Thanks for the tag @redroses694, and sorry for the late reply, I was logged into my other account @jadeite-art cause I've been doing stuff there.
Three ships.
Hmm... For HP, I read every other Snape ship under the moon but I only ever shipped Sev with my oc, Dea, who sort of is (or was) a real Snover, it's a bit complicated, I'll tell you all about it one day. Other fandoms: Erik/Carlotta for PotO (cause it's a potentially explosive combo, I wrote one fic for them years ago when I git a sudden struck of genius after a heartbreak and been lovin them ever since). And perhaps Destiel? I used to watch SPN like, a decade ago and I remember I was into that. Think about it, Im not that much of a shipper. I'll consider any pairing if it has some substance and the story is good.
First ship.
Hmm not sure but it might have been Snamione. Or even Snarry. I was much into student /teacher dynamics back when I was still a student myself. Now that I'm the adult, it doesn't hold the same appeal.
Last song.
That might have been September Sun by Type0Neg. I listened to that on my way to work this morning.
Last movie.
Hmm. It might have been 2004 poto. I rewatched that recently. And by recently I mean 2 months ago. I don't really watch movies often. Don't really have time and I MADD which means my whole life is one endless "movie".
Currently reading.
A comicbook "Atnomen" on webtoons. It's f-in amazing! If you're a so called monster lover, I highly recommend it.
Currently watching.
Nothing really. Just youtube but more as a background noise while I draw or something.
Currently drinking.
Just water cause it's late and I had 6 coffees and like 15 teas already.
Currently craving.
D*** (I blame that comic on that, it's really hot) and pizza. Not necessarily in that order.
Tag 9 People you want to get to know better
I was tagged by @somebody-already-took-this-url , thanks for the tag!!
Three ships (I don't really do romantic or sexual ships so these are all platonic)
- Snucius
I find the character dynamic between these two interesting. They're the most slytherin duo. I love imagining tiny first year Severus looking up to Lucius, and Lucius teaching him pureblood etiquette and politics and all that, and just being a big brother.
- Snarcissa
I can imagine these two sitting around drinking tea and gossiping. And sharing stories about hilarious things Draco has done whike he's eavesdropping from behind the door, completely embarassed. I think they would also bond with Narcissa over dealing with Lucius' antics.
- Severitus
This is the ship for Severus as Harry's father figure. I've read hundreds of these fics and I love it. Found family is my favourite fanfic trope. Both of them have major issues and it's great to imagine them both working through their shit together. Severus learning to love again, and Harry learning to trust an adult and be a kid. If you ever want a Severitus fic rec, I'm your person, I've read most of the major completed fics, and I've explored heaps of variations of Severitus.
First Ship:
Snily. I don't ship it anymore because I think Severus deserved better, and it probably wouldn't have been a very healthy relationship. But it still has a place in my heart because it was what got me into the Snapedom in the first place.
Last song:
Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons. They're one of my favourite bands, amd I love this song because Angry Banjo is a genre of music I never knew I needed.
Last Movie:
Black Swan. I love the theme of perfectionism in the movie, it's so interesting to analyse, the cinematography is brilliant, and I love the soundtrack.
Currently Reading:
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. I've just started reading about Stoicism, and it's a really interesting philosophy. I love the way it applies to the real world, and the book is great because it's nice to think about how a Roman Emperor from 2000 years ago had to convince himself to get out of bed in the morning, just like I do.
Currently Watching:
I'm not watching anything right now, but I've been meaning to watch The Terror. It's about a couple of ships that disappeared in the arctic, and all that was found was the remains of diseased and partially eaten bodies.
Currently Drinking:
Water. It's summer here in Australia, so I'm trying to drink a lot of water so I don't get heatstroke while I'm out doing stuff.
Currently Craving:
A break from the humidity, I can't go outside for three minutes without sweating.

