I find it helps more to know that “müssen” is “must” or “have to” and “brauchen” is “to need”.
You never say “I must” or “I have to” without a verb after in English, either. I must eat, you must go, I have to do my homework, etc. But we do say “I need” without a verb - I need water, I need you, I need food.
I guess there’s some grey area here, as in English we might say we “need to” do something. But “need to” is back to being like “have to”, “must” etc.
Also you do get one instance of müssen without a verb, only in one situation: “Ich muss mal!” - I need to pee!
grammatical german questions?? well is it a rule to use 'müssen' with verbs and 'brauchen' with nouns? or are there exceptions
You can ask those too!
So müssen is a modal verb, and those 9/10 are paired with an infinitive (Ich muss gehen, ich muss arbeiten, etc. but you can also say ich kann Deutsch for example, and no infinitive is necessary). With müssen, you always use it for verbs though. And then you’re correct that brauchen is always used with nouns (Ich brauche Milch, mehr Zeit, usw.). I’ve never heard them used any other way, so I think if there are any exceptions, they are probably few and far between :)
I hope that helps!! :)

I’m adding a new blog
Specifically for photos.
I’ve tried 500px, I’m not sure I’m going to get along with it - it’s nice to get lots of likes for your photos, but the nicest feature is the portfolio, and that requires quite a lot of money to keep after the trial period.
Flickr was where I normally kept my photos, but I’m no longer so keen on that either, I want to design (or at least tweak) my own layouts. So here I am, setting up another tumblr blog as my portfolio :)
I’ll eventually make photos.sarawallen.com point to it, but for now you’ll see old and new photos of mine trickle onto sarajphotos.tumblr.com
Thanks!

Tunisian (or Afghan) crochet, merino wool, blanket scarf.
Awesome project. Only took 3 weeks, I took it on a work trip to the US so I could work on it during the long haul flight - that was such a good idea!
I love this style and I LOVE my blanket scarf.

Pretty pastel baby blanket of granny squares with scalloped edging.
This was more frustrating than it should have been! I got a little bit of closure when finishing each square, but then also the angst of picking the colours so that they continued to look randomly... even. Evenly random.

Me me me there’s nothing really right now but I have been on such a crochet frenzy lately that I’m about to post several big crochet photo-posts :D
update!
I haven’t been on here for ages, but I definitely hadn’t lost my interests for wooly matters. I just have been neglecting my tumblr. I will update it soon ..
My feed is also a mess because of that and I would love to find some more knitting/crocheting/fibre blogs to follow.
So if you have a a blog that has any yarn/knitting/crochet related content, please like this post or reblog this post so I can check it out :) !

Altonale swingt! 13th July 2016
So my set was cut a little short by noise complaints (booo!), meaning I only got to play until 22:30 instead of getting to play out ‘til midnight after the band’s second set.
Either way, I still very much enjoyed playing! My set(s), all at a middling tempo to complement Les Benoîts’ music:
Jimmie Lunceford - For Dancers Only Jesse Selengut - [Live at Boston Swing Central #03] Buckin' the Dice Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra - C Jam Blues Count Basie - [Chairman of the Board #01] Blues in Hoss' Flat Benny Goodman - Blue Lou Duke Ellington - [I Never Felt This Way Before #15] Ko-Ko Roy Milton - Short, Sweet and Snappy Count Basie and His Orchestra - Corner Pocket June Christy - Whatcha Know Joe Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra - Opus One Artie Shaw - Just Kiddin’ Around Glenn Miller - A String of Pearls
--oOo--  Les Benoîts band set 1, followed by lovely dance routine by the Trundling Bumble Bees (Hamburg’s finest charleston troupe!)  --oOo--
Gordon Webster - [Live in Philadelphia #12] Sister Kate Benny Goodman w/ Peggy Lee - On The Sunny Side Of Street Louis Prima - [Capitol Collectors Series #01] Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody Paula Watson - I Want A Short, Squat, Big Fat Papa Four Clefs - I Like Pie, I Like Cake The Palmetto Bug Stompers - [Live @ D.B.A. #09] Lil Brown Jug
...and from here the band played a fantastic acoustic set in front of the stage for almost another 45 mins! This kept both those complaining about the amplified noise and the dancers very happy :) THANK YOU!
