About your language brainrot. I see your "Reader's writing can't match tyvat's long and flowery writing" and bring you "Tyvat isn't used to books over 50 pages long so a short story to the Reader is a whole dictionary to tyvat readers".
Seriously, have you seen how thin the books are? They don't wrote novels, they write short chapters formatted in the way really old stories are. As in, summarizing all the events down into one smooth story then adding a few quotes. Fanfiction writers are insane. They will willingly sit down and write hundreds of words at a time. To them, a proper modern day story of maybe, oh 10k words or so, would probably be like the Oddessy itself.
If we were to combine the two headcanons. It would end up as many historians being intimidated by this insanely long written scripture in the language of the forgotten.
I'm going to take this a step further and say that if the creator asked some people to proofread their things, it would establish a hiarchy of who is able to actually finish the book the creator read and who isn't.
NOW THIS, THIS IS MY FUCKING JAMMMM
I'm so sorry this is so old!! u probably all know this by this point that I've really slowed down as the year has gone on, but I graduated university and then got my first job so its been pretty crazy!
Tumblr media
Sun: Reader (you/they/them)
Orbit: Headcanons-ish
Stars: dash of all the book/nerds of Genshin, heavy on Sumeru?
Comets & Meteors: Content Warnings: Cussing, 16+ Mature Audiences, Spoliers for Sumeru Archon Quests/Scaramouche, & Trigger Warnings: mention of shipping/characters shipping themselves with you.
Comment if any missed, please.
FULL STOP.
THE AKADEMIYA, FONTAINE RESEARCH INSTITUTE, HAVE BEEN WAITTTINNGGGG ON YOUR ASS LMAO
You fall from the fucking sky like a 5 star, or pop out of the Irminsul or whatever
and immediately are mobbed by scholars. LMAO jkjk (not really, bc that's what it’d feel like)
can you even imagine the dread older stories(”the classics” to them), that was instilled in the poor students around Teyvat??
id like to think ur works are the most preserved over the thousands of years of Teyvat archeologists excavating them, in comparison to other authors (teyvat just likes you more, suck it William Shakespeare)
also, bc I cant resist language differences/world building I'm sorryyyy 😭 😭
the vocab of Genshin lang vs. ours, has significantly less vocabulary like their actual dictionary is 1/3 the size of ours type of energy
(Omfg all ur fanfics being considered like insanely long realistic romantic classics or tragedies like Jane Austen-level, and only the richest and biggest play companies put on plays about ur stories bc the script goes on for hours)
(ur plays only get put on for rlly big events bc of this, like Lantern Rite or like a Summer/Winter festival/your birthday, which is, yes, an international holiday)
dude the sheer power move of anything you’ve written being essentially “Journey of the West” to them, like Damnnn.
endless like adaptations, plays, Teyvat-short stories condensing it, (THEIR OWN FANFICTION ABOUT UR STORIES)
the power is, in fact, going to your head every time another scholar both deflates at how long ur stuff is, but also lights up bc they get to read it
speaking of scholars… you know who snatched you up first. you know. you don’t even need to read the next line.
Alhaitham.
sneaky bastard he is, absolutely manipulated, mansplained (and manwhored bc he knows he’s handsome, cheeky little shit) his way into getting you to sit down with him and interview you about both translating other classics, your own, giving your own analysis of others works and ur own, and picking ur brain apart of how/why you wrote urs, etc. its fucking endless,
Kaveh had to come rescue you bc u were starving to death after getting stuck with the Haravatat scholar in his office for nearly 7 hours of interrogation discussion about literature
and Alhaitham wasn't even nearly done, he’d informed you as you left that he already had another appointment for later conversation scheduled (how?? you don't even know ur own schedule??? you have a schedule???) and was looking forward to more of your “creative and enlightening input” :)))
(you’re never going to escape him, not even Nahida herself can save you from his stubborn ass)
On another note, Xingqiu is quaking when you agree to autograph his copy of your stories (of which he has all hard covers of the first edition translations)
Zhongli/Rex Lapis is known for having a near-lifelong passion for searching for your works specifically, and learning how to translate them better into Teyvatian vernacular
like the same way he can absolutely speak on Rex Lapis facts/rocks/adepti info, is the same confidence he speaks about knowing ur work lol
(yes he did also ask for several autographs and another sit-down talk about the works, tho a lot more sneaky then Alhaitham bc he just casually gets u guys into it during dinner)
Barbatos/Venti has written some of the most famous songs based on your stuff, he has his favorites too,
but he always claims the best songs are any that have been written in the story, like either when a character sings something, or there are like quotes from songs ur fanfics are based on lol
(he also demanded to hear what they actually sound like from you, yes, you have to sing them for him lol)
Venti also can surprisingly drunkenly ramble the entirety of at least one of ur stories, like, word for word lmao
(Diluc gave in and did give him a drink on the house for that one, just once, Venti doesn’t remember it lol)
(I forgot to mention, u guys still speak the same language, just like, different versions of it)
ur works being one of the few things all the Archons can freely talk about with each other, like it’s neutral ground bc they’re all fangirling about it lmao
Furina and Neuvillette have had like,, fierce debates over the decades about character dynamics and the general drama of ur stories, they’ve gotten into it enough they’ve stopped talking to each other for a couple days a few times lol
Albedo, Sucrose, Kokomi, Yae Miko, Ei, Raiden, have read every single work they’re gotten their hands on in Teyvat (it took them like a literal year or longer)
Albedo drew you fanart for every single story, bc he’s hyperfixated on everything related to you ngl,
Kokomi had commissioned smaller pocket versions of ur works (which later got popular thanks to Yae Miko) both the OG and the Teyvat shortened versions
THE HARBINGERS ARE THE MOST DOWN BAD LMAO
Childe has literally tried to recreate battle scenes from ur works lmao
and gets especially riled up about fighting someone who resembles any characters from them (esp villains, what a cutie)
You cannot fathom the amount of research throughout Teyvat that has been secretly or indirectly funded by Pantalone/Tsaritsa
from the experts to analyze them, to funding play companies to act them out, to actually excavating places to get more of ur stuff unearthed
(the Harbingers absolutely are the first group of people that got to read several of ur stories first bc of this, like the world’s most exclusive secret book club lol)
Scaramouche used to clown on Childe all the time about how he was too impatient to even “sit down and read the King’s classics”, and he was downright insufferable when he found out about Tartaglia’s habit of recreating battle scenes/that being what motivated him to fight sometimes lol
that being said, Wanderer surprisingly never forgot ur stories.
Even when his memories were wiped for a bit, he found comfort in these fantastical epics still sticking around, even when his old names did not
(he mayyyy or mayyy nottt have secretly namedhimselfafteroneofthetragicprotagonistsherelatesto- )
oh btw, Nahida also found joy and comfort in ur stories when she was trapped, they also helped her literally grow as a person bc she had ur stories to help her sort of process the world/what life was like outside of her dreaming prison 🥺💔❤️‍🩹
OMFG
ANYWAY FULL TONE SHIFT LMFAO-
the ABSOLUTE SPIRAL-RED-STRING-CONSPIRACY-THEORY-BOARD ENERGY IF THIS WAS A BLUNT LANGUAGE AU LMAOOOO
like specifically how Teyvatians like to give all the context ever thru their words, but older deities/beings like you just do simple phrases that can have deeper meanings (whereas teyvat just explains all the meanings behind their words)
STOP there’s like an official display at the Akademiya and Fontaine Institute of red string theory boards 😭😭 (look what you’ve done to themmm LMAO)
for like every story of urs, INCLUDING THE FANFICS STOP
IMAGINE THE SHIPPING WARS IF U EVER WROTE ONE THAT WASNT EXPLICIT OR LIKE ONE OF THE MAIN ROMANTIC INTERESTS HAD CHEMISTRY WITH OTHER CHARACTERS HAHAHAHAA
that's actually what Akademiya scholars argue about the most viciously, it’s like politics you can’t just bring up ships from ur stories casually in regular convos 💀
(poor Cyno has to deal with a shipping war once a year bc someone always makes the mistake of reading ur work for the first time (without being told to not talk to others abt ships lol) and it starts an all out brawl in the cafeteria every time LMAO)
Also yes.
