#'there is no way shuggie bain can dance!' girl........ i SOBBED#this book has me FUCKED UP#actually can't decide if this was more harrowing than young mungo#i think the peaks of violence and despair are more intense in young mungo but so are the moments of joy and hope#this was just. misery and heartbreak from start to finish#anyway shuggie and mungo (and james) both live under my roof in lawful adoption btw. they get regular sweet treats and warm drinks.#if you even care#literature#douglas stuart
