It's so sad to me that women feel embarrassed about wanting to be homemakers/housewives. We're told we can be whatever we want, and some people claim no one is saying you can't be a housewife. But, if women feel embarrassed to want to stay home, obviously we're being taught that's not what we should want. If we feel embarrassed to be soft and embrace our femininity, obviously we're being told those are bad things to be. If you're looking for validation and someone to say it's okay-it is perfectly okay to want to stay home and take care of your home and family. You don't need to have an illness that makes working hard, you don't need to have kids, you can just want to stay home and let your partner take care of finances. You can just enjoy spending your day cooking, cleaning, and doing projects at home. It's okay. 🩷

The year is 1959 and everything’s a-okay in the picture-perfect suburb of Senita Valley, Arizona. The weather’s been nice, a block party’s scheduled for next weekend, and everyone’s having a nice quiet Sunday until.... NEPTUNE ATTACKS!!! And nobody on earth can stop them– except for the Senita Valley Ladies' Brunch Club!
While they usually just spend their meetings gossiping and swapping recipes, today they're fighting back with whatever they have on hand. Who says the Brunch Club sits around doing nothing, huh?
These are redesigns of some old, OLD characters and I'm honestly super happy with them. They'd ideally be part of a cartoony FPS video game, or maybe just a set of trading cards.

Has anyone watched Shining Vale? Spent the last 2 days binging it & now all I can think about is a story...
*mild spoiler warning*
with Bucky or Steve where the reader gets possessed by a dead 40's/50's housewife, chaos, smut, & maybe a bit of evil ensues.

It’s hilarious how so many people associate Hayoa Mizayazki films with peaceful, comforting, relaxing, wholesome content when there’s literally so much going on in these films. Aside from the very blatant anti war themes and critiques on the wealthy in basically all of them, all of his characters are having deeply emotional and psychological responses to their surroundings. Take a look at Satsuki in My Neighbor Totoro. It’s 1958, her dad is an archeology professor who spends every waking hour elbow deep in studies, her little sister is just a toddler, 4 years old and trying to make sense of the world, and her mother is so ill she lives in a hospital. But Satsuki cheerfully steps in and becomes housewife and mother, taking care of chores like preparing meals and essentially raising her younger sister. And she’s only 10. Do you know what I did when I was 10? Got an acorn stuck in my nose because my brother and I thought it was funny to shoot them out of our nostrils. I feel like most Western films would say what an incredible kid she is, how strong she is and how she’s such a good girl. Even the neighbors say this, always complimenting her manners, because it’s such a surprise from a girl so young to be acting so mature. But then at the end of the movie Satsuki’s mother says how hard this has been on her, but she doesn’t show it. This immediately reminds the audience that this isn’t a good thing, that it’s bad for children to have to become adults too early. Anyways I feel like Totoro doesn’t get enough analysis, people don’t look at the intricacies of the slice of life Ghibli films as much. Here’s to Satsuki and I hope she grew up to be a very well adjusted woman.

One of my friends is allergic to pineapple but misses the taste. Where the new house is, there is an abundance of pineapple weed, so here is a little foraged treat for her. We are doing plastic free July (although we are a sustainable family) so are looking for ways to be creative when gifting.

I'm currently looking for some more tradfem friends, so I guess I'm going to open my DMs? I'll put a little bit about me down here just to see if maybe we connect. Most of my friends work and I can't drive so I'm stuck in the house with nowhere to go and no one to chat with once my housework is done 😊

A Week as a 1950s Housewife - Monday (Grocery and Kitchen)
Hello Girls, today is Monday, the first day of a Housewife's week. Many people find Mondays very boring, because it is a day where several responsibilities appear, and this would be no different for a Housewife. There are things that should be done every day, such as taking care of your appearance. Nothing better than starting the week with a beautiful hairstyle and impeccable makeup. This also counts for clothing. Choose a good dress, hat, hats, look very elegant.
There are tasks that will have to be done every day, they are: Breakfast, Making the bed, sweeping the floor, bedding, dusting the furniture (if any), cooking and putting away the food, washing the sink and the dishes, organizing objects and home decor.
Who doesn't love a hearty breakfast? But the one who really likes it is your husband, who is going to work and needs to be well fed. This is the first cooking task of the day. You are fed, your husband is too, he gives you a kiss and wishes you a good morning, heading out the door for another day of work. And that's where your work really begins.
Before cleaning and cooking, one thing that should definitely be done on Monday is to go shopping at the nearest market. You will need cleaning products and ingredients that are definitely gone due to possible dinners on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Housewives in the 1950s loved kitchens, and more than that, having a table that was always full with lots of options, and that's what we go to the market for today. Before you go to the grocery store, prepare your shopping list! One of the qualities of 1950s housewives was organization. You save time and often money by going to the supermarket prepared. Saving time is very important, as there is still a lot to be done. Shopping done, time to go home! Let's focus on organization again, and save all our purchases.
Now that you're home, you can finally open the windows to let the air in, take some dust out of the rooms, and do some tidying up until just before lunch time. Cooking on Monday means that you can make food for the whole week, and be freer for other tasks on other days of the week, which is why it may take longer on that day.
I have a habit of having lunch, I don't know about you, but as soon as everything is ready. Food made and packed for the rest of the week. After lunch, the dishes should always be washed, as well as the sink and the kitchen floor swept, after all you spent hours cooking. The rest of the afternoon is used to do small daily tasks, and be sure to have some free time for yourself. Afternoon tea, watching TV or reading a Housewife magazine. Don't forget that your husband will be home soon, and it will certainly be gratifying for him to be welcomed with you impeccable. A bath and tidying up again will be necessary.
After that comes the delicious dinner and the couple's conversation about the day's events. Don't forget to take the dishes out and wash them again. Sometimes you have a generous husband who will help you with the task of washing the dinner dishes. After that you can spend time together watching TV before going to bed after a long day at work.
Hope you like it.