Cyno is a fanboy.
(he has read Creator x Reader-insert fanfiction.)
(As have most of the characters mentioned, and those not lol)
(I'm gonna make a whole Creator x reader fanfic post one day i stg lmao)
an iced coffee? for me?? :0
ok but real talk…
wtf do you guys wanna see for new years!!
i didn't do a inktober/october days thingy bc i felt too unprepared (and bc id wanted to post that 1000+ followers eldritch au for Halloween)
but now i kinda wanna, at least for a few days :o
ill post a poll in a minute, so check it out!! but still, please feel free to comment some ideas here! :)

While the fandom problem below didn't say fiction out loud I still will talk about fiction, because this is a fandom blog (I know this is obvious, but still I wanted to write this so the one I respond to won't be able to confuse it with anything)
So to that person who reblogged Fandom Problem #4679 with pedophilia as some kind of gotcha:
You know the problem with your thought process is that a lot of like-minded people have used this to justify bullying, harrassment and doxxing. OVER FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. Can you find it icky? Of course! Do you have to like it? No! But you should know that these are fictional characters and harrassing people over things that aren't real is just fucking useless and disgusting.
In a fandom I am in, a lot of artists got harrassed on twitter, and one of them was because they made fanart of a ship that contains a 16 old guy and a 20 years old guy who fucking hate each other in canon. The artist got so many disgusting messages, that they tried to commit suicide. Luckily they could save their life, but the person, who initiated the hate mob didn't even feel much guilt, they just tried to blame it on the mob. And I really don't like the ship but still find this behaviour fucking yikes 💀 (If I see similar ships I just click away and ignore it)
AO3 volunteers also got CSEM in their emails because... fuck fictional content? It's fucking disturbing that the ones opposing against fictional dubious content are the ones searching and sending actual CSEM.
Also because of these stupid alligations now the terms "pedo" "racist" "transphobe" and their siblings got watered down so much that if I see someone being called a pedo, I firstly think that someone gets these accusations because of fiction. With this "pedo" accusations you make it makes even more possible for actual predators to hide. Because no one will take these seriously. Besides reporting fanart of actual fictional characters (like lolis) takes away time and resouces from child protection services like this ask had stated a little ago for #4646: https://www.tumblr.com/damnfandomproblems/743910540778291200/for-one-of-the-comments-doubting-that-this-happens?source=share
And yes, I know about Canada's loli = child porn bullshit before someone would point is out that as a counterpoint. Goverments can make bullshit laws, my country's goverment also tends to do stupid shit.
Response to previous problem and ask. Link to the ask mention in this response:

The former boyband member Niall Horan on his new album, headlining the Electric Picnic, turning 30 and taking on the world, says Louise Bruton
Sunlight pours in through the large bay windows of the Westbury Hotel and Niall Horan is a little tired. In Ireland for less than 36 hours, he’s fitting in this interview and a surprise appearance for 80 of his biggest Irish fans, all in the build-up to the release of The Show, his third solo album. Once upon a time the five-star hotel would have been mobbed by hyperventilating fans, but today he got in unnoticed.
“If someone had said to me in 2013, ‘Do you want to go for a coffee?’ I’d go, ‘No, you’re joking? That’s nuts.’” Over an Americano, a low-key Horan relives the hysteria of once being in the boyband One Direction. Since the group’s formation on The X Factor in 2010 and their indefinite hiatus announced in 2016, the Mullingar man wasn’t able to walk down the street without people pulling over in their cars to take a gawk, let alone meet pals for coffee. Unsure if he developed a fear of being surrounded, he recalls that he “nearly became a bit of a recluse”.
Going unnoticed doesn’t mean that Horan’s star has faded. With his previous albums reaching the top of the charts in the UK, the US and Ireland, and charming everyone so much as a coach on NBC’s The Voice that he’s back for the next series, he’s on top of his game, but he has learnt how to live under the radar.
“When the band stopped I went travelling in Asia for four months, just staying in shite hotels and hostels and I could do more than I expected,” he says. That trip encouraged him to reconfigure how he moves through the world. Dividing his time between his homes in Co Westmeath, Los Angeles and London, he lives as much of a normal life as he can when he’s off the pop star clock. “In this world you give people a handshake, they take your arm off, so I just keep my private life private,” he says.
In London he travels on the Tube and in Los Angeles he claims that the paparazzi only want his photo if there’s some “other famous fella in the bar”. He doesn’t play the game of going to certain restaurants just to be seen. “It’s a shame, though, because some of the nice places in LA are like that,” he says. “You have to take that risk sometimes to get a bit of grub.”
This September sees two big events that capture the stark difference between his private and professional lives — headlining Electric Picnic and turning 30. In Stradbally he’s looking forward to experiencing “the Irish love again” from the main stage, but it’s his 30th birthday party happening later on in the month that has him jittery.
“This sounds mental, coming from a pop star, but I don’t really like attention,” Horan says, so he’s “splitting the adulation” with his best friend from home. Thousands of fans screaming at him? Grand. His closest friends and family singing Happy Birthday to him? Nerve-racking.
That milestone birthday has him feeling reflective. “At my age you start to think a little bit more,” he says, joking that he’s probably 65 in showbiz years. “I don’t remember overthinking much, or ever, up until the pandemic.”
The first lockdown was the longest he has ever taken off from work. Hunkering down in London and with no pubs to go to, he was “in the best shape” of his life. He also became official with his girlfriend, Amelia Woolley, and took stock of who he is. “The last five years have been more formative than I was expecting,” he says, and it’s no surprise that this maturity syncs up with leaving the bubble of One Direction. “I had to do a lot more growing up than your average 16-year-old.”
With his peers Lewis Capaldi and Selena Gomez releasing documentaries on their struggles with fame, does he wish that he did anything different with his career? “I think if I’d had any way of a dodgy experience, I’d probably say I would change a few things, but I’ve always had a good experience with it,” he says.
“I was well supported. It’s all about the people you have around you, I think. Coming from a small town and wanting to take over the world,” he pauses to punch the air like a rock star, “in my head at the time I was ready, but most 16-year-olds are probably not.”
The Show is a different beast from 2017’s lustful Flicker and 2020’s self-explanatory Heartbreak Weather. For one he’s in love, but more thought has gone into this album. Horan’s newly considered approach to songwriting makes vulnerability look easy. “I’m in a good place in my head,” he says, but he’s hesitant to call this a happy album.
“When you’re happy I feel like that scares some writers,” he says. Bursting into a rendition of Pharrell Williams’s song Happy, he notes that if you’ve historically done cheery songs you have to show the full “umbrella” of happiness. So instead of taking the sunny route, he writes in a relatable way about the work that goes into feeling good and falling in love.
“There are artists out there that get so introspective that you have to pull out a thesaurus to see what they’re talking about,” he says, and that’s why his latest single, Meltdown, works so well. With an anthemic quality built for festivals, the chorus guides people out of a panic attack. “I was big on writing a song about feeling anxious at 180 beats per minute. The song is fast and
I wanted that because that’s what that feeling feels like,” he says, mimicking a shortness of breath. “It has to feel rapid and then the chorus just comes and it slows down.”
It’s apparently based on a few personal scenarios, and he suggests that good communication has always been a skill of his. “I think I’m a good talker,” he says, exaggerating his candidness. “I have no problem telling you how I feel. Do you want to hear it?”
