Business Proposal: Drama vs Webtoon - Which one did it better? + Review!
Purely my opinion, and I'm aware that not all of us will be on the same page. But I can't help sharing my take on this ㅋㅋㅋ
Taemu and Hari's blind date
My pick: DRAMA
Tumblr media
Well, I guess Samantha and Rachel are enough reasons why the drama version is superior. Who would ever forget the iconic Hari acting as the fake, femme fatale Jin Youngseo in the drama's blind date scene and how Taemu subtly but funnily retaliated all her antics? I also liked the fact that the lines in the drama are less explicit than in the webtoon. I would cringe big time if I hear drama Hari say these lines, "Screw a threesome. I think I want you ALLLLL to myself. I hope you like getting spanked."
The fake relationship contract
My pick: WEBTOON
Tumblr media
I don't know how to sensibly explain this, but I enjoyed how webtoon Taemu and Hari came to terms in this part more. In the webtoon, there's no such thing as the intimidating contract signing, unlike the one in the drama. Webtoon Hari and Taemu just verbally agreed to it over a fancy dinner. The exchanges between the two in the webtoon are hilarious too, especially this line by Taemu, "The same way you want to marry the man you love, I want to marry the woman I went on the arranged date with. What makes your desire normal and mine abnormal?"
When Hari got busted + HaTae couple's love confirmation
My pick: DRAMA
Tumblr media
It's hard to choose between the webtoon and the drama because the two versions are appealing in their own ways. But I'm picking the drama this time, maybe because there are lots of dillydallying in the webtoon on this part. It took a few chapters before Taemu and Hari affirmed their feelings for each other - there's even a scene in the webtoon wherein Hari thought Taemu's advances were parts of his big revenge plan to make her fall for him, a scene wherein she agreed to become Taemu's part-time girlfriend, as well as Hari feeling wronged 'coz she thought her and Taemu are just getting permission from Grandpa to date but turned out, Taemu is asking for Grandpa's permission to marry her. The drama laid this out more straightforwardly. There's no reason to delay the good thing though.
Getting Grandpa's approval
My pick: WEBTOON
Tumblr media
Webtoon Grandpa definitely won me over, although I think the circumstances on how Taemu introduced Hari to him played a huge factor here. In the webtoon, Taemu introduced Hari to Grandpa as she is, unlike in the drama wherein Grandpa first knew Hari as Geumhee. Webtoon Grandpa didn't fall to any form of deception, so his acceptance of Hari was more plain sailing. Grandpa even referred to Hari as the true big catch for Taemu!
Getting down to business... Proposal!
My pick: DRAMA
Tumblr media
The drama showed us a simple yet earnest proposal, in comparison to the over-the-top proposal in the webtoon by Hari, who did it in the middle of an executive meeting (ikr, what could get more exaggerated than that haha). I'm not sure if I remember it correctly, but I read an interview of Sejeong wherein she said that they decided to skip the get-down-on-one-knee type of proposal for the drama and instead, depict that Taemu and Hari's relationship should naturally/expectedly lead to marriage. Indeed, the drama proposal came out smoothly and adorably. I tend to cringe a lot whenever things between the main OTP arrive at this point, but the way drama Taemu put a ring on it in such a beautiful scenery is nothing but heart-fluttering, implying that Taemu and Hari will only walk on the flower path from then on.
The ending
My pick: WEBTOON
Although there's already an implication of wedding in the drama, I still would want to see them doing the act. That said, I prefer the webtoon ending more - Taemu and Hari got married and then spent a lovely honeymoon afterward. Another thing that wrapped up beautifully in the webtoon is the public reveal of HaTae's relationship. Everyone congratulated, supported, and wished them happiness after their engagement, in comparison to the drama wherein things took a complicated turn after their relationship got publicized. The going-overseas and time-skip tropes even got me slightly appalled. None of us signed up for an LDR, y'know! And I guess I have to say this as well, but the drama did our Line Couple (Sunghoon-Youngseo) quite dirty.
Tumblr media
