gansey wanted the old ronan back (the care-free & open boy he first met) but ultimately decided that he doesn’t need that old version, he only needs the ronan he has. he just needs ronan. their friendship is the definition of growing together & loving unconditionally.

THIS
I thing in a trc tv show it would be so funny if whenever blue says something like “raven boys are so rich and posh” we get to see either Adam studying in the library, Ronan having tennis practice or Gansey having a rowing match and then later we find out that these are the dorks that will be Blue’s best friends

I just realized that Adam is the only one out of the Gangsey that isn’t inherently connected to Cabeswater and Glendower and the Ley Lines.
Gansey was resurrected by Noah on a ley line, which started him on the path to find Glendower. Ronan used the Ley Line to dream up Cabeswater. Blue’s father is a magical tree who was tied to Glendower.
Adam starts off as just a trailer park kid, wanting to escape his past and make his way in the world. He inserts himself into their narrative and makes himself part of Cabeswater.
Realizing Adam was bi and he knew it the whole time is infinitely funnier to me, as a bisexual, because I too would follow two hot guys on a bullshit adventure I don't believe in if it meant I got that kind of unstable, unhinged, unconditional love from them omfg.

also - has anyone ever noticed that the marauders mirror the gangsey almost perfectly???
you have the “leader”, richard gansey and James Potter: well-meaning, focused and caring, would do anything for their friends, the mom of the group, falls hard for a fiery, magical girl who’s from the opposite side of the tracks
then, the “best friend”, ronan lynch and sirius black: the edgy, emo, “bad boy” persona, with a soft heart and a complicated family, owes a lot of their self to richard and james, can appear harsh and violent, but would sacrifice themselves in a second for anyone they love. in love with adam/remus (wolf star is canon, fight me on this)
thirdly, the “soft smart one”, adam Parrish and remus lupin (also my absolute favorites and bi icons): brown hair and slightly beat up, used to fighting for themselves by themselves and has a sad past they’re running away from. meets the boys with slight baggage, yet is instantly accepted into their little circle. absolute genius and is usually polite and kind, but will fight anyone and is scarier than they seem (definition of looks like a cinnamon roll but will kill you). also in love with ronan/sirius.
finally, the “forgotten” one (I don’t know if I like this term, but it’s the only one I can think of), noah czerny and peter pettigrew: a little lost, a little tragic, had a key role to play in the fate of their friends (one good, one bad), a little left out of their friend group, but well meaning and kind (at least at first for Peter).

words cannot explain how much I fucking LOVE adam parrish so much!!! Never have I ever found a character that is so easy to relate to, that is so kind and generous and gentle, yet has serious, honest to god flaws that are understandable. Like, of course he has imposter syndrome, of course he has a hard time accepting favors, of course he wants to earn everything he does: he’s built everything for himself, from the ground up and he’s so short of love!