Busy, at peace and taking nothing for granted, Horan’s new material is a true representation of where he is in life. With a busy year ahead with festivals, turning 30 and a freshly announced 2024 world tour, it’s time to stop thinking so much and get on with The Show. Or, as he puts it more directly: “Let’s get out and have a f***ing good time.”
Niall Horan’s album The Show is out on Thu. Tickets for his tour next year are now on sale

You do what?
A Long Island native traded book publishing for birds and never looked back
Tumblr media
Master Falconer at Sky Guardian Falconry
West Linn, Ore.
The job:
-based abatement. "We use trained falcons, hawks and owls as security guards to protect areas where pest birds congregate," said Alina Blankenship, 52. She leverages the predator-prey relationship that is hardwired into birds to avoid their predators, to deter gulls, starlings, Canada geese, pigeons, sparrows and other fowl. Unlike scarecrows or loud noises, "the birds will never acclimate to that." Her clients include airfields, stadiums, wharves, cities, golf courses and dams where opportunistic birds catch fish. In Oregon, she works with many agriculture companies, such as vineyards, which often sit in the migration paths of starlings that gather in groups of tens of thousands and can decimate a crop in minutes. "It's like a mob rush at a grocery store," Blankenship said.
Lifestyle: The schedule is dawn until dusk for agriculture jobs, on contracts of one to 16 weeks. Some falconers live on-site in a trailer, but that's not for Blankenship. "I go home," she said. Her jobs can shift with the crops, from cherries to blueberries to apples to grapes. She also cares for a dozen working birds (nine falcons, three hawks), plus four owls and a raven for education programs, with the help of a feeder.
Pay: Farmers pay $600 to $1,000 a day while urban or dam contracts can pay $750 to $1,200 a day. Jobs are often several days or weeks in a row - there's no weekends off in falconry. Sky Guardian Falconry is her company, so there's no middleman.
Backstory: Blankenship, who's originally from Long Island, was working in book publishing. One day she helped a friend remove an entrapped Cooper's hawk from a garage and was inspired to begin working with the birds when the hawk briefly perched on her arm. She apprenticed with a falconry master for two years while also volunteering for five years at a wildlife rehabilitation facility. "I did her education programs, taking her great horned owl to kindergartens," Blankenship said. Eventually, she became a licensed wildlife educator. "When people are eight inches away from these giant yellow eyes, it's transformative for them." A few years later, she discovered abatement - which the government began licensing only 15 years ago - and which she thought would improve her falconry. "In a year I'll have birds in the air more than some falconers will in their entire careers."
How it works: The goal is to teach pest birds that the neighborhood is just terrible. If 10,000 birds fly over a crop, Blankenship will send her saker falcon up into the air. "She's a winged border collie, and she escorts them off the property," she said. Some of the birds might scatter onto the ground, and to move them, she'll send out her aplomado falcon, the equivalent of a chihuahua. "She'll fly out of my car window and down that row, scare away all the birds that were hiding there, and fly back into my cupholder." The strategy shifts depending on factors like the weather, season and type of pest bird: For example, blueberry crops attract nesting birds like robins and finches. The falcons never kill - they just reroute unwanted birds - because Blankenship provides just enough food to keep their energy high but catch-and-kill motivation low.
Worst day at work: "When everybody doesn't get home," she says. Falcons can be injured by barbed wire or power lines, get attacked or be hit by automobiles.

FF7 Content Warnings
people wanted me to remake this since the old one got nuked so here we are! this game is 26 years old and most of the visual stuff isn't very graphic cause the character models look like legos but I'm still gonna mention them. also I won't reveal exactly what happens to avoid spoilers but just let me know if you want more context!
the main cast of characters are terrorists. they commit terrorism at the very beginning of the game by blowing up a power plant
there's a part early on in the game where Cloud cross dresses in order to save Tifa from a perverted mob boss. it is not hidden at all that this guy sexually abuses women on a daily basis. during this point of the game you are also able to go into a love hotel and there's a fair bit of sexual content (Remake keeps this but the love hotel is turned into a strip club that Cloud has to dance at and it has a sweet message about expressing yourself and not being restricted by old fashioned gender norms. it's nice! 10/10 change!)
the mob boss character returns in a sidequest later in the game and starts going after Yuffie. Yuffie is 16.
a character calls another character a r*tard in an optional scene (you can skip this by choosing to barge through the front entrance of the Shinra Building instead of taking the stairs)
one of the heads of Shinra (Hojo) suggests forcing Aerith to have sex with Red XIII in order to save their bloodlines. doesn't help that Red XIII is a cat. (Remake once again tweaks this. Hojo instead suggests having one of the military soldiers r*pe Aerith which definitely isn't much better. but the other villains he suggests this to are uncomfortable with the idea (minus the president) so it is acknowledged as being extremely fucked up)
there is. a lot of abuse in this game. physical, mental, verbal, child, domestic, ect.. one of the abusers is actually one of the party members, but he gets better by the end of the game
Aerith has been stalked by the government since she was a little kid
some characters are just straight up tortured
multiple characters are shot. two are permanently injured, one is killed and another one is killed but experimented on and made immortal
two main characters are captured by the government and are set to be executed via a gas chamber on live television. they escape but one of them is put in the gas chamber for a bit
a character commits suicide by jumping off a cliff
people are stabbed a lot. a villain is stabbed to death in his office early in the game, a main character is stabbed to death at the end of the first disc and another main character is stabbed in the chest in a flashback. all of these stabbings are committed by Sephiroth
there's a section of the game where Cloud is able to go on a date with Tifa, Aerith, Yuffie or Barret. the Yuffie one is a little uncomfortable since she's 16 and Cloud is 21, though it is mostly played off for laughs and Cloud is annoyed the whole time. the Barret one is also played off for laughs but there is also a weird part where Barret is convinced Cloud has a crush on Marlene (Marlene is 4). again it's mostly played off for laughs but it is still weird
two characters are implied to have sex before the final battle with Sephiroth
there is a bit of body horror! the most extreme example is with the character Jenova. a detailed image of her headless body is shown for a brief second and while it's not too graphic, her body is covered in veins, she has an eyeball where one of her nipples should be and there's a hole in her stomach with a giant tube coming out of it
Cloud is shown to have multiple PTSD induced flashbacks! they aren't frequent and aren't very heavy but they're there (Remake makes them a lot more frequent and realistic)
Sephiroth commits genocide and burns down a village in a flashback. this event is brought up and shown multiple times
one of the upper sections of Midgar falls onto the section below it, crushing thousands of people
strong language
drugs and alcohol
gore
there is some animal death. one of the biggest examples is when Sephiroth impales a giant snake monster on a tree. the image you see of the aftermath is actually kinda gross ngl
there's a scene where Cloud beats up one of the other party members (he can't control himself during this though)
a main character is hospitalized and wheelchair bound and it's revealed he has a medical condition known as Mako Poisoning
there is quite a bit of human and animal experimentation. some of these experiments are conducted on main characters
there is a lot of talk about the afterlife and what happens after you die. this is unavoidable and is a major part of the story
lots of military and government propaganda. the main characters don't fall for it and know the government is extremely fucked up, but it is in the background
there's an identity crisis
there's also a few moments of unreality
I think that's it??? I'll add more later if anything comes to mind. hopefully this one doesn't get lost again lmao

dc retconning slade’s backstory from volume 2 in order to make place for the odysseus storyline is such bullshit tbh especially since that whole storyline sucked, but also because it gave no insight into slade’s childhood. not to mention, an overpowered supervillain just doesn’t have the same impact as the mundane reality that is nathaniel wilson.
i will be honest and say that when i read this issue (deathstroke #8, 2011), i cried. which makes this one of only three comics i’ve cried over lol
but in my mind, i felt like a lot of things fell into place with regards to slade’s character
content warning for child abuse and sex trafficking below
i’ve gathered the relevant pages for the discussion
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here we see nathaniel being bad with money and always in need of it, always left to others’ mercy because of it. important to note.