In the webtoon, Youngseo's father approved her relationship with Sunghoon with the help of Grandpa Kang, and Youngseo eventually agreed to take management lessons for her father's company, much to her father's delight. Isn't this a much better ending than seeing her cutting ties from a controlling father as what's shown in the drama? So yeah, I was sort of dissatisified with the closure the drama gave to our main characters.
I started my Kdrama year with a heartbreak because of The Red Sleeve. I barely recovered from it until after 3 good months. Well-timed, because that's when Business Proposal arrived like a ball of sunshine on a gloomy day... And I never knew I needed this drama until it actually came.
Story - 8/10
I only gave an 8 because this isn't the most original plot we've seen. Lots of tropes were re-used here; although I admit every once in a while, I crave for commonplace stories like this. But let me tell you... The best thing about Business Proposal is the timing when it was aired. This drama's arrival is a breath of fresh air during that time when the entire Kdrama realm was amid seriousness. Its amiable plot cheered us up like an old friend, and soon, we cozily swung along with its predictable narrative. Overall, it was a fun and easy watch - no tugging at our heartstrings, nothing mind-boggling, just pure fluff.
Acting/Cast - 10/10
We should be expecting a cringe-fest, but thanks to the perfect casting, Business Proposal proved itself as a "cliche done right" type of Kdrama. Seriously, whoever casted Ahn Hyo Seop and Kim Sejeong as the main leads definitely deserves a raise. The two rocked their characters so much, especially Sejeong whom I initially had second thoughts with! Yes, I owe Sejeong an apology for saying that haha, but I really couldn't picture how she'd do a romcom at first. After I watched the pilot episodes, I was then convinced why she received the Korean Emma Stone moniker. It is Sejeong's doing that we were able to see Hari as a competent and optimistic woman rather than a damsel in distress. Hari may have lots of crazy and embarrassing moments in the story, but they became peak comedy, executed handsomely through Sejeong's portrayal. And the way Ahn Hyo Seop's acting as Kang Taemu jived well with hers? What a synergy these two built!
Tumblr media
The wonderful chemistry Hyoseop and Sejeong created was truly unexpected. Even in the behind-the-scenes - their sporadic adlibs, the way they tease and laugh at each other, their confidence in sharing opinions on how to deliver a scene - the two of them are just oozing with that couple charisma! Anyone can tell the high level of comfort they had on the set because it is positively emanating through the output of each episode.
Moreover, of course, our gorgeous second couple played by Kim Min Kyu and Seol In Ah impeccably gave life to Sunghoon and Youngseo. Through them, Line Couple's romance also got me invested, on top of the cute bromance and womance they formed with our main OTP. It's a pity we never had a lot of moments of the four of them together. I was also even expecting a double wedding. Figures, how can you insert all that when we only got 12 episodes?
Tumblr media
Music - 10/10
It is not an overstatement if I say I am tempted every day to buy the OST album. Only a few Kdramas give me this kind of urge, and I can't blame my intuition because Business Proposal's OSTs are top-tier! I think I appreciated the OSTs more after the drama ended. Listening to each of them feels nostalgic that I instinctively reminisce a specific moment in the drama - Love, Maybe reminds me of the concert and the fireworks scene, Closer evokes my memory of when Sunghoon and Youngseo finally crossed the line, It's Up To You takes me back to HaTae couple's steamy night, etc.
Tumblr media
Rewatch value - 10/10
Needless to say, it's a 10 'coz rewatching this drama won't hurt! I have this habit of stacking feel-good series meant only for rewatch when I'm feeling under the weather. One on my list is Something About 1%, which is also an awesome, cliche, contract-relationship drama. And I'm happy to share that I have now added Business Proposal to the top of that pile.
Overall rating: 9/10
Business Proposal is neither a perfect drama, nor made to be perfect, but it's charming enough that we willingly embraced all its imperfections. If anyone asks for my opinion about it, I will only remember the good things and tell how happy and excited this drama made me feel, and how this drama made me look forward to Mondays for 6 weeks (when I normally couldn't ㅋㅋㅋ).
I'm still not over Business Proposal and currently in the process of taking off my attachments from it so I would be less lonely. Let's see how long it will take me this time...