my favourite quotes from blue Lily, Lily blue
ah, what can I say? this book series will be the death of me. I have to admit - this might be one of my favourite books ever: it has everything from a blooming romance between friends, to a rich villain woman, to creepy underground caves (i.e. labyrinth in pjo) and a mystery with magical people.
also the opening scene in the cave? is absolute perfection!
“Ladies and gentlemen, my trick for you today will be to take this 1973 Camaro —
Removing the spare tire from the trunk, Gansey abandoned it beside a streetlight. The price of Malory’s visit.
— and fit five people, a dog, and a hell of a lot of luggage inside.”
because gansey is really fucking funny.
“How he despised them, how he wanted to be them. How pointless to summer in Maine, how much he wanted to do it. How affected he found their speech, how he coveted their lazy monotones. He couldn’t tell how all of these things could be equally true.”
because this is something that I can relate to 100% - I remember reading this and just... feeling it resonate with my soul. jealousy and hate often come hand in hand: you see something you want so badly yet you can't have, and you tend to despise the person yet would trade places with them in an instant.
“Blue was perfectly aware that it was possible to have a friendship that wasn’t all-encompassing, that wasn’t blinding, deafening, maddening, quickening. It was just that now that she’d had this kind, she didn’t want the other.”
because this is the friendship I want but will never have
“If I didn’t love her as much, then it wouldn’t feel so bad when she was gone! I could have some fallback parents, each containing a tiny piece of my affection so that when one goes away, I barely notice! Or maybe I should just not love anyone or anything! That makes it the easiest, really, because then I’ll never get let down! I will build a tower for my heart!"
because blue is the least developed out of the five of them (if someone wants to explain to me her character analysis I'd love it) and instances such has this show her!!
“He would never know how much of his place here was fairly earned and how much had been bequeathed with his gilded pedigree. It used to bother him, a little.
Now it bothered him a lot.”
because gansey character development. this is how you show entitlement and privilege and realizing it and being aware and gracious about it.
“ who is this person, is he still your friend, what did he give to Cabeswater, what does he become, why does terror grow so much better away from the sun ”
because no matter how much trc is about character - its all about magic, and look at how Maggie represents magic as magical (I know this is just a double entendre, but most magical books show magic as something controlled, like a tool. Maggie shows it as raw, unbridled fucking magic).
“A lot,” Ronan translated, and he was right, because, strangely enough, Ronan knew a great deal about how Adam worked. It was possible Adam had always been aware of this but had preferred to consider himself — particularly the more unsightly parts of himself — impenetrable.”
because remember what I said about blooming romance? fight me on this - best friends to lovers is the best trope.
“Gansey thought of how strange it was to know these two young men so well and yet to not know them at all. Both so much more difficult and so much better than when he’d first met them. Was that what life did to them all? Chiseled them into harder, truer versions of themselves?
“I told you,” Ronan said. “Magician.”
because these three boys and their friendship
“For so long, he’d wanted Gansey to see him as an equal, but it was possible that all this time, the only person who needed to see that was Adam.
Now he could see that it wasn’t charity Gansey was offering. It was just truth.
And something else: friendship of the unshakable kind. Friendship you could swear on. That could be busted nearly to breaking and come back stronger than before.
Adam held out his right hand, and Gansey clasped it in a handshake, like they were men, because they were men.”
because FUCKING HELL this is one of the best moments of trc, Adam finally finally finally giving up on his pride and accepting himself and help from his friends
“It happened to other people, other families, in other places. It happened in hospitals or automobile crashes or battle zones. It happened — now she remembered Gansey’s words outside Gwenllian’s tomb — with ceremony. With some announcement of itself.”
because this is the perfect description of grief and denial and shock
“Gansey’s eyebrows drew together as he surveyed the herds and flocks, Gwenllian and the streaming light, his friends frozen in an invisible battle.
Adam could not stop seeing his fallible king, hanging in the pit of the ravens.
Gansey touched his lower lip very gently. He lowered his hand, and he said, “Wake up.”
He said it like he had said stop earlier. He said it in a voice Adam had heard countless times, a voice he could never not listen to.”
because look at the power of gansey's words
“She didn’t bother to say, But you’ll be waiting in darkness. Nor did she say, If I vanish immediately into the lake, you’ll have to find your way out of here sightless. Because he’d already known both these things when he’d given it to her.
Instead she said, “You know, you’re not such a shithead.”
“No,” Ronan replied, “really I am.”
because Ronan and blue are best friends, too
btw all these quotes are from the highlights in the books I made as I read (and re-read) them.

moon knight finale spoilers
okay I loved the moon knight finale - but I'm kind of confused... what was the meaning of the Putnam asylum scenes with dr. harrow??? Because there were such sudden cuts between those scenes and reality (and especially in episode 5, they were basically seamless transitions from marc/Steven talking to dr. harrow, and walking through tawaret's ship), I still don't get how it links into reality.
can anyone just give me theories/explanations?

