It made no sense that Scott Borchetta, Tree Paine, Joe Alwyn, Joe's psychotherapist mother, Joe's brother, and Joe's father were able to convince Taylor Swift that her fanbase hated and was through with her, when massive fields of Swiftie social media posts celebrating and praising all of Taylor's eras were readily available, all of the scrapbooks from all of Taylor's eras with all of the photos were readily available, all of the videos and online pictures celebrating all of Taylor's eras with her fans were available online, and most importantly, Andrea, Scott, and Austin Swift were right there with her to remind her of the truth and counter every lie Taylor was being assaulted with.

That's when I remembered that Taylor said she was completely disconnected and isolated from the internet, her Swifties, and the truth of her reality for the entire time Scott Borchetta, Tree Paine, Joe Alwyn, and the Alwyn family were having their way with Taylor during Scott Borchetta's attempts to enslave, exploit, and extort Taylor forever.

And then I remembered about Taylor's Global Citizen performance of "Soon You'll Get Better" and the fact that the Denver DJ issue was also a major stressor for Taylor and Andrea during all of that. Taylor couldn't lean on her normal family support network the way she normally would and could because she was being guilted into believing she'd further stress them out and harm their health during their already stressful multi-faceted endless nightmare.

That's how Scott Borchetta, Tree Paine, Joe Alwyn, Joe's endlessly hovering psychotherapist mother, Joe's endlessly hovering brother, and Joe's father completely disconnected Taylor from reality and her Swifties and brainwashed her for her permanent enslavement where she didn't, couldn't, and wouldn't have a name unless someone else decided what her name would be and if she was even allowed to use it, or the "I" pronoun, in any way, ever again.

So with math, you always have to check your math; and I did so with the Shamrock Holdings situation; and this is how my math checked out:

Shamrock Holdings was disconnected from reality and their most critical support person for the purchase of Taylor Swift's masters.

Shamrock Holdings was required to accept anything and everything they were being told, and all of Scott Borchetta's and Scooter Braun's terms, or they didn't get to have anything at all.

Shamrock Holdings was guilted into believing there was something wrong with them for not accepting anything and everything they were being told, and all of Scott Borchetta's and Scooter Braun's terms.

Shamrock Holdings got massively defrauded in the deal and was left looking and feeling a lot like Taylor Swift after trying to believe in and trust Scott Borchetta. It looks like my math checks out, but the only ones who'd know for certain are Taylor, Andrea, Scott, and Austin Swift.

Joe Alwyn sought out and was repeatedly cast as a domestic abuser. Why did so many casting professionals believe that Joe Alwyn was THE perfect match for so many domestic abuser roles? And just like Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, notice that even though Joe Alwyn was the one who repeatedly sabotaged Taylor, he's still profiting from her work forever… And why is there a song about Joe Alwyn that references Scooter? There are some very unfortunate "coincidences" going on here…

There's a repeating pattern here that connects back to 10:10:29 in Taylor's directorial debut: the Speak Now "Mine" music video, the 14.5 hour meet and greet, the All Too Well issue, and the Speak Now World Tour. It all connects to attempting to disempower, break, and enslave all women and girls through Taylor Swift; and the foundation of all of that is gaslighting.

Anyone who's watched the 14.5 hour meet and greet videos can see that Taylor Swift and her Swifties are unstoppable around each other; because they synergize, heal, regenerate, and resurrect themselves and each other perpetually through love, trying to put love into words, and then trying to express that love in massively creative ways. All of that is unstoppable and uncontrollable and humanity's enemies are determined to squash, dampen, and extinguish that in every inhuman and antihuman way they can think of.

Just as they tried to break Taylor before the Speak Now World Tour, they tried to break Taylor again immediately after the 1989 World Tour, and then again before and during the reputation Stadium Tour, and yet again before and during the Eras World Tour; and it always involves gaslighting and setting Taylor and her Swifties up in ways that are meant to squash, dampen, and extinguish their relationship and connection with each other and eliminate the presence and power of love on Earth.

The MAGA NFL and MAGA Kansas City Chiefs situation is supposed to show the Swifties that Taylor betrayed them by "switching to the other side," "poisoning the well," and having them pay to exterminate, erase, and enslave themselves. Now it makes perfect sense of why Taylor has been avoiding the Super Bowl for so long. It's an endless war of hate vs. love.

Hey i'm back with another critical post and rant guys, it’s incredibly hilarious that some people thought your freedom from your slavers and oppressor can ONLY/ALWAYS HAVE to be won by peaceful and nice way, the fucking truth is you can’t be nice towards people who enslaved your people, you can’t just ask nicely and beg people who brutalized your people and taking advantages of your people to stop treating you less than how they treated their dog.Yes peaceful protest and peaceful method will always be an important part and one of the most idealistic way for the marginalized group /the oppressed to win their rights and freedom, WHEN PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO LISTEN. It seems like some people in the fandom tried to judge the struggle of minority and oppressed group in thedas with modern values and perspective, some people are so angry when a former slave like Fenris and Anders or even people like Briala (she’s actually more privileged than Fenris and Anders or many other elves out there, but, she is still an elven woman in Orlais court) tried to win the freedom and rights of their people through violence. It’s understable if you prefer to see changes throughout peaceful way IF there are instrument and agency that can help the oppressed to win their fucking rights, and helping to make changes to happen peacefully. But if the privileged and powerful choose to eliminate any kind of way for the oppressed to win their rights peacefully and for peaceful changes? What the fuck did you expected then? Hell yeah of course the brutalized people will rebelled !

You know the chantry, nations in Thedas, seeker and templar never allowed for people they enslaved and oppressed to win their rights and freedom peacefully, because those asshole piece of shit people reaped benefits from SLAVERY. Some people cannot accept the fact that sometimes change and your freedom and rights cannot be achieved with peaceful way, because the ruling class/majority tried to make it impossible for the oppressed to let’s say have access to information, have access to education, vote or even saying their opinion at all (or access to many place that other people can access or even going outside of their prison tower like what happened to the mages and elves before their successful rebellion!) There are people who can’t just accept the fact and confront the reality that the world and life is cruel especially towards oppressed people and minority, a lot of times the only way for them to make people listened to them and respecting their freedom and rights is throughout rebellion /war and bloody violence.

