Ok but we need to talk about how cute 1940's maternity clothes were/are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found photos and fashion between the 20's and 60's, so I hope I got the right pictures. But seriously, look at these clothes! I'd wear them, even if I wasn't pregnant! They look so comfortable ^^
If my research is correct, the reason why the clothes were more free flowing is because pregnancy was considered a 'taboo' subject. So the clothes were designed to make the woman look as slim as possible and not draw attention to her changing body. In some cases, I can see this being a good thing, but in others, I can see it being a bad thing.
It's good that the clothes are more loose and don't constrict the woman's body, not to mention some women might enjoy the extra privacy of hiding the baby bump (I know I would). On the other hand, it can promote shame for their changing body and the pregnancy itself. As seen in the Maternity Fashion Do's and Don'ts Guide I found underneath.

Again, this is if my limited research is correct. I could very easily be wrong. I just wanted to share my discovery with you guys.
On a happier note, please, please look at this photo of this expecting couple I found! They look so sweet together!!! And of course, her dress is on point!

I've mentioned my OC's wearing lingerie here and there. So here's the kind they would wear.
Was this an excuse to look up 30's-40's fashion? Maybe XD (hopefully I got the right images for these)
Poppy
Poppy's a tad more experienced, but she is still a modest woman, so I can't see her wearing anything too revealing. Even if she and her partner are going to get it on, she's keeping herself classy.
So, Poppy's choice in underwear is the chemise. It doesn't expose herself too much, so she still feels comfortable, but it also makes her feel hot while she lies in bed waiting for her partner. If she's feeling extra spicy, she might just wear a sheer chemise and leave even less to the imagination.

Betty
Betty isn't really experienced, but she is more confident in her body. Aside from the beginners hesitancy, she'd be proud of her body and wouldn't mind exposing more of herself.
So for Betty, she'd go with the classic bra and panties. Along with gartbelts and stockings to complete the look if she's feeling extra fancy, like it's an anniversary or something. She may be more curvy than the models in the magazines, but she doesn't care. She feels sexy, and she wants to be hot with her partner.