Me tooo!! I feel like Maggie is so subtle w her descriptions that you FEEL what the character is feeling without being told it
i really love & admire the writing style of the raven cycle. we’re basically never told outright what a character is thinking or feeling, but we’re given so much information in the subtle gestures and symbolism sprinkled throughout the story that we can piece it together and it all serves to make everything so much more REAL. the writing is so incredible, and i’ll never stopped being awestruck by it

bridgerton season 1
So, season 1 of bridgerton. Not a lot to say that hasn’t already been said. The plot is very dumb, especially Daphne and Simon.
Daphne and Simon:
Their entire relationship consists of them just being physically attracted to each other, with zero communication and just… too much drama for dramas sake
Daphne is ducking annoying
Simon isn’t as bad, but he also isn’t a great character
There’s absolutely no character development for either of them, they just change their minds in seconds and the plot will change with it
They have no chemistry
Simon doesn’t want kids. Daphne wants kids. They fake date, then fall in love, then pretend they're not in love so both of them think they’re just forcing each other to marry them when they literally kissed a few days ago? Then Daphne is okay with Simon not being able to have kids, but not that he doesn’t want kids? It’s the same situation? And the show paints him as the one in the wrong? And Simon is literally just so… bland. He had no personality, except daddy issues. And the reason he chose not to have kids is so fucking stupid but Daphne should’ve respected it. There literally wouldn’t have been any issues if they just TALKED TO EACH OTHER.
Daphne and Simon just SOLVE their plot without any character progression, Simons just like… okay I’ll have a child.
Why is their entire plot just instant “falling in love” then miscommunication and fighting
I ALSO CANNOT WATCH BIRTHS AND PREGNANCIES, THEY’RE TERRIFYING
Aside from them, there’s just so much that’s concerning about the show
Dismissal of larger issues:
They don’t address the blatant misogyny and classism that’s shown throughout
The entire point of the show is for women to attract men???
AND AGAIN, the misogyny and the classism? There’s no further analysis or nuance on how the servants are treated, or how people from the high class cannot be with the lower class people - I think I’ve read too many books about revolutions and leftist risings that I can’t watch something about the upper class without at least one aspect of it being critiqued
It’s literally being framed as normal and perfect, when daphnes freaking out about her dress and I’m sure someone is starving to death a few miles outside of their gigantic house
It’s meant to be an escapist fantasy, but instead the life just seems so fucking useless and pointless and dull
I only liked a few characters:
The only person who I actually liked was Eloise and maybe Colin
I only liked Eloise, actually
Actually I liked Penelope too, and her and Eloise’s friendship.
Anthony:
The plot with Anthony and Sienna made no sense either: it was literally just them going through a cycle of sleeping together and then Sienna saying she can’t be part of his world, again and again. There’s no progression.
Anthony is also a ducking controlling asshole
Why does he almost kill Simon twice, and then also get into a fistfight with simon and no one says anything about it?
Random side comments:
What was with the boxing side plot???
But the featheringtons side plot is also kind of dumb - they mistreat marina so much, and they run out of money, then the father dies. That’s it.
They tried to make the bridgertons seem like some tight knit family that loves each other - but all they do is argue and fight.
Marina was literally taken from her home and sent to the featheringtons, then locked in a room for weeks and no one batted an eye????
It’s not even that entertaining, but it's definitely visually pleasing. The shots or cinematography aren’t mind-blowing, but the aesthetic is pretty. The editing is kind of odd, though, like the scenes just… happen. It’s a normal TV show, there’s nothing creative going on. The narrative (with Lady Whistledown) isn’t particularly unique either, and it’s just there.

As someone who started reading percy Jackson at 9 years old, I’m having too many thoughts about this book series a decade later.
I think firstly, it’s the book that got me into this life - into fandoms and shit. So I owe so much of who I am to Percy Jackson. And I really don’t want them to mess it up - I want people to know how amazing percy is and how this series is the best piece of fiction to ever grace the earth.
The problem is, at the same time, I’m so fiercely protective of it - pjo is basically my child - that I’m having gatekeeping feelings. Like,,, I don’t want these young kids to be watching pjo the Disney plus series and only see it as a tv show without having read the books. I don’t want them to add new show canon that will be canon for the new generation of pjo fans.
So yeah, conflicting thoughts, I don’t know what to feel. Obviously I’m sososoo excited to see walker scobell as percy and whoever they cast as annabeth and Grover and luke - but part of me needs this show to be for those of us who’ve already read the books, and not for it to be a new introduction into the pjo world for outsiders. Which is dumb. But that’s how I feel.
