38 yr old invalid [Deut 2:14], Father emphasis [started in Jn 4 with
Woman]. Relationship, not Religion. Persecution for ‘working on’ Sabbath (vs 16) & wanting to kill Him for saying ‘God was His Father’. Read 5:24-27.
Jn 6: “Where & When” – I AM, again [Mo/Israel in Wilderness] but MORE!

Moz Local Report: Who's Winning Wealth Management?
Moz Local Report: Who's Winning Wealth Management?
Posted by Dr-Pete
As more people look for financial advice online, brick-and-mortar wealth management firms and financial advisors are competing harder than ever for search customers. More than 70% of millennials use search engines for research, and 15% of 18–34 year-olds are turning directly to search engines for financial advice. As consumers in their 20s and 30s grow their wealth, have families, and begin planning for the future, who is best situated to capture their attention online?
This turns out to be a more difficult question than you might think. Focusing on Google, there are three major areas where financial service providers can compete: organic results, local results, and paid results (ads). Even organic results are increasingly localized, with top rankings varying wildly from city to city, and traditional organic results are often pushed below both ads and the local 3-pack. Local packs command a large amount of screen real-estate — here’s a local pack for “financial planner” in my own suburban Chicago neighborhood:
In partnership with Hearsay Systems, which provides Advisor Cloud solutions for the financial services industry, we decided to find out who’s leading the pack (no pun intended) in 2017 for wealth management and financial advisory searches across organic, local, and paid results.
Get the full report
Research methodology
For the purposes of this study, we decided to target five keyphrases related to wealth management and financial advisory services:
financial advisor
financial planning
financial planner
financial consultant
wealth management
For each keyword, we looked at page one of Google results across 5,000 cities (the 5K largest cities in the contiguous 48 states, according to US census data). We then captured URLs and ranking positions across organic, local, and paid results.
To aggregate the data, we weighted each result by the population of the corresponding city and the estimated click-through rate (CTR) of its ranking position. We used a fairly conservative CTR curve, weighting top results a bit heavier, but not too dramatically:
For the final analysis across all five keywords, we weighted each keyword by its estimated search volume (according to Google Adwords) in the United States. By far, “financial advisor” was the most popular keyword, scooping up about 55% of search share across the keyword set.
Since some large brands use multiple websites (domains), we consolidated their numbers across those domains. So, for example, morganstanley.com and morganstanleybranch.com were grouped together in the final analysis. Quite a few brands have separate domains for their corporate site and local/branch locations. We’re interested in the strength of the brands themselves, not the particulars of how they divvy up their websites.
Top 5 organic leaders
The Top 5 for organic results were dominated by informational and news sites. The following graph compares the total “Click Share” based on all available clicks across all sites:
Investopedia led the way, scoring almost one-fifth of all clicks in our aggregate model, across more than 4,000 ranking domains. Among major players in the financial services space, only Edward Jones made it into the Top 5.
This is consistent with the idea that people are seeking general financial advice, and may not always be looking to organic results to find local service providers. Google’s results can often tell us a lot about how they’re interpreting search intent.
Curious case of keyword #4
Across the five keywords, we generally saw similar patterns. There were ranking variations, of course, but most of the top sites for one keyword performed well across the other keywords in organic results. The notable exception was keyword #4, “financial consultant.”
The Top 10 organic competitors for “financial consultant” included Monster.com (#1), Indeed.com (#4), Glassdoor (#5), and Robert Half (#7). Google seems to be interpreting this search as a job-hunting search and not a search for a service provider. This goes to show how important it is to make sure you’re targeting the right terms.
Top 5 local leaders
Applying the same analysis to the local pack, we came up with the following Top 5…
Traditional wealth management players performed much better in local pack results. Across our data, though, Edward Jones dominated the competitors in local rankings, consuming almost 40% of the total Click Share.
Interestingly, there was more overall diversity in local pack results, even with one dominant player and only three ranking positions per page. While just over 4,000 different domains ranked across organic results, local packs in our data set sampled from almost 7,000 different domains.
