infinity war and endgame: *presents near 6 hours of superhero content filled with various characters and storylines and a timeskip*
loki fans, as they should: *focus on the collective less-than-5-minutes of time Loki was on-screen or mentioned*
#there is a right to be mad after what happened#it is rather funny though that so many of the questions asked about the movie are literally about loki though#you can't just trash a beautiful character arc and then pretend the guy is going to die that easily too#@ marvel so is loki done being low-key suicidal or not#bc either he wasn't done recovering and therefore hadn't reached the end of his arc#or he wasn't done recovering and therefore hadn't reached the end of his arc#because he didn't even try to fight thanos with more than a knife#and I know there's trauma and ignoring that he can literally resurrect he still goes ahead and confronts an abuser#but then zooming in on his face too? making every other bad father also get a 'but he loved his kid and that's what matters' moment? BAD#so disrespectful to never even go on to acknowledge that Loki changed#Thor calls him the worst and then never mentions him again#not properly#in the end loki died and it's like that was just cut out from the rest of the narrative#thor already had the motive to want Thanos dead#it served no narrative purpose but to remove a character and that's the worst part about his death#he just#died#at the hands of an abuser who is treated like a righteous protagonist through the movie#and that's treated as if insignificant#so anyway yeah I still don't think Loki is dead and there's a bunch of legit in-universe reasons for it#but there's also the out-of-universe reason which has me raising a very judgemental eyebrow at the russos

Ragnarok Makes No Damn Sense (Part 1)
Having now laid out who Loki has always been and why there was an open agenda to demean and debase him, we come to why Thor: Ragnarok is antithetical to his character. Buckle your damn seatbelt. We've got a lot to unpack.
Off the bat, we're supposed to be appalled/annoyed/something that Loki has usurped the throne from Odin. Yet when last we left our heroes, Thor had abdicated his role as King of Asgard, knowing full well that Odin's health was failing, he was emotionally unfit to rule, and there was no other heir to fill his role. Oops! And for all that we're meant to believe in Loki's selfish ambitions for a throne, let us not forget that Loki-as-Odin at the end of The Dark World offered Thor this kingship. It was Thor who refused. What was it he said at the time? Oh, yes.
"For all his grave imbalance, Loki understood rule as I know I never will."
Now Ragnarok wants us to forget all that. It doesn't suit the narrative Taika Waititi wishes to spin. He wants us to believe that Loki is a terrible, lazy ruler who cares only about glorifying himself. But wait, is Loki a terrible ruler? The Hero™ tells us he is, so it must be so. And yet all we really know of Loki's reign is that he had a non-interventionist foreign policy, improved public infrastructure, and supported the arts. Wow, yeah, what a dick.
We will soon go on to meet Doctor Strange, a character who in comparison to Loki is a novice at magic yet somehow repeatedly manages to get the drop on the trickster. This is necessary in order to minimize Loki's power and competence in the eyes of the viewer. Let me also explain why the "I have been falling for 30 minutes" scene is not charming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Does anyone think perhaps Loki may have a touch of PTSD related to the sensation of falling? No? Then perhaps we should instead analyze the deleted scene in which Loki is locked in a portapotty while men repeatedly urinate on him until Thor arrives to let him out. The fact that this was an idea someone had to begin with is gross. The fact that they came close enough to using it that it was actually filmed is downright shameful. Every single person at Marvel involved in approving this trash should commit seppuku in penance.
Tumblr media
Ignoring the sexual assault implications here... I mean, this is literally toilet humour. Literally. What are we, five years old? Who the hell actually finds this funny?
"I keep a watch list of individuals and beings from other realms that may be a threat to this world." - Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok
So how did you miss the huge, purple nutsack wreaking havoc across the cosmos? I mean, no offense. I'm just saying.
Now we have the culmination of Odin's A+ parenting. He's at the end of his life just because he feels like it, I guess, so now it's time to pretend he gives a damn about Loki for a few seconds again. One "I love you" without even looking at him is supposed to make a millennium of emotional abuse and neglect all better or something. Even in his death, Odin can't seem to stop screwing with Loki's mind. What a charming man, I'll sure miss him.
