A Week as a 1950s Housewife - Monday (Grocery and Kitchen)
Hello Girls, today is Monday, the first day of a Housewife's week. Many people find Mondays very boring, because it is a day where several responsibilities appear, and this would be no different for a Housewife. There are things that should be done every day, such as taking care of your appearance. Nothing better than starting the week with a beautiful hairstyle and impeccable makeup. This also counts for clothing. Choose a good dress, hat, hats, look very elegant.
There are tasks that will have to be done every day, they are: Breakfast, Making the bed, sweeping the floor, bedding, dusting the furniture (if any), cooking and putting away the food, washing the sink and the dishes, organizing objects and home decor.
Who doesn't love a hearty breakfast? But the one who really likes it is your husband, who is going to work and needs to be well fed. This is the first cooking task of the day. You are fed, your husband is too, he gives you a kiss and wishes you a good morning, heading out the door for another day of work. And that's where your work really begins.
Before cleaning and cooking, one thing that should definitely be done on Monday is to go shopping at the nearest market. You will need cleaning products and ingredients that are definitely gone due to possible dinners on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Housewives in the 1950s loved kitchens, and more than that, having a table that was always full with lots of options, and that's what we go to the market for today. Before you go to the grocery store, prepare your shopping list! One of the qualities of 1950s housewives was organization. You save time and often money by going to the supermarket prepared. Saving time is very important, as there is still a lot to be done. Shopping done, time to go home! Let's focus on organization again, and save all our purchases.
Now that you're home, you can finally open the windows to let the air in, take some dust out of the rooms, and do some tidying up until just before lunch time. Cooking on Monday means that you can make food for the whole week, and be freer for other tasks on other days of the week, which is why it may take longer on that day.
I have a habit of having lunch, I don't know about you, but as soon as everything is ready. Food made and packed for the rest of the week. After lunch, the dishes should always be washed, as well as the sink and the kitchen floor swept, after all you spent hours cooking. The rest of the afternoon is used to do small daily tasks, and be sure to have some free time for yourself. Afternoon tea, watching TV or reading a Housewife magazine. Don't forget that your husband will be home soon, and it will certainly be gratifying for him to be welcomed with you impeccable. A bath and tidying up again will be necessary.
After that comes the delicious dinner and the couple's conversation about the day's events. Don't forget to take the dishes out and wash them again. Sometimes you have a generous husband who will help you with the task of washing the dinner dishes. After that you can spend time together watching TV before going to bed after a long day at work.
Hope you like it.
