She’d watched from the moment he’d picked one up. The curse didn’t bother her — there’s far worse things out there than the weight of a silly, habitual word like that — and found herself vaguely amused he’d made it as far as he had.
Not that she was eager to find another and beat that record.
“Don’t put too much thought into it.”
She picked up another rock.
Unlike the last, she didn’t take her time fishing this one. The smooth surface was perfect as was its shape, but she didn’t want to throw it. Instead, she stood back to her full height and let the rock flip between her fingers.
“It’ll be more of a pain.”
She tossed it over to him.
“Have any food at your place?”
It hit him squarely in the chest with a solid thdd. And then a second or so later, it joined the rest of the pebbles on the rocky riverbed.
Tsukumo took a moment to catch his breath, and once he’d sufficiently recovered, he was already on the move back to his relatives’ restaurant. He’d intruded upon their peaceful family life some four months ago, and they’d never stopped being as warm and welcoming as they had been when he first arrived.
Sometimes, he felt like he didn’t deserve that sort of kindness. He knew he wouldn’t have put up being nice four months into the game.
He shrugged again as he trudged past the long grass towards the stairs that led up to where the main road to town was.
“What do you mean do we have food,” snorted Tsukumo, “It’s a restaurant. We can’t run out of food.”
And then he stopped, glanced over his shoulder at her, and smirked, “But ... we might be out of your favourite chanpon. Who knows.”
a fool’s treasure hunt.

The smile she wears is enough to show exactly what she’s thinking. While she won’t say he always makes the ‘worst possible decisions,’ she can’t help agreeing that good amount of them can be. That, along with the end of his words, draws out a small giggle from her, covered by a small hand.
“Maybe so,” she says in turn.
The light, half hug doesn’t surprise her and she leans into him in return. It was comfortable — warm. She doesn’t mind the display of affection underneath this terribly romantic, moonlit night.
“You can’t hide from me.” She looks up at him then. “I’ll always find you.”
“Spoken like a true horror movie buff,” Cal noted in a deadpan, and pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. “You’ll never rest until you find me and drag me down to hell with you where we can suffer together, evermore...”
And then Cal snorted. There was something in the ridiculously bright moonlight and in the way the breeze carried her hair just so that it framed her face like a CG moment in a visual novel.
“No, I wouldn’t want you to suffer with me,” he laughed, “You don’t deserve to. What would Green say?”

a fool’s treasure hunt.
She doesn’t answer him right away, taking her time to find the right shaped rock at the river’s edge. Knees bent, she crouched low to the ground, pecking at the rocks. Their shapes weren’t fitting — they weren’t round enough, flat enough — the bumpy texture brushed against her finger tips terribly.
“No, not really,” she says eventually, off-handedly.
The rock hunting isn’t interrupted in the least by the answer, almost as though she were only half listening to him. (She isn’t though; she’s paying him far more attention than she should and missed the perfect rock at least twice now.) Then again, she’s not one to sit still for long about things like this.
Her determination does grow, and she finds just the right rock to skip. It earns a smile as it rolls in the palm of her hand, flipping between the space of her fingers.
The rock stops at the crook between her thumb and her index finger, and she eases it in to place, reading herself.
“If I did, I probably wouldn’t hang out with you.”
The rock flies out of her hand, skipping against the water’s surface.
Once, twice, three times.
And then it sinks.
“What brought this up anyways?”
He wasn’t even gunna lie, like, who on earth would want anything to do with a punk like him? Especially not one who left the city to start a new life in a small town just because he’d promised his mother he’d stay out of trouble. Surely they’d heard, even in a town this far out. Gossip was far worse when everyone knew everyone and their dog.
Tsukumo shrugged. He figured she was only hanging out with him at first because he was the new kid, and it was her job as class rep. Later on, he didn’t know why exactly. Maybe it was out of sheer habit.
He picked up a rock at random -- didn’t bother cherry-picking like Haru did -- and gave it his best shot.
Three-and-a-half skips, and then the pebble sank to the depths of the river.
“Damn.” It slipped out in an exhale. That was habit.

She glances to her side: left first, then right. It’s almost as though she’s weight in her options. Eventually, she nods.
“Then I will.”
Clambering up there would be a task for anyone at this time, but she manages. It takes a pokemon, her ivysaur, wrapping their vines around her waist, lifting her onto the roof next to him. Her steps are unsteady at first, but she learns quickly enough. It’s something she’s always been good at, and she makes her way to his side.
“The view up here isn’t terrible.”
Trust Daisy to figure something out in a couple of minutes. Cal pushed aside an empty can of something, and scooted over to make room for her shortly after she made her landing.
“Don’t you dare think I always make the worst possible decisions,” said Cal in a bout of self-depreciation, “I still have, maybe, half an eye for art. It’s not 20/20, though. I wear glasses and all, eh?”
He would have offered her something to drink, but all that was left was the lonely can of oran chu-hi he’d downed some time before Daisy found him. Instead, he settled for wrapping an arm around her and giving her a gentle one-armed hug.
"... Guess you found me,” he mumbled.

