really i think part of the issue with my last post also is that fandom lacks the nuance to go “yes this character had a hard life but that doesnt make what they did okay”

#this stuff goes hand in hand with ''no you cant make an abusive character likeable or sad! theyre abusive!''#to me anyways #if a character is nice then they have to be 100% nice. if a character is mean they have to have no redeeming qualities #this is actually realistic and epic writing'#''this character cant be both a good dad AND a serial killer maniac!! they have to only be good!''#''this guy cant both be sad about his backstory and nice to his friends AND an abusive partner!! youre making excuses for him!!''#echoed voice
