You know, it's rather interesting to me that Taylor Swift's parasocial relationship with her fans is honestly more akin to a YouTuber than a writer's. When I scroll through her tag on tumblr/Twitter, it's far more regarding the connection to her personal life/relationship developments than the actual metaphors/fictional story she might be telling. Everything comes back to how her songs reflect back on her relationships with Joe/Matty/Travis/Jake/insert ex-boyfriend here. And what fascinates me about it is that even though she complains about it, she leans into that very perception because it strengthens the parasocial bond.
The marketing for TTPD so clearly being about Joe Alwyn and the songs to Matty Healy. The marketing/video for Red TV so CLEARLY being about Jake Gyllenhaal, with so many of the new lines in All Too Well specifically being digs at him (I'll get older but your lovers stay my age, casting an actor that looks like him for the video, specific lines in I Bet You Think About Me). The fact that songs like Getaway Car and Bejeweled and Gorgeous and London Boy and Lavender Haze being picked apart at time of release and long after for signs of relationships crumbling. The way she uses surprise songs in relation to her relationship development with Joe/Matty/Travis. The damn TTPD "stages of grief" playlists where she deliberately undid/changed the meanings of old songs just to keep her audience speculating on her love life.
It's not sexist to point out that her wielding her love life is a marketing tool and that the strongest connection to her audience isn't the strength of her writing/the composition of her music- it's her deliberate crafting of a connection between her music and her personal life, leaving the audience invested in her music as an extension of Taylor the Person/Girlfriend rather than Taylor the Artist.

anyways this session has really solidified the reason quackity chose the people he did for me. because i remember connor getting an ask a while back complaining about how they wanted quackity to add people who would actually play instead of his friends (ie wilbur) who may not be active as often and. it rubbed me the wrong way for a lot of reasons, but mainly because it's clear quackity didn't choose just his friends. sure, it was a bonus that he was close to them, but quackity's first priority has never been "who can minmax the server and stream every day?" it's been "who is a good storyteller/who can tell a good story?"
because that's the core of it. the qsmp isn't about streaming or playtime, not necessarily. it's about the story. during the first announcement, people were surprised to see dantdm and jaidenanimations on the cast, because dan isn't really in quackity's circle and jaiden is barely an mcyt even if you push it. but you know what they were? storytellers. dan was a part of so many people's childhoods with his mod showcases and miscellaneous videos, all of which had lore. jaiden creates entire stories from video games! games with pre-determined stories that she has to spin into something new, something of her own.
and then the brazilians were added. some of them still did minecraft content, sure, but not all of them. but they were still storytellers. cellbit has his entire rpg. pac and mike have multiple roleplay series. and when you get to the french, the pattern repeats. baghera, for example, with her gta roleplay. not all of them are minecrafters at their core, but they are storytellers, and for most of them, improvisational ones at that. the same, of course, goes for the newest batch. pol is a filmmaker. vshojo has insane, deeply complex lore for all their vtubers. bagi is adept at ttrpg. sure, people being able to log on often is a necessity, but what good would that be if it ended up sacrificing quality for quantity?
this session really nailed it for me because you could see their expertise shine through. i feel like, even still, a lot of mcrp is seen as "lesser" because of its medium, or because of how it can switch between roleplay and just creators hanging out. roleplay is only typically praised and called to attention when it's highly emotional, and the same goes for the storytelling, with a heavier focus on how well creators can utilize angst as opposed to other moments. but this was treated differently. the silliness of minecraft was gone. what was previously disregarded came into light, like how fucking smart foolish is when writing characters and how well quackity is able to play into the story while staying true to his character, among other things! i just think quackity's brilliance in selecting his server members isn't talked about enough, because holy shit has he done a fantastic job

on my "anti elain/anti elriels are allergic to reading comprehension" tirade; taking the word of nesta (who is literally proven in the same book to be unreliable when it comes to her perspective of elain with her "elain is like a dog" comment that cassian later disproves) on blind faith about how elain would love the spring court or that it was "made for someone like her" simply because it has flowers when, in the first book, we are explicitly told that there is no gardening done in the spring court- which is what elain actually enjoys about flowers, the actual process of gardening and getting her hands dirty. it's like sjm is trying to tell us something about elain and how fundamentally no one in the inner circle (cough, besides azriel, cough) understands her as a person.