Top 5 paid/ad leaders
Morgan Stanley led the way in paid positioning, capturing just under 20% of Click Share. The rest of the Top 5 paid players were a bit more well-rounded, consuming roughly equal shares...
Interesting to note that relative newcomer SoFi seems to be spending pretty heavily in the space. SoFi (“Social Finance”) is an online finance community clearly aimed at the digital generation.
Given that this is a competitive space with relatively high costs-per-click (CPC), only 366 domains appeared in paid listings in our study. This was not due to a lack of ads — over 99% of the search results we examined displayed ads, and almost every search had a full complement of seven ads.
Non-traditional players
In addition to SoFi, a couple of newcomers fared pretty well in our data relative to their size and spend. Betterment.com appeared in 25th place in organic and 16th in paid. NerdWallet came in 46th in organic results and 22nd in paid. Credio.com took 20th place in organic overall but had no paid presence.
The one advantage traditional players clearly still have is in local results, where none of these newcomers ranked. Big brands with multiple brick-and-mortar presences still dominate local pack results, for obvious reasons, and online-only players can’t compete in local/map results. This makes performing well in local results even more important for big brands with a strong, nationwide physical presence.
Big winner: Edward Jones
Squeezing a lot of data into one graph can be a little dangerous, but let’s take a peek at what happens when we aggregate across all three types of listings (organic, local, and paid). Here are the Top 5 across all of the data in our study…
The combination of their dominant #1 position in our local data, #5 in organic, and a solid #25 in paid makes Edward Jones the clear overall winner, grabbing just over 14% of total Click Share in our study. Industry powerhouse Morgan Stanley comes in at #2, thanks primarily to their #1 paid ranking and #5 local position.
What’s the secret to Edward Jones’ success? Despite what the Internet wants you to believe, there’s almost never just one weird trick to search marketing success in 2017. One significant factor may be that Edward Jones has gone all-in on hyper-local pages. Their dominant local presence was made up of over 7,000 unique URLs representing their individual advisors.
Each advisor page has a clear, consistent Name, Address, and Phone number (or “NAP,” to use local search lingo), office hours, and other essential information. While the pages aren’t particularly unique, Edward Jones has done a good job of making sure that local offices are well represented and have a consistent, structured page.
It’s worth noting that even local rankings are very keyword specific. While Edward Jones ranked #1 overall in local packs for all four keyphrases starting with “financial…”, they fell to #23 for “wealth management.” Edward Jones has clearly carved out their niche.
The Wall Street Journal, on the other hand, maintains their dominant organic position with just a single page: a guide to choosing a financial planner. This page clearly benefits from WSJ’s overall authority, and it shows just how different ranking for organic and local search has become these days.
A few tactical takeaways
Based on this research, what advice would we give to financial players (big and small) who hope to be competitive in Google search?
Brick-and-mortar should focus on local
The big financial players with physical offices need to capitalize on that fact, because online-only players won’t be able to compete in local results (at least for now). While a hyper-local approach (to the tune of thousands of pages) is a big undertaking and not without risk, I’d highly recommend testing it if you’re a big player in the space. Edward Jones’ success with this approach can’t be ignored.
For local, focus attention on key markets
You don’t have to compete in every market (you’re probably not even physically in every market). Across even five keywords and 5,000 cities, there were roughly 7,000 domains ranking in the local 3-pack. That means that the winners for any given market varied wildly. Invest your hyper-local resources in key markets with the highest potential ROI.
Online-only should invest in content
Sure, the Wall Street Journal is a huge player, but the fact that they ranked across thousands of cities and highly competitive keywords with a single piece of content is still pretty amazing. Google seems to be interpreting these keywords as informational, and so online-only players need to invest heavily in content that hits the research phase of the buyer cycle. If big financial players hope to compete for organic, they may have to do the same.
You may have to pay for placement
I’ve worked in paid search in a former life, and I believe a balanced approach to search marketing has to be an eyes-wide-open approach. Right now, ads have prominent placement on these searches, often with a full seven ads per page (including four at the top). If you have the money and want to compete against organic and local pack results, you have to at least run the numbers on advertising.
