The guy on tiktok who posts videos of himself acting out deeply emotional and riveting action scenes that give him motivation to start running is the only one who gets it and can save us. ‘The Grind’ is dead long live ‘The Whimsy’
Here’s one of my favs for reference:
[ID: a tiktok video of a man in a gym on a treadmill. There is text reading: ‘Reading the note my brother left me revealing he was the villain all along, so I chased his train as he fled town for 5.2 miles.’ The man then acts out this scene on the treadmill by reading a note, shaking his head, then beginning to run, calling out to his brother with increasing desperation as he picks up speed. There is an emotional, cinematic score. /end ID]
Somewhere out there on a planet very far away is a civilization that has included our sun in a beloved constellation of some animal we couldn't dream up if we tried
I love when fiction makes the audience feel guilty about their role as the audience. When something fucked up is treated as a joke but later it's recognised how fucked up it was and the audience feels guilty for finding it funny. When a character breaks the fourth wall to plead for help, and you can't do anything so you just watch. And you know that the characters pain isn't real, but they're begging for help and you're not helping because their suffering is entertainment for you
i always give a lazy two finger salute when cars stop for me at a crosswalk and it's devolved so much that at this point I feel like an icon of jesus whenever I cross the street
