{` he pulls back and looks down at her, nodding slightly.  He tried to stamp out the slight flutter in his chest at the sight of her.  He wished it was as easy to turn off his emotions as it was to keep them at a distance, but he wouldn't retract the fact that it had ended.  There was no way he was letting anyone in} Yeah I'm pretty good.  School's driving me insane though, I can't imagine how the last couple of years will be.  {` he looks up at the haunted house and clenches his jaw slightly} Well... I spose we should head i there, get this over and down with.  {` he smiles at her} You can cling to me as much as you want, I know you'll be terrified.

It seemed that no matter how good Kris tried to be trouble always found its way to him.  He had a funny feeling it had something to do with his family's charge, who always seemed to have a knack of getting into it.  Apparently, even when they weren't there.  He could just barely recognise the faces that had approached him, throwing a few taunts his way - he knew his chrage had pointed them out as someone they had had a run in with.  What they wanted with Kris though, was a mystery.  Well, kind of.  He knew it was probably going to be something about a lesson, or a general picked out by association.  But it really wasn't something he needed.
He had only been released from hospital about a month ago and the pressure bandages still adorned his middle underneath the layers of clothes.  It still hurt to move too fast or at certain angles, and he knew that if they touched anywhere on his back there would still be searing pain that brought tears to his eyes.  And so right now he was doing everything in his power to dispel the situation and figure out an escape route.  Which wasn't that easy when they had him completely surrounded.
"Look, I dunno what trouble you have with others, but it doesn't include me right?  I have nothing against you.  I just want to get home," he pleaded, watching as several of them cracked their knuckles and what appeared to be their ring leader snorted.
"Yeah right, fat chance weirdo.  I know what you've been saying to us with that little friend of yours.  Although, he looks more than that.  Are you his dog?"
The taunts reflexively caused Kris to clench his fists and he realised too late what that would look like.  Steeling his jaw in preparation for what was to follow, he head shot around when he heard the sound of approaching footsteps and a voice.

Young and simplyfourteen. Petite and frail for her age. Which was probably why she tripped when there was nothing in her path to cause the incident. She had always been a bit on the thin side and her mother would always worry that she would stay that pale. Hyuna felt slightly awkward when she was out in the open like this as she walked, holding the straps of her backpack. She was on her way back home. Her mother was too busy working, trying to move from one place to another to personally talk to the investors of her father’s company.
As she walked, she had somehow landed in the suburban part of Seoul. Seeing as she was not familiar with the city (only saw it behind the windows of their car), she had easily got lost. Her panic rose seconds after she had realized where she was. She looked around frantically, trying to find a single familiar thing in her surroundings that will somehow pinpoint her in the right direction. There was no such thing. She started walking away from her spot, reaching out to ask one of the many pedestrians that passed her ,but was suddenly struck by her shyness. Hyuna took her hand back and let it fall beside her.
She walked past the mass of bodies, feeling claustrophobic as she did so. There was a cafe just on the other side of the street that she could go to. She was sure that her mom’s credit card had a bit of money on it and she could buy herself something to eat. Perhaps she could even borrow someone’s cellphone and call her mother so she could pick her up. How can there be so many people in one place, she asked herself when she was finally able to breathe. She set her eyes on her destination and was ready to walk when she saw something. She turned her head and saw a group of boys circling around one boy. She couldn’t hear what they were saying but she sensed immediately that something was wrong. Curiosity and the desire to protect whoever was in need just like her father taught her made her head towards that direction instead.

{` glancing down at the hand she offered him, he took it, engulfing it with his own as he shook it} Tiffany, so now I can tell everyone everything about you.  {` he tried to hide a smile with his words}  I'm Kris, at least that's the only name you need to know of mine.  {` he narrowed his eyes briefly, leaning down ever so slightly to be a little closer to her in height} Secrets are secrets for a reason you know.  {` straightening again, he shrugged} Maybe, I doubt it though.  Not much I enjoy in what's available to me.
A small giggle escaped past her lips as he spoke out. It was true, he hadn’t got to learn her name yet, which was pretty rude of her. Before he could carry on she interrupted him. “Ah, forgive me. Im Hwang Miyoung. But you can call me Tiffany.” Extending her hand out for him to shake. Her eyebrows raised up at hime once again, a smirking taking to her lips. “Oh really? Maybe we could swap secrets” Jokingly she let out a small chuckle and then looked into his eyes. “Well that makes sense i guess, but make sure you do something you enjoy.”