I made a Gempearl Fan art because they won in @trafficshipshowdown a few days ago and why not make fanart of them as a little victory. I tried my best on the Fanart.
I took some inspiration from @d0not-disturb and their version of their Fanart.
God, I love Gempearl.
Edit: 3/23/24: I just realized that they didn't win a few days ago. I think it was a couple of weeks ago. Anyways, thank you @thesoupbird for telling me about this.

Actually I wanted to expand more of this au I had since I wanted to talk more about it.(also I wrote it on a piece of paper I had but unfortunately I threw it away :’’) on accident)
I wrote on the post where Bruce was lost/grieving over his dead robins.so he made an artificial intelligence versions of them to keep him company and such, because he knows these versions of them won’t leave him.
In their designs I made them have the numbers 01-04.(as you can see within that artwork.as far as i posted being dick and Jason who share 01 and 02)obviously their supposed to be androids yet still have some parts that have a humanoid aspect.i would say all of them do look human with human faces with an exception of Cassandra and Jason and throw in Stephanie as well.
Because I like to think Cassandra was found in a dump site where she was mauled and ripped apart had no face even if her face plate would most likely ripped off,and she only had a small amount of battery/machine lifespan to see weapons like her get thrown in the dump when they have no use anymore.when Bruce finds her and she ran out of lifespan in the dump he takes her in and makes her new.giving her a new identity and purpose.
Jason used to have a life before he became an android.but now is a ai that sticks to Bruce until he’s given his own physical robot body(the other robins also get their own physical versions of them selves with obvious changes)Like how I designed with dick,Jason doesn’t have a face.if you where to take off that helmet all you’d see is wires and a head/facial “skeleton”.i think deep inside he would desperately want a more “human” face to be more accepted and well liked.(but that’s just my thinking)
Like Cassandra,Stephanie would be found with her robotic body parts scattered when found by android Tim.like the other two she doesn’t have a “face” you could only see her “eyes”.i also like to think that Tim would guide her along to her new and improved body and purpose.Through the world she sees in her surroundings she would learn quickly of human interaction and feelings that she can use in her disposal to help others.
There are human members like obviously Bruce but also Alfred,Barbara,Jim(not technically bats related but still counts because Barbara),Kate,Duke so on so forth.
I am also firm believer that Bruce when programming the AI’s robins limited on what their previous lives were.Meaning that they have no idea on how they died. All they know is that they have a new body and new purpose.
And when I said “scraps” in the post let’s just say it was parts of the body they had before.it’ll be real freaky if there was an actual beating heart and functioning human brain in those robots.
Also credit to this person for influencing my ideas more thank you :D
Also I’ll probably write more but that’s all I have now.i also do want to think more for Tim and Damian and most likely Dick.as well as the others because I didn’t mention them here.

As someone who actively and continually rooted for Naruto The Series to end with both Sasuke and Naruto dead, I’m very much open to stories killing off or otherwise vanishing major, beloved characters.
Even when it hurts—often BECAUSE it hurts—killing off characters can be an extremely poignant, thematically compelling thing. Narratively necessary at times. I’d even argue that many stories would benefit from killing off more characters and authorial shyness about killing off faves has neutered a lot of otherwise good books, shows, whatever.
So, believe when I say, I’m astounded that for a story so grounded in death, JJK handles it so fucking terribly. This is not bitterness about my faves (not that I ever had that strong of a connection to anyone in the story), this is not a “Sad stories are bad stories” type of whining, or anything like that.
But just looking at the implications of this weeks leaks with last week’s chapter… I rly don’t get how you write an entire 200+ chapter manga that starts off with the death of a loved one and continues so much to be about death… and just so little impact with it outside of “Noooo, my fave is gone.”