We're now onto the second half of Twenty Five Twenty One. While I'm excited about Baek Yijin and Na Heedo's love line, as well as Heedo and Yurim's relationship to evolve from being rivals to friends, what I'm looking forward to the most is for Heedo and her mom to, for once, calmly sit down and talk.
The two of them have been struggling to communicate with each other since the beginning.
Tumblr media
Even talking about simple matters always leads to misunderstanding... Things that shouldn't have dragged on for years if a proper explanation has only been supplied.
Tumblr media
Both of them always assume the worst of each other.
Tumblr media
Words and actions are saying otherwise even if they truly care.
Tumblr media
Wasting time saying things they don't really mean.
Tumblr media
The first half conveys more on Heedo's perspective towards her mom. However, we were able to see several snippets that her mom indeed cares for Heedo but failed to express it as appropriately as it should be. I'm wondering how the drama would justify her mom's behavior the entire time. I can just deduce that it could be because she got widowed early and has to single-handedly raise a kid while struggling to survive and succeed in her career. But would that be enough of a reason to inflict such emotional pain towards a kid while growing up? We'll see then...

I just realized — how come San and Deok Im's love languages were so opposite of what they need from each other?
San's love language: Words of affirmation
Something that he's been craving to hear from Deok Im.
Remember when Deok Im said she'd protect him, he engraved those words deeply into his heart, to the point of confessing, "How can I possibly not love such a woman?"
Remember how brightly he smiled to the point of disbelief when Deok Im answered "I missed you too" during his first visit to her after she became his concubine.
Tumblr media
San always tells Deok Im how much she means to him.
Tumblr media
How much he loves and adores her, that he wants to make a family with her.
Tumblr media
How he becomes powerless and broken whenever he sees her cry.
Tumblr media
But Deok Im either cuts him,
Stays silent,
Or gives him a blatant rejection.
He knows she has deep feelings for him too. There's no way that she doesn't love him back. But since he's not receiving a clear-cut answer, he just satisfies himself with the fact that she's his anyway, regardless of what she feels.
But then until her last breath, Deok Im sealed her heart. She just imparted a subtle response on her true feelings about him. He wasn't able to obtain the ultimate thing he wanted from her – a direct love confirmation – and he beat himself up for that to his deathbed.
Tumblr media
Deok Im's love language: Acts of service
Something that Deok Im cannot demand from him as he is not in the position to do so.
Deok Im saved him a lot of times, putting her own life on the line.
Tumblr media
She frantically looks for solutions when he's in trouble.
Tumblr media
However, sadly, San cannot do the same for her.
Remember that time when Deok Im was wrongfully accused of stealing Lady Yeong's book, the least he could do for her was to send her to exile.
When she was defamed for supposedly having a relationship with a royal guard, he chose not succumb to his personal feelings and go against the rules to save her, even if it means her death.
Poor Deok Im excitedly waited for him to arrive to celebrate the news of her pregnancy, hinting that she's ready to confess her hidden feelings for him (remember the yellow pouch she made with San's sisters which they intend to give to their husbands? It was at this point when I thought Deok Im considered him his husband, the father of her child, her family. This very pouch symbolizes her love🥺) But he never came; instead, he went to comfort his queen. And so she snapped out of reality that he was never hers.
Tumblr media
He scolded her instead of comforting her for the loss of their child. But Deok Im took the initiative to compose her shattered self and went to him to cheer him up.
Tumblr media
He couldn't even save her best friend from the death row, despite having the power to do so.
She's always there whenever he needs her, but he always makes her wait.
She's already contented to be by his side and serve him as a court lady, even if the thought of him being with another woman kills her inside. There's this line in the novel, "As expected, the distance between us is just right. Being further away is somehow hurtful, yet to go closer there is fear. He is there, and I am here. It’s just enough to make the heart flutter a bit. Nothing too sad, nothing too much." But he cornered her by saying she won't see him ever if she rejects him again. I bet she thought, "How can I live without seeing him? Merely seeing him living well is already enough for me." So our girl made the toughest decision. She sacrificed her entire freedom just to be with him. If that is not love then I don't know anymore.
Tumblr media
Disregarding the afterlife scene, their love story is just so poignant. How ironic. They love each other so much, but weren't able to meet each other's needs. I can't help but cry thinking about this.
Hah~ I just wanted to write this as I'm preparing to let go of my lingering attachments towards this drama. My heart really aches for these two. I read Junho's interview yesterday and looks like our boy is also not functioning well after the drama ended. Good to know, we shouldn't be the only ones to suffer you know. Kidding!
And so, here's The Red Sleeve in a nutshell:

