There is something extremely disgusting, the disregard of female pain. Young female pain especially.

A woman my mother is friends with has been telling us about her four daughters. How she wanted a boy after the first two girls, instead giving birth to a pair of twin girls. How she hated them for not being male. How she disregarded them for the first years of their lives, as a revenge for the fact that she "couldn't get a boy to dote on". How she raised them "military style". How she calls out to them "twins" instead of using their names. How they grew up obviously scared of her, or at the very least scared of disappointing her.

And the women around her praising her, saying "God gave you these girls to stand by your side, to help you out" and "now they love you and you get to love them back, even after those years you spent pushing them away". Her other daughters were "treated too well" clearly, being loved in an obvious and healthy way "damaged them", they "are not useful in the house".

And I cannot go on. I tuned them out. These are 40-50 year old women, talking about girls as if we are cattle, as if we're work animals, as if you can abuse us and we'll be better raised that way, know our place better.

Not once was a man mentioned, let alone a male child. The housework is to be delegated to the female children. The male children are desired, not for their work potential, but because "they are easier, more pleasant to raise".

Adult women, mothers, pass their internalised misogyny, their self hatred and generational trauma to their daughters. They hate their female children the same way they hate themselves: the way society taught them too.

This is why we need to stand together, the women who see their own oppression, and break this cycle. Even if the world isn't fixed yet, please, if you're not a child yourself, be kind to female children. Be kind to girls. Educate girls. You know how painful girlhood is.

I'm barely an adult myself, but I know I want to fight for a world in which girls don't grow up too soon, too painfully, too weighted by responsibility, too alone and scared and frustrated before they can even begin to grasp why. I want to fight for a world where girls are free to be children, where they get to grow up into healthy, happy young women.

Anyway, these brainwashed, lip filler-having, Botox-at-22, pornsick, “bimbo,” misogynistic gen z girls need to develop some feminist consciousness pretty fucking quick, cause I’m not being taken down with them just because they grew up taking for granted the things that past generations of women fought for and feel the need now to rebel against them.