Tucking her arms beneath the sleeves of the loose cardigan she’d tossed over her shoulders, she keeps her eyes on him, waiting. She’s determined not to leave until he’s down there beside her, because she knows he’ll stay up there all night if he could.
“Then, I’ll stay here until you do.”
It’s cold, but she doesn’t mind it as much as she might appear. Aside from the occasional light breeze kicking up between them, it’s a comfortable enough.
Cal replaced his glasses, and peered down the edge of the roof to where she was standing. Her cardigan fluttered gently in the night breeze, pinned down by her crossed arms: Daisy meant every word she said. That was Daisy at her finest; she was firm and unwavering when it came to marshalling him in and out of his room.
It usually involved threats that didn’t seem like threats at all. They sounded like what a child would say in an attempt to intimidate his parent, like for example, ‘I’m going to eat all the marshmallows out of the cereal box!’ Except Daisy wasn’t quite a kindergartener, and standing down there all night was something she was quite capable of.
Cal chuckled as he extended an invitation to her: “Then come on up. Your neck would hurt from all the craning just to keep an eye on me.”

blog is on semi-hiatus until further notice.
tl;dr: there was an explosion at my workplace building. no one was injured, but life (and work) goes on. we’re trying to sort it out.
on a brighter note: the good news is that my data plan is now unlimited for mobile. the bad news is that there is no allocation for tethering, so there is effectively no way i am gunna be able to post from a pc.
until next time……

Examine pokemon world tournament @ gold
examine! rpg descriptions | always accepting!
you stumble across a flyer in the break room of the POKÉATHLON DOME.
it is on the coffee table, in a neat stack.
what will GOLD do?
TAKE
PACK
RUN
you take one of the flyers and take a glance through it. it is very vividly coloured, with illustrations of various PKMN on its front. the back page has more information about the tournament, such as the location, battle styles, and notable participants. you recognise a few of them.
it goes without saying that you know who all the JOHTO invitees are. one of the KANTO invitees catches your eye: JANINE. she is the daughter of KOGA, whom you fought at the INDIGO PLATEAU.
you don’t know who the rest of them are, except for LANCE…
maybe you could catch some of the matches on TV to learn more about the others. some of the matches are going to be shown on live TV, after all.
one of the matches seems to be the focus of the tournament, complete with a lead-up segment prior to its broadcast.
what will GOLD do?

“Yes, it is.”
A sunny smile blossomed relieved that the girl had not been too bad at him for accidentally taking her order. The barrista had stated that the drink belonged to him but, understood the stress which came with the trouble resulting in mixed-up orders.
“Ahh, you think so? It’s one of my favorites.” He admitted, grinning. “I love bitter stuff. And it’s just the right amount for the morning.”
Tumblr media
It fit a proper man like him, didn’t it? Bitter coffee in the morning for a jolt of caffeine to awaken the dull senses of an adult -- good choice!
“Mister, can I try some?” Pearl asked, unable to stop herself from staring at his drink.
She had a feeling she wouldn’t like it much, but her mama always stopped her from having coffee, Jun wasn’t the best coffee boy, and Lucas ... Lucas would just tell her to get tea.
“Please? You can try mine later in return!”

三 for Cal (or whoever you feel up to doing)
3 facts: muse vs mun
Tumblr media
cal and i both look pretty similar! it’s the combination of dark hair, glasses, and slightly slouched posture i suppose… oh, and the days where the mere idea of doing stuff is so tiring we end up staying in our rooms until it’s dinnertime.
we both have a habit of showering before heading out, be it to work or to meet someone!
a sore lack of ambition: that’s both of us, that one kid that adults say will have a good future bc of so-and-so reason but then ends up doing nothing of note…
Tumblr media
cal has messy, near-unmanageable hair. on the other hand, i’ve got hair that’s super easy to care for. now, if only i’ll actually get haircuts before it grows too long…
cal wears contact lenses when he’s working at the trainer house. on the other hand, i avoid them as my eyes tend to dry out very fast. they’ll start itching in about two hours, idk how people can have them in for eight, maybe even 12 hours. but yeah, cal falls into the latter category.
cal doesn’t sleep much at night and yet doesn’t need much sleep to function well. maybe it’s insomnia, maybe it’s just him naturally being a bit more of a nocturnal person. then you have this lion, who pretty much starts feeling sleepy at 9:30pm.

