So Dick put in the work to get that shit in order to actually help people!!

Dick never chose Damian over Tim- Tim refused to engage with him over his grief, shut him out, and left of his own devices! He never told Dick his suspicions on why Bruce was alive, never! And Tim is not the one to bring Bruce back either, there's a whole team at that point! Dick learns Bruce is alive through tossing his 'dead' body into a pit and the body comes to life as a zombie. Tim didn't tell him shit! Tim is also not a little crybaby- Damian cutting his line was a fucking blip on the page, he was momentarily shocked, that was it! He put Damian on his Hit List, which is why Damian cut his line. And his first attempt at "murder" is just pushing Tim off the dinosaur statue in the cave, he didn't go all assassin on him! Also Dick wasn't even there the first incident and wasn't told about the second incident. Alfred is the one who gave Damian Robin and Dick accepted him because he saw that Damian needed help! He needed guidance! He didn't fucking fire Tim the way Bruce fired him, and fuck all of you for thinking that Tim or Jason or fucking anyone has more right over Robin than Dick Fucking Grayson! He tried to promote Tim and Tim walked off. How dare yall make Dick fucking grovel towards that bastard!!!

I think my favorite thing would have to be that he’s a “symbol of hope” in every sense of the word. And I don’t mean it in a cute fluffy way or even in just his work as Nightwing, but from day one.

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I think that Dick’s story is arguably more tragic than Bruce’s. When Bruce’s parents were killed, he still had a home to go back to, and he still had Alfred who’d been with him since forever. (I’m not trying to minimize Bruce’s loss at all btw) But Dick? Not only did he lose his parents in front of a huge audience, but he also lost his circus family, his home. He lost everything. He went from sleeping in a cozy space with his mom and dad to sleeping in a big empty manor with two strangers.

Any child in a situation like that would’ve been completely crushed and lost. But there’s something inside this particular little kid that just made him persevere and shine. Made him want to move rather than stagnate. He’s a living furnace, a bonfire. With the near disturbing innocence of a child he took whatever he had left from his previous life and made something insanely hopeful out of his own tragedy. “I can be the light. I can be Robin.”

Who the hell does that as a child? Who the hell comes out the other side of the worst thing that’s ever happened to them and thinks I’m not gonna be the dark, I’m gonna be the light ???

And then he just continues to do that with anything that gets thrown in his way. He continues to reach out to people and be their light. He continues to make jokes, to forgive, to lighten up the mood. He’s an endless source of light. A literal ball of burning sunshine.

Bruce empathized with the kid and took him in to help him. I wonder if he knew he’d just met his own savior.

the key to not fanonizing your faves is to simply become academia-brained about it. never make a statement about a character you can’t back up with at least three references to the source material

Imagine thinking today, with how much we now know about how drug networks work, that Jason's idea of killing drug mules, drug couriers, drug mafia henchmen or lieutenants, is going to stop illegal drug trafficking. Jason Todd kills the foot soldiers, becomes a drug/criminal head himself, and tries to lecture Bruce and Dick about their crusade of justice and saving lives being useless? That's a petulant toddler logic.

jason todd did have a point. dc seems to be afraid of batman being wrong ever but his son honestly does have a point as the red hood. "stop selling all drugs ever" is never ever ever going to work in a million years no matter how scary batman makes himself, and jason knows that because he grew up in crime alley, but "stop selling drugs to children or i'll personally ensure your head ends up in a duffel bag"? much more actionable goals

The way Gotham takes *everything* from Dick. And still he flies.

Dick having nothing of his parents but a poster on his wall. Half a dozen children have answered to his name(a name Mary Grayson would have never called anyone else), he is just the first. He is forced to watch as something that could only ever be given is twisted into a duty that has to be earned. His legacy is an echo of an echo of a voice he can no longer remember. With every one of their deaths, he is made a murderer, and Mary is complicit; just another piece of the Graysons that Gotham bloodies. Time will take the rest, grinding away at Mary and John Grayson until their faces are lost to stylized shapes and hard outlines- a customer service smile depicted in a 14 year old photograph superimposed over them. Still he clings to a drawing of his parents in free fall, their colors fading every day. Colors that are now worn by someone else.

Detectives don't have off days and if Dick Grayson can't physically solve a case, he will help out other detectives solve theirs. This is such a dense character moment.

Or why people don't make Jason apologise to Dick for punching him when Dick was keeping Jason safe?