If the manga even tried to put a little bit of emphasis on “We don’t have time to emotionally respond, we’re a bit busy,” I’d be a lot more lenient with this but like… the story seems more interested in the shock value ambiguity of “Are they dead or not?” than it does in parsing what death means… for everyone else.
Is Nobara dead? Can Gojo “go north” and idk come back from being cut in half? Does this mean Megumi is gone for good?
Those are fun questions but mean little if characters within the narratively barely care/are barely shown caring. Or will care for a panel and move on.
I know I bitched about this last week but this week has just rly brought it all home 😭 Like what is anyone fighting for if no one fucking cares.
Shounen is allowed to be emotional—in fact, I’d argue a lot of shounen is almost purely motivated by hurt and grief and revenge and justice—so wtf is going on here????

Storm Warning
The change from Hyrule's era to Wild's era was more shocking than it normally was. The drier climate of Hyrule's era was immediately off set as Time stepped into fierce winds and rain. Legend, who had walked through with Time, shot his hands up to block the rain from getting into his eyes. “Shit, this must be Wild's era!” He chuckled.
Wild, who had come in before them with the rest of the chain, walked up and gave Legend a friendly shove. “Why? Cause it's storming? I'm sure there's storms like this in your Hyrule!”
Legend frowned and rolled his eyes. “So you admit that this is your era?”
Wild took out his slate and showed Legend and Time the screen. “We are but the storm is making it hard to connect to the towers.” Normally, when entering new eras, the map function on Wilds slate gave a blank screen. Right now the screen was constantly moving with gray and white specks, sometimes the outlines of a map would appear but not for a long enough time to show anything useful.
“Do you know where we are?” Warriors had come up beside the group, holding onto his scarf so it wouldn't unravel and blow away.
Wild started to look around. Time would as well but the entire area was hard to see with the rain being as heavy as it was. “Hard to tell but I feel like we're near the Gerudo Highlands, somewhere in Hebra.” He gestured to a nearby rock wall. Time had no idea how Wild could just look at a rock and know where he was.
Wild tapped his slate a bit more. “We should take all of our metal off. It's only raining now but I think I saw lightning in the distance. I'll store everything in the slate.”
The chain was quick to start putting away shields and swords or to help other members, like Time, to take off armor pieces. It wouldn't be long after warriors got his chainmail off that lightning would strike nearby.
Wild had started to get antsy just before the chain finished putting everything away. The moment everything was settled he started to move. “We should find some shelter. I don't trust this weather.” The chain began to follow him. “If I'm right there should be a cave just east of here.”
Everyone stuck close to one another. The rain and wind threatened to steal them away into the dark. It was actually quite hard to tell if it was day or night, though, Time would have to assume that since they can even see a few feet in front of them that it must be day.
Something was off, of course everyone would be tense because of the storm but something rested deep in Time. Something was wrong. He looked at the chain. Wind was antsy, looking around into the dense rain. Legend and Hyrule stuck close to Twilight and Warriors. Sky was plastered to Wild's side. Wild himself kept looking around, not like he was lost but like he was searching for something. Four stuck close to Wind, making sure neither of them could.
Lightning struck a tree nearby. Most of the chain jumped or covered their ears, Time's own rang for a few moments afterwards. Not even ten seconds afterward lightning would strike again a little further away. The storms in Wild's era were always terrifying.
Time is focusing on making sure he doesn't trip or lose the chain when the next lightning bolt hits. Wild stops in his tracks and looks off to their left. His ears facing forward and listening intently for something.
“Wild, what is-” Time was cut off.
Wild lifted a hand and shushed him. Lightning struck after a few tense seconds waiting and listening. For a moment, as the sky was lit up they could see a dark funnel stretching from the clouds above them and touching the ground. A tornado.
Wild moves first. “We need to hurry!” Wilf doesn't wait for the chain before he begins to run. Luckily they are not slow to follow. Time falls behind, ensuring no one gets separated from the group.
The rain and wind starts to become harsher. A strong gust blows past them, sending Legend to the ground. Time doesn't waste a moment to grab the back of his shirt and heave him up onto his feet. The wind only seems to get louder the longer they run.
