"A story doesn't need a theme in order to be good" I'm only saying this once but a theme isn't some secret coded message an author weaves into a piece so that your English teacher can talk about Death or Family. A theme is a summary of an idea in the work. If the story is "Susan went grocery shopping and saw a weird bird" then it might have themes like 'birds don't belong in grocery stores' or 'nature is interesting and worth paying attention to' or 'small things can be worth hearing about.' Those could be the themes of the work. It doesn't matter if the author intended them or not, because reading is collaborative and the text gets its meaning from the reader (this is what "death of the author" means).
Every work has themes in it, and not just the ones your teachers made you read in high school. Stories that are bad or clearly not intended to have deep messages still have themes. It is inherent in being a story. All stories have themes, even if those themes are shallow, because stories are sentences connected together for the purpose of expressing ideas, and ideas are all that themes are.
as someone who detransitioned and now identifies as gnc i will never ever understand other detrans people who hate the trans community. like they loved you. they loved you when no one else would. i am forever grateful for the guys and dolls in my life personally. i will love them and fight alongside them until i die
Ineffable Husbands really is that ship that has it all. They’re married. They’re divorced. They’ve never been together at all. They’ve been pining for 6000 years. They’re gay except they’re also not at all. They're technically enemies to lovers but they’ve never been enemies nor lovers. Name any fanfic trope, they’ve probably been there, done that and they were entirely oblivious about it. Incredible ship.
PRAYING that barbie sweeps the oscars not because i have anything against oppenheimer but because one of the few joys in life is seeing film bros melt down when movies primarily made for women are lauded as serious and important works
“tits or ass” who am i to say that the sun is more beautiful than the moon? that the rain is more important than the sunshine? we must uplift both as treasures that enrich our lives, not as enemies to compete for our affections. but ass probably
