Leaving aside that he never actually asked her out, at least not that we see, and therefore that wasn't a "rejection," the whole reason they had a falling out was because he was already getting involved with people Lily didn't like. It just ended up being the last link he had to people outside the group (neither defending her choice to end their friendship nor saying that she was wrong, it's just a fact). If he joined the Death Eaters to get back at her, why did he risk his life when she was threatened?

I get what this is going for and that the whole "spoons theory" thing applies but I really really need everyone to understand that these are work for literally everyone on the planet. You do not have to be mentally ill or disabled for these to require effort that may be overwhelming.

I'm not trying to get in the way of an encouraging message for people who are struggling extra because of illness or disability but I do think it's extremely important to say this as well because I have seen A LOT of complete garbage nonsense over the years on places like Tumblr and Facebook that pathologise everything to an extent that is (ironically) deeply unhealthy and unhelpful, invalidates the people who feel overwhelmed but don't have some diagnosis to go with it, and gives everyone, both abled and disabled, an unhealthy and false expectation that these kinds of things come easily/naturally/effortlessly to everyone else and that they're the only ones who have a hard time with it. People DO struggle with different things to different degrees and at different times, but it's bad for everyone to imply that this is only the case for some people. I promise you that relationships, keeping your life together, managing your time, doing chores and errands, earning a living, doing schoolwork, doing hobbies etc, are work for literally every single person on the planet who has to do them, everyone has to try, everyone has to make an effort, everyone fails at least some times, this is normal for everyone.

There’s no such thing as work-life balance for neurodivergent & chronically ill people.

This is because everything in my life requires work:

maintaining friendships

keeping up with my hygiene

managing bills

making money

remembering my basic needs

sleeping regularly

outputting creatively

All requires some aspect of work for me.

And when everything in your life requires work, your balance goes out the window.

If you're neurodivergent and overwhelmed — I see you.

If you're chronically ill and overwhelmed — I see you.

You're not dysfunctional.

You're not incapable.

You're doing your best.

Sometimes it's fun for villains to stay unapologetically evil, especially if giving them a redemption arc would feel too...I dunno, moralistic? Optimistic? Like in a world where other characters do that, you don't want every character to do that, you want there to be contrast, or maybe they're a funny kind of unhinged villain who's just so much more entertaining to watch be evil than not...

I suspect that isn't the kind of person OP had in mind, just saying, sometimes you want someone to be evil because it just works

But I have also seen way too many of the kind of person I think OP is referring to and I don't trust them one bit. On my online dating profile I literally wrote "if you think Snape was a villain, do not match with me" as a dealbreaker and I am 100% deadly serious about that, not because I care so much about a kids' series that I would only ever date someone who had the same fandom opinions as me (if they had never read the books, for instance, that's no problem) but because if you are so black and white in your thinking that you are unable to get beyond first impressions even when someone's entire motivation and history is laid out plainly before you by the omnipotent pen of the author then we have absolutely nothing to work with and we'll both be happier staying far away from each other...

when ppl are like “they better not get a redemption arc” about a villain… it’s like oh no, yes it would be so so terrible if someone realized the consequences of their actions and took steps to make amends for them 🙄