Oh, but before he's on his way, he has a teensy weensy confession to make. Remember when he lied to you about your entire existence, Loki? LOL! He lied to Thor about being the firstborn too! And now the evil sister neither of you knew you had is coming to destroy everything and he's given you no time to plan how to stop her! Don't you feel much better now?
It's been about five minutes since we were reminded that Loki is a coward and an idiot or something, so contrary to Tom Hiddleston's own words that
"The thing with Loki is that, if he’s afraid, he won’t show it. He’s been highly trained, through the experience of his slightly traumatic life, to shield his fears."
it became necessary for Loki to immediately panic and lead Hela straight to the one place he knows she'll be most powerful. Whoops!
Tumblr media
The Warriors 3 are quickly dispatched by Hela because it's important we remember that the first two Thor movies were trash and nothing that ever happened in them has any meaning. By the way, Heimdall is Thor's new BFF now and Thor will never mention his former friends ever again. Ever. Like, even in passing. Like they never existed. Those people who committed literal treason for him both before and after he was banished in Thor (2011). And then again in The Dark World. Those friends.
Meanwhile, Thor and Loki have both landed on a planet called Sakaar. It's a giant trash heap and that about sums up how I feel about this whole damn movie, so credit to TW for the symbolism, I suppose. Here's possibly the most cringeworthy moment in the whole debacle—and that's a very high bar. Or low, I guess, depending on how you look at life.
Tumblr media
He's a Norse god... screaming, "oh my god!" I don't have enough hands for all the facepalming I feel like doing right now.
Anyhow, Loki and Thor have arrived on Sakaar separately and Thor has just noticed Loki sitting across the room, casually joking about his own suicide attempt. Because there's nothing funnier than suicide, amirite?! Especially when you still haven't sorted through any of the complex issues that led you to become suicidal to begin with. Who cares? We're just here for the lulz, yeah?
Tumblr media
"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Korg, I'm the director's annoying self-insert, and I'll be pissing on every poignant moment from here on out because reflection is for nerds. You just need to smile more."
Hey, remember that time in The Dark World where Loki was stuck in solitary confinement for a year and Thor didn't come to visit him even once? Now Thor is the one locked up and Loki has come to visit him almost immediately. To offer his help. To try to relate. Maybe mourn the loss of... everything together. But Thor's not interested in relating. He's interested in scapegoating Loki, because that's what this family does.
"What would you like me to say? You faked your own death, you stole the throne, stripped Odin of his power, stranded him on Earth to die, releasing the Goddess of Death.” - Thor, Thor: Ragnarok
To borrow a phrase from the late Luke Skywalker, "Amazing. Every word of what you just said is wrong."
► Loki has never faked his death. What he did is fail to die on Svartalfheim, through no fault of his own. It seems a little insane I have to defend Loki's right to not die, but here we are, I guess.
"We planned to have Loki have a redemptive death[...]We think he's wounded, but it wasn't a death blow." - Kevin Feige, The Dark World DVD extras
"Loki probably in his heart wants to be worthy, and the way he achieves his redemption—his salvation—is to ultimately sacrifice himself, for Thor and for Jane. I hope it’s a very cathartic and moving moment, by saving his brother’s life and avenging his mother’s death." - Tom Hiddleston, The Dark World DVD extras
The worst that can be said of Loki's "betrayal" of Thor at the end of The Dark World is that he failed to inform him that he had survived. And Loki had very good reasons to do so. What had Thor offered him in exchange for his help with the Dark Elves? He would return him to his cell to live out the rest of his days in complete isolation—a fate that I will just reiterate is classified as a form of psychological torture.
► Loki didn't steal the throne. As mentioned above, he offered Thor the throne. Thor said no.
► There is zero evidence beyond Thor's own assumptions that Loki stripped Odin of his powers. We are meant to believe this only because we are told that it is so. On the contrary: "It took me some time to break free of your spell," Odin tells Loki before his death. But if Odin had been stripped of his power, how then did he eventually break free? Upon examination, Thor's logic fails.
