森 Forest | Ryuichi Yamashiro
With this poster, designer Ryuichi Yamashiro has taken a purely typographic approach to promoting the preservation of woodlands through the Forest Protection Movement. Yamashiro has repeated two Japanese characters in a variety of sizes and weights to create a graphic forest. The design comprises various arrangements of the basic character for tree: 木. The word ‘’wood’’ is shown with the character ‘林’ and the combined character means ‘’forest’’: 森.
Yamashiro compares the spaces between the characters of the winds that blow through the trees. The large blank area at the bottom of the piece represents the presence of a menacing ’’other’’ that threatens to push back the forest.

かつて遭遇した同様のモンスターは丸みを帯びた緑色だったが、今回出現した奴は白黒の様相で、全身が不気味な突起物に覆われている。
強烈な異臭を放つ角を出す攻撃手法は一緒だ。橙色ですっごい短いけど。
