Sometimes I grieve places that don’t exist anymore. It’s partly because I miss them but more and more it’s because I’m sad that younger people will never get to experience them.
Malls that have been torn down but that once gave teens a place to hang out or work and had CD/record stores, toy stores, book stores, stores full of things like rain lamps and treasure trolls and the best pens I’ve ever used, amusing fountains, and weekend events like comic book sales or antique shows or fun fashion shows for kids.
Certain restaurants with the best gyros or egg rolls or fried mushrooms that none of us will ever taste again.
Areas at a local water park that were once lush with trees and meant for picnics and areas full of waterfalls and slides through rocky formations that felt like a river adventure that were mowed down and replaced by neon tubes and pavement.
That spot by the creek where you could walk right up to it and climb trees but now the trees are gone and it’s fenced in private property.
That empty lot that once held small fairs and festivals but now it’s a gated community.
When you could drive north a few miles on one of the main roads and find yourself in an orange grove and get fresh orange juice but now its solid suburbs through the entire county.
That one store that was like if a Walgreens was way cooler.
Just… so many great places I wish people could still experience…

They can very much be baby once you get to know them.

Viable career choices (not just long shot, you have to go viral or you won’t make it, or you have to devote basically your entire existence to it, or you need to have another source of income/it’s just your side job to make a little extra, or you need to already have a bunch of money/resources to even get started, or you need to get lucky or put way too much effort into finding a way to make it work) should include crafts! Weaving, sewing, pottery, needlework, etc. You should be able to do these things as a job then go home and rest. They are not meant to be primarily hobbies they are meant to make us the things we need to survive then can be a hobby whenever you want them to be. Some of us are built to create because it used to be part of living and our souls are dying because we’ve cut that out of our culture so deeply.
I know it's not the worst thing about capitalism. But I do think there's something really *bad* about the fact that between lack of leisure time, lack of disposable income, and "hustle culture" mindset that for many, many, many people the primary/only way they are able to express their creativity and artistic aesthetics is through consumer culture. Buying stuff and displaying that stuff.
When like...making stuff. Drawing, painting, weaving, crafting, sketching is like, baked deep deep into our bones as humans.
But I know so many adults who haven't like...drawn a picture since they were children.

hey. to the fat person reading this who wants to transition or is transitioning. make your transition goals fat like you. please. the things you aim to gain from transition can be gained while fat. you can be/express your gender and be fat. there is nothing wrong with that, no matter what anyone says. i promise.
let yourself exist. let yourself be happy. you have just as much of a right as every other person in this world to do that, especially as you transition. it's okay. you're going to be alright, and you're also going to look fucking awesome. you already look fucking awesome. it's your body. own it.