“... oh, it wasn’t a problem at all. I’m glad the specimens are all in top condition. Your research should move along fine now -- if you need more gogoat, I’ll have my contact capture more as needed.”
Tumblr media
“Nah, it wasn’t difficult at all to communicate. Gestures worked just fine. I think we got along without much issue... Oh. Yeah, the food was a bit different, but once we found something that wasn’t too touristy or too exclusively Kalosian, it all worked out. Surprisingly, he was a decent tour guide, too.”
Tumblr media
“... And I’ll have to respectfully decline. We might be co-workers, and even though you’re a senior staff -- you should have your own contacts in various regions. It’s true that I wouldn’t have located him without Devon resources, but you know: Borrowing someone else’s knife to murder someone doesn’t mean that the knife’s owner is the murderer.”

Just food and drink? Steven somehow didn’t truly believe that, watching the trainer with an arched brow. Many trainers would rush each other over and grind them into the ground in order to participate in an open association like this one. Why waste it on those kind of essentials?
“No other purpose than attending for the food and drink? Interesting. I take it that you’re the kind that trains alone then with your pokemon then? Honestly, there could be something here that you might think you need, but aren’t sure of just yet.” Experience. Challenges. Items. There was always a hidden desire for at least one of those.
At once the image of Red training alone at Mt Silver flashed through her mind. A thin body, a worn-out cap and a tired gaze...
No, never!! Lea F. Wolfesbane would never allow herself to fall to such depths of living. What sort of life was that even?!
Leaf hummed. “Trains alone... Nah, that’s not my style. Anyway! I need more of this drink.”
She grabbed another glass off a tray and set down her emptied one.
“You can’t buy these outside without paying a pretty sum. And wow, these canapés! They’re really good,” Leaf munched away, while still keeping her gaze on Steven.
“I don’t know why you keep thinking that everyone has got an ulterior motive - maybe it’s got something to do with your experiences, I won’t know - but me? I’m simple! Food,” she said, popping another tuna canapé into her mouth before raising her glass, “and drink.”
Leaf grinned.

: [ 🐟 ] : – M had his own gyarados out with him when he was coming to visit the Lake of Rage. A place where he didn’t visit often due to well…the amount of gyarados there - however there were times when he felt the calling of the beasts. So here he was, surprised to see a red gyarados so close to the shore…and a friendly one at that.                 It really didn’t take long for M’s own gyarados to warm up to the red one…and for M to hear a voice.
“Uh…I’m M?..I-uh…What is a kid like you doing out here?                                   This isn’t the safest lake in Johto, ya know.”
Tumblr media
Eh? What did that person - M? - mean, it wasn’t safe? Gold was pretty sure he’d taken care of the gyarados problem in the lake some years ago.
He glanced at the lake, and saw another gyarados by his red one. That was just one gyarados. It was safe, and it wasn’t a problem. Most likely. After all, the other gyarados and his seemed to be getting along well enough.
“M? Like the alphabet?” Gold mumbled, digesting the monosyllabic name as he stepped closer to the lakeside.
“... ne’er mind... I’m just here a’feed my gyarados then I’ll be off, don’t mean to overstep any boundaries or ... ya know, do stuff like ... trespassing.”
He set the sack down on the ground, and pulled out a goldeen by its tail. With surprising strength for his stature, Gold tossed it into the air, towards his gyarados.
It shot out of the water in a flash of shimmering red, before catching its meal with a powerful snap of its jaws.