You know, I began my descent into hp all those years ago with book 2 (that's cause it was the only one at my school library that wasn't rented out) so my first glimpse of Snape was THIS EXACT SCENE. You can't blame me for immediately liking that asshole. he sass! The flair! The dramatic robe ripple!
Tumblr media
Is Snape nice? No. Is he an absolute comedy icon with a flair for dramatic timing? Yes! I mean he literally stood there waiting and being insulted multiple times just to reveal himself at the perfect moment. We stan.

Yes, absolutely, I wanna see a more "normal" Snape. Y'know, he was, afterall, just a guy. I wanna see him swearing and raging and doing petty shit and all.
Sirius: "Snape knew more curses when he arrived at school than half the kids in seventh year."
11 year old Severus: "You motherfucking, shit-stained, cunt-mouthed little prick. Your chin looks like a ballsack and your droopy eye looks like the hood of a clit."
11 year old Sirius (crying): "I'm rubber, you're glue--"

Is it just me or does this art style have a similar feel to that of the illustrations from the early HP US/Polish editions?
I love it, let that be clear. I'm just gettin' a bit of a vibe and I wonder if anyone else sees that.

This is some really good meta
Compulsive repetition and cycle-breaking - the importance of Albus Severus Potter, or: Harry's last and greatest protector
There is a lot of trauma to go around in HP, and tragically (and realistically), it keeps happening.
Harry is repeatedly orphaned, first from his parents, then from Sirius and Dumbledore - his actual appointed parent figure if anything should happen to his parents, and Harry's "last, greatest protector" according to his narration of the funeral.
Dumbledore's formative trauma is his role in his sister's death thanks to dabbling in Dark magic and the subsequent cover-up, and within his attempt to pay his karmic debt and stop another Dark wizard from taking over, he finds himself endangering god knows how many children under his care: Snape nearly died as a student, and many of the children he watched grow up and then recruited into the OOTP died as well. The seemingly incongruent triumphant look in his eyes when Harry tells him about the blood Voldemort took might be the moment his own pattern breaks for the first time - he is still fighting for the Greater Good, but thanks to his machinations over the years, he had given Harry a chance to survive his part in Dumbledore's crusade. I think this arc concludes when he fights for Draco's soul unto death - it serves a strategic purpose to cement Snape's position, yes, but also, he died having saved a child in his care from the fate that had tormented Dumbledore himself even after an actual century.
Snape's traumas are many, but the formative one is catalyzing Lily's death. He then finds himself - again, but worse this time - forced to push the trigger on his only friend's death. The pain this causes him is evident - he wails like a wounded animal in the immediate aftermath and even risks going to Sirius's house to find something that would keep him going.
I'd like to propose that Snape might have known that Harry's best chance at survival - i.e. Snape's best chance at redemption - would be Harry's Lily-like self-sacrificing act.
Pensieve memories are unfalsifiable, but there might have been an element of choice in when to end them, and it's possible Snape always knew he would have to use a Pensieve to persuade Harry to believe him. The conversation that ends in "Always" couldn't actually have ended like that, because nothing is actually resolved: Dumbledore does not convince Snape that Voldemort's defeat is more important than Harry's survival. The height of the conflict between Snape and Dumbledore is the least natural point to end the scene. Tellingly, Dumbledore's eyes are closed throughout the entire explanation of Harry's supposed ultimate fate. Snape and Dumbledore were both legilimenses, and legilimency requires eye contact. I strongly believe closed eyes, then, indicate "there's more".
“Precisely. If there comes a time when Lord Voldemort stops sending that snake forth to do his bidding, but keeps it safe beside him under magical protection, then, I think, it will be safe to tell Harry.” “Tell him what?” Dumbledore took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
This is followed by the explanation, including the dialogue:
“So the boy . . . the boy must die?” asked Snape quite calmly. “And Voldemort himself must do it, Severus. That is essential.”