Tumblr media
“he was weak. except for when he was with me.”
slade runs out to see if his father is alright and gets slapped for it. he obviously loves his father, the way all kids love their parents no matter the circumstances, and nathaniel, feeling weak, takes out his anger on slade and tries to feel strong and superior through being violent towards him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the scene cuts there, but i’d say it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what happens to a kid that’s sold to the mob....
Tumblr media
and for me, at least, this changes everything. like we've always known slade lied about his age to join the military (16 originally, but later writers changed it to 17). and i just----- was he running away from THIS?
slade is also described as a rather.... closed off person. adeline sees him smile for the first time when she has trained him for weeks or even months:
Tumblr media
and wintergreen and adeline both describe him as an intensely private person, to the point where adeline, who is married to him for years, says she never really knew him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this backstory, i feel like it gives some explanation as to why slade is the person that he is. it just HURT because we know slade grows up to be this closed off and emotionally cold person who wants to be a husband and a family father but who is really bad at it, and finding his refuge in violence…. violence and money. god, the obsession with money…. he was sold, and had nothing. so making a lot of money is pleasing to him, almost like it will keep him safe. almost like it will be a way of giving them the finger…. but instead he just ends up alone with no one in his life. he couldn’t even trust the woman he loves, and be vulnerable with her. and how could he? the only person he had ever loved before, his own father, sold him.
and i just think that it also explains why he goes after teenagers and other young people to fight *cough* and fuck *cough*, because they’re easy to dominate and manipulate, and slade is pathetic enough to need to push others down to feel strong. he’s a superpowered soldier-turned-mercenary, and he still goes after the “weak links”, the easy conquests.
but you know what else kills me?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he still pays for his father to be cared for! like yeah, he shows up to gloat, but still.... he pays for it. if it were me, i’d let that monster rot in a ditch. slade has ten thousand reasons not to pay for nathaniel’s care or to visit him even to gloat, but he still does it. that what makes me endlessly sad.
so yeah.... screaming and crying over a murderer who could snap me like a twig like "my little baby 😭"
i did a little sketch of 16yo slade with a black eye and a split lip, when he decided to run off to join the military:
Tumblr media
and i will definitely be exploring these themes in fics....
god, it really made me so sad. slade immediately went from being a badass to being a deeply tragic and pathetic figure. or maybe a little bit of both.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love ❤
a thousand times over ; T-rated 2k Choso & Yuuji post-chapter 137
this one was quite difficult to write as the tone i was trying to portray had been hard to pin down. but i love how it came out in the end
school days ; T-rated 3.5k shigaraki/bakugou no-powers au where LoV is a delinquent gang at bakugou's school
i just love cheesy romcom premises and making people read my awful jokes. like, this is my favorite sgbk fic ive ever written!
The luxurious life of a lap dog ; T-rated 5.9k mob & reigen same age au where reigen gets blackmailed by the student council to do their dirty work.
i wrote this when i was 16 and yes, while it does read as a 16yo wrote it, i absolutely love this piece. its timeless to me.
operation: hot for sensei ; T-rated 2.3k gojo -> yuuji age reversal au, where the sss gang tries to make goyu canon
im just weak for romcoms and dummy jokes. its genuinely my favorite thing to do.

I need you to talk to me about The Originals 1x04 (Don't hold back. Please and thank you😉)
Hmm. Hmm. Okay. Good episode. So far we’ve had Klaus and Hayley both decide that they want the baby. Rebekah has arrived and agreed to help find Elijah—as well as protect Hayley and the baby. Marcel, while having fallen prey to Klaus’s manipulations, has asked his willing witch prisoner Davina to find a way to kill the Originals, since she has one daggered in her attic.
The board is set. The pieces strategically aligned.
And Klaus decides to bring in a new player. Not truly new—Cami has already gotten involved with Marcel, and she’s even been compelled by Klaus. (such an honor!) She has some idea of how dangerous these people are—probably aware that they’re the mob. But now Klaus is ready to not only show her the board, but label all the pieces: vampire, witch, werewolf, hybrid.
Cami: okay, so he’s crazy.
(Nah, that would be my reaction.) Her immediate go-to upon being compelled is to ask about the science behind it. Meanwhile Klaus is like, idk! I’ve been doing this for a thousand years it just works, okay.
I also love how he stares dramatically at the painting they met over while he monologues—he literally went out and bought that from the artist after Cami randomly read him for filth in the square. The conversation affected him that deeply that he needed that painting, just so he could look at it from time to time in melancholy reflection.
She also reads him for filth in this first scene, giving him a basic diagnosis and recommendation for more therapy—while he is speaking melodramatically about plots against him, women trapped in situations, in need of saving, and how he’s really not evil, he’s just taking appropriate measures against tyranny!
I adore how Cami keeps her composure all the way through this megalomaniacal speech—only protesting when he brings up her boyfriend Marcel. Personal/professional boundaries, Klaus!
All in all, this opening scene gives us a great insight into how the klamille relationship plays out: Klaus makes some grand, sweeping statement or gesture about the state of things, Cami remarks on his…uh…less than stellar mental state, Klaus responds by doing something to *impress* or intimidate her, but she simply questions the mechanisms of it. Mind control is not a scientific term!
Meanwhile, back at the church attic: I put way too much time and effort into this please clap
Nah, Davina wants to keep Elijah, even though Marcel promised to return him to Klaus. (What? He’s handsome, I get it)
But then she immediately changes the subject and asks Marcel to go to a concert. She gets a little petty, throwing a witchy temper tantrum in the form of boiling Marcel’s blood to get him to agree (or she could be convincing him that she can defend herself if necessary, but I really get the vibe she’s just being a teenager. “It’s not a phase, Dad!” “Sometimes I think you forget what I’m capable of.”)
Davina’s dresses are…adorable in early season 1. They really wanted this innocent, virgin-Mary-esque image for her, and they got it. She truly does seem like a child, even though she’s meant to be 16—the same age as Elena and her friends when tvd started (although the actress was much closer to 16 than the tvd actresses, so it makes sense).
Marcel’s reaction is very interesting. He looks nervous and uncomfortable for a moment before grinning and giving in. (he says it’s a compromise, but he really does just give in. She’s such a daddy’s girl. 😁) Sometimes I miss the odd little moments of distrust and posturing between them. Yes, they care for each other, but they’re still sizing each other up. Looking for weaknesses. Assessing the worth of their alliance. This comes in handy later in the episode!
…and seeing how long this post is getting from just two scenes, I’m putting the rest under a cut. Spoilers!
When Klaus approaches Cami at Rousseau’s, she spouts off some exposition about compulsion—for the uninitiated, those who haven’t seen tvd and still need some reminders on how the world works. But we get this little gem about what Cami thinks of Klaus (paraphrased): “you leave, and I go back to thinking you’re just a hot guy with a cute accent and money to burn on his sprawling memoirs.” Okay Cami, I see you girl 😉 don’t worry, we’ve all been there.
This line also sticks out, when he is preparing to compel her to meet Marcel and Davina. “You’re going to force me to do this, aren’t you? Why even bother with politeness?”
Yeah yeah, his answer is some trite “I like you” but that’s him, isn’t it? He comes in with his smug smile and demure posture and the accent he thinks is suave and smooth and persuasive, thinking he can verbally strong-arm everyone into doing what he wants. But when that fails, he just falls back on mind control. Still a strong-arm, less pleasant. Sorry, Klaus, you can’t win on charisma alone!
Oh, Hayley’s subplot! I forget how there was always a witch just…hanging around the plantation house in the early episodes. She’s also reading What to Expect When You’re Expecting, a nice touch. She’s probably not paying much attention.