The evolution of San's love confession y'all and Deok Im's face every time♥︎
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Red Sleeve - an actual bittersweet historical romance retold as a novel and a drama.
I've a lot to say about this drama, really. However, after I watched the last two episodes, my mind went blank as much as how my heart felt empty. I'm still barely coping up but trying my best to, 'coz as a viewer, we have to move on and don't let the show hole consume us.
Before The Red Sleeve came, I was in a major Kdrama slump — none of the ongoing Kdramas sparked my interest. Nothing grew on me, even the highly-rated and highly-recommended Kdramas. My case is so bad that I turned to Cdramas for most of my 2021. But all thanks to my ultimate bias Wheein (MAMAMOO) for she introduced me to this gem. She sang one of the earlier OSTs of this drama and posted on her IG stories that she's watching it. I'm a bit curious, yet my heart was actually into supporting the drama she lent her voice to. I then decided to watch because of that very (shallow) reason. Best decision, because 7 episodes after, I fell. It was a hard fall.
Story - 10/10
Yes, I'm giving the story a perfect 10. Why? Because this went down in actual history. It's not like we can change it, or it'll be a good idea to majorly distort it. We just watch how the drama will retell that story to us. Of course, it was fictionalized for the drama's sake to cater to the audiences, but what are the chances for those things to happen in real life - being loved by a King to the point of waiting for your acceptance for 15 years even after rejecting him a couple of times, especially during that time? I cannot even imagine. I even read somewhere that rejecting the King at that time is a grave sin punishable by death. So knowing that the gist of the story actually happened, the journey of watching this drama became even more special to me. I got invested to the point of delving into the Korean historical accounts about King Jeongjo and Royal Noble Consort Seong Uibin. I watched the drama sympathizing on how the two must have felt in the past. I read the heartbreaking epitaph King Jeongjo wrote for Uibin while pondering what if she accepted him sooner. Becoming aware that all these possibly transpired in reality prepared my heart to accept whichever way the drama will end. But thankfully, the production team must've understood our woes and consoled us with a fairly sweet ending.
Acting/Cast - 10/10
Don't even get me started with this one. The word excellent for me is an understatement. All of the casts brilliantly gave life to their characters as if they were their own. But for the sake of writing, I would like to specially mention our main leads Lee Junho and Lee Seyoung here. Junho has always been incredible to me ever since I watched him in Good Manager. I thought back then that it's a good decision that he transitioned into acting. That stays true up to this day. Had he never took this path, we won't be able to see how good of an actor he is. As for Lee Seyoung, honestly, this is the first time I properly watched a drama of hers. I remembered watching Hit The Top before, but dropped it halfway through 'coz I'm not feeling it. I never knew she's this kind of an actress. She's phenomenal! How come she gives the right emotion to every scene? She cries real tears at the perfect timing. Her eyes speak so much that you can easily discern what's on her character's mind, even without uttering a single word. I suddenly remembered Kim Go Eun. Her eye expressions are very good too. I guess this is the kind of acting prowess you'll earn after 20+ years of experience.
I know both Junho and Seyoung were not originally casted for their roles, and I apologize for saying this - I can't think of another San and Deok Im if not them. Their chemistry is just so awesome both on and off cam. They got me tensed while watching the actual drama scenes, but made me giggle a lot from watching their BTS (and I always make sure to watch their BTS because they are truly a comedic duo). Their acting is in sync once the camera rolls despite being playful behind the scenes. Their duality! No doubt, they deserved the Best Couple and Top Excellence awards they received from the 2021 MBC Drama Awards. Both of them deserve a Daesang too.
Music - 10/10
Why won't it be 10; this is what got me into this drama in the first place haha! But aside from the OST sang by Wheein, I also especially love Starlight Heart by BEN. The melody of that song makes my heart flutter everytime I listen to it. The other soundtracks are remarkable too and blended well with the scenes in the drama. They'll make you feel wrecked or in love as how you're supposed to be.
Rewatch value - 10/10
I gave this a 10 because I was drawn to rewatch the drama multiple times after I finished the last episode. But my rewatch is just limited to the funny and romantic ones. I choose to instill their happy moments in my memory instead of destroying myself over and over again from the angsty scenes you know ㅋㅋㅋ
Overall rating - 10/10
I rarely rate a drama a 10, but what can I do? This is a perfect drama for me. I am aware that this feeling of longingness and attachment towards this drama will soon fade away. It will only take another good drama for me to let this go. Sooner or later, I'll get over the fact that this drama was once my favorite. But one thing's for sure - this drama is the kind I would highly suggest to my friends should they ask me for a sageuk recommendation. This drama will remain special in my heart. This drama will be remembered by me for a long time.
Tumblr media
And oh by the way, I'm officially sending off this drama through this 2 FMVs I've made. Care to watch? 😊

