Is anything real in this world now? He doesn't know. They'd begun when the two of them - Soukoku in this and every life - had met and before. Everything collapses around them, splintering, and Dazai watches the Agency- Odasaku appears for a brief moment, flickering in and out of view in the chair Dazai himself usually sits in. He's staring Dazai down, eyes narrow. Dazai looks away, from one redhead to another. Chuuya's looking around, clearly taking everything in; he looks almost normal. He almost looks like he fits in the ADA meeting room, like this isn't their world and it's- "So," he murmurs, turning to Dazai and obviously ignoring their gawking - and grinning, but that's just Kenji-kun - audience. "How do you want to do this?"

Unspoken adoration in their touches, the way red-and-black nails gripped onto Dazai's pale coat, the way he seemed to be complete- Akiko looks at Kunikida, and Kunikida looks back at her. They seem so dependent on each other, aching for stability, and she'd never realized that Dazai seemed to be a half of his whole. The pair in front of them shudder, falling into each other again.

"Chuuya."

"You're such a fucking idiot, you fish, don't you ever do that again- you hear me?"

"Chuuya shakes his head, dropping the mackerel in front of the ADA and banging on the door. "Excuse me, delivery!" The blond kid opens the door. Not the fish's new partner, but the cute one with the smile. "Who is it- oh, Mr. Fancy Hat! Come on in!" "You're cute, kid." Chuuya grins at him, dragging the mostly-unconcious bastard into the small office. It's a familiar scene, really, and anyone still around from four years ago in the Port Mafia remembers this kind of thing. He shakes off the memories, instead lifting Dazai with a hand. "Where's Blondie? Not you, Kenji-kun, but the... Ponytail. Notebook guy." He cocks his head. "Kunikida?" Yosano looks up at the intrusion. She nods at him. He nods back at her. "Hi, Chuuya." "Hello, Yosano-sensei." He dips his head in acknowledgment. "Where's Ponytail?" "Oh, he brought Dazai-san!" Kenji grins. Chuuya almost needs to squint at the sheer sunshine emanating from the teen. "Thank you so much, Chuuya-san!" "It... not a problem, kid." He says gruffly, dropping the fish on top of the messiest desk. "He's too stubborn to die like that, anyway." "No, seriously, Nakahara-san." Kunikida speaks up, approaching him. "Dazai is, surprisingly, an integral part of the Agency. We wouldn't be where we are without him." "His manipulative ass wouldn't leave you all behind, anyway," he grumbles. "He's very important; thank you for bringing him back." Yosano nods at him. "Dazai-san!" The weretiger comes hurrying out of the back room, stopping short when he sees Chuuya. "Oh, Chuuya-san! Did you- thank you for bringing him back! We're really very appreciative, Chuuya-san; we're not exactly best equipped to go on another rescue mission right now." "Boss' orders. He thinks that Dazai's still valuable to the Mafia." Chuuya tips his hat, turning to the door to hide his red face. The appreciation is... not unusual, but he definitely isn't used to being thanked for saving the fish bastard's life. "I was just here for the fish delivery."

Raziel bless this child. The only person Magnus Bane would ever consider listening to, out of everyone in the Institute, is absolutely No One. He dislikes Nephilim with a passion, and resents the New York Institute specifically, for being complicit in Maryse and Robert’s decimation of the New York chapter of the Downworld.(And, well, it doesn’t exactly help that Alec - the most unbiased person in the Institute - is only the Acting Head and, as such, has no true power over the Institute.)

"I'm already immortal, Detileas," you say, exasperated. Your bones ache. "The least you could do is mitigate it so I don't look like I'm eight-seven hundred years old."

“Demon, I wish for Eternal Youth,” you say. The demon pauses and looks at you. “I don’t recommend that one, Boss.”

You look at the company's boss, tired. It's been a long life. A janitor is a clean job, safe and hidden from your ghosts. "You can't fire me, sir. You don't have the rank nor the clearance to do so."

"I am the boss of this entire organization!" They bluster, growing red in the face. "And you're just the damn janitor!"

"Exactly, sir." You draw yourself up to your full height, unlatching your mop. It's been a long time, but it works just as well as the bladed staffs from your youth. "You have neither the rank nor the clearance to fire me."

"Who are you?"

The shadows swell as you smile wide. You have perhaps too many teeth to pass as human, and you know it, but you cannot and have never been able to bring yourself to care. "I simply clean up and take out the trash, sir." Your mop flashes out into a blade. "It's a shame to see what you have ended up; I remember your great-grandfather when he was on the throne."

"You knew-"

"Who did you think hired me?"

“You can’t fire me you don’t have the rank or clearance to do so.” “I am the boss of the entire organisation while you are just the janitor!” “Exactly neither the rank nor clearance to fire me.”