And Rebekah is looking on Google Maps for a church attic! Our little Nancy Drew Mikaelson. Klaus is skeptical of it, but she actually does find the church this way. The internet isn’t all bad!
She makes a side trip to the vampire’s nest, where we see her slightly hate-flirting with Diego—one of my favorite minor characters from season 1. O fun background characters, where have thou gone? Also, Claire is gorgeous 🥰
Aww, and we get a glimpse into who Davina used to be, before all this harvest nonsense happened to her! She was apparently a normal girl who went to school, had crushes. Practiced magic on the side. But her only true friends seem to be other witches—Monique and Cassie and…that’s it, I guess? Yeah, they don’t go too much into Davina’s inner life.
But I get the sense that the French Quarter coven is a little like religious fundamentalists here in the US. Strict upbringing, rules on who the kids can talk to/be influenced by. Sophie references this too later, that her traveling and becoming a chef at a bar was a big *rebellion* by their standards. They don’t go too much into it, but it just seems a little cult-y to me. Not to mention the whole…child sacrifice…thing we learn about later. (Hey I never said this show was perfect—it says a lot of things, but it doesn’t always know what it’s saying!)
Anyway, back to the little fiddler Tim. He’s adorable, and I really wish we’d gotten to know him even a little better. True, he was just a plot device—but he was a glimpse into Davina’s world, and we don’t get too much of that.
Marcel is oblivious to how weirdly accepting Cami is of all these red flags he’s leaving scattered about. “We all have our hot-headed moments,” she says, smiling sycophantically and shrugging nonchalantly. If I didn’t know the truth, I’d be yelling girl run.
But if Cami is oblivious to Marcel, she sees what Marcel misses—Davina’s crush on the cute curly-haired fiddler. (He looks like a Timothee Chalamet prototype, now that I think about it.)
Ooh, and this episode is where we meet the wonderful, enigmatic Father Kieran! I first saw Todd Stashwick in a fantastic, one-off episode of Supernatural where he plays, I kid you not, Dracula—who is obsessed with old monster movies. It’s campy and hilarious and I highly recommend it, even to non-spn fans! Anyway, the hey-it’s-that-guy actor gives a great performance here in this other campy, supernatural drama.
His quick thinking when Rebekah tries to compel him? Brilliant. How else would he have avoided attention? He’s a smart dude.
And we get his backstory—which is also tangentially Cami’s backstory—of the St. Anne’s massacre. Sean murdering people, and then himself, with a sickle.
“You’re standing on blood.”
“I’m not squeamish.”
A+ line for Rebekah, honestly. Written, delivery, just. *chef’s kiss* that’s her.
Elijah’s vision gives us what is technically our first present-day Relijah interaction in this show. Long overdue, imo.
I’ve already spoken about how TO simplifies the Rebekah/Elijah relationship to “siblings who care a lot about each other and don’t necessarily want to fight on any given day.” Which, honestly, I prefer to the sneering and posturing they did to each other on tvd.
They hug, because they’re happy to see each other! They’re happy the other is okay!
This plot point does bring up an interesting bit of lore that TO kind of neglects: in order to neutralize the Originals, the dagger must first be dipped in white oak ash. This is why Elijah can wake up after Davina pulls the dagger out—she didn’t re-dip it in white oak ash before re-stabbing him. But TO glosses over the why, and as far as I remember, never explicitly states the lore about ash again, even though we see originals get daggered many times over the course of the series.
But enough silly plot logic. This show is about family! And I’m okay with at least one sibling relationship being just…uncomplicated affection. One could even make a case that they’re the most themselves around each other. This is how they were as humans—kind, loving, lots of care for each other and those around them.
Hayley gets into some trouble in the bayou—our first real glimpse of her as a Tough Grrl who Fights For Herself. She is also rescued by Rebekah and a Mysterious Wolf. (instead of a Horse Girl, Hayley’s a Wolf Girl) but other than that, this mainly acts to set up the plot for the next few episodes (which I enjoy immensely!)
Back to Davina and her Cute Fiddler—their reunion serves as background noise to the real star of the episode, Cami’s trauma and her musings on the nature of evil and humanity.
“The world is an awful place. Best to meet it on its own terms.”
“No. The world isn’t awful. People aren’t awful. They want to be good. Something makes them bad.”
(In Klaus’s case it was rejection, daddy issues, and time. Stir and simmer for a millennium.)
But Cami’s desperation to understand her brother’s senseless killings, his suicide, is the first glimpse we get into her psyche. Her world. So far she’s just been a tool in the narrative. She could’ve been anyone. But now she’s someone. Someone who not only listens and responds to Klaus, but who has her own problems and her own worries. Her brother—her twin brother—killed people with no warning. And if she, who knew him like no one else did, couldn’t see it coming, how can she protect herself from the same?
Klaus: I don’t know anything about this and all I can say is “stand alone against your demons” because that’s all I’ve done and clearly it’s working great for me. Okbyetimeforyoutogo
(He’s not great at therapy. Or encouragement in general.)
He then struts down to the altar where he plants himself in front of Jesus and mother Mary and postures to Davina. What an incredible show. The audacity. I love it.
Same as before, Klaus tries to win her over by being suave and smooth and genteel. But that doesn’t work—so he pouts and uses brute force. Since he can’t compel Davina, he goes for her cute fiddler. Oh no!
Davina shatters the windows and then runs outside (?) in search of Tim. Meanwhile Klaus has him up top, where he unceremoniously tosses him over the railing. And then his fiddle. (Oh my gosh I hate him so much.)
I think this is meant to imply Davina thinks she hurt Tim with her magic, and Klaus can heal him to make her owe him something. Unfortunately, this is something I don’t think they ever circle back to—except that it cements Davina’s eternal and undying hatred for Klaus, something that never leaves, not even after the Few Seasons Fatigue sets in. She will always hate him. I respect her for that, but it does get boring. Girl, this is literally the Klaus Mikaelson Show. Accept it.
“If he remembers meeting you and comes knocking, poor Timothy might end up caught in an awful scheme to control you…again.”
Oh my GOSH he’s awful. The devil emoji was made for him.
And there’s another small hint of conflict between Marcel and Davina! When he asks her what happened at the church, why she’s there, she retorts rather resentfully, “I live here, remember?” Another fascinating thing that never quite comes full circle.
Klaus’s little snarl when he finds out Hayley has disappeared. His little smirk when he learns the baby has healed Hayley.
And we end on the star of the episode again—Cami’s sad, sad story. She invites Klaus in rather blithely—“this is super weird. Come in.” Girl, even uncompelled you have awful boundaries. Don’t let your employer in your house at night! Even if he asks politely! Even if you think his accent is cute!
Once again, Klaus reduces her agency. He takes away her part of the story—her brother’s suicide, her investigation, her worries. She is nothing more than a tool in his story, the story of how he wrested the city back from Marcel and became king of New Orleans. She can’t afford to have her own life, it’ll get in the way of his! Not to mention Sean’s breakdown is a dead end—he’s dead and he’s not coming back. So he must compel this interesting story out of her. But he’ll feel a little bit bad about it.
I love this line, where he appeals to family, to him trying to honor his brother (lol. You were the one who put him in a coffin, Klaus! You caused at least half these problems!) And Cami shoots back: “what about my brother?” because family in the abstract isn’t important to Klaus. Klaus’s family is important to Klaus, and only in that he can use them to help him retake the city.
It really makes me sad we never get to see Cami before Sean died. She goes through this show missing half of herself, and it’s implied she changed a lot after hearing the news. Yet we don’t hear much about it even past this season.
I’ve always thought the season doesn’t really get started until Elijah’s back with us. So, I guess the end of this episode is where the show really starts! Everyone welcome back the creepy guy in a suit who likes hanging out with little girls in attics—Elijah Mikaelson, guys!
We’ll be back this time next week to see who eats who: Elijah…or Davina.

