nobody on this site is ever ever EVER going to top running a blog dedicated entirely to posting cute pics of sweet old dogs in a shelter for a year and gradually becoming one of the most recognized blogs on the website, then without warning dropping “i just want to get dicked down again =/” with 0 explanation and abandoning the blog. not deleting it, not explaining anything, just leaving the whole thing as a monument. fucking flawless posting. literally the best of all time.
Throwback to the time where I tried to filter “***” to “ass” to annoy a specific member of our forum but since * is a variable operator I just filtered every single word on the forum to “ass” and all posts became immediately unreadable
People with chronic illnesses, or people recovering from illness or accidents often have outrageous medical bills that they have to pay off. When medical debt is recorded on credit reports it makes it harder to borrow money, buy a home, get a car, etc. All these make it harder to work, live, and pay off the medical debt.
If this doesn't effect you, congrats, but it is an incredibly important thing for a lot of people.
me, an aged monarch lounging on my fur-strewn throne, gesturing for my servant to bring me my monacle: Bring them here! Bring them here, I say. Let me look at them.
guards: *drag the unwitting blog before me*
me, peering intently at the new blog and poking them with my scepter: Is this a real person? Hmm? What have you to say for yourself? What are your fandoms? Your interests? Speak up, these old ears aren’t what they used to be.
guards, tentatively: they do seem to be a real person, sire. We found them in possession of several memes and a fandom rant.
me, subsiding back into my sumptuous furs and waving them away: most extraordinary. It has been an age since there was a real person, but just as well, the dungeons have been overflowing with those tacky pornbots. This newcomer may remain in my domain. Make them welcome. And fetch me a quill! I feel a ficlet coming on…
I’m a middle-aged white guy with a beard. A fellow middle-aged white guy with a beard, I guess presuming we’re all like him, said an INSANELY racist thing to me, like he expected me to go along with it, on account of being another white guy with a beard.
I looked at him like I didn’t understand what he said, and asked him what he meant. The moment of “oh shit this guy isn’t a racist like I am” that flashed across his eyes was priceless.
He hemmed and hawed about how “you know…” and I said, “I’m sorry. I really don’t get it. Help me out.”
He stuttered and stammered, made a few attempts to talk his way out of the shitty thing he’d said, with the racist accent and everything, and I never let him off the hook. Just maintained that I must be stupid or something, because I didn’t get why it was funny.
It was glorious. Highly recommend using this tactic with all shitty people who say shitty things.
genuinely so fucking tired of people leveraging the "groomer" argument against people who support sex ed because scientific literature over decades shows that comprehensive sex education starting around kindergarten actually prevents children from being sexually abused and groomed because it teaches children the correct words for their body parts and also teaches them concepts of privacy, personal space, bodily autonomy, the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touching, and the fact that sex is something that only adults do. children with this knowledge are not only better equipped to identify abuse and predatory behavior and communicate that its happening to a trusted adult, but also prevent it from happening in the first place by recognizing when something is happening that shouldn't.
sex education does not sexualize children, it prevents children from being sexualized. anyone who is against early foundational sex education and claims they are doing it to protect children is a fucking liar.