So: Harry must know why he is dying, and it must be done by Voldemort's hand. Harry must also find out, and then sacrifice himself, at a very specific moment. If the only important thing is "dead Harry," this could easily be achieved. The specifics are essential.
Dumbledore opened his eyes. Snape looked horrified.
Snape's admonishment, and the "Always" exchange, follow.
After this conversation occurs, Snape kills Dumbledore, and immediately after that he duels Harry and does not let him come to harm, saying "Potter belongs to the Dark Lord".
In Dark Lord Ascending, we see that Snape made sure Voldemort would know he alone must kill Harry. I posit that it was not merely Voldemort's ego, as he could have sent anyone (and indeed he used Narcissa as a human shield to make sure Harry was truly dead). He is uniquely bad at killing Harry. Yet he says:
"But I know better now. I understand those things that I did not understand before. I must be the one to kill Harry Potter, and I shall be."
This must have come from Dumbledore's spy, then sitting beside Voldemort as his most valuable servant.
Snape is still capable of producing the Doe Patronus, which represents Lily, and he is still serving Dumbledore despite having been used by him for years at that point.
It might mean that Snape understood that his personal quest for redemption is not as important as the entire world, but this insight is already served by his choice to die, sending Voldemort to battle with a wand that won't answer to him.
And anyway, if Harry must die, why is it so important that he sacrifice himself willingly? Why is it so important that Voldemort himself do it? A final confrontation between Harry and Voldemort or one of his cronies would have happened at some point, and Harry would have died, and Voldemort's last vestige would have died with him. Snape was not a stupid man, and not an unquestioning follower. The idea that this is actually rather a strange thing for Dumbledore to insist on must have occurred to him at some point. The self-sacrifice element was Harry's chance to come back, and this was why giving Harry the memories was imperative. Presumably, this knowledge also made it worthwhile to Snape to explain himself and his actions as thoroughly as he had, because really - only a couple of the memories he gave Harry are strategically important.
Snape dies because of the prophecy he had delivered. Lord Voldermort says:
"It cannot be any other way,” said Voldemort. "I must master the wand, Severus. Master the wand, and I master Potter at last."
Snape is why Voldemort is interested in Harry, and he dies for this, and because of this. Voldemort thinks he is due to win at any moment.
But Harry - Harry, who had spared Peter Pettigrew, who had by then amassed so many tragic deaths - can feel pity and mercy, even for Snape. In the shrieking shack, where Harry had proved his mettle once before, Snape is slowly dying and Harry shows his compassion to him, the compassion Snape must have missed so much, lacked so painfully. He gets to look into Lily's eyes knowing that perhaps he might not have failed her.
He dies redeemed, even - especially - to the boy who was his main victim. Snape had both orphaned him and mistreated him as a student, but he was Harry's true latest and greatest protector. His pattern is broken, his trauma is resolved, and Lily's sacrifice is not wasted.
And Harry understands him. Snape's main victim reveres him, symbolically makes Snape a member of his family who is worthy to be mentioned in the same breath as Dumbledore. Harry's cycle is broken in that he has his own family, he commemorates his dead, and he forgives and understands even the man he had once hated as much as he did Voldemort himself. In Harry, Snape and Dumbledore broke their patterns, and in forgiving them and understanding he has always had protectors, imperfect as they were, Harry breaks his own. That is the true end, why the epilogue works, and the way to get from repeated loss and trauma to "all is well."

Reblogging this 'cause the names have me in stitches. Below some honorable mentions from other reblogs 'cause they are *brilliant*:
Polish: Piróg Złodziejewski by @andzia267
Mexican: Jose de Queso Nicaragua Chupacabra by @caruto-cruisemaki
Italian: Tony Calzone by @littlegreenfag
ON A RELATED NOTE... If I ever get to write that one fanfic I haven't written for two decades now, I'm totally having a character named, in JK's typical fashion, Magnus Dickens. Anyone care to guess what his main feature might be?