FOCUS ON THE TRUTH THAT MATTERS
WELCOME If you have only once chance to say one thing to those who mean the most to you on earth, what would you say & why?
WORD Acts 21:15-20
15 After this, we started on our way up to Jerusalem. 16 Some of the disciples from Caesarea accompanied us and brought us to the home of Mnason, where we were to stay. He was a man from Cyprus and one of the early disciples.
Paul’s Arrival at Jerusalem 17 When we arrived at Jerusalem, the brothers and sisters received us warmly. 18 The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James, and all the elders were present. 19 Paul greeted them and reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
20 When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul: “You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law. 21 They have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs. 22 What shall we do? They will certainly hear that you have come,23 so do what we tell you. There are four men with us who have made a vow. 24 Take these men, join in their purification rites and pay their expenses, so that they can have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know there is no truth in these reports about you, but that you yourself are living in obedience to the law. 25 As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality.” 26 The next day Paul took the men and purified himself along with them. Then he went to the temple to give notice of the date when the days of purification would end and the offering would be made for each of them.
Paul Arrested 27 When the seven days were nearly over, some Jews from the province of Asia saw Paul at the temple. They stirred up the whole crowd and seized him, 28 shouting, “Fellow Israelites, help us! This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere against our people and our law and this place. And besides, he has brought Greeks into the temple and defiled this holy place.”29 (They had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with Paul and assumed that Paul had brought him into the temple.) 30 The whole city was aroused, and the people came running from all directions. Seizing Paul, they dragged him from the temple, and immediately the gates were shut. 31 While they were trying to kill him, news reached the commander of the Roman troops that the whole city of Jerusalem was in an uproar. 32 He at once took some officers and soldiers and ran down to the crowd. When the rioters saw the commander and his soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. 33 The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done.34 Some in the crowd shouted one thing and some another, and since the commander could not get at the truth because of the uproar, he ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks.35 When Paul reached the steps, the violence of the mob was so great he had to be carried by the soldiers.36 The crowd that followed kept shouting, “Get rid of him!”
Paul Speaks to the Crowd 37 As the soldiers were about to take Paul into the barracks, he asked the commander, “May I say something to you?”
“Do you speak Greek?” he replied.38 “Aren’t you the Egyptian who started a revolt and led four thousand terrorists out into the wilderness some time ago?” 39 Paul answered, “I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no ordinary city. Please let me speak to the people.”
40 After receiving the commander’s permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned to the crowd. When they were all silent, he said to them in Aramaic[a]:
Paul & the team have now arrived in Jerusalem, bearing a much needed financial gift for the brethren. It is amazing how this gift was given by Gentile believers for their Jewish brethren in Christ. The gospel of Jesus truly has the power to unify us & remove barriers that naturally exists between people from different backgrounds. It was also a testimony of Paul’s fruitful ministry to the Gentiles despite of all the troubles he encountered along the way. What motivated Paul as he planted churches from one Gentile city to the next can be seen through his own words in 2 Corinthians 5:14 14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.
which tells us that it was the love of Christ. This was what Paul held as of highest importance in his life.
Acts 21:16
16 Some of the disciples from Caesarea accompanied us and brought us to the home of Mnason, where we were to stay. He was a man from Cyprus and one of the early disciples.
introduce us to a long time believer from Cyprus named Mnason. He welcomed Paul & his team to stay at his home. Nothing more is said of him, but Mnason was probably discipled by those early believers who fled persecution in Jerusalem which Saul instigated. Now, because of Jesus, Mnason & the rest of the Jerusalem brethren welcomed Paul gladly.
Acts 21:17
Paul’s Arrival at Jerusalem 17 When we arrived at Jerusalem, the brothers and sisters received us warmly.
Mnason, like Philip
Acts 21:8-9
8 Leaving the next day, we reached Caesarea and stayed at the house of Philip the evangelist, one of the Seven.9 He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied.
has obviously forgiven Paul & relates to him now as a brother in Christ. How about us, is there someone from our family & church family who has hurt us in the past, that we do not welcome warmly because we have not forgiven them? Paul recounts in detail all that God has done among the Gentiles & the Jerusalem elders were glad & glorified God.
Acts 21:19-20
19 Paul greeted them and reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
20 When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul: “You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law.
We celebrate God’s goodness when we count every blessing He gives, small or great as we give Him thanks & glory that He deserves. The Lord is doing many amazing things among us. What has God done in your life that you can thank Him & give glory to Him for?
Acts 21:21-26
Then he went to the temple to give notice of the date when the days of purification would end and the offering would be made for each of them.
seems to act as a buffer between the warm hospitality of the believers & the hostile reception by unbelievers towards Paul. This passage shows us how Paul was “firm with the essentials” & “flexible with the non-essentials” of the Christian faith. With non-essentials such as certain religious practices in this case, the purification rituals that Jews who have come from Gentile places must undergo when they enter Jerusalem; Paul was more than willing to fulfill so as not to cause anyone to question his gospel message & teachings about Christ. He followed the instructions of the Jerusalem church elders & completed what was required for his ritual purification. What are some of the essentials of the Christian faith that we must be firm with? This is so important, as Jesus himself considered it so crucial when He prayed that all believers in Him will become one.
John 17:20-21
Jesus Prays for All Believers 20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
When we are united in the essentials of the faith, then the world will know that we belong to Jesus & they will take notice of the love we have within the family of God. The deity of Christ, the Trinity, the gospel, salvation by grace alone by faith alone, are some of these essentials. Some of the non-essentials that we ought to be flexible about would be the style of worship services, signs & wonders, timing of the second coming of Christ, divorce & remarriage. To fellow believers, the one thing that we should say ought to be “I love you. Let us major on the essentials.” Someone once wisely gave this guidelines we all should follow, “In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity.” Despite Paul’s submission to the non-essential Jewish religious beliefs, his presence in Jerusalem during Pentecost was met with hostility by the Jews. He was falsely accused that he “is the man who preaches to all men everywhere against our people & the law & this place & besides he has even brought Greeks into the temple & has defiled this holy place” (verse 28). The situation quickly became dangerous for Paul, especially since the accusation had to do with the law. The Feast of Pentecost was given by then a Jewish celebration of how God gave the law to Israel. Paul soon found himself violently brought out of the city gates, getting beaten by a Jewish mob intent on ending his life (verse 30-31). But God, just in time, rescued Paul through the Roman authorities; a commander took Paul, bound in chains & had him protected by soldiers from the angry crowd who wanted him dead (verse 32-38). Paul bound in chains, knew this day would come as Agabus prophesied back in
Acts 21:10-11
10 After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabuscame down from Judea. 11 Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, “The Holy Spirit says, ‘In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bindthe owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.’”
Blooded & badly beaten, yet calm & focused, Paul courteously asked permission from the Roman commander to allow him to address his detractors. The commander allows Paul to speak & while the apostle spoke in Greek to the commander, he now turns to speak to his fellow Jews in Aramaic. Under extreme stress, Paul displays amazing self-control & focus, traits that can only come from the filling of the Holy Spirit! This is where Acts 21 ends & we may wonder what would Paul tell this crowd of hostile unbelievers? This was probably the only chance he would ever get to address this group of people. We will learn more about this in Acts 22, but we can be certain that this is the truth that we are to share to those who are not yet believers in Christ: “Jesus loves you. He is the essential for your life.”

Sunday, September 28, 1919, a white lynch mob formed after word spread that a white woman, Agnes Loebeck, accused a Black man, Will Brown, of raping her.
The news reported that Loebeck and her fiancé alerted the police that they were assaulted on the evening of September 25. Loebeck identified the 41-year-old Will Brown as her attacker after police brought Brown to her home. A lynch mob gathered outside her house and tried to take him, but law enforcement managed to get Brown away from the vigilantes and to the courthouse jail.