Kris nodded, though furrowed his brows.  He was surprised in that case that he hadn't seen the boy around; he knew he tended to stick to himself and those he knew, but if Hongbin had been here the whole time like Kris they had to have at least passed each other in the halls.  Now that he thought of it there were quite a few juniors he was aware of, though he presumed none of them were probably in Hongbin's circle of friends.  Scrunching up the wrapper of his finished chocolate bar, he shoved it into his pocket to dispose of when they next came across a bin.  "Same, been round this neck of the woods my whole life."
He smiled ever so slightly, just a twitch of the corners of his lips at the vague information of the subjects.  "I managed to scrap maths, I was never good at it.  I mostly do English and Art subjects.  Would be nice to do something with them when I graduate, but I won't be able to," he said with a shrug.  Sometimes Kris really hated the fact that his life had been mapped out for him since before he was even conceived.  And unfortunately this was no Disney movie where the main character defies their parents wishes to do what they love and are suddenly accepted.  This was real life and it was his duty, as it had been since the moment he was born, to serve the Blue Blood family his parents were under.  Which meant he had to get a job in a field that would somehow benefit them - something he highly doubted an artist could do.
Overhead the bell rang to signal the end of their break and with a sigh he pushed himself to his feet.  "The breaks are always over too quickly.  Thanks for hanging out though Hongbin, it's been good," he started, moving off a couple of steps.  "You've made it into the list of the few strangers I don't mind.  See you round, yeah?"

Haunted Past || Kris & Jieun
{` if there was one thing to say about him it is that he absolutely jumps at any chance to make himself look more tough; it helped to hide the fact that his heart could probably melt gold.  So when he receives an invitation to go to a haunted house, he agrees despite knowing he's probably actually going to scream like a little girl.  Not to mention he isn't really fond of dark, enclosed spaces.  Nevertheless he arrives at the destination on time, smiling warmly at the figure he approaches} Hey Jieun, how you doing? {` he opens his arms for a hug, never seeing the girl without giving her one}

When Hongbin refuses the chocolate Kris shrugs, pulling the wrapper open and lifting it to his lips, taking a bite.  He remembered all the times before his charge turned that they would sit around sharing chocolate bars.  But then they got a taste of blood and chocolate became rather subpar in comparison.  Tastes changed with it, apparently.  Sweet toothes became savoury and savoury lovers favoured salty foods.  Kris thought he'd be rather disappointed if he lost his love for sweets.  Blander stuff just wasn't his style.
As he ate the pair had fallen into a comfortable silence - at least Kris felt it was so.  He had no idea how Hongbin felt, possibly nothing was comfortable for him and he wondered whether he should still be making idle chit-chat.  Swallowing a mouthful, he licked his lips.  "Have you been here since Freshman year?  I have, actually, I've pretty much grown up around this area so I know it pretty well.  I could give you all the secret haunts," he began, reaching up to rub his neck nervously.  "Just...stay away from that burnt old house up on the hill."
He wondered whether the other boy had known it before it became a charred mess.  Occasionally he would still hear the odd student discussing the location and how it was a shame such a grand old place went up in flames.  No one, except for himself and a couple of others, knew exactly how it had happened, or what had happened during it.  Kris let out a shiver with the thought, his back tingling as if on cue.  It was time for a new topic.  "What classes you take?"

Kris took it as a victory that he managed to make the other smile, and gave himself an extra silent congratulations when the boy attempted humour back towards him.  He was glad that the events in the past hadn't resulted in him becoming an awkward, stumbling mess like Hongbin appeared to be.  He knew the feeling though, of being nervous and uncomfortable - hadn't he just suffered it before?  And so he hoped that he could help Hongbin relax a little bit, just as he was now.  It was the reason why he bothered to pull the boy out here in the first place.
Usually, Kris played a see-saw game of not caring what others thought of him.  Most of the time he wouldn't bother to help another out - not because he was a cruel guy - but because usually helping someone forged a kind of bond between two people, and he tried to avoid those.  On the other hand though, he cared very much how others saw him and played a constant game of giving them what they wanted to see while keeping his real self hidden.  There was something about Hongbin that didn't enforce this though; Kris felt that the two of them could share a connection of being nervous without having to know what made the other so.
Sliding down the railing so that he was seated against it he smiled, glad that Hongbin was feeling better.  "Good.  I don't like extremes.  Too many people isn't cool, but none isn't either.  I find a few people - especially those you trust - is a good balance.  They have your back, ya know?" he replied, reaching into his backpack and pulling out a chocolate bar.  "Want some?"

{` he nods lightly with the information, smirking slightly and mirrored the raising of her finger to her lips} Yeah, right, and what am I going to say anyway?  I don't even know your name to fib on you. {` he shrugs lightly} Besides, I got stuff I don't want found out myself, so I won't be tattletaling on anyone. {` once again he shrugs, this time with a little less enthsusiasm} I suppose, I kinda have to go into something that will help the family my parents deal with.  So doesn't leave me with too many options.
{/she shook her head gently and proceeded to tilt her head to the side} No not really. {/she smiled brightly again and let out a small giggle} My school life and work comes first, if I’m too swamped with work i turn any modelling things down. But i have blown off school a few times. {/she raised her eyebrows at him and pouted her lips placing her finger on top showing him to keep quiet about it} My parents just want me to be happy. But I’m sure you’d do something amazing after you graduate.