I am obsessing over this drama these days! At times, this drama reminds me of Love in the Moonlight - a sageuk I went crazy over as well back in 2016. Maybe because both are comedic, heart-fluttering, but dangerous and thrilling court romance dramas. Unconvinced yet? Well, see below❤

All these happened in episode 17 alone! My heart wasn't prepared to consume this amount of sweetness♡
Who else is watching this drama? Yep, not gonna get fed up of contract relationship themed Cdramas as long as the leads' chemistry compensates the clicheness of the plot.
And these two, did. just. that. So adorable! ♥

Tumblr media
A Cdrama with a decent storyline and acting – filled with romance and enough comedic value, but fell short in delineating the main conflict.
Story: 8.5 / 10
Although already an overused plot, contractual relationships never get old. We always welcome dramas where this trope gets creatively re-used, and this time, it's in the form of an established CEO getting into a contractual marriage with a child psychologist to help treat his son's PTSD. The drama hit it off with me from the get-go! It took a few episodes before the story set foot on the main plot — a very sane move 'coz the drama will surely appear half-baked if done otherwise. Of course, this cliché story will never be complete without our bickering main couple, their funny yet heart-fluttering forced skinship, until love comes into fruition in their pseudo-affair.
Tumblr media
But then, as much as I wanted to give it a perfect 10, the number of loopholes I tried to overlook in the drama (especially towards the end) is intolerable. The ending is sweet but feels rushed. The accident that drove the story into what it is wrapped up so prematurely. I still give it to them that the backstory is not what I expected. I just wished they gave us more narrative about it, tie up the loose ends, and round it all off.
Acting/Cast - 9 / 10
The whole casts are exceptional, even our cutie-pie Lennon Sun who played the adorable Xiaobao. I heard Lennon was just 4 years old at the time of filming and that Unforgettable Love is his first drama, but I can never tell 'coz he nailed the role perfectly! If you can just imagine how I melted when I heard Xiaobao speak for the first time in the drama. He's grown on me ever since the first scene I saw him.
As for our main couple, I didn't buy the chemistry between Miles Wei and Hu Yixuan at first. But as episodes went along, I came to acknowledge how cute their pairing is! Their kissing scenes are not awkward to watch (they drove me crazy as a matter of fact). Miles, Yixuan, and Lennon's acting are well-coordinated, making them naturally look like a lovely family of three.
Tumblr media
I've no issues with the supporting casts as well, except for one - Shi Qing Yan's portrayal as Lin Wei is excellent, but the drama made her character seem like a filler to the story. I get it that Lin Wei's supposed to help build up the tension and disturb our CP's blossoming romance. However, after the troubles she caused in Qiaoyan's company and life, she just fled off from the picture and eventually sought comfort with (none other than) Ning Fang. Like... What?! The writers are to blame, I know. And I, too, will approve to give everyone a happily ever after. Nevertheless, isn't this last-minute matchmaking rather offbeat? I don't know, but there, I said it.
Music 8 / 10
The OSTs have a low recall to me (except for the opening theme) but they fit very well with the scenes in the drama.
Rewatch value - 8.5 / 10
There are lots of better dramas than this, but Xiaobao is enough of a reason to make me rewatch this drama some time in the future. I still can't get enough of his cuteness!
Overall rating: 8.5 / 10
It's a pity that the drama's potential flaked out at the last minute. But if you're just in for the fun and will not try to overthink, I'm sure watching this will be an enjoyable ride. Just beware of the occasional moments offering secondhand embarrassment and sexual tensions giving pure cringe. Overall, Unforgettable Love is one cute and fun Cdrama to binge on♥︎

