To regressors who deal with disordered eating:
I'm sorry you're struggling with this. I'm sorry you have to deal with that awful voice in your head all the time, trying to make you feel bad for just living. I know what it's like and I know how hard it is.
I also know how hard this next part will be to believe, but it's still important that you hear it.
You deserve to eat. You deserve to eat without exercising after. You deserve to eat without depriving yourself later. You deserve to eat without meeting some made-up idea of "making up for it."
You deserve to eat that piece of cake, or that biscuit, or that pasta. You deserve to drink that milkshake. You deserve to enjoy eating and food, even the ones your brain has decided are "too unhealthy" to allow yourself.
You deserve to eat without counting calories or fat or carbs. You deserve to eat, even if you think you ate "too much" yesterday or this morning. You deserve to eat without feeling like you have to make up for it. Fueling your body is never a bad thing.
You deserve to eat, even if no one believes you struggle with food. You deserve to eat, even if you're "overweight." You don't need permission. You don't need to be "sick enough" to justify eating. You don't have to justify feeding yourself.
I love you, and I do hope you've taken care of yourself today. If you haven't, that's all right, too; just try to be kinder to yourself tomorrow. You deserve kindness, especially from you. 💚