Here, have 4.5 pages of rambly Tuon meta. I wrote this to try to get a handle on Tuon’s character, and to develop the theoretical framework for a redemption arc for her. I’m hoping posting this doesn’t cut my motivation to actually write it...

Who is Tuon? Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag, High Lady, Daughter of the Nine Moons; now the Empress of Seanchan (at least on the westlands side), Fortuona Athaem Kore Paendrag. To borrow some phrasing and framing from @websandwhiskers: She’s the pinnacle of Seanchan culture and an extremely functional tool of the state; responsible (both personally and institutionally) for psychologically and physically torturing people and enslaving them; she also has some compelling moral and personal qualities that she and the state have not yet managed to quash, which kind of makes it all worse, ethically speaking. She’s a villain whom the original narrative neither sufficiently condemns nor sufficiently redeems, married to one of the Big Damn Heroes in a match that’s both very odd couple and very complementary.

She respects people who stand up to her, as long as they aren't 'disrespectful' in the process- and the 'disrespect' is very situational, she'll accept things in private or in non-court settings that she can't let slide in court without losing face and therefore power. She cares very much about the legitimacy of authority, because it correlates positively with stability and is ingrained in her self-image, but she has an autocrat’s idea of what is legitimate. She assumes you know your own self-worth in relation to hers and are prepared to both display it and back it up. She has also internalized that other people's challenges of her are opportunities for her to prove her strength and fitness to rule, and she probably low-key seeks to provoke reactions now as validation/training, for herself and others.

She has rigid moral standards within the context she was raised in, and punishes herself first for perceived failure because if she does it first, perhaps she can avoid someone else doing it, with deadlier results. She has never been allowed to be less than perfect by her culture's standards- she can be (and has been) odd, but she cannot be flawed- and possibly expends all of her natural empathy on others instead of herself, because she can't afford that kind of indulgence herself, but she knows she owes it to lesser beings?

And as @websandwhiskers pointed out, she does have a lot of empathy within allowable contexts, and I think she is willing to push the envelope compared to her peers as long as she/the empire isn't directly threatened. That's what the kiss after Mat let the poisonous snake go was about. The snake was poisonous but not attacking, and not likely to attack unless someone escalated the situation, and Mat deescalated it. No harm, no foul. Mat responded to a fraught situation both logically and mercifully, in the way she imagined she would have if she had been in his shoes and known he same facts he did, and she rewarded him.

She’s competent and charismatic; I hesitate to say that she inspires loyalty in underlings because honestly with the damane it’s brainwashing (eurgh). But Selucia and Karede are both really into her, personally, even when there are societal inducements not to play favorites. Mat is loyal to her, though honestly Mat is loyal to like... anyone he’s responsible for, so maybe it’s more relevant to say that Mat genuinely likes her; at least, he likes the person he thinks he can coax out of her, and in terms of the persona she has more typically, I think he responds well to her competency and self-possession. The ability to project those things is probably a big part of what goes into charisma.

She thinks that the people who oppose her just don't have all the facts. She doesn't like to admit she's changed her mind; it looks like weakness; she's fine identifying it in others but not herself. Ideally she would pretend things have always been the way she now knows they are, and if she can't, she goes for the "Yes [fact], but [here's what I've decided is now germane to the argument at hand]." redefinition of the problem. She always thinks she’s right, though she does tend to leave some space between when she’s decided something and when she promulgates the decision, to allow for opposing arguments.

I think the original relationship Tuon has with omens is that she uses them to look for external justification from the universe for decisions she's already made. (I mostly like Sanderson's Tuon POVs, but I also I think Sanderson sometimes used omens as a 'make Tuon do OOC things for the plot' card.) Tuon's running dialogue with omens also shows that she's always observing the world and interpreting her effect on it and its effect on her. She loses her composure with omens when they are more concrete and less subject to her control (via interpretation), as with Lidya's fortune.

It makes sense that she's super controlling. It was how she was raised, and aside from having loyal/brainwashed companions (who are, themselves, a form of distributed control), being controlling is obviously the only thing that makes her feel safe. It's still interesting how it extends into a dialogue with the Pattern itself. Like Mat, she wants to survive and she wants to go her own way, and also like Mat she's caught up in the Pattern a little more tightly than others. I think she and Mat have both subconsciously decided that the only way to deal with what the universe wants you to do, when the universe is that powerful, is to say "Fine, I didn't really want to do that other thing anyway, let's learn how this path works and play to win."

She knows she makes bad decisions when angry, and I think in general she distrusts strong emotions, or at least tries to hold them at arms' length so they don't form part of her judgment. She's very very good at compartmentalizing, but as a result sometimes emotional stuff will come up and blindside her a little because she doesn't prioritize it or see it as a natural part of her decision-making. I think her emotions do influence her, usually subconsciously, but she's obviously a Thinking type. (Mat is also a compartmentalizer, but more somatic/emotionally focused; he's got his feelings directly wired into his body and together they make decisions that his brain then evaluates a second later, with running commentary that he never expresses to anyone else. They are both comedically un-self-aware, although Tuon is even less self-aware than Mat is, since at least on some level Mat knows he's been repeatedly traumatized even if he tries to pretend he isn't, while Tuon still thinks that her childhood was completely fine.)

Within the original narrative, I think her POVs are always a bit mysterious and her actions are always a little surprising. What’s impressive about that is that this is basically *always* true no matter what setting she’s in and what she’s doing. When you’re in her head you see her thought process ticking away, but RJ and Sanderson both have her constantly withholding important contextual details in her POVs, like Lidya’s prophecy (the hints are there and come out in bits and pieces, but she doesn’t reveal everything and slot it into context until 2 books later). Like with reading Mat, you’re aware that she obviously has reasons for what she’s doing and you even see her decision-making process, but because you’re missing the details, she remains opaque even though you’re in her head. (Mat’s decision-making process is more clear to the reader, but somewhat opaque to himself and definitely opaque to those around him.)