► Loki did not "strand Odin on Earth to die". He left him in a freaking retirement home where he had every expectation that Odin would be well-cared for. An argument can certainly be made that after everything Odin has done to Loki in the past, Loki was downright merciful not to kill the old man in his sleep and be done with it.
► Loki had no way of even knowing Hela existed. How is her release his fault and not, say, Odin's for dealing with all his problem children by tossing them out and throwing away the key? Or for not preparing his sons for the day they would be forced to face her?
Oh well. Now it's time for Loki Is A Coward™, Part Deux, because as I may have mentioned previously:
"The thing with Loki is that, if he’s afraid, he won’t show it. He’s been highly trained, through the experience of his slightly traumatic life, to shield his fears." - Tom Hiddleston
MINOR ENDGAME SPOILER:
Reminder also that this was Loki's reaction to the Hulk in Endgame, only minutes after being beaten to a pulp by him
Tumblr media
Doesn't seem particularly frightened, but what do I know?
Hey, remember back in Thor (2011) when this happened? If the Valkyrie were already legend, why did Sif need to prove herself as a female warrior?
Tumblr media
Shhh. You were supposed to forget about that minor detail. Now back to the butt jokes.
Now let’s take a short intermission, shall we? Because this movie blows so hard that if I put all my criticisms in one post, it’ll probably break Tumblr.

so i just saw infinity war... actually by the time i get to post this i’ll have seen it hours ago. still. spoilers and everything else under the cut, so you were warned.
IDRIS ELBA IS THE FIRST ONE TO DIE. BITCH WHAT THE FUCK, THE THOR MOVIES DID JACK SHIT WITH HIM AND HIS LAST ACTION WAS TO SAVE SOME RANDOM AS FUCK WHITE DUDE??? NOT EVEN THOR. OKAY. NOT TO MENTION OF COURSE THE FIRST GUY TO DIE IS THE BLACK GUY.
loki dying doesn’t bother me, partially brace loki is a god so like i feel if marvel ever wanted to bring him back they could.
so that leaves gamora as the only other real death of the movie. and she was fridged for thanos and his development. real cute marvel, so far no one has called them out on it and i now that it’s had a us release everyone better. also i feel the mcu failed ti ever depict gamora as the deadliest woman in the galaxy, and i refuse to believe that gamora wouldn’t carry a suicide pill with her. like, she was a mercenary type lady before she never thought that she might have to kill herself before she asked peter quill? she had to know he wouldn’t have the balls.
as for everyone pulling that voldemort fade to paper bullshit, um... definitely would have preferred a skrull reveal because none of those characters are gone. if only because sony wouldn’t get rid of tom holland when they are going all in with their spideyverse. unless the rumors of them selling off their entertainment assets are true... in the meantime tho I STAN ONE MOTHERFUCKING QUEEN OF WAKANDA SHURI. tho avengers 4 already wrapped filming they have plenty of time to add more of her into the film after the success of black panther because really most of the wakandian set pieces were shown in the trailer. but also not a single original avenger pulled a voldemort and that sucks. tho when okoye said it would be the noblest death before all of that shit happened i almost cried.
as for the movie this really is more about thanos than the avengers. they talk a lot of shit about this being 10 years in the making, but really use this film to establish thanos and his backstory. there was also a sequence at the beginning of the film with wong and dr. strange explaining each of the fucking stones because the films have done such a half ass job of doing that up until now. i also thought that thanos’ motivation being population control was like an adaptation of dan brown’s inferno with a superhero twist. his comic motivation in infinity gauntlet was just to impress the mistress of death, and it’s equally weak but it could have meant more hela, i dunno. i wasn’t feeling his population control situation.
as for my other thoughts can we talk about how doctor strange and iron man are the same person? for a film willing to get meta about chris pratt’s less perfectly sculpted body but not that steven and tony are the same person... okay...
wanda maximoff is the fucking GOAT and of the two romances that had to kill their partner she was the real one. i know feige has said that captain marvel/carol danvers is the most powerful avenger but wanda sat there and destroyed something that has been around since the beginning of the universe. like bitch. guess it helps that her powers stem from the stones but still.
