florida schools now required to teach preK-12 the "history of communism" (the evils of communism per DeSantis) to teach children to resist "the devil that is communism" (quote from Manny Diaz Jr, florida doe commissioner). apparently to combat "communist indoctrination" (diaz calls this anti-communist traching giving the kids a "foundation" so they wont be "fooled" by higher education. ok so indocrination basically. ok )
desantis also said higher ed is trying to "whitewash" communism (??)

the specific bill text says instruction must include "atrocities committed under guidance of communism" and "comparative discussion of political ideologies" (communism "in conflict with freedom and democracy") and "increasing threat of communism in the united states"
they are also starting "the institute for freedom in the americas" at miami dade college to "preserve the ideals of of a free society and promote democracy in america". (bill specifically states to promote teaching leaders about democracy and promoting it, vague as Fu ck). the college is required to host this with a direct support organization made of people chosen by the fl government. they are also authorized to make new certificate and degree programs related to this institute and the Adam Smith center for economic freedom which it is working with
bill goes into effect in july but curriculum tarts in the 2026-27 school year

I got a laptop with Windows 11 for an IT course so I can get certified, and doing the first time device set-up for it made me want to commit unspeakable violence
Windows 11 should not exist, no one should use it for any reason, it puts ads in the file explorer and has made it so file searches are also web searches and this cannot be turned off except through registry editing. Whoever is responsible for those decisions should be killed, full stop.
Switch to linux, it's free and it's good.

i need all fat people who want top surgery to know you are not too fat for top surgery. a competent surgeon and anesthesiologist team will make things work for you regardless of your size. if one doctor gives you shit about your weight or bmi or outright refuses to operate on you, get a second opinion. go to a second doctor. go to a third doctor. go to a million doctors until you get what you want. the dual combo of fatphobia and transphobia in medicine cannot keep us down. you do not need to be skinny to change your body how you want to change it. you do not need to be skinny for top surgery.