Meanwhile the things Tuon does share via narration or via action are always kind of buck-wild for the reader because her entire deal is such a culture shock. She’s obviously surprising Mat & co, but what’s weird is that she also seems to be constantly surprising her fellow Seanchan. Her scenes with her peers are usually punctuated with shocked murmuring in the background. They have trouble anticipating her, both because she keeps her cards close to her chest, and I also think because she’s a slightly different person from the one who lived her entire life in a cloistered murdersphere in Seanchan, and if she wasn’t a different person after leaving home, she’s definitely one after her kidnapping. But I think she is a fundamentally different person after leaving home, because of the structural parallels she has with Mat.

In Mat’s first POV chapter, he wakes up in Tar Valon with partial amnesia and a much stronger sense of self-preservation than he had before. As everybodyhatesrand points out (crediting but not tagging them since I feel like they wouldn’t appreciate being tagged in Tuon apologia), we have never been in pre-dagger!Mat’s head. We have never been in dagger!Mat’s head. Everyone in the books, throughout the books, is like “At least Mat’s still the same!” and yeah, he does do and say more or less the same things before and after the dagger. But we had to take it on faith that his personality is more or less intact pre- and post-dagger because we, the readers, only know post-dagger!Mat’s inner monologues. The Mat we inhabit in book 3? He’s been broken. The continuity between his old life and his new life has been disrupted (and will continue to be disrupted, including with an actual literal timeline reboot!) He immediately starts off to fix himself, others, and then eventually the world, so it’s motivating, but the hits really just keep coming...

Like Mat, Tuon’s first POV only appears after she’s left the traumatic environment that shaped her. We don’t know what travelling across the sea did to her sense of self (and we can’t really know since we don’t have that in-Seanchan-baseline), though we do know she’s changed after travelling with Mat (aside from catching feelings, I think she learned that the Seanchan are not always in possession of all the facts), and we know what becoming Empress did to her (she doubled down on duty and lost a lot of personal flexibility). I think there are major structural parallels between Mat and Tuon’s POVs because they’re both broken people who try their very best to act as if they are not broken. In Tuon’s case I think she just doesn’t know how broken she is. In Mat’s case, he knows, but he’s doing a weird balancing act of integrating lessons learned (healing!) while also, like, frantically trying to ignore or drown out the emotional cost of trauma (not healing!)

By the end of the series I think Tuon knows, but is not letting herself actually think, that being made damane is a) a real possibility for her, specifically, and b) that it is not, in fact, something she would willingly choose for herself even to serve the empire. I think this is different from the more intellectual disgust of the idea of herself channeling; that's abstract, and she imagines there's an actual choice for the person with the spark between channeling and not channeling, or possibly that there's an actual choice between learning to channel vs not learning to channel if you have the spark inborn. (We know that the actual choice if you have the spark is 'learn to channel properly or die'.) Tuon's out there like "If I were a marath'damane I would simply choose not to channel. RIP to marath'damane but I'm different".

She's never been a marath'damane in the sense of someone who started channeling involuntarily, and isn't interested in imagining herself as one, at least not when confronted by someone who is succeeding in making her angry. So even if you made her choose, as a theoretical marath'damane, between dying and learning to channel properly, I think she'd consider 'learning to channel properly' as 'becoming a murderer' and therefore the choice would be between dying and becoming a murderer. There's a clear argument to be made in that idiom that the marath'damane is 'becoming a murderer' in self-defense, which would have a different moral tenor (manslaughter vs murder). But Tuon strikes me as the type to say in an argument (and probably believe) that "The end result is the same & I would die before compromising my principles.”

I think in the confrontation with Egwene she probably internally justified not putting the collar on because there was a Seanchan audience and because the taunt came from an escaped damane, even though the actual reason was fear that it would work. She’s letting the circumstances invalidate the argument so she doesn’t have to think about it. I think if she were to let herself think about the authentic emotional response- and she probably has, I feel like she does a postmortem on all of her public discomposure- she would consciously know that her instinct was that it would work on her, and furthermore she would know that she does not want to be damane, even if the Empire would require her to be.

If she followed out the chain of reasoning, she’d know that if she were a damane, if she were actually leashed, she would be forced to channel. She’d know because she’s taken great pleasure in training and breaking damane, and she knows how to get damane to channel and how to break them. Therefore, if she were damane, she would know that she would need to be broken, and she knows how she would go about breaking herself. She probably thinks that her last act of free will would be to suicide if she possibly could. But I think that what she’s AFRAID OF is that she would actually convince herself that being the very best damane is all she wants out of life. And that's the scary, universe-ending thought she's avoiding the consequences of, because a) it’s about breaking herself (as Cadsuane points out, no one can easily think about breaking themselves) and b) the fact that she would need to be broken and that she doesn’t like the idea is a sign that she’s not the perfect avatar of the Empire that she thinks she should be.

I think becoming damane has been added- in the bare abstract- to her mental list of the price of failure. It's a very fundamental loss of control and identity, where all she has is resignation and brainwashing that- best case scenario- she does to herself. She's scared of it in a way she was not before, now that it's been made personal. Like Mat, she's going to shove that down deep and ignore the bad scary implications as long as she can, up until the point that they actually disable her or otherwise bleed out into her intellectual or physical world in ways that aren't as ignorable.

But while Tuon thinks she would die before compromising her principles, and even more secretly is extremely afraid that she *wouldn't*, I also think that like Mat, if it came down to it she would transform herself radically to survive *as herself*.

