If it wasn't certain that Whirl would yell at it more, it would have shaken the coptermech up a bit. Instead, it just clicks in amusement. Specimen relaxes it's grip on him, though it doesn't put him down, to stare at the non-functioning optic of Whirl's.
"I thought it'd be amusing." It rumbles, whirring smugly. After a moment of gloating, though, it slides down into a sitting position, setting Whirl down in front of it. No stumbling around for blind mechs. "You were going to run into something, anyway. Blind mecha should not be attempting to navigate without help."
Ohohoho! Blind mechs are easy prey for hungry sparkeaters! Specimen will only scare Whirl, though, by waiting for him to get closer to where it is loafing on the floor and snagging an arm with it's longer, hand-like mandibles and letting out a terrible HIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
He's screaming, he's screaming now, and claws hitting in every single direction possible.
Whirl really shouldn't have attempted to walk around in his hab to find a cube.

And Specimen is laughing, a terrifying wheezing, clicking and rumbling sound that may haunt the nightmares of many after this. The sparkeater shuffles backwards, giving Whirl room to flail about.
After a minute, it un-loafs in order to stand up to it's full height and pick Whirl up like a misbehaving cat.
"It is only me. Stop screaming."

// I feel like pointing out that Specimen is the only true sparkeater of this blog. Deathrattle looks and sometimes acts like one, but he is not a sparkeater - just highly mutated, feral and cursed with a mutated frame that demands extremely high amounts of energy and fuel in order to prevent self-cannibalism.
Meanwhile, Specimen is a true sparkeater (of unknown making) that is lucid enough to not always be a threat and also lucid enough to confirm that it killed it's entire hive, as it did start life out as a seeker/insecticon hybrid.

Could it get away with snarling at him? It lowers it's helm, mandibles clicking as it stares at him. For an uncomfortably long time. Then, Specimen chuffs, the cables laying on it's back rippling like a horrible bed of death-kelp. One of it's secondary hands - the one missing most of it's fingers - reaches out to poke Smokescreen right in the chest.
"No. I eat mecha - more specifically, the spark itself." It waves the small hand, withdrawing it's limbs back to itself. "But I am not interested in eating you. You are correct; terrible snack. Too scrawny. Would be meager meal. Prefer to use as bait, if at all."

Oh, the prey is not very smart, is he? Inviting the many limbed sparkeater over to play. Here, let it shuffle over and humor the prey for a moment. It's not particularly hungry, anyway, let it just LOOM with all fifty feet of decaying frame, and stare down at him with it's six optics and horrible, terrifying maw of mandibles, teeth and grinders.

Specimen clicks it's mandibles together, pleased in the way the mech shakes. In fear? Shock? It doesn't know, not without using it's olfactory vents and scenting the air, but that's not acceptable in polite society. The modern version, anyway. It does ease up on the looming, at least as much as it could when the mech it's addressing is half it's size.
"Stop trembling. I will not harm you. I'm full. For now. I am called Specimen."

It is pleased that you noticed it's trick is nice! Very pleased. It likes you, leggy flashlight faced Whirl! It will not eat you. For now.
Hmm...it can burrow underground? Oh, and when it howls it makes every mecha jump, scream and run! It's very funny and let's it sneak past guards all the time. It can also transform into a giant...something.