Btw, I made a FMV about this drama! I really enjoyed making this haha😊

Imitation is a must-see Kdrama for KPop fans, especially die-hard ones
Story: 8.5/10
I haven't read the webtoon yet so there's no comparison to make, but I heard this drama adaptation is slightly different from it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the drama. The story flowed smoothly and never lost its premise till the end, i.e. to show the offstage life of KPop idols and the dark side of KPop. I was just kinda disappointed with how it ended. I lost count on the times I cringed from watching the last episode.
Acting: 9/10
Kudos to the idol stars who were cast in this drama for they've done a fine job portraying their characters. Saying this 'coz I've seen a lot of idol actors who did way worse, some of them even played main lead roles. Lee Jun Young excellently carried the whole drama tbh. Jung Ji So surprised me a lot with her idol skills. There are moments tho when it shows that she isn't an idol 'coz her moves aren't as flawless as theirs. But I understand; idols went through years of training compared to her. As for the supporting casts, La Rima and Ri Ah stood out to me the most! I liked how their characters were built and good acting highlighted them even more - strong yet sensible and empathetic women, and talented and pretty on top of that.
Ryoc and Maha are cute but their chemistry is just... Okay. Nothing grand. I think I felt more excited when they're still on the push-and-pull stage than when they already started dating.
Music: 7.5/10
This is just a matter of personal preference so I hope you understand! I only liked 5 songs in the drama:
No Answer by La Rima
If We Were by Lee Maha
Your Sign by Shax, Tea Party, La Rima, and Sparkling
My Old Story (cover) by Kwon Ryoc and La Rima
Closer by La Rima
Yes, I admit I love La Rima so much!
Rewatch value: 7/10
As much as I liked this drama, I'm not thinking of rewatching this sometime in the future. I'll just keep the raw emotions I felt while watching the drama as they are.
Overall rating: 8/10
This is an okay drama. I never regretted watching this. It's as if the production team gave us a backstage pass to see what KPop idols are going through behind the scenes. The story made sense in so many ways, although the message will only feel deeply relatable to true KPop fans. This drama may serve as an eye-opener to fans to set their limitations and keep in mind that idols are humans too. Living the KPop idol dream requires lots of hard work and sacrifice. Fantasy and high pressure co-exist in their world, and oftentimes, they need a breather from all of it.

Tumblr media Tumblr media

Synopsis: A fantasy-romance web drama in which Oh Ha Rin (Yeri) will revisit the past through mysterious photos left by her first love, Ji Seo Jun (Hongseok) who died on her birthday 10 years ago. It's not so wrong to say that the May-December relationship is taboo, especially among Asians. Most people I know had this inkling that when a younger guy hooks up with a woman way older than him, it could prolly mean one of two things — the guy's a paramour or she's a sugar momma. I'm honestly not a fan of it either on the premise that women mature faster than men. Let's be real, an immature relationship is a disaster. But now that I'm in my late 20s, and a hopeless romantic single at that, I kinda pondered over this. It suddenly occurred to me, what if one day I’m caught up in the position of being pursued by a younger man? Will I let the stigma affect me emotionally? Or will I take the risk ‘coz all is fair in love? I still don’t have a definite answer to this question. However, watching Find Yourself served as an eye-opener for me to look at things from a different perspective.
Find Yourself is a 2020 Chinese drama starring Song Wei Long and Victoria Song. It tells the story of a 32-year old Executive Director who never *even once* experienced dating. Given her age and career stability, she receives constant pressure from the people around her to find someone to marry and has since frequented blind dates arranged by her family, friends, or colleagues. But this girl is just someone who swears by the "spark" - no spark, then no point to the relationship. She may be old for fantasizing over first love and such, but she still yearns that it'll naturally come to find her someday. Until her thirst for real romance is quenched by a 22-year-old guy who started working as an intern in her company at his brother’s request.