She’d realize that she has other principles, more human ones, underlying her socially acceptable and externally imposed principles of enforcing hierarchy and maintaining personal integrity. (Parallels to dagger!Mat being exorcised?) I think her basic motivations are that she should survive, that she should retain as much control/power over her own fate as possible, and that she should make decisions from a place of empathy rather than anger or fear. I think she would also realize that she does in fact value some principles over others. She would redefine the meaning of ‘personal integrity’ to separate it from what the state wants.

If she knew what was really driving her socially acceptable principles, and that there was a difference between what she really, fundamentally wanted & what she had been told to want, with encouragement she could prioritize the organic, primal ones and apply those to the external world. If she is a person, then everyone else is a person, and she should want for them what she wants for herself. I think she might get to the point of realizing there is an alternative path (of what looks like selfishness) but I don't think she's going to let herself be selfish (in this healing, positive way) without external prompting/confirmation, so this is probably where friends, positive role models, and finally omens come in.

This explains well what I've been seeing... since season 2. I've desperate to ship Jemma with someone else because... she needs a person to be there for her when the team, and the whole universe, obviously isn't. It breaks my heart watching her get guilt-ed into this relationships, which with how the love triangle ended and how everyone we saw talk about it was saying "Team Fitz!" it's always going to feel like Jemma is with him romantically because she was told if she-

cared about him at all she HAD to be. Now with season 5 it's just even more abusive and painful. People call Jemma a bad friend to Daisy because of the Fitz thing but... Daisy pushed Jemma into believing she HAD to take care of Fitz above everything just as much as anyone else did. Feeling it now... no wonder I've been mad at Daisy, for all people are calling it a betrayal it just feels like those "you two are meant for each other!" chickens came home to roost... :(

oh look, this is one of those things in which I half respectfully disagree and half agree so much and it’s a very complicate place for me to be in lol

I’ll explain:

I believe Jemma is in love with Fitz, and that s2 represented a person who is demiromantic/almost aromantic (possibly because I’m aro) who has a hard time distinguishing the enormous love felt for a friend from the loving love felt for a potential boyfriend, and that in the end she was able to sort it out. Even just because Jemma is a character of those writers who say they are in love, but generally speaking, I can totally go for that. Like, when they made up at the end of s2 and Jemma brought up what he said at the bottom of the ocean, he told her they didn’t need to talk about that, he was going to be her friend and that’s it. And she insisted, because she felt it. And in Maveth she made herself go on talking about the date, fantasizing, hoping she’d be home soon.

Later, they were back to being just friends in season 3b, she could have kept things that way, but she once again started asking for more because she was ready, with Fitz not being sure if it was a good idea or not, but then she assured him they had waited long enough.

(You don’t see it that way and that’s totally fine, just a reminder that I’m not going to fight you on it, just express my opinion lol)

BUT. But that makes things so much worse to me.

Because if you look at it from my point of view, the point of view of Jemma being in love with him, this is... literally what happened to many women I know. They are/were in love, and their boyfriend loved them, but in some cases they didn’t get along that well or the boyfriend did something not okay or the women were simply in need of a break for some reason, or actually weren’t happy, and the fact that they were ‘in love’ felt reason enough to NOT ever take breaks or put themselves first, not ever give up (because if you are in love you gotta stick with him even when you are breaking down too, apparently) so for me, in this context, even without the constant cheerleaders of the ship reminding her they belong together, if Jemma had needed a break in s5 or after s4... she wouldn’t have been able to take it, because she also feels extreme guilt in general, and s2 did happen with her ‘leaving’ and Fitz ‘breaking’, so in good conscience how can she leave him? If you love someone you are supposed to put aside your ‘less painful’ problems to focus on theirs (I disagree with that but that’s what the world often says), and Jemma, who always minimizes her problem and has a boyfriend who just went through brainwashing, a fake life in which he was turned into a sociopath, his brain damage, the depression and guilt he had from before, and now a psychic split and his in a cell, has no real choice but to put aside all the violence that has been inflicted on her because she has a better handle on it, and just make sure he’s okay. That’s what ‘people in love do’. If she needs to go, it’s abandonment.

But THEN you add the fact that while she was at least TRYING to think about how she felt, for once in her life, and she had 2 different people remind her she can make Fitz happy, they are in love and they should stick together, and BYE to the chance for her to take a break.

It hit home for me. Because I don’t know people who were pushed into a relationship by friends, but I definitely know people who are in love with someone and they reached all a point in which they needed a break but didn’t feel it was even an option because they are in love with them (in Jemma’s case a break would be needed because she’s incredibly traumatized too, and because hey, maybe she also needs to feel safe until his mental illness gets treated because 1) he can’t be responsible for his actions, he could think he’s saving her life while violating her body autonomy next, it’s not because he’s evil, but his morality has changed and he’s hearing voices and the show decided to portray it as the kind of mental illness that brings you to do things like tying your friend to a table and cutting her neck, without even trying to discuss with her about the fact that her inhibitor could lead to the end of the world - which btw thank you for portraying a mental illness as a reason for someone to be that dangerous and threatening. As if real life people don’t have enough problems with their mental illnesses being used to villainize them 2) Jemma has seen herself get physically harmed by TWO Fitzes: a LMD one, and her brainwashed real one. And then saw real Fitz operate on Daisy. It would be okay to feel unsafe. Especially since he was very detached from reality when he was doing it. It’s not about love or not love if she decides not to walk in his room, he can think he’s in control and not be, he’s not getting any professional help, no therapy, no meds. He’s trapped in a room. so yes, it would be okay if Jemma wanted a break from Fitz because she has all kinds of reasons

and It’s not like Fitz, in the middle of, you know, hallucinating and having facial expressions that didn’t match his feelings, which is also a very big sign of not being Okay, wasn’t chill about the gun pointed at Jemma by the robot, assuming she wouldn’t move, and while she didn’t because hey, how would that help Daisy? She’d need to be dragged out and patched up immediately, a bullet in the leg is not a joke. She could still have snapped, as a former torture victim, and jerked forward and gotten herself shot and then what)

so like i said, for me it hits home more to think that she’s in love, and that she WANTS to be there for him and she’s been taught by the world that when you love someone you absolutely can’t leave them even if your mental health is going to hell, and that is exactly what I see happening to women I know

and having 45 friends tell her that she can help him, that she has to understand him, that in a potential future she DID help him, and that is a direct response to her expressing distress too, not even to her asking for advice, sure as hell didn’t help her make any other decision.

