i have made the realization that before the line by dodie is the PERFECT caleb widogast song in the most heart wrenching way possible. it perfectly encapsulates his feelings especially in the earlier episodes of the campaign and when they delve further into his backstory. the line,
âAnd so I stretch my eyes across the land and sea / I know I loved the world, but now it's flat to me / Oh, tell me, did someone snatch the light? / Why doesn't it look right?â
specifically reminds me of when the mighty nein are on the ball eater and he has to listen to everyone make plans about the empire and trent ikithon. or the moment when veth and caleb are looking up at the stars. honestly the entirety of when caleb is a pirate. and then you get hit with the chorus thatâs justâŠperfect in the saddest way.
âI made a promise but I break it every day / It's not my fault, for I was promised just the same / Once I saw fire / And all I know / Is something happened / Did I let it go?â
like youâre telling me that that absolute gut punch of a lyric doesnât perfectly describe what he feels about what he did to his parents. and lastly towards the end of the song, dodie sings a line that reminds me so much of his ptsd and his regrets.
âNow every morning since the line between my lives / I greet the sun, and ask, "have I already died? / If not then why am I alone? / And when can I come home?" anyways, moral of the story is, this is the perfect caleb widogast song and the first time i heard it, that was all i could think of so i wanted to make a post about it. some of my timeline info may be mixed up because itâs been a hit minute since i finished the second campaign but IT STILL STANDS!

My favorite part of watching the seven is finding out in real time which players did their research and watched fantasy high and who is just learning all this shit for the first time. The difference in like Persephone vs Izzy react to Brennan referencing fantasy high cannon is so funny, even more so because Izzy is his literal fiancé.