The mob did not disperse:
A group of youths gathered in south Omaha and began a march to the Douglas County courthouse. Eventually, thousands of angry people gathered at the courthouse and by evening, the Omaha police and city officials inside the courthouse were virtual prisoners. The size of the crowd was estimated as between 5,000 and 15,000 people. By 8:00 p.m. the mob had begun firing on the courthouse with guns they looted from nearby stores. In that exchange of gunfire, one 16-year-old leader of the mob, and a 34-year-old businessman a block away were killed. By 8:30 the mob had set fire to the building and prevented fire fighters from extinguishing the flames. Inside, Will Brown moaned to Sheriff Mike Clark, “I am innocent, I never did it, my God I am innocent.”
The mayor tried to reason with the mob, but the white terrorists knocked him out and moved to shoot, hang, and burn Will Brown in full view of the town. The U.S. Army arrived that evening and federal troops suppressed the mob, but they were too late to save Brown.
The Army began to arrest mob ringleaders on the basis of photographs confiscated from the public…Even though photographs identified members of the mob, all of the suspects were eventually released. [Zinn]

Minecraft Is Coming To Sport Pass For Computer

It is a sport that is out there on just about each platform, and now a brand new announcement says the Computer model of the sport shall be coming to Xbox Sport Pass subsequent month.
In a publish on the official Minecraft website, after the live occasion went forward yesterday, the game will certainly be coming to the Microsoft subscription service. For these wondering which model it is going to be that's coming to Game Go, Java or Bedrock edition, it is going to be each, based on the submit. This means gamers will get the best of each worlds. The Java model was the original construct and is healthier for modding, but the Bedrock version is better for cross-play. Nonetheless, it does not seem that cross-play between Java and Bedrock might be doable at this stage.

There may be already a console version of Minecraft by Recreation Go, so this newest replace will merely convey it to the Laptop port, which is speculated to be obtainable on November 2, so there's just over two weeks to wait. Daily Drabble 157- Frenzy
The mob seethed with mindless hate, all individual voices lost in the tumult.
"These people aren't evil. They're infected." Dr Weaver said.
"Tell that to the folks they've been tearing apart." Luke replied, checking his blaster once more. "Doc, we can't let 'em pass."
"Butch, the field's at 16%." Jonesy called.
Jake looked up, the hazy, transparent barrier flickered.
"They're gonna breach soon." He stood up, snapping the visor down on his helmet. "Get the civilians inside, Doc."
There were 25 members of the 37th left, against thousands of the crazed enemy.
"Make ready, folks, this is gonna be rough."

Romance in MXTX, Priest, and SHL
MXTX: Flower, Wine and Dreamworld
The romance in MXTX's works is like flower that grows in ice and snow; colorful, bright and hopelessly romantic, blossoms in misery and hardships.
It features a distinct "us against the world" mindset, depicting love as the only constant in the world. It's an eternal "dreamworld" detached from worldly matters, the perfect escapism as well as a source of strengths in the face of cruel reality.
Both MDZS and TGCF are a critique of mob mentality.
The contrast between CQL and MDZS is very interesting. While the former ends with LWJ taking charge, and therefore changing the world for the better, the novel ends with wangxian isolating themselves from grand politics and focusing more on helping individuals as recluse. It has an essentially pessimistic attitude towards the morality & intelligence of the collective.
TGCF takes a slightly more optimistic approach, featuring the crowd being courageous under the right circumstances. However, both works share a similar undertone: putting one’s absolute faith in the collective is dangerous, whereas unconditional trust and devotion can be only found in one-to-one connection
MXTX herself compares MDZS and TGCF to 花间一壶酒 (A cup of wine among flowers), MDZS being the wine and TGCF being flower. She also compares MDZS to 风雪夜归人, the person returning home from snow and wind, and TGCF to 红泥小火炉, a small red furnace.
Priest: Breezing Wind and Burning Iron
The romance in priest's works is more complicated. It's the most gentle in its normal state, when it is rational and collected, in which case it's like the breezing wind, soothing, sweet and light-hearted. It gives the individuals more incentive to achieve their individual and/or societal vision, as well as more reason to value their own lives & well-being.
In Faraway Wanderers, the most distinct feature of WenZhou relationship is how in naturally sync they are, and how comfortable & smooth their dynamic is. They both have past burden, but it doesn’t matter, because they bring simple joy, understanding and happiness in each other’s lives.
In Sha Po Lang and The Guardian, the ML’s lingering love for the MC motivates them to become better version of themselves, to care about others, and to form a holistic vision about bettering society.
In The Defective, Lin Jingheng(MC) explicitly said that Lu Bixing(ML) is the only meaning in his life. He had little incentive to care about his own life after his revenge plan fell apart. LBX helped him reconnect with his inner idealism, and gave him a reason value his life.
When the passion and fiery energy manifests itself, however, the romance is like burning iron, blood and fire. It isn’t actually toxic or unhealthy, but it's not pure and innocent either; in this case, it strives for something deeper and more intense, never content with the past or the present. The sheer intensity of relationship is like a double-edged sword, walking the fine line between unconditional devotion and dangerous obsession.
SHL: Spring Water and Healing Open Wounds
The romance in SHL is like "spring water"; it's warm, gentle, nurturing. It breaks through the boundary between individuals to bring the couple closer to each other, taking them back to a utopia of their childhood dream, away from social pressure and responsibility. The theme central to their relationship is “salvation”: how love is able to bring people back to integrity.
Both drama wkx and drama zzs have lots of regret about their past sins and wrongdoings. Four Seasons Manor is essentially a metaphor for purity, acceptance and the safety of childhood home. How to make drama wkx open up and accept this safe harbor as his home is one of the most significant plot-lines of the show.
SHL couple is way more emotionally vulnerable and expressive. A significant part of SHL arc is healing the wounds in an open and honest way. They cuddle and confide in each other way more often, talk about their shameful past and even cry about their regrets in front of one another, which is very rare among MXTX/Priest works.
The heat of the relationship sometimes gets too hot and even burns; in other words, there are constant miscommunications, conflicts and misunderstandings in the relationship. However, they can never let each other go, because it's the only source of warmth left for them in their hopeless lives filled with regrets and guilt.
Similarities and Differences
*Note that this is not a SHL/TYK comparison. TYK is kind of an “unorthodox” priest novel; you will know what I mean if you have read 3+ of her works.
Relationship Dynamic & Narrative:
In MXTX’s works, the concept of “romance” itself is divined; and the characters are illustration of the ideal of “undying love”. People are made for one another, to complete one another. Her works use colorful symbolism (silver butterflies, the emperor’s smile, the 3 thousand lanterns, etc.) to depict this romanticized ideal of love.
For MXTX, the romanticization of “destined love” is one of the most recurring themes of her novels. Therefore, the readers look at their relationship through rose-color glasses. Obsession is usually framed in a jolly & romantic light, and doesn’t feature much tension or stress, and has less negative or unhealthy undertone.
In most of priest’s works and SHL, soulmates are not born but made, so they have to figure out how their relationship works step by step. Therefore the narrative is less of a “rosy picture”.
Priest has a habit of using derogatory terms to describe relationships that are mostly healthy, but somewhat “bloody” and edgy, full of excessive passion and obsession. The most common phrase is “爱生忧怖”, a Buddhist term meaning “love results in worry and fear”.
SHL obviously has to be more subtle in expressing love. That said, drama WenZhou are way more emotionally vulnerable and expressive than their novel counterparts, as well as most Priest & MXTX characters. They have a dramatic falling out once in a while, even towards the end. They barely fit the Chinese definition of Zhiji (to know me/to understand one another), but are “lovers” who are buried deep in their passion instead.
Past, Future and Evolvement:
In SHL, characters are encouraged to treasure past impressions that are thrown in figurative “wrappings”, whose luster is derived from age-old experiences (Psychological Types, Carl Jung). In other words, they are encouraged to root their love in a shared past, a Utopia of innocence.