so while for you it’s a situation of: she was already pushed to be with him and to be responsible for him, and she’ll never be free, for me it’s a she loves him, feels responsible and has the whole world confirm to her that it’s her responsibility and in her abilities to make him okay. In both cases, instead of a ‘well, it sucks that you were physically and emotionally tortured, gaslighted, traumatized, enslaved, and all that, but instead of telling you that you should try to take a break as soon as the end of the world doesn’t happen and get some therapy and time for yourself while he does too, and then you can both decide if you two can be together, and you can also support him from afar and he’ll support you, we will help him too so you don’t have to worry about him, and we will help you too, so don’t worry about that now’ we get a ‘well, it sucks that you were physically and emotionally tortured, gaslighted, traumatized, enslaved, but don’t worry, you can help Fitz anyway so find your happiness in the fact that you two love each other and can conquer everything’.

as for Daisy, here’s the other thing: the ONLY acceptable and vaguely normal option for me would have been Jemma feeling torn between the two and yes, ultimately she’d have wanted to get Fitz out of his cell and have his help when they went to destroy the particle accelerator, she did disagree with Daisy’s sole focus on Coulson. Because Daisy IS her friend, because what happened WAS traumatizing to see too, hell, it was traumatizing for viewers, and it was just weird that Jemma wasn’t shown empathetic at all. That’s what makes me angry at her. The complete lack of softness when dealing with Daisy. Daisy is the only person who always checked on Jemma, at least once a season, even if Jemma never really answered to her ‘are you okay’s in a truthful way except maybe in the deleted s2 scene.

However, the complete lack of care in that direction can also be read as Jemma being so broken and desperate that she had to choose one way to go (be on Fitz’s side) and be blind to everything else because if she doubts herself, if she lets herself be unsure of what to do for a second, she will fall apart completely. She had to give full focus to Fitz, and ignore Daisy’s pain because in her head they’d have to eventually be okay again, all of them, and recognizing how Daisy felt would mean also recognizing how fucked up it all was, and how fucked up she is and Fitz is. So it’s also a sign of unhealthy response and not just bad friendship (except that the writers didn’t think of it so deeply, in the writers’ mind it was just a woman in love choosing her husband because she did think they had no other choice and Daisy had to eventually accept that it was either that or the fear dimension taking over the world. Nothing else. If I think the way the writers did, it is bad friendship. Because as an aro person -but there are plenty non aro people who feel the same - a best friend can be just as important as your husband and you can be torn between them).

Daisy did, often, brought up how Jemma can be Fitz’s salvation though. So while she didn’t in season 5... it is also a fruit of Daisy’s labor if Jemma feels like she can make Fitz feel better out of her sheer stubbornness. To be fair, when Daisy reassures Jemma that she and Fitz belong together, it’s because Jemma is spiraling down thinking Fitz is dead or gone for good. I would have done the same. But it wouldn’t cross my mind to bring that up when Jemma doesn’t know what to do about her relationship after 5x14 because she’s not thinking Fitz is dead and because?? it’s not good for her???

so... summing it up:

-in my case, I feel like Jemma does love Fitz, which just adds up to the narrative that she cannot put herself first in this, and it’s also the same narrative fed to people since forever and that fucks up so many real people in real life, and hurts me even more because god, she’ll never take care of herself. Never. -She had too many people insist that she was responsible for Fitz’s mental health and happiness all by herself, in good and bad ways. It stuck. -I can understand why Daisy would not trust her. I can understand why Mack was pissed at the very traumatic pretend-to-have-drank-acid moment, but... in Mack’s case, while he has all reason to feel betrayed, and while he was angrier at Elena and Fitz than he was at Jemma since their interactions were pretty normal after that, he DID basically tell Jemma that she had to see things from Fitz’s point of view. -Jemma’s arc could have easily been shown as Jemma losing her mind and needing to desperately focus on Fitz, unhealthily so, and it’s like a ‘remember your mental health is important too even when your loved ones aren’t feeling well or you might end up breaking yourself’ kind of story, except that’s not what the writers wanted to write -there is NOTHING that can be done now. It’s just too late for Jemma to have an actual storyline. Anything she does has to be done keeping in mind what happened last time Fitz was stressed out. and anyway it would even be weird, she never reacted to anything because the writers didn’t care enough, it wasn’t even a thing about her being in character, it just wasn’t important enough. -regardless of you liking her story with Will and me not liking it (but I’m not going to focus on that, i’m just bringing it up because it shows a pattern), it’s clear that the writers have a thing for Jemma having to give hope (it was supposed to be like a game between her and Will, but the writers were like ‘you know what, we’ll just keep her doing that with everybody all the time forever’), no matter what she’s going through and no matter who the boyfriend is, it’s been like that with Fitz in s2, partly, when people in shield and people in the fandom expected her to be this machine who could constantly support him, it’s been like that during her brief time in Maveth with Will in s3, four months of constant hoping while being told it couldn’t work and then, believing she was stuck there, she still tried to be super cheerful right away and see every bright side possible, then again with Fitz in s4 and s5, and she even have never-ending hope with Elena; Jemma is meant to be a woman who has to hang on and give hope, and the few times she couldn’t take it anymore, whether leaving SHIELD (to go undercover) because she thought it was best for Fitz, or leaving Will behind in Maveth, or putting herself first once and letting Lash out of his pod so she could escape, she’s been punished in and out of universe so violently that I could never blame her for going to ‘drinking acid’ levels of obsessed with ‘believing in someone’ and ‘wanting to think they are invincible’. I can pity her, and I can hate the fact that a character was changed this much because that is NOT who she was in s1, and she was also resisting it in s2, she wasn’t unnaturally hopeful, she needed Fitz to give her hope during FZZT too, she was immediately full on hating Ward and fighting the pain of his betrayal with anger, she lost hope in s2 too, she was NORMAL, realistic, but the moment the writers decided she was going to date they started making her more... typical. they also saw how much people loved Iain’s performance in s2 so they decided that he’d be constantly suffering. If you put the character they chose to be the Hopeful one and the one they want to hurt all the time together, what’s going to happen? That he will be constantly shown hurting, have horrible things happen to him, and he’ll react like a normal person and break, and that she’ll be relegated to the role of giving him hope and being supportive, suffering over the consequences of what he’s going through too but not allowed to show it. Also perpetuating stereotypes that are especially harmful to women, since they are the ones most often expected to endure and be supportive and stay with the man they love no matter if they are suffering or not.