Although hesitant at first due to their huge age difference and the societal views, she went out with him on the condition that they'll keep it a secret for the first 3 months. If everything went well, she agrees to publicize her relationship with him.

Let’s start off with the good things...
I just can't with this drama...! This so beautiful, cute, relatable - especially for a woman in late 20s like me.
Plot-wise, it was well-imparted and makes perfect sense, touching a looooooot of relationship aspects in 41 episodes. Not only did I enjoy the happenings between our main couple, but our side couples' stories are very interesting too.
This drama pretty much straightened out my prejudice about age-gap relationships.
Light-hearted, just the way I like it! Every episode will make you smile and/or laugh hard.
Sexual tensions overload and superb kissing scenes! Let those hormones rush in. Not awkward to watch 'coz They. Did. Not. Hold. Back. Ack! If you're single, be prepared to feel MORE SINGLE watching this drama.

Well-written lines that will make you feel real emotions. The words will shoot you straight to the heart.
Acting-wise, the casts, from the mains down to the sides, did a super fine job in conveying the sentiments of their characters. My highest admiration goes to male lead Yuan Song, not (only) because he’s young, hot, and handsome, but because his youthful vibe made me reminisce the paradox of my early 20s awww. Anyways, in the beginning, I am sort of confused why (of all girls) he fell head over heels with our female lead He Fanxing who's obviously out of his league. I even suspected him of taking advantage of her naivety in matters of the heart. But as the drama went along, our dude proved himself genuine... That he's sincerely just a guy who's deeply in love with a woman... That indeed, true love can exist in this kind of relationship. Both Yuan Song and Fanxing emotionally benefited from each other and it's so lovely seeing that.
⚠️ AND SORRY BUT THIS IS A SPOILER ALERT⚠️
Halfway through the drama, our main couple called it quits. I'm somewhat grateful that it happened. Their break-up scene is just so powerful I had to rewind it many times. Not because I liked seeing them suffer from the consequences of their incompatibility. Rather, I loved it 'coz it became the turning point of their relationship.
Their love is premature, to begin with — trust isn't mutual, commitment is one-way, only showing each other's good sides in fear of the relationship turning sour, one is willing to compromise while the other wants to avoid responsibility, filled with doubts and insecurities. During this break-up phase, we were shown the difference between how kids and adults behave and decide in a dilemma. I suddenly remembered this one line delivered in the drama which I agree with — "Only kids would choose one or the other. Adults find solutions". The break-up also served as our main couple's period of contemplation about who and what they want in life. It taught them how to fully embrace their offbeat romance against the norms. Fortunately, things wrapped up into a sweet end.
And of course the bad...
Hmmm... Maybe I'm just not used to it but am I the only one who thinks that this drama is quite lengthy? Yes, I enjoyed it but it's not a good one to binge-watch. It took me almost a month to finish this I nearly drowned haha. Honestly, there were parts they could've just compressed instead of dragging it for too long. One example is Ye Luming and He Fanxing's relationship trial. Ooohhh I hate this part it brought shivers down my spine ugh. Well truth be told, Luming and Fanxing are compatible and better off as friends. They jive so well, and I give it to them that they're both adults who can only understand adult things.
Tumblr media
But when Luming all of a sudden became a sneaky character to an intolerable point... Ah, I don't know anymore! Seeing how compelled Fanxing is to being Luming's girlfriend got under my skin. Although these ugly parts eventually became a good contributory factor to Fanxing's realization of her true feelings towards Yuan Song, but still...! I also hated Fanxing at one point for being so gullible in love. But yeah, I had to swallow it because that's her character setup in the first place. It should be expected of her to be hasty and dubious about it.
On the other hand, I wished they've been generous in showing us more about how Yuan Song and Fanxing's relationship is going after the public reveal. I've been waiting for this the entire time (they could've done so much more in 41 episodes' length!) so I'm quite disappointed.
After watching the second season of Well-Intended Love, I admit I lost interest in Chinese dramas. So watching this restored my faith in them. I even have a list of C-dramas lined up now! But I have to move on from this one first before I start another. It's not as easy as I thought ㅠㅠ
What do you think about this drama? Are we on the same frequency? ❤️
If you haven't watched this yet, watch it now. As in 지금부터 RIGHT NOW. Highly-recommended!
