I'm abt to make a separate blog for my Japanese studylog shit, but until then, have my (most definitely wrong) etymylogical brain cobwebs:
私の (ほぼ間違いなく正しくない) 推理：
続 ＝ Physical continuation ?；日常的な使用
綴 ＝ metaphorical continuation ? → 言葉を見て、 "spelling"、"composition"、"tapestry"
→ can also mean opposite, 「とじる」と「つづりこみ」→ "to Close" and "binder"
→ 前記について、can have other definitions closely related to the「おる」family
・と共に、「折る」- "to break" (relates to the neg. sense) 、「織る」- "to weave"
→ totally unrelated けど...
～・～ "daily use" の文例： 「日常的な使用 (私)」vs.「日常的に使用 （グウグル）」- why に over な ？
～・～ "daily use" の類語：「日常」vs.「常用」vs.「当用」