Mind you, because of my... family situation and chronic illnesses and various messes, I’m very much a Hope person. Sees the bright side, laughs things off, constantly supporting my loved ones, exactly like Jemma, but 1 I break every now and then and get all kinds of support from those people 2 nobody is there telling me I have to take care of my loved ones when I clearly can’t 3 if anybody told me that someone’s health depended on me I’d have an immediate breakdown but also tell them to go to hell because that’s not how it works at all 4 I have some people who don’t need me as hope and we just have a good time together 5 I’m not violently traumatized once a month and demand time and space whenever I need it. I’m about to post the last post of my meta about how stereotypical FS became and this reply to you ended up being longer than that lmao

(you ship WillJemma, said you were desperate to ship her with someone who is there for her, that is also why when I write with my friends I ship Jemma with Hunter instead, totally building it out of nowhere so we can do what we want lmao the one person she never had an argument with, never judged her for leaving in s2 not even behind her back, who really wanted to be there for his loved one and support her and all he asked was to be let in. But that’s in roleplaying where everything can make sense and we change the plot. But also hey, I can ship AU FS in which they actually talked about all their problems in s2 and kept supporting EACH OTHER and he adores how weird she is, which is a trait that stayed, and he gets therapy, and she gets therapy which is mentioned to have happened maybe in between seasons, and they are both equally excited to be together instead of him obsessing over her protection and them being in completely different places in their relationship, and she gets to break and to have her own arcs. Need me a ship like THAT. Where they both seem to be having fun together and TALK to each other

I need a ship where NO ONE is put on a pedestal, where he doesn’t think he’s not worthy of her and focuses on protecting her and hides things from her so she doesn’t have to worry about him, where instead they are both working on a relationship and love each other and talk to each other, and they both want the same things because otherwise Jemma is the only one working on the present happiness and alone in the relationship. They put each other first up to a certain level, but they know when they can retreat or say ‘this is too much’ and take a step back.)

10 Theories/Wishes for the Upcoming War between the humans and the Ignises.

I’ve seen people posting their theories/wishes as of late for what they think is going to happen in the upcoming war between humanity vs the Ignises in Vrains. At the time of writing this, we still don’t know what’s to come after the Playmaker vs Bohman duel so I feel like this is the perfect time to give out my list of what I think we are going to be see coming up as well as some personal wishes of mine that I hope will come to forwishen. Just as a side note, none of these are in chronological order unless stated otherwise nor in a top 10 order from least to greatest (they are seriously just randomized).

1. Bohman joining Yusaku/Playmaker’s side/gets deleted.

Considering this is going to be their third duel of the season, I feel like this has to be the point where we finally learn what the deal is up with Bohman, and maybe Haru, and after Bohman loses, because there is no way in hell he’s going to win with Playmaker getting his Synchro more then likely in this duel, I think Lightning might just finally deem him a failure and just throws him away which in turn will allow him to join Playmaker’s side, since Yusaku would be the one to free him from Lightning’s control, or Lightning will just terminate him all together if he really is just an A.I. he created to serve him.

2. Spectre vs Takeru/Soulburner.

If episode 70 wasn’t hinting at a potential Spectre vs Soulburner in the future, I’ll be very surprised. Considering they are both Lost Children as well, this duel will be very interesting from that standpoint. It appears that Yusaku told Takeru about the Knights but we still don’t have confirmation if Takeru knows that Spectre is also a Lost Child and if he doesn’t know that detail, Spectre will inform him soon enough. And when Takeru does find out/already knows, how he will duel knowing that detail is what I’m mostly intrigued about. Like will he try to talk Spectre into siding with their cause of co-exist with the Ignises since he is also a Lost Child or just simply see him as an enemy he has to defeat in order to protect Flame?

3. Dr. Kogami making his return.

I’ve seen some people talking about this, of how Lightning might actually bring Kogami back from the dead and honestly, I can see it happening. Not like actually bringing Dr. Kogami back from the dead but creating an artificial copy of him with his memories (cause Lightning and his memory powers and all) to serve him. And if this is the case, oh boy hello “we are going to traumatize the hell out of Ryoken” with this plot line. After all the crap Windy said to Revolver during their duel, you know that is what Lightning is going to have his copy of Kogami due to his “son” in what I’m going to guess a future Revolver vs Dr. Kogami duel. I’m hoping that if we do get this duel, this will also be the point where Ryoken will finally get redeemed and finally stop being his father’s weapon and start thinking for himself and what he wants, not what his father wants. Just so much good character development for Ryoken all around if Kogami actually does make a return, which again I can see happening at least since he is such an important character in all of this.

4. Ryoken/Revolver vs Takeru/Soulburner.

Look, you all know I want this duel. I never shut up about it so I’ll make this quick. They have a very high likelihood of dueling with Takeru being in possession of Flame and considering that Ryoken was the one to save Takeru from the Hanoi Project, if Yusaku told Takeru that or not remains to be seen, I want to see Takeru’s reaction to that info. Mostly I just want to see the albinos kill each other and to see Yusaku try and stop this duel and fail miserably.

