Buyers Beware - Andara "Crystals"
TLDR: It's glass slag with buzzwords sold for an iPad's worth of money.
Explanation and examples below the cut.
Archive of post.
Andara crystals are said to contain the prima-materia of alchemic fame, found by a Native shaman on a sacred site near a spiritual vortex, often claimed to be Mt. Shasta in California. Andara crystal is said to be both Atlanean and Lemurian; a stone of ascended masters, saints, and angels that vibrates in higher densities. It can clear "electromagnetic smog," activates and aligns all chakras, and accelerates spiritual growth. They are also said to be monatomic, completely missing the point of the term, which is often applied to gases made of one atom, such as helium.
What is slag? Smelt byproduct, which is notably not natural crystal or glass. Andara crystals have comparable composition to artificial soda-lime glasses over natural glasses like obsidian. Glass is not monatomic; it is commonly made from silicon dioxide, the same material as quartz.
Do you want to know how much they sell for?
Below is a search for glass slag.
Pretty similar in appearance, huh? That yellow piece is very pretty; I bet I could take it for 12$ and sell it as "Golden Light Pleiadean Ascended 6D Shaman Monatomic Andara Crystal" for 500$, and someone would buy it for that amount.
Is this worth it because they've shoved a bunch of spiritual words into the title and description promising the sun and moon to you if you pony up the cash for them?
The reason why they price them so high is people do buy them at these prices, because many people have no idea what they're actually buying.
You're not buying communication to angels. You're not buying a spiritual accelerant. You're not buying a chakra opener. You're buying well-advertised glass.

This week's Friendly Reminder is that witchy writers will not always tell you the exact purpose or reasoning behind every component in a spell or recipe and this is not an indicator of poor writing or a bad book.
Component purposes and correspondences should be obvious or at least presumable from the description of the spell. It's usually a pretty safe bet that whatever is included is aligned with the intended purpose of the thing to be done. For example, if the spell is a luck spell, you can probably assume that included components have some association with luck, prosperity, abundance, or attraction. If a powder is meant to banish something, the components are likely to be ones that deflect, cleanse, repel, or protect.
While it can be helpful for the author of a spell or recipe to explain all this point-by-point, it is not commonly done unless the explanation is relevant to the casting process, the components or use thereof are unconventional, or the book is meant for readers who are completely unfamiliar with the use of the listed components.
Common knowledge isn't common to everyone, but there's only a certain amount of hand-holding that can be done. At some point, an author must assume that the reader will either understand the instructions, take things on faith, or take the initiative look up additional information themselves if they feel the need.
Source: A recent spate of reviews complaining that my books are hard to understand because I don't fully explain the purposes and correspondences of each component in my published spells and recipes.

bsd does feel slightly different now yes but also yall have got to stop throwing a tantrum when the story doesnt go your way. like, idk how to tell yall this. chuuya not being in a chapter isnt the end of the world. dazai killing chuuya is not that wildly out of character for him. dazai is an unpredictable character and we have little to no understanding of what goes on in his mind. in fact its likely this has already been planned out. i dont know how to tell yall that not everything in a story is gonna go your way. just because something isnt the way you want it to be doesnt mean its the end of the world and its poorly written. grow up.

i consider myself bad at latin even though i’ve been taking advanced reading courses for three years now and i am embarrassed by my failings in this area but then i remember that one of my nemeses from grad school part 1 just started a medieval history phd and was admitted without any latin at all and then i simply become embarrassed for the profession instead

It's been years and I still defend that Jon Snow WAS the KEY actor in the resolution of the Dark Night and his whole journey and arc brought forth the very events that resulted in the defeat of the Night King and the safety that will belong to the North and the Realm. I don't care that it wasn't him who dealt the final blow, sure it would've been nice, but the guy set all the dominos and worked his ass off to make sure they fell in the right order.