The contrast between The Defective and Word of Honor is very interesting to observe. Both involve long separation, and the suffering and personality changes hat comes from it.   SHL narrative frames their innocent childhood as something to cling to and return to. Drama WKX is encouraged to accept his identity as Four Seasons Manor disciple because it was part of his childhood past. This is a significant part of drama WenZhou relationship.
In The Defective, the narrative doesn't encourage the couple to dwell on the past that much. On the contrary, the all-knowing AI explicitly discouraged the MC from “comparing past to present”. They are advised to accept changes, however painful it might be, and build a better, more equal dynamic out of it, evolving from one-sided pandering to fighting side-by-side.
In Priest’s novels, the characters rarely return to something in the past, but look into the future. Change is usually framed as inherently beneficial, albeit usually painful and rocky, the implication being that you need to constantly strive for something better.
Sha Po Lang is a good example of this, with Gu Yun’s changing attitude towards Chang Geng after he as he matures, gradually showing his intelligence in politics. CG starts referring to GY as Zixi instead of YiFu is also a sign of this change---to see him as equal rather than a parental figure & protector.
The Defective is even more obvious in this regard, with both parties uncomfortable with the change initially, but gradually adjusting to the changes during their 16-year separation. The ML also stops calling MC by his surname “Lin”, as a sign of viewing him as equal.
In MXTX’s works, change in personality or relationship dynamic is neither framed as painful or good. It just happens. It’s a natural flow that take place when it does. Their relationships are rarely challenged by change. They are objectively at a better place compared to their past, but it’s merely the result of a series of events rather than a deliberate choice or struggle.
WangXian’s relationship naturally changes over time after WWX’s rebirth, but neither of them really struggles with the change.
Xie Lian doesn’t even recognize Hua Cheng as the someone from his past, so they start out as friends getting to know each other.
Salvation and Changing one another:
Priest herself stated in an interview that she doesn’t believe in the concept of salvation, since people have the inner capacity to be their own savior. Therefore, priest characters usually don’t actively try to change their partner’s morals or personality. Some might be willingly influenced by their partner, but there’s rarely an element of moral condemnation. Even when there is a conflict between different values, the options are 1) to reconcile them by choosing the middle ground 2) to maintain their independence and tackle it with nuance 3) to break up.
On surface level, Mo Du/Silent Reading is about Luo Wenzhou being Fei Du’s salvation. However, as LWZ pointed out himself, Fei Du would’ve been a good person at heart with or without his influence.
In The Defective, when Lu Bixing mistakenly thought Lin Jingheng stayed in the Eighth Galaxy against his own wishes because of their relationship, and that their priorities are irreconcilable, he even thought about breaking up. Of course he was not serious about it, but this showcased that he would never try to change LJH’s convictions.
In SHL, however, the concept of salvation is central to the theme. Some find it strange that SHL make drama zzs the more “moral” one of the two, despite his action being more objectively questionable. In fact, the only reason he get framed as more “moral” is that he admitted his fault sooner, and therefore could guide drama wkx’s path back to salvation: to recognize the goodness in people, make peace with external world, to clear his name in Jianghu, and to follow due process with his revenge plan to avoid collateral damages.
“I tried to change you, but you end up changing me”, said drama ZZS. This relationship dynamic is never present in any of priest’s works I’ve read. Priest characters don’t *try* to change one another.
Does MXTX believe in salvation? Hard to tell. One could argue that Hua Cheng would have be way more amoral and even immoral if it hadn’t been for XL. This is complicated and is a topic for another time.
However, it is certain that MXTX MCs don’t condemn each other morally. “The orthodox one defending their unorthodox partner in front of the world” is a common wuxia trope, but the way MXTX novels approach it is very different from SHL.
HuaLian never had a serious falling out about being on different sides. Even when they disagree, they respect each other and love each other exactly the way they are. Hua Cheng didn’t approve of Xie Lian saving Mu Qing, but he didn’t interfere with Xie Lian’s decision. Xie Lian feels responsible for helping Shi Qingxuan in Blackwater arc, but he is perfectly fine with HC helping He Xuan keep secrets. In several cases where they have different values, they are able to make it work with ease.
LWJ never *morally* condemned WWX for his action, and never once objected to WWX practicing demonic cultivation after his rebirth. In fact, LWJ never objected to WWX’s morals; in their previous life he was worried about his safety, and struggled with what to do about certain situations due to his family background, but difference in morality is not an issue for them.
The “righteous” one does not feel the need to guide their unorthodox partner or to be their salvation with regards to integrity.
*The similarity & differences part is a bit messy and some points are not fleshed-out. Sorry about that.
**I don’t claim to have the right interpretation. The lens by which we see different styles of romance is ultimately subjective.

⚠️ warning this post contains adult themes - do not read or engage if a minor ⚠️
To the anon who keeps telling me I'm being groomed - I hope you know my only two major online friends are @jenniferdiazisatransgirl and a spn blogger like 4 years younger than me.
I am also a while-ass adult with a degree in communication and social psychology, a full time job, a girlfriend, a dog, a car and irl friends.
Listen, I appreciate that you're coming from a good place, but have you ever thought maybe you're wrong? I'm not brainwashed, all of my arguments are backed by actual evidence, that I have listed. I haven't seen you attempt to refute one point I made. Instead you throw the straw man argument of paedophilia at me.
I never said I supported shipping minor characters with adult characters. I said I was against censorship on the internet. I said that a lot of the things people say is paedophilia on tumblr is not. I've seen people called paedophiles for:
Shipping a 19 year old with a 29 year old
Shipping a 16 year old with an 18 year old
Shipping a 20-something woman who looks young with someone the same age as her.
Shipping two 12 year olds together
This. Is. Not. Paedophilia. Is it morally wrong? I won't comment! You decide! That's not what's fucking important. If I see someone talking about being a "map" or a pedo? Blocked and reported. But let's be real, most of the pro censorship gang is only in it to feel morally superior about ship wars.
I've said it once, I'll say it again, I'll say it a thousand times: the argument isn't about paedophilia. It's not about abuse, it's not about incest, it's not about racism, or anything else the censorship mob likes to trot out. It's about whether or not censorship in online spaces should be allowed.
When someone tries to bring up the actual conversation, y'all shut up real fast. Because there is no logic behind your arguments. There is no evidence that any of this shit is actually damaging, there is no actual reason why well-tagged "squick" should be banned. The censorship gang stems from a knee-jerk reaction to uncomfortable topics, and the guilt free ability to bully people on the internet when you are morally superior to them.
I guarantee I'll get people coming back at me saying the same shit you did "you see a paedophile and think that's acceptable you're delusional". No. I see a paedophile and I block and report the blog. I have explicitly fucking stated that. Problem is, you don't actually have any real arguments against me, just the cult-like repetition of a straw-man argument.
Who's the one brainwashed again?
And here's another thing: do you campaign to get lolita banned? What about game of thrones? Shouldn't you be fighting to get GRRM locked up? I mean if writing problematic content means you want to do that, Georgie boy is the trifector of abuser, incest-committer, and paedophile. What about the creators of the show? The actors? Should Iwan Rheon be sentenced as a rapist? I mean, he was in misfits as well - another show that should be banned! Really he must like to explore problematic material, he must be problematic!
And if you aren't campaigning for these pieces of content to be banned then why the fuck do you believe small time fans should be censored? You really think Jane Normal writing a reylo fic has more of an impact than Lucasfilm having them kiss on screen???
That's some hardcore, mass scale cognitive dissonance right there! That or you're just a literal hypocrite.
I will not be responding to any subsequent anon asks about this topic. If you or anyone else sends me one, I will delete without reading. You want to argue with me? Do it off anon.
