I haven’t watched the new ep but i find it SO funny that RTD has bullshitted his way into creating yet another tennant-doctor to palm off to one of his companions as a little treat

obsessed w jade legacy's refusal to wrap everything up neatly like yeah the war was resolved but it wouldn't make much sense if everything for everyone else was too, that's not how life goes. i love that it leaves when there's there's still a story just
people still don't understand niko at all. will anyone ever learn about autism and get him a diagnosis?
will his and wens relationship ever truly recover?
will jaya be able to let go of mada still being alive? or will she go after her herself?
anden's relationship is still kind of rocky
lott's still just so repressed. lott/anden juiciest messiest middle-age man affair janloon has ever seen when
where will tia's place be when she grows up?
the clan system is still completely fucked and there's still no hope that it could ever be brought down bc they're simply too powerful like????
insane actually

i saw a post the other day which was like 'its bad faith to criticise rwrbs politics' bc it's 'part of the fantasy' blah blah blah and it annoyed me bc... no, it's not? ftr im not judging anyone who liked this book, i also liked it for the most part, but it's politics are. bad. it's not like it uses fantasy states with fantasy governments. it plucks two imperialist institutions with all their evil, bloody histories and goes, well, if a woc was in charge, everything would be better :)
call me a joyless communist or w/e but you can't do that and call it 'part of the fantasy'!! you cannot ignore centuries worth of atrocities for the sake of a silly little romance novel and say people shouldn't bring it up or that they're being unfair! this is a perfectly reasonable criticism!!!

not including things for time constraint reasons is perfectly fine, honestly, but having the resolution of charles' three book character arc happen off page and relayed in the briefest conversation between two people who are not especially invested in it is unforgivably bad writing.

normally I criticise cc's tendency towards deus ex machina type endings but having literal god appear to smite the big bad is such a bold fucking move I can't even be mad about it
