Now to nerd out about this,

figuring out how to create an original design that still felt like it made sense and fit was hard but I had a ton of fun with it! Based on my research (staring at a lot of pictures of as many different Naboo queens as possible, and comparing them to each other) I noticed that Naboo queens wear ornate but very modest clothing, nothing super form fitting with a lot of big sleeves and dark colors so that led me to this dress design.

I also noticed that queens very rarely are without a headdress, and never have their hair down. I wanted her hair to show but also have a headdress for ~accuracy, so I went with this headdress based on/inspired by medieval European headdresses worn by noble women. I loosely based what little of her hair you see on the hairstyle she has at the end of the phantom menace.

Figuring out the color palette for this was a pain, cause most of the outfits are one of three color schemes, silver/gray, red/gold, or black, this was what ended up working out best. I was looking at something today (I think they were pages from dressing a galaxy) and it said that red projected authority, which works perfectly with this outfit.
