Shi Qingxuan's actor looks so happy and sweet in their costume for the live-action! 🥺 It's going to be fun seeing them blood-splattered, screaming, and asking to die after their brother's head gets ripped off in front of them.

Why do healing wounds itch?? What's the point of that??? To slow down the healing process via fingernail?

Daniel is riddled with burst blood vessels from sonomancy gone wrong. If not from the great exertion it takes to perform some feats (the capillaries in his sclerae are usually first to go from too much strain, which also results in all manner of nosebleeds and migraines), then from his own sound attacks backfiring and coming back to bite him in the ass.
His neck in particular is a pale red mess from one deafening yell he choked on as a young teenager, looking like permanent faint blush until one leans in close enough to notice the blood spots. There's a collapsed vein on his right hand - so visibly spiderwebbed that you can trace it to its source in detail. Most notable, a finely flowered capillary rose on his left temple, edges catching on his brow and eyelid.
He finds them awfully pretty in concept, even if they do count as imperfections and occasionally attract concerned attention. But just like the nosebleeds, they're easily explained away with 'weak blood vessels'.

I'm so cynical about that two-headed calf.
it's 2 weeks old and still can't stand. yesterday's update was "here is a video of her holding her head up", with a claim that it is growing in strength - but in the video, it very much looks like the heads are being propped up by a bag of woodchips.
calves should be standing within 2 hours of birth. by the third day, they should be mobile enough that they're hard to catch. by adulthood, they weigh over a thousand pounds.
there's also a religious angle to this. many of the farm's posts have been intensely christian, the farm has described the calf as 'a miracle from God', and nearly all the comments are people offering prayers. meaning.....they might not be making the most objective decisions regarding this animal's welfare.
I'm in a livestock Facebook group and two-headed calves aren't as rare as you'd think. mostly, they're born dead, or die shortly after birth. this isn't a deformity that is compatible with life, and I just can't see any outcome where this calf starts thriving.

Reminder from someone with actual literal brain damage from a brain injury to stop fucking using "brain damage" and "brain injuries" as a means of describing someone whose opinions you don't like or deem as stupid.
It's ableist and offensive as fuck, and for some reason a lot of leftist people think it's okay to use. I've seen posts replying to right wing racists calling them "brain damaged if you believe this" and "do you have a brain injury? do you not understand X?". Just now I saw a beautiful post about fat people throughout history that was absolutely ruined by opening with "How do we break it to boomers with actual brain damage and nostalgic brainrot..." before continuing to say that fat people existed throughout history.
Brain damage does not make you racist. A brain injury doesn't make you stupid, or fatphobic, or unaware of history and politics. Stop fucking using my disability as a catch all to describe people you think are shitty. Y'all use it like it's a replacement for how people used to use the R-slur, which shows you learned absolutely nothing about why the R-slur was wrong to use and decided to throw in other disabilities instead. Fuck off and stop doing it.
(And don't do it with other disabilities either, because I know y'all do.)
I know a lot of people with brain injuries. They're smart, and funny, and compassionate. They learn about the world and care about social issues and wish they could go to protests if their disability won't allow them to. Are there right wing people with brain injuries? Sure, absolutely. But they are not right wing because they have a brain injury, and using any disability as an insult is still fucking ableist.
Tldr - stop using brain damage and brain injury as an insult. It's ableist and incredibly offensive.
Love, your local brain injured/brain damaged pal

If you've seen trivia posts going around, may have seen ones about the baculum, a bone in the penis whose purpose is to help support erections which is present in most placental mammals, including non-human apes, but which is conspicuously absent in humans.
Those posts typically don't go into why this is the case, which is fair enough, since the question is far from settled. However, there are a lot of hypotheses about it, and some of them are pretty fucking wild.
I think my personal favourite is the recently proposed idea that, since soft tissue injuries tend to heal more rapidly and completely than broken bones, a flexible and resilient boneless penis constitutes a reproductive advantage in situations where genital trauma is common, possibly as a result of the development of upright posture rendering the penis more prone to blunt encounters.
Like, imagine humanity's proto-hominid ancestors going "actually, bipedalism is great" and promptly getting whacked in the ding so much that it exerted evolutionary pressure on the morphology of the penis.

CW: consensual hard vore (injury + cannibalism), M/E-rated text
--
Hualian hard vore, but soft… Xie Lian makes Hua Cheng promise that his pain receptors are turned down low, then kisses him gently before helping him into the oven. Hua Cheng prays, while he cooks, grateful for the chance to nourish his god.
Xie Lian uses E’ming to cut a portion from Hua Cheng’s thigh, then praises the tenderness and flavor of the meat.
This is all Hua Cheng wants: a way to be undeniably useful to his beloved. He would give everything of himself until he’s gone, if Xie Lian so much as hinted.
But Xie Lian sets his plate down after finishing his portion.
“Heal yourself, San Lang,” he requests. “I want to hold my husband.”
Hua Cheng steps off the tray, back to his original form with a thought.
They don’t let go of each other until the morning.

seeing people my age talk about how scared they are of memory loss, which they only associate with old age, is so surreal to see as a 24 year old who has actively experienced memory loss for a long time now
there are causes for memory loss besides dementia and alzheimer’s, i hope y’all know that. dissociative disorders, trauma, brain injuries, thyroid problems, even just stress and lack of sleep can fuck up your ability to store, process, and access memory. and that’s just a few of the many causes i can think of off the top of my head right now.
please stop treating disabled people like some scary “other” that you might become only in the distant, decades-away future. we are your age, too. you may become one of us sooner than you know. stop acting like memory loss marks the end of a life, when so many of us have so much living left to do!

@vihilum , ❛ did you hurt yourself? ❜ for nancy wheeler.
he almost feels affront at the question on automatic. had she asked it first he'd have no qualms, but as it stands she's sixth and everyone previous has set an awful, unfair precedent so far. journalists sure are one goddamn rotten lot... yet her voice is kind and searching, and he holds no grudges against friends so all she gets is a horribly tired smile. she just wants to know, no holds barred, as she always does.
and while the answer would be 'not quite', he can't articulate as much with a tube stuck through his neck, so he just shakes his head. gingerly; mindful of all the cables criss-crossed around his hospital bed. the expectation that she'd believe him is frail; he wouldn't blame her if she didn't.
he looks mostly unharmed on the outside, after all. no signs of foul play. his cheekbone stings from an unfortunate meeting with hard concrete but he knows there's no bruise. there never is. it's always made lying that much easier for patricia when there's no proof of the contrary, and he's in no mood to try and convince anyone otherwise. the hawkins' post has swung round already, looking for a very clear-cut headline. 'teenager tears his own throat open, more on page 3'.
he gives her a surreptitious glance - room empty, habit unshakeable - and reaches out one unsteady hand to her bag. a small gesture makes the intent clear - pen and paper.
