2024 Event Interest Check!

We're looking for feedback for the 2024 Event, specifically about what dates would work best for everyone and what format everyone would like to see!

A little bit of clarity for those who have not done this before -- the option to allow the Prompt Fest to be hosted on AO3 means that people would be able to submit their prompts via AO3, similar to exchanges, and then be able to claim prompts anonymously.

There's also an added interest check for future RexObi Big Bangs.

Title: I need somewhere to begin again, Chapter 1

Pairings: Rex/Obi-Wan, Rex & Cody, Obi-Wan & Cody, Rex & Wolffe

Summary: Someone Obi-Wan thought long dead sees him in a cantina on Tatooine and completely changes Obi-Wan’s life. Post RotS.

Fate had taken his home, his family, his friends, and even his duty. And now it had taken his last reason to live. Obi-Wan felt a tear slip down his cheek and wind through his beard, dripping off the gray-streaked auburn hair and into his glass of whiskey. He was so caught up in his sorrow, he didn't notice the pair of dark brown eyes staring at him in recognition from across the cantina.

If I Ever Leave This World Alive

Out in the vast well of space, Obi-Wan dreamed a man. He drifted from system to system, eternal and endless. Time and the cold had rendered the durasteel shackles around his wrists and ankles weak and brittle, and he had snapped them at some distant point in the past. Arms and legs free, he curled inward, knees drawn up to his chest. The man died. And then he lived. In which Obi-Wan and Rex may never leave this world alive.

Summary:

When a motorcyclist stops to help Rex catch his runaway horse, he doesn't think much of the man except his kindness.

Now confronted with seeing him again, Rex can’t help wanting to meet Obi-Wan Kenobi as many times as he can before he leaves the archipelago... Maybe even after.

He just wished that his family wouldn’t try to get involved.

Writing this fic was a journey and a half - I’ve never taken part in a Big Bang before and I learned a lot about writing (and planning!) a long-form fic over months - lots of things to take with me for next time. Life also got in the way a bit (losing my job was definitely a highlight) but we got there in the end!

I’d like to thank my wonderful artists for creating such amazing pieces - seeing things I’ve written come to life like this is such an honour 🧡 I’d also like to thank the @rexobibang mods for creating and running this fun event for this awesome rarepair 🧡

“Please,” Rex says quietly. It’s desperate, a plea, almost lost in the jumble of cutlery and trays from the bussing station across the room.

“I’m not trying to out you, Rex,” Obi-Wan says softly, because he has to press otherwise they’ll get nowhere. “But you do need to address this. I’m not always going to be there to pretend it was me the next time you forget yourself. This is nothing to be afraid of; you’re remarkable, in fact. One of a kind.”

And that was the wrong thing to say.

Summary: Inspired by The Owl House, Ben is a young half-witchlet and Rex is a normal human. Rex doesn’t know about Ben’s powers or anything, he just thinks his best friend is really cool! It isn’t until later that Rex finds out, but will this change how he sees Ben? Can a human and a witch be friends?

Also please enjoy this little drawing too, where I tried my best to marry my art style with TOH's for some additional Cody representation. He's too tiny on the main illustration - I bet you couldn't even see him, but he IS there :P

Rex's goal was to get into the organization, get the information, and take it down. Of course, no one had ever successfully infiltrated this empire, and most people had died attempting it, so it was easier said than done. But, the fact that a government agency had also sent in an agent, their best agent, was either a very good or very bad thing. Rex just happened to recognize them, and for some reason, Ben had decided that working together is the best option. What could go wrong?