Same, sis, same. Although, I do understand them. As in, I understand why some people would write and/or read this type of fanfic. But I personality don't enjoy them.
I have read and enjoyed smut but there has always been at least a semblance of a plot. As in, there was an in-universe reason why these two characters f*cked and all that f*ucking was actually sort of leading somewhere, usually in terms of character development.
My least preferred type of fanfic is that sort of vignette where some character and reader just are in a situation. I find it extremely boring.
STILL, TO EVERYONE THEIR OWN.
Unpopular opinion: I can not stand the Reader-Insert fic. I prefer a well written OC.
Also: I can not understand short fic with a Reader-Insert or a OC, or in general only smut fic like this even if the pgs are characters already know if they are in a crack ship.
In fact, I hate most of things without a plot. I need a plot. I need proper characterisation. I need to know how and why.
Doesn't need to be all long fic or long explanation, just some sort of it. But I need it.

I love HP in Italian (the movies that it) but the last names crack me up. Other than Piton we've got:
- Albus Silente cause he's silent I guess xd
- Minerva McGranit because she likes "granita" or is stone hard
- Pomona Sprite xd cause Sprite is her fav drink ofc
- Signor Gazza (Filch) cause apparently he resembles a magpie
- Neville Pacioc cause he's "pacioccoso"
- Madama Bumb (Hooch) because... I don't even know
- Baston (Olivier Wood) but that one kinda makes sense cause when Harry hears McGonagall call him he thinks she's requesting a punishmemt device so in order to make it make sense in Italian they renaed him Baston meaning wooden stick
- Colin Cannon because he's got a photo camera, right
- Gilderoy Allock because reasons
- Peter Minus because he had them ten fingers minus one
Me: Piton.
Severus: Who? What?
Me: In Italian they call you that.
Severus: For what reason? My last name is Snape!
Me: In Italian, Piton means Python. Maybe in Italy they think you have a big... snake.
Severus: Oh.

For the Snape Ask Game:
Can I ask your opinion on: 26, 35, 46, and 50?
26. What genre did Snape prefer to read?
He strikes me as a non-fiction type of guy. When he reads it's scientific or history books, that kinda stuff. No harlequins or fantasy novels for him.
35. Snape's BROTP?
I'm gonna go for Minerva. I feel they had a fun, competitive sorta friendship situation going on. And I feel he might have had a friendly relationship with Charity too.
I only now realize his most probable honest frienships are all with women.
46. Which of the Marauders Snape is most likely to have gotten along with?
The only reasonable answer for me is Lupin.
I feel like, if these two had somehow bonded and Snape found out about his lycantropy, he would've tried to help him, just like the Marauders did. Except the Marauders idea of help was turning into animals and taking him on raids, Sev woul've probably tried to brew him Wolfsbane (or if the potion didn't exist yet at the time 'cause I' m not sure, he woul've tried to invent it).
50. Had Snape lived, would he go back to teaching?
No, not unless he was forced to by some unforeseen circumstances.

14, 17, 27 for the Snape asks!
14. What was Sev's fav potion to brew?
Veritaserum.
15. Was Snape still unhappy after joining the DEs?
Hmmm. I think he was doing better than he did at school since he was separated from his bullies. He was probably trying to score some points with Voldy and when he did he would probably experience pleasure from getting recognized and perhaps even rewarded. That said, I wouldn't go as far as to say he was happy. I think having actual friends or family, you know people who honestly cared about him, would have made him happy, and I'm sure he was aware that the DEs did not. So no, he was not exactly happy.
27. Was Snape close to his mom?
Hmmm, hard one. I think he was. He did call himself "Prince" after all. He was definitely closer to her than his father and I want to think that despite all their family issues he cared about her and had a good relationship with her.

This is super close to how I have always imagined him in my head. Like 95% close. I only imagined his mouth/lips a bit different, his nose a bit more hooked, and his hair should obviously be black not brown. Other than that, perfection!