The fresh air on his face made Kris feel a little better, it made him feel safer.  The air was clean and pure and there was definitely no hint of smoke in it anywhere.  Which meant he was safe, even though he had been abandoned.  But then, he looked at the boy who had tagged along with him, he wasn't really abadoned was he?  As long as there was one person with him nothing should happen.  That was what he tried to tell himself anyway.  Slipping his hands into his pockets he mirrored the other, leaning against the opposite railing.
He nodded as the other repeated his name, almost like he was tasting it.  The boy was a quiet one; so far he only stammered when spoken to, but seemed okay about following Kris round and letting him speak.  He wouldn't label himself a motormouth by any means, but with his current mood there was something calming about being able to talk to the younger one without really having a conversation.
When the boy said his name in return, Kris smiled at him lightly.  "Pleased to meet you Um Hongbin," he started, hoping that the other wouldn't mind his light teasing.  "Are you feeling any better too?"

{` he pulled a face as much to say 'that's pretty cool' when the information was divulged} America, cool.  My mum was raised in Canada, met my dad on a holiday here and never left.  She fits the part well though I spose.  {` tracing the pen across the pad he had brought along he made very messy notes on the types of ships that existed.  Sure he'd have to research more detailed information for the essay, but having these basics would save some precious time} Right, cos there's nothing scarier than a dragon head carved into a plank of wood to scare off people just as war hungry. {` he paused for a moment, trying to rack his brains} Nah, I guess that's about it.  Any particular style you're looking for in the essay?  Key points I should watch out for?
{` he nodded, and was somewhat wary about giving out personal information like that, but he’d already given some away. } I grew up in New York. My mother was Japanese, while my father was Korean.
{` deciding that was enough information, he continued to nod. } Oh yes. There was at least 3 others; the Snekkja, which were very long and thin - and very common. The Skeid, which were larger warships, and then finally the Karvi - it was rarely used in battle, and was mainly used in transporting.
{` he chuckled and nodded. } Yes, exactly. They chose the most fearsome beasts to decorate their ships to both ward off nasty spirits, and enemies, too.
{` smoothing his suite, he turned to face the young man in his office. } Was there… anything else I can help you with?

{` he nods along} Yeah... I did that in all the introduction to science stuff, but I didn't really understand it. {` he watched as she twirled her hair around her finger, wondering if it was natural for her or whether she was trying to flirt.  He supposed it may have been the former when she gave away her career} Yeah?  That's pretty cool.  Does it interfere with your school stuff much?  My parents are telling me I have to figure out what I'm going to do after I graduate, but I doubt they'd let me do anything like that.
{’ she shook her head as he asked her and a small giggle escaped her lips} Oh no, im not a very big fan of chemistry. {/she twirled a strand of her hair around her finger and smiled at him. trying to get past the awkwardness that was rising between the two of them,} Oh wow that sounds so cool! I write too actually haha. I would say the most artistic thing i do is pose for a camera.. {/a bright smle now took her lips as she flicked her hair behind her shoulder} im a model you see.

{` he raises his brows at this piece of information, unable to stop himself getting sidetracked with it} That'd make sense, with your name being Mr. Argent and all.  Where did you grow up? {` he wasn't sure whether that was crossing the boundaries of things to ask teachers, but he figured he'd already said it anyway}  Oh, so they had other ones too?  They'd be for like, commercial use or something yeah? {` he furrows his brow, he thought he'd heard it somewhere before} I swear I know the answer to this.  Isn't it to ward something, or something?
{` He couldn’t help but chuckle at the other’s sense of humour. } Yeah, I’ve heard. I didn’t really grow up here, but I’ve studied the culture. {` moving to his desk, he sits on the desk, his legs crossed as he delves into deep thought. } Possibly. I would imagine some people who cling to the past could still perform it.
{` he nods as the other gives a basic description. } The most well known Viking ship was known as a Drekkar. Those are the ships that you see on the TV. Long, and ornately decorated. { ` He smiled sly to himself. } You know, on the wood of the prow of the ship, there’s usually a carved mythical beast there? Do you know why they are like that?

He glanced down at her as they walked through the school.  It didn't take a genius to figure out that she didn't want to be here.  Then again, did anyone really want to be in school?  Except those people that really enjoyed learning all the subjects they had to do here.  Not that it was all that bad, he was pretty happy with his selections.
"If you're sure.  Good luck sneaking out if that's your plan.  It's easier to just not show up at all, have someone cover for you when they call the role," he informed, reaching up to rub the back of his neck.  "Not that I do that if I can help it, but sometimes my friends give me no choice.  Uh also, seeing as you don't seem to be the type for this place.  If you want, and I swear to god if you tell anyone this there'll be trouble, but for a small fee I can do some assignments for you."
"Well I could, but then again I’m not that keen on rush them making me have to go to class." She spoke bluntly matching her step with the taller male. Indeed that was the truth, she had from the start not volunteered to go to school, merely being forced under the threat of being removed permanently from the lists.
Though all of this, she assumed, was something the male next to her was unaware of. Well for the most perhaps she imagined not elaborating further in her mind on the subject. “No matter, you can just show me where the homeroom’s are, I’ll manage one way or another without knowing what class I am in.”
