i definitely agree that i am sad to not see the exact depiction of the spell that was provided in the manga, i 1000000% agree that the way marcille soaks her own hair in blood is the most metaphorical physical story telling and i do not at all fault being frustrated with the lack of these specific shots, scenes and, moments
with that said here is my argument for the anime;
what we lack in panelling (that conveys a different moment of rest between panels depending on who is reading it) i think the anime does a cool job of conveying *urgency* in how fast they try to scramble together to make this work to finding falin's bones to marcille not hesitating to do her spell-
but on the other hand i do think (while not nearly as poingant as the manga, i do want to argue the anime makes /at least/ and effort to convey magic thru hair)
esp since marcille's resurrection scene is bookended with this really beautiful (and incredibly challenging to animate) moment of her hair billowing as she casts falin's resurrection spell
to reiterate; during the bone sorting scene/finalizing the ritual, marcille's shots have *her hair* as the center point of all the shots of her talking
afterwards; she commences the spell and while they cut between her hair up in braids and down completely straight (the moment in the manga that is missing) they spend the majority of the spell casting itself, dedicated to complicated animation on her *HAIR FLOWING* as if it is *channeling her magic*!!! and with the red tint starting at the root? as if she is also soaked in blood
it is the MOST animated part of these scenes- her hair takes complete center stage in these moments and then
marcille colappses into a shot where *ONLY HER HAIR* is animated as it falls to rest next to her
while i understand the frustration of not getting *THE SHOT* from dungeon meshi- i think we need to applaud the animators for what they decided to do and how they animated this show
never forgive trigger for what they cut
