Thanksgiving is the most important #tbt of all: Male Chef Thanksgiving from 2013.
****In honor of our feast being 3 years old- you can find the recipe below:
Original Male Chef Blue Turkey™
from the kitchen of Male Chef
copyright 2013 by the Male chef™
Ingerdeints:
- 1 big ole turkey (16-22 pounds)
- 1 gallon Blue flavored Powerade® Sports drink (6 bottles)
- ½ cup oil (cooking, not motor haha)
- ½ cup salt
- just a pinch of pepper :-)
- just a shot glass full of blue food coloring to make
it just a little more blue if you want
-1 lemon for decoration
1. Rub salt all over your bird’s skin. keep uncovered in fridge for 1 - 12 hours (or overnight if you can and you want to wake up and finish it tomorrow in the morning)
2. Preheat oven to 425°
(do not leave it on overnight if you are going to wake up and finish it tomorrow in the morning)
3. blot turkey with unused toilet paper, wipe off as much moisture as you can so it isn’t so sticky anymore
4. in a saucepan on the stove, heat oil slowly, adding 1 drop of blue food coloring at a time and mix it really hard until the oil and the coloring are as mixed as possible and it reaches a dark, deep blue color (about 10-15 drops of food coloring). Let it cool down
5. with a clean paintbrush, paint oil mixture onto that bird. do not be shy get it very covered
6. Put an extra five (5) drops of blue coloring in the Powerade® Sports drink, shake it up, and pour contents into roasting pan.
7. Place into oven. Baste with coloring mixture every 30 minutes until bird is cooked (leg meat reaches 165 degrees°).
when it is cooked, the bird’s meat will be blue but the bones will probably not be blue.
9. cut up a lemon and put it around the turkey for a decoration