5. Takeru/Soulburner getting Brainwashed by Lightning.

Look, the best friend character of the main protagonist of a Yu-Gi-Oh series always has something bad happen to them so they end up turning evil and in turn face off against the protagonist in a heartwrenching battle. Jonouchi got mind controlled, Johan got possessed, Bruno was an android, Vector was Vector, and Sora was a mole. Takeru is not in a ideal position right now, especially considering that Lightning can rewrite memories and rewrite Flame’s code to make him loyal to his kin. I see us getting a Soulburner vs Lightning duel in the future with Lightning just out right destroying him and once he wins, he will rewrite Flame’s code and through him, or just messing with Takeru’s memories, turn Soulburner into one of their solders for their war just like how Lightning did with Jin (from the looks of things anyway. Jin definitely doesn’t look like he’s doing this of his own free will). If that’s the guess, I’ve talked about this before, but this should in turn lead into a Playmaker vs Soulburner duel with what I’m hoping to be Soulburner kicking Playmaker’s ass, Yusaku getting brainwashed, Revolver comes in to beat Playmaker to unbrainwash him, and then Playmaker can go back free Soulburner from Lightning’s control. I don’t think that would actually happen but case and point, Takeru is kinda f*cked at the moment if the past has taught us anything.

6. Kusanagi’s betrayal.

Yeah...after that Jin reveal, it is only a matter of time before Kusanagi just out right snaps and leaves Yusaku. Maybe it is because he blames him or it is because Lightning is a manipulative bastard and will use Jin to drive a wedge between them, who knows at the current moment. Regardless of what causes it, I am interested to know what will happen when the split happens. If Takeru gets brainwashed and Ai gets captured as well, Yusaku will be left completely alone again like he was before he teamed up with Kusanagi and who knows what will happen to his psyche because of it. Yeah okay there is Ryoken but I doubt Yusaku will join the Knights if everyone leaves him for Lightning or maybe he will (that be a plot twist right there). Either way, I’m ready for the snap and to see what comes from it.

7. Meeting Windy/Aqua’s Lost Children and Aqua.

I’m still very adamant that Windy’s kid isn’t dead and I’ve seen some people suggest that Go’s secret mission by Akira is to find the last two Lost Children. I think that would be such a good use of his character at the moment and give him some good development as well, since he was the one that was throwing a tantrum and comparing his upbringing to what the Lost Children had to go through during the Hanoi Project. It would definitely be a eye opener for him if he got to see first hand the effects of what the Hanoi Project did to these last two children, especially Windy’s kid who god knows what condition he’s in now after what Windy did to him. As for Aqua, I feel like this would be the perfect opportunity to get Aoi and Emma involved in the plot again if Akira sent them to find her, similar to how Go would be trying to find the final children. If Aqua is actually with her human, that would be even better. Have Go get some development through Windy’s kid and have Aoi through Aqua’s kid, if you know, Aoi isn’t actually Aqua’s kid (cause I’m still waiting for the writers to throw that plot twist at us).

8. Earth and Spectre meeting up.

Since it is all but confirmed at this point that Spectre and Earth are partners, those two should be meeting up soon which is going to be really interesting, especially if Earth decides he wants to side with the humans and actually goes to Spectre, asking for his help in trying to co-exist with humans. I’ve talked about this before but this would be such good character development for Spectre if he actually decides to go against his own group’s goal and tries to protect Earth (and only just Earth. He doesn’t care about the other Ignises, its just that no one is allowed to hurt his). It would also be interesting from the other side of the conflict as well, if Earth decides to side with Lightning which could lead to a Spectre vs Earth duel. Regardless of who wins that duel, since I can see it going either way at the moment, I don’t think the victor will end up killing, in Spectre’ case, or enslaving, in Earth’s case, the other. I still see them teaming up to bring this war to an end since they each might have learned something from the other during that duel.

9. Yusaku/Playmaker and Ryoken/Revolver teaming up.

Regardless if you like Datastormshipping or not, Ryoken is still Yusaku’s main rival of the series and like many Yu-Gi-Oh series before them, they are going to team up against a common enemy, that being Lightning in this case (I would love Takeru to also be apart of this duel as well but I really think it might just be Playmaker and Revolver teaming up to beat Lightning/Jin if he is still under Lightning’s control during this duel). We have yet to get a tag duel for Vrains and just think of how epic this team up would be. I would love to see some kind of fusion (an actual Fusion Monster or just a combination of the two in Link form) of Firewall Dragon and Borreload Dragon. Don’t think that would actually happen knowing Firewall’s history and all but still, this team up would probably bring us one of/if not the best duel of in all of Vrains.

10. Emma and Kengo’s backstory.

Not completely related to the war but come on, what the hell is their backstory together? If Go can get some development through Windy’s kid and Aoi through Aqua’s, Emma needs some development as well through Kengo and considering we still don’t know what happened to Ghost Girl at the end of 63, I’m hoping that when we do find out what happened to her, it is when we get the full backstory of these two. Like instead of shooting her, Blood Shepherd says something to her, like call Ghost Girl “Emma” again, and she calls him out on it, making him finally explain to her their past together. Maybe that’s why we haven’t seen Emma for a while? She’s so shaken up about what BS told her that she hasn’t been able to work and such. Kinda a long shot on that one but seriously, I just want all of the original cast of characters from season 1, the really important ones anyway, to get some kind of development through the new characters that haven’t already as I’ve talked about above.

notes about a potential second main verse with Jemma not dating Fitz and my headcanons (or at least not by default, but it can be changed at any point in time by diverging from it) so basically it’s like a canon base in this blog, any thread and new verse with a rper can change the next events or bring Jemma to be better or worse. -in case of her interacting with an AU Ward of any sort, there are a few more differences too, including Will!Hive which is horrifying and welcomed. Any new ship will have to deal with her complete lack of experience in normal romantic relationships.

season 1 -same up until the end except Fitz doesn’t confess his feelings -also she exercises a lot to be fit, because it’s healthy and ‘just in case’

