Zoe knew her grandmother was busy, as Queen of The Amazons, Hippolyta, didn't have time to watch Zoe train with the warriors.
But when she looked up and spied the queen watching her shoot targets, she couldn't help but smile.
As soon as she was released from training for the day, Zoe went straight to her grandmother's side.
"What do you think?" She asked as she approached.
"Do you think I'm ready to join the ranks of our most fearsome warriors?"

Themyscira was a beautiful place. The island was the only home Zoe had ever known, surrounded by her family of Amazons.
Though the first Princess of the Amazons born in the world of men, Zoe had no memory of the place, she'd only been a few weeks old when her mother returned to Themyscira after a long absence.
Since that day, Zoe's entire life was the island and her people.
She never asked about her mother's time away from the island, nor did she ask about her father, but sometimes she would catch her mother and grandmother exchanging looks when she did certain things, like laugh or compete against other warriors.
Today, she'd been released from training early, so Zoe went down to the beach in hopes of going swimming in the ocean.
She didn't expect to come across her mother further up the beach.
She looked sad, staring out at the sea.
Her swimming excursion was forgotten, and Zoe approached.
"Mother, what's wrong?"

"Would you mind some company?" It was strange seeing her mother's mirror image looking back at her, but Zoe knew not to speak that out loud.