low key this is the same plot as suicide squad and is told in the same choppy and half assed wag and while i enjoyed that movie it was called out for all it’s problems. so i can’t wait to see the same thing happen here. i’d also like to take this moment to remind everyone that that movie won an oscar.
i also think that sidelining antman and hawkeye here was sorta trash, not that the movie needed more characters it didn’t know what to do with. i’d hope that since scott lang’s house arrest was mentioned and antman and the wasp comes out between now and avengers 4 that the fact the events in both movies happen concurrently is explained in the advertising? i mean you would still think that if hope and hank were breaking scott out while thanos was attacking that would be more important than getting janet van dyne out of the microverse? but i dunno.
as for the end credit scene, honestly wasn’t here for it. when it was announced that captain marvel would be taking place in the 90s a lot of people assumed that meant that at the end of the film she would enter some kind of suspended animated state and now that we know she’s available to be paged i’m really going to need to know where she’s been. especially if she’s as powerful as feige says.
but also that means that in this current era of superhero movies where female superheroes lead their own movies [ sorry wasp ] both have been introduced in a time that isn’t the present. i get that carol gets her powers from the kree and the kree don’t age, but like we’ve seen the kree a couple times in the mcu and carol’s existence hasn’t really been teased. so captain marvel and avengers 4 better give a good explanation.
i won’t waste my time saying you shouldn’t see this movie. at the same time tho this movie is just okay and for all the hype it didn’t meet it. it relied in “ten years in the making” and not solid storytelling. if any other studio put this out then we’d already be talking about how it has a 39 on rotten tomatoes.

10 Loki Memes Only Real Fans Will Understand | ScreenRant
Over the years, Loki has become the ultimate fan favorite - from his dark humor to his mischievous tricks, fans relate to the prince being misunderstood, laughed at, and pushed aside.
RELATED: 20 Things Everyone Gets Wrong About Loki
Though cunning and intelligent, it's no question that Loki's character development has also shown that he's got a heart of gold even though he tries really hard to mask it. From sacrificing himself for the greater good to being able to laugh at jokes with his brother he couldn't always see eye-to-eye with, here are 10 funny and relatable memes that only true fans of the God of Mischief will understand.
10 "No resurrections this time"
Tumblr media
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, many Loki fans were upset at the way the God of Mischief had died, or rather, given his life to defend his brother, Thor, at the hands of Thanos. After an attempt of trying to fool Thanos into thinking he was still on his side, Loki pulls out his dagger to stab him but fails. Thanos then chokes the Asgardian prince to death, leaving a distraught Thor to mourn his brother. Thanos claims, "No resurrections this time," as Loki had become notorious for faking his death.
However, the way Loki died in this scene seemed so unconvincing to fans that many joked about him being gone forever, using this meme from Thor: Ragnarok to mock anyone who believed he was really dead.
9 "I've never met this man in my life"
Tumblr media
Marvel's November 2017 box-office hit Thor: Ragnarok brought a gold mine of jokes into the MCU and, consequently, a new wave of memes for the internet.
After landing in Sakaar - the place for all lost and unloved things - Thor is surprised to see Loki there also. As he tries to call his brother over to him, Loki is taken aback by his brother's arrival to Sakaar, where time works differently. Having landed there before Thor, Loki had already been in Sakaar for a few weeks and established himself with new friends. He tells his brother he's never met him before - and it's become a hilarious meme when applied to pretending like we don't know someone or recognize someone when we obviously do.
8 He's low-key
Tumblr media
The first Thor movie was released by Marvel in 2011, which means Loki has been an MCU character for eight years. That also means that for the past eight years, Loki has been a meme of countless "low-key" jokes.
RELATED:  The 10 Worst Thing Loki Has Ever Done
Tom Hiddleston himself has even joked about the word-play in multiple interviews. However, fans of Thor and Loki know that the brothers argue and fight many times because of how different their personalities, goals, and aspirations are. In light of the fact that the princes are constantly clashing, this meme conveys that Loki is the more low-key of the two, painting Thor in a more "high-strung" and complicated light. Many Loki fans might say this is not at all true, which makes it even more hilarious.