Wild makes a sharp turn straight at the nearby rock wall. He disappears into a crevice. Everyone follows suit, diving into the mouth of the cave. Time is practically shoved into the cave by the winds.
Wild falls to the cave floor and throws his hands above his head. Legend does the same and tries to yell at the rest of the chain but nothing gets past the raging winds. Everyone follows by Wild and Legends example, getting down onto the floor and protecting their heads.
Time's ears pop. There's a sudden jerk as the wind begins to be sucked out of the mouth of the cave. Four gets dragged by the wind. Time is slow to go after him but Sky isn't. Sky leapt over Time and landed onto Four, stopping him in his tracks. Time grabs Sky's leg and pulls them next to himself and further from the mouth of the cave.
Time tried to watch his other boys but the clouds and rain darkened the area so much that the world had gone black in only a few seconds. Every so often Time can hear things hitting the stone around him. Something hits his side, then his head and soon he is being pelted by things he can't see. He doesn't want to imagine what Sky and Four must be getting hit by at the moment if he was being hit as hard as he was.
The tornado seems to take hours to leave but in reality, it couldn't have stayed over them for longer than a minute at most. The rumbling begins to lower and Time can finally hear his heart beating again. The winds slow and the air pressure begins to go back to normal. His ears pop again as everything begins to even out.
Time could feel himself shaking like a leaf in the storm outside. Time barely trusts his own voice but he has to worry about his boys. “Where is everyone? Call out now!”
Wild is the first. “One! Over here, Time!” The darkest part of the storm had begun to pass, letting a dim light into their cave. Wild is dragging himself away from the wall he plastered himself to earlier.
Legend and Hyrule are curled around one another. Legend is sobbing and holding onto Hyrule like a lifeline. Hyrule calls out for them. “We're alright, not hurt at least, Um, two and three.”
Warriors is still on the ground, head tucked under his arms. “Four…” His voice is shaky but at least he's responding.
Wind is trying to stand up. “I'm in one piece.” He then starts to laugh as his legs wobble so hard that he needs to sit back down. Time counts five for him.
Twilight is almost beside Time. “Six. Goddesses that was horrible.”
Sky is still holding onto Four when they both sit up. Four calls out for them both. “Seven and eight!”
Time sighs with relief, everyone is safe. He slowly sits up and leans against Twilight. “Nine. Is anyone injured?” He looks at Sky and Four, both are dirty but neither seem injured.
There's a chorus of no's and ‘I'm fine’.
Wind is still against the wall when he speaks up. There is still a smile on his face but his eyes show that he's terrified. “What even was that? I've never seen anything like that from the Great Sea.” He must have been scared shitless if he couldn't find it in his to cuss.
Wild seems to gather himself up quicker than the rest, though Time can easily see the way his hands are shaking. “Tornado. I don't think I've ever had one creep up on me that fast. That was scary..” A few members of the group hum or nod in agreement. Legend let out a particularly loud sob in response.
They were okay, at least Time's boys were all okay. Though, there was going to be a lot of work to get Legend to be comfortable enough to ‘talk about his emotions’ after this whole ordeal.
Wind had nodded at what Wild had said but wasn't chatty like he usually is. Time reaches over and drags Sky and Four closer to him so he could hug them both. “I think we all agree to stay here until the storm passes.”
Sky's voice is quiet when he replies to that. “Yeah… I don't think I can go out there.” He coughs to try hiding a choked cry. Sky hugged Time back. Meanwhile, Time was planning on how he can kill whichever god is responsible for so many of his boy's crying today.
The weather would die down just before sunset. The sky was bright orange up until the last moment it could be, night fell and it was still brighter then it was earlier in the day. Legend and Sky would bond over their fear of the storm, or at least that is what Time was thinking when the two cuddled up to one another to sleep. When Time laid down himself, Twilight and Wild would plant themselves to his sides soon followed by Wind he wrapped around an arm that he was keeping out of the blankets to keep cool.
Time was so thankful for these boys and how much they loved one another. He just hoped that the goddesses didn't think they needed to be thrown into another storm to be reminded of what they had.
