DANCE MONKEY | Marilyn Monroe • Dancing Tribute [Watch in HD on YouTube]
Edited by me / Music by Tones and I Marilyn Monroe is remembered for many things but rarely as a dancer. This song inspired me to edit something hopefully honouring some of the most iconic scenes of her movies.

Marilyn Monroe and ex-husband Joe DiMaggio relaxing by the beach in Florida, March 1961 :
“I came down here for some rest, some sun and to visit Joe”. "We're friends," said Joe DiMaggio. "We're friends." echoed Marilyn Monroe in her soft sigh. The "friends." who are sharing a beach cabana and have nearby hotel rooms at this Gulf Coast resort, declined to elaborate. It was enough to make DiMaggio temporarily abandon baseball. Until Miss Monroe flew to Florida, DiMaggio had been assisting at the Yankees spring training camp in nearby St. Petersburg.

Marilyn Monroe at Ray Anthony’s Party, 1952
“When we started the picture Niagara, she was wonderful, she worked hard and she knew everything. Then she asked for a weekend to go to New York. Mr Hathaway [the director] said ‘of course, you go’, because she was in love with this baseball player, Joe DiMaggio. Anyway, we came back from Niagara and there was a party we invited her to and she didn’t have any clothes, so Mr Hathaway said ‘you’ll have the red dress and the shoes and everything that you had in Niagara’. She was thrilled and we took her to the party and she was a smash really.” (x)

The famous walk by Monroe’s character, Rose, in a black skirt and red sweater across the cobblestone street, holds the record for the longest walk in cinema history with around 116 feet of film. (x)

Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio’s wedding | January 14th, 1954
While their official honeymoon was in Japan, the couple actually spent two weeks alone in a mountain lodge near Palm Springs, loaned to them by Marilyn’s attorney. They drove there just after the wedding ceremony, only stopping to spend the night at the Clifton Inn motel in Paso Robles.
