In Front of Your Face (Hong Sang-soo, 2021)
Private prayers and affirmations (or Bresson quotes), laughing behind someone's back, watching someone sleep, a future with an endpoint only you know. In front of your face and no one else's. Now and not before or after. This one, it's quite beautiful. A real coup getting Lee Hye-young on board. Perfect casting, but, you know, the fiction/non blur of Hong Sang-soo's movies - movies born and inseparable from the conditions, personnel and predispositions they were created in or with - lay the foundations for that.