The intense pressure was enough to nearly plunge the sword into her chest, but her pain was minimal in comparison to the casualties they would gain this day. Back up would come much later and in a way that wouldn’t benefit any of them still standing on this land. Friend and foe alike, she knew when they were cast aside for the greater good of their land.
Why else would she keep her stance here and now?
Knees on the ground as she was, the pressure placed upon her was more than aggravating, and she reached to grasp the blade of the sword on her own — not to yank the irritating thing out, but to keep it there, almost as though she were eager to taste its bite.
Tumblr media
“Mercy?”
Her moist cough was to be expected, further staining the ground with another’s bitter blood.
“If you were interested in mercy, you would have sent them home instead of this,” she laughed, harsh and short. His lecture on her troops was wasted. Their morale had already failed from the moment his forces revived like the ghouls, but there was no home to turn back to if they failed. “Kill them if you wish — we wouldn’t expect any less from your kind.”
Dark clouds hung overhead, earning a small but smug look from the commander.
He moved his foot away as if knowing she would spit blood at him.
“Then you will take responsibility for your words,” he said, raising his right hand and drawing a circle in the air.
The kirlia leapt backwards, before thrusting their arms before them. A small wall of pink gradually grew into a force field that enveloped the enemy troops -- in a snap, the walls folded in upon the men fighting amongst themselves.
Crushed into a pool of blood and bones, they were no more.
His men remained unharmed.
Above them, the sky grew impatient. Thunder rumbled like hungry wolves in the distant upwards. He sighed, as if an epiphany had suddenly struck him.
“Your doing, Commander? This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this,” said Ten, tugging the blade out of her chest and her defiant grasp. He released the blade from his grasp; it shook itself to rid its torso of its blood before rejoining its pair. “Feels like it was summer the last time. A town by the sea.”
He paused.

“good for pokéathlons? or just average? too young to know! we’ll toss ‘em onto the tracks later.”
the day-care man was at it again. he stood outside the day-care in goldenrod, and beckoned to gold when he passed the building by.
“not an egg this time, young man. it’s a pkmn. someone left this ponyta behind here, and hasn’t been back since. please take care of it for us.”
gold nodded his agreement.
“no problem. if the owner comes back, let me know over at the battle frontier! pokéathlon is off-season due to the cold.”
he took the ponyta by its reins and led it out of the day-care centre.
Tumblr media
GOLD received a PONYTA?.
that was two days ago.
number the ponyta (alas, pkmn with a different OT couldn’t be renamed) was like any other ponyta. it was active. it did its best impression of a harrumph as gold did his stretches and warm-up exercises. it headbutted gold when he pulled out berries.
it was disgustingly adorable.
however … …!
the sheer amount of work he had to do for one ponyta made gold cry a little on the inside. for hygiene’s sake, gold had to do what every responsible trainer did: pick up after his pkmn.
it made gold come to a decision: no national park for number. not until gold figured out how to potty train it. (was that even possible? …)

hikaup:
Tumblr media
The next text from Hikari didn’t come for over another hour. Somewhere along the road, she’d turned right, taken a left, done a 180, tried going south ( There was no south, only southeast ) and wound up… in a very, very narrow, dark alleyway. Considering her profession in the context of the narrowness and darkness of this passageway, it shouldn’t have been anything she was unaccustomed to, but—still, there was something about being alone in a large city where you didn’t speak the language and only knew one person ( and couldn’t find him ).
[ msg to Yuu, 20:21: NEW STICKER! NEW STICKER! ]
Tumblr media
[ msg to Yuu, 20:22: lol uh… this is bad. I’m in some dark ass alley ]                 [ msg to Yuu, 20:24: last marked place I saw was? Vert plaza?? ]                 [ msg to Yuu, 20:25: NEW STICKER! ]
Tumblr media
         — She looked up from her phone for a moment,  noting the narrow alleyway appeared to open up to a large boulevard ahead. Putting a bit of a hustle in her step, the young woman rushed ahead to find— Hibernal ?
[ msg to Yuu, 20:28: Hibernal avenue. Hibernal!!! That’s not Autumnal but ]           [ msg to Yuu: 20:29: okay seriously can u come get me I’m just gonna get lost again ]
Tumblr media
He was, at this point, holding an empty cup of juice and still idly waiting for Hikari to show up. Another hour, and he figured he would have to buy a second cup out of courtesy and not thirst. He toyed with the Match Call on his pokénav, bringing up Hikari’s profile that had a number and description but no face to it.
Perhaps this time it would remain empty for a while longer.
The device remained silent even as its display showed 2000hrs. It was strangely calming. Hikari was trying, right? She wasn’t actually fuming somewhere, right?
It buzzed to life some time later, but it was a pair of stickers and nothing else. Yuuki found himself waiting for a while longer...
[txt 2029hrs]        wait do you see a really fancy restaurant?      le wow [txt 2030hrs]       can you      sit on a bench somewhere
Maybe that wouldn’t be helpful enough. Yuuki rose from his seat, waved goodbye to the shop staff, and headed out towards Hibernal Avenue.
Tumblr media
“Hibernal...” he muttered to himself, staring at the streetlight-lit path that stretched far until it led to the tower in the centre of Lumiose. That wasn’t the path he was looking for, however.
As if reciting from a book, under his breath Yuuki said, “Rouge Plaza,” and rounded the corner to head to the plaza and beyond it.
[txt 2032hrs]      hika [txt 2033hrs]      hika      send location? omw
