Thanks for the ask. I’ve always wanted to try writing some PrUK. Well...uh...I went a little overboard and did a whole fic so hopefully that’s okay.
Prompt: Exhausted parent kiss
Considering Gilbert had called him over in a panic, begging for his help, Arthur shouldn’t have been surprised at the sight of his boyfriend face down on the floor and the living room torn apart. But he was and he couldn’t keep in an audible gasp.
“Did little Lud really do all this?” he asked, looking around and strawn about blankets, fallen over lamps and broken vases.
“Nein...that was all me...trying to catch him…”
“Where is he?”
“I have no idea. I’ve been chasing him for two...no three hours.”
Arthur gave him a sigh as he began his search for Gilbert’s little brother. He remained quiet, listening for any movement that would signal where Ludwig was. After ten minutes of silence, he opted for calling out to him. “Ludwig? It's Arthur.” He made his way up stairs. “Tell you what? How about we meet in your room and I’ll tell you as many stories as you like. You like my stories right?”
The glorious sound of a child’s feet pitter pattering against the floor came shortly after. Arthur made his way to Ludwig’s door to find the blond-haired boy staring back at him. His eyes were puffy and his cheeks a blotchy red as if he’d been crying. Taking the boy’s hand, Arthur guided him to his bed, tucked him in and began his story.
After three, Gilbert had finally joined them. But by that time Ludwig was fast asleep, holding tightly to Arthur’s hand.
“How the hell did you manage this?” Gilbert whispered, taking a seat next to Arthur.
“Well, I promised him as many stories as he wanted. After the first one I asked him why he didn’t want to go to bed and although he was hesitant to tell me he eventually opened up.”
“What did he say?”
“I think he should tell you that...but I will say this. A child’s imagination is a wild thing.”
Gilbert gave him a nod, turning back towards his little brother, relieved he was finally asleep. Feeling his own exhaustion take over he leaned against Arthur’s shoulder. In turn, the Brit pressed a kiss onto his temple, caressing his hair and cheek.
Pushing himself up so he could face Arthur he hissed, “Commit coward.”
“What-” before Arthur could finish his thought, coarse lips crashed into his, leading him in a slow, gentle kiss. It was lazy, slightly sloppy, but considering what they had just been through it made sense. But he let his thoughts cease as the other’s lips moved against his own making his whole body feel fuzzy.
“Danke…” Gilbert murmured as they pulled away for air, “I just...never realized how hard this would be.”
“You’re welcome. But don’t talk as if you’re taking this on alone. I’ll be here, every step of the way my love.”
A wide, genuine smile spread across Gilbert’s face causing Arthur’s heart to flutter at the sight. Taking hold of his lover’s chin, Arthur pulled him into another kiss.