7 The fear of missing out
Tumblr media
In Marvel's first Avengers movie, released in July 2011, it's Loki versus his brother and all of Earth's mightiest heroes. Back then, nobody liked Loki. It was hard to root for him, as the main enemy of the film.
But as more and more Marvel movies have revealed, we know now that Thanos was the puppet master behind many of the enemies that tried to push the Avengers and other heroes of the universe to their deaths. It's funny to look back on it now and think that perhaps Loki wasn't as evil as he was made out to be in the first Avengers movie, and maybe all he wanted was to be invited out to dinner with the rest of the team.
6 Loki, God of Mischief, Moodboard
Tumblr media
One of the reasons Loki fans adore his character so much is that over the past eight years, Marvel has developed Loki into someone who has become more and more relatable over time. Ever since the first Thor, it's established that Loki - despite all his tricks, lies, and deception - was at his core, the product of a troubled childhood and family dynamic.
Fans latched on to Loki's way of channeling deception to deal with his feelings. The meme below is a great summary of the character's multi-dimensional personality on every level from rage to sarcasm, something everyone feels but is too afraid to express sometimes - so Loki does it for them.
5 We're definitely related
Tumblr media
In Thor: Ragnarok, it's revealed to Marvel audiences that Thor and Loki actually have a sister - Hella, the Goddess of Death - who was banished by Odin to the depths of hell long before the princes were born and has been living there until this film.
If you look closely at Hella's first scene in the film, it's easy to tell that her dark hair and gothic makeup actually mirror's Loki's evil looks in the first Thor movie. When she suddenly demands her brothers to kneel before her, it's a direct reflection of Loki demanding humans to kneel before him in Avengers 1. The internet spared no time in translating Loki's facial reaction into a hysterical inner thought process.
4 The joke of Loki's many deaths
Tumblr media
Loki fakes his death in the first Thor film by letting go of his father's hand at the edge of a destroyed Bifrost bridge, committing what appears to be a suicide. Thor screams for his brother in agony, but we soon learn at the movie's end credit that's he's somehow just teleported himself to Earth and is after the Tesseract - which we know now is the story of Avengers 1.
RELATED: Loki Disney Plus: 5 MCU Characters We Want To See Return (And 5 We Don't)
Loki then stages his death multiple times after that and becomes an easy target for memes. For someone who cries wolf so much, it's hard for fans to believe when he's actually gone forever.
3 Are you busy on Friday?
Tumblr media
Twitter is a great place to find memes because it's an online platform where spontaneous thoughts are put out into the universe with the opportunity to go viral. Their latest sensation? "Are you busy on Friday?" "That entirely depends on the rest of the information you're about to give me."
It's a funny way of exposing someone's passive way of answering yes or no to a question that should be simple, but we all know - the details of what's actually happening on "Friday" have a huge impact to someone's answer. When you mix it together with Loki's sarcastic smile, it brings the funny to a whole new level.
2 What Loki really meant
Tumblr media
One thing that remains so interesting about Loki (and Thor) as princes and Asgardian royalty is the language that they use. Alongside people like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, their way of speaking sounds almost Shakespearean (as Tony himself jokes in Avengers calling Thor "Shakespeare in the park,"). Fans love pointing out that even if he's playing the villain or the trickster, Loki is polite, concise, and clear with his language.
The internet translating his royal speech into basic text message language gives Loki even more of a hilarious persona.
1 He used Tumblr
Tumblr media
With most of the thanks probably given to actor Tom Hiddleston and his talent at acting and giving Loki the personality he has on-screen, it's no question that he's become a fan favorite - especially among the fangirls.
This meme pokes fun at the blogging site Tumblr, which is a famous platform that mostly young teenage girls use to share images, artwork, stories, and posts. As the frontman of a large female teen fanbase, it's true to his character that he'd be the kind of "celebrity" to relish in his newfound fame.
