can we just talk about the fact that ahri's elderwood skin can pour her magic back into nature to bring it to life, and how her coven skin can draw magic from nature and utilize it as her own.
i already headcanoned a long time ago that she draws magic from the world around her ( though it's less of a headcanon since it's actual canon now -- i just wrote it before coven came out some three years ago! ) but anyway i just think it's neat. it's nice to imagine she can do this to some extent in her regular canon; not necessarily as powerfully because these abilities are both so distinctly tied to the worlds of these respective skinlines, but if ahri can use her magic to heal herself, why not nature? i mean, it's quite literally just guiding raw magic back into the world around her, and she is already masterful at drawing it out— so. yeah, ahri can make little blossoms bloom or bring little plants back to life if they're droopy. she can also pull that same magic out and shift it around, even transferring it from one physical source to another.
she's adept at manipulating magic, i mean, that's what her canonical tribe was known for after all: their otherworldly mastery over magic manipulation!

So like Alex, Henry is neurodivergent. He doesn't have ADHD like Diaz but is autistic instead. He was diagnosed by the age of ten and at the request of his grandmother - the paperwork was sealed. The only one that knows is his therapist and his immediate family.
This is why sometimes he gets in his cocoon phases where he shuts the world out. He gets very overstimulated and needs the time to decompress. Henry hates change also, which is why he fought against the idea of being with Alex even though the First Son fights for them. Why it took Alex speaking to him face to face to get him to see it his way.

do you mind telling us more abt her modern au? not her idol one, but her floriculturist lady ballerina one!
i would love to!
in my modern au, ahri is still an ancient 𝐊𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐇𝐎, some hundreds of years old— she's watched the passage of time flow by her, and always kept the world around her at arm's length. her relationships have always been superficial or a means to an ends. in this universe, ahri abides by more traditional mythos of the kumiho and does seek out humans to hunt and eat on a regular basis, whereas her canon verse is capable of controlling this urge to a good extent, and really only needs essence over organs. this hunger makes forming deep bonds difficult, but it's never truly bothered her. ahri has always been a lonely creature.
in recent years, ahri found her home with the 𝐒𝐄𝐎𝐔𝐋 𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐘, putting her natural dancing talents on display. most of her endeavors until now have been a means to pass the time and integrate with society meaningfully, to avoid suspicion, but this... ahri genuinely found a love for dance.
she would quickly rise up the ranks, even being considered for prima ballerina. truly, ahri moved with a grace and nimbleness not seen in many, and though much of this could be owed to her own natural talent, carrying the instinctual poise and finesse of a fox assisted greatly. she would attend shows across the country and perform solos, accruing fans and admirers alike over the years. naturally, ahri thrived under the spotlight, soaking up the abundance of adoration and affection; she lived for it.
such great love came from and for one man in particular: another dancer in her company, one whom she'd fallen 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐇𝐄𝐄𝐋𝐒 for, for the first time in what felt like eons. swept up in the glittery lights and her rose-tinted love affair, ahri would claim to not be in her right mind the day she vulnerably exposed her true nature to her lover. that day would be her last within the world of ballet.
at the reveal of her fine-pointed claws and nine, swishing tails, her lover broke down in horror, and ultimately met his demise at her hand. what choice was there, after all? he was screaming. it'd frightened her, shocked her to her core; was this truly his reaction to ahri undoing her vulnerability right before him? ah, and then she'd remembered why she didn't let anyone in. alas, the fox's heart walls erected themselves once more.
ahri disposed of his body like any other, though not with much care. they would always been dragged behind a dumpster, left in some bushes, or thrown into a river to bloat up. soon after, ahri dropped the identity she'd forged in seoul and caught the next train out towards busan.
quietly, ahri would set up shop in a quaint 𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐓𝐎𝐖𝐍 somewhere along the coast. it smelled of sea salt and fresh caught fish, and she was quick to plant her roots in a rundown shop overgrown with wild foliage in it's forgotten state. while much of it was left in it's natural state, ahri was quick to get her new life in motion and tidied it up enough to turn it into a local shop. there, she would study 𝐅𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐌— the study of flowers, flower care and advanced flower breeding.
the back of shop contained a staircase that led up to a small home with a rooftop garden, where ahri would conduct all her floricultural endeavors and set to growing her own crops. her shop, though slowly built up, eventually became a niche local attraction for unique flower bouquets and gardening expertise.
though, despite her shop's popularity, ahri herself remained adamant on keeping other's at arms length once more, vowing to never allow someone in. the fox has become somewhat of a mystery to the locals, as an exquisitely beautiful woman who refuses the advances of marriage prospects, seems to keep to herself entirely, and is almost ghost-like in the way she flits through town as needed and returns to her abode. nonetheless, her beauty and charm are enough to keep her reputation above water, as more of an attractive enigma than anything else.
... despite the calm, peaceful life ahri has carefully crafted for herself now, this is not to forget what she is. a beast through and through, she still needs 𝐓𝐎 𝐅𝐄𝐄𝐃. shortly after her arrival in town, whispers of tourists going missing have begun to sprout, though ahri brushes them all off as the tales of bored fisherman's wives, with the prettiest laugh, naturally.
yet, she would spend her nights digging in her garden against lantern light, creating holes approximately 6 feet in length and 3 feet deep. it's for a special fertilizer, ahri insists, and well— her flowers are of the most breath-taking, unique beauty, blooming in colors and sizes not yet seen before.
𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐑𝐀 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒:
she's lived in her seaside town for approximately three years at this point. ahri is an established resident, who's thoroughly charmed the rest of the town .. literally and magically. if she's ever risen suspicion, her magic is immediately utilized to sway the minds of her neighbors.
she enjoys setting up a farmer's market booth every weekend to sell special bouquets, plants, spare herbs, etc. she'll even take custom orders to make for you on the spot.
spends a ton of her time reading in her garden, soaking up the sunlight. she's almost always reading some sort of book on floriculturalism. ahri tends to drown herself into whatever career path she's chosen that decade.
still loves to dance! she doesn't do it often anymore, but if she does, it's probably just in her own home for a few minutes. for fun.
never lets anyone over to her house. she's careful about keeping her garden neat and normal looking, but she does have a washing station inside of a tiny shed that's coated in blood stains, with bloody rags in the sink and buckets of fleshy bits and pieces under it. it's seriously serial killer material, but she really does just harvest the good parts aka the heart and liver & buries the rest.
her garden itself is completely out of control, but .. it's also a controlled out-of-control? ahri is fully aware of the inner workings of her garden and trims it as needed, she just prefers to let nature do it's thing. it's overflowing, like walking into a miniature rooftop forest. speaking of, her rooftop is surrounded on all sides by trees and tall fences, so there's not really any chance of someone sneaking a peek.
some of her previous pursuits over the centuries include painting, medicinal plant research, a very brief stint trying to learn surgery which provided useful skills, burlesque until she killed one of the girls backstage and had to charm thirty different people to forget about it, writing but she was never successful at it, an attempt to get into theatre acting in the early 1900s but only resulted in minor minor roles before she disappeared from it, and many more.