“A knife... I hope this doesn’t awaken anything in me” Jemma Simmons,1x17

season 2 -training pre-undercover involves guns

“Step. Away. From the beer” Jemma Simmons, 2x03 -she leaves for the same reason, obviously Mack and Hunter won’t know her as the one who left because she didn’t love Fitz, Fitz can just say his best friend left because he was different -PTSD, survivor guilt as hell, flashbacks, anger issues -totally Down For Murder, introjects disapproval and sees herself as the bad apple of the shield family, would like to sacrifice herself, feels a Failure for not saving Trip and not knowing how to help Fitz, also has a major freak out when Skye shows sign of ‘infection’ because what if she loses her too -when she makes up with Fitz she doesn’t forget that the truth about Skye was hidden from her, that Fitz told her her change was scary, and adds it to the list of ‘reasons why I should just keep going with my murderous streak’ -takes her approximately 5 seconds to go from scared for Skye to Happy Mom Mode ‘did you make any friends’ once she’s told Skye will be just fine because she’s of a different specie and not about to break into fragments -feels nothing when she kills Bakshi since he was a hydra agent who brainwashed people, except for regret that she didn’t manage to kill Ward too (like promised)

“I have a lot of questions. Number one: how dare you?” Grant Ward, 2x19 -no ‘maybe there is’ moment with Fitz obviously season 3 -being a single woman who enjoys sex, but also stuck in a place with no precautions and very little hygiene, she has something with Will. She’s also not in love with him, there is more of a friends benefit situation there, but she cares for him, yet being Hope for months destroys her and she’ll always be sensitive about not wanting to be with someone who won’t meet her halfway with that -tortured by Giyera (burned) she doesn’t tell anyone who doesn’t already know and tries to medicate herself as much as she can, later in time Radcliffe will help with surgery. She’ll leave some scars as a reminder of how she failed again.

“Yikes” Holden Radcliffe, after s3 -keeps training because it would be crazy to keep working in a place where she’s constantly on the field where other people have to risk their lives to save her and not do her best to be self-sufficient -trains on throwing knives too, much more, after having thrown a ball for months to hit the same spot in the Maveth cave. She has unexpectedly strong arms too because of her pull ups and general exercising, so it’s thanks to that and her aim that she can attack the enemy with heavy objects, or toss a heavy lamp at Coulson’s head

“You are grounded” Phil Coulson, 3x22

-tries to get to the quinjet before Lincoln or Daisy can because she feels the reason Hive is on Earth, is immediately stopped by Mack -still has the habit of waking up and hitting/looking for a shiv when stressed out, it will never really leave. Always has weapons on herself, and the shiv when she sleeps. Tries not to fall asleep around people so they won’t know about nightmares.

season 4 -tells Fitz and only Fitz that she’s going to do her best to raise ranks because she doesn’t trust Mace -goes on a lot of missions because self-destructive and because she wants to find a way to help Daisy and people that SHIELD isn’t willing to help, she and the rest of the team spend a LOT of time apart -she still feels hurt when May buys that she’s Mace’s lapdog because she should know. The feeling that she’s different from the team grows. She’s not the good guy. -has stopped with the extra-politeness with most people, instead she’s deadpan, she’s in a bad mood almost all the time, she doesn’t talk much, she doesn’t trust anyone and only wants to protect the people she chose to protect (she does joke about taking over SHIELD. It’s a joke and an inside joke because she’s tricking Mace); she IS more talkative and sweet to the team

“Should have burned this place down when I had the chance” Jemma Simmons, 4x07 -helps Daisy at least by pretending she doesn’t know the meds for her arms are gone, trying to leave intel about watchdogs out, she UNDERSTANDS what it’s like to need to stay away from your loved ones because you feel like you are toxic to them, but hopes she’ll get to talk to Daisy about it because when she did it, it only broke Fitz further

“’I like following the rules’ my ass, you fucking liar” Daisy Johnson, 4x04

-looks for an apartment for herself away from the base (and a safehouse?) -traumas are just piling up but if she gets VERY CLOSE to someone again in those six months after s3, platonically or romantically, this is where she starts finding balance again. She needs a purpose and someone who gives her love and who doesn’t make her feel like she’s not good enough at giving it back -rest of the season is the same except Fitz is her bff and not her boyfriend, though in that case depending on how it’s plotted Aida might want him as a best friend too because that’s the example of Fitz at his best that she has. Depends on other rper too. season 5 -did you know being enslaved, deafened and used as a pretty object by a creepy alien with no concept of personal space and who owns you is traumatic?

-attempts to give hope speeches are weak, she’s very, very, very hurt. She only didn’t cut Kasius’ throat because he moved and regrets that too. -between creepy LMD Fitz, creepy Kasius and terrifying Doctor, she’s extra jumpy, flinches away from unexpected touch, doesn’t like many things that remind her of them, she’s one breath from breaking down. -Deke can be grandson of her and of whatever love interest she has, or simply hers and Fitz’s because they ‘found each other’ in that destroyed future even if they aren’t together now. Depending on the situation it can be pretty uncomfortable, tho. -she’s not a therapist and she has no idea of how to help Fitz when he breaks, but she can’t encourage him saying he did the right thing nor she can be mad at him if he’s mentally ill. She tries to focus on changing the future instead - even going against Daisy’s orders (then again, she went against any superior officer she’s ever had)(it’s like a confirm that Daisy is the boss) and taking Elena (and Deke?) with her to the particle accelerator -she still defends herself like Daisy is the one in the wrong because she’s an ass and won’t look sorry in the middle of an argument whether she is or not. If she hasn’t gotten into a better mental place, she’ll also prove the ‘we are invincible’ theory with the acid.

-Fitz dies or doesn’t . If he does, she’s going to fall apart and yes, look for the one in space, but she’s going to quit afterwards, especially if Fitz won’t want to quit too and go to therapy because she cannot be there next time he breaks or he dies. If he doesn’t die, she might stay or still leave, also for her own mental health. But she might still join someone like Bobbi or Hunter and be out there.
