Rani stopped running for just a moment, looking at the stranger with a furrowed brow. “Ehm... yes, I’m fine. Clyde, Sarah Jane, wait for me!” She shouted to her friend who was already running ahead with an older woman. “Look, I’d love to exchange pleasantries and be all ‘I’m sorry for almost bumping into you’ but I really don’t have time right now.”

England. Sam’s home country. He couldn’t help but smile as he walked through the streets. He’d been able to get time away from camp to visit his father, for the week of father’s day, but, he was about to start travelling back to Camp Half-Blood by plane in a few hours.
He hummed something softly, walking down a path. It seemed that he, like usual, wasn’t quite looking where he was going, and had to swerve to avoid bumping into another teenager. “Whoah! Uh, sorry, you alright?”

“There’s something wrong with Howie, he didn’t recognize me, he didn’t recognise Clyde, he didn’t recognize Luke and he couldn’t answer any question asked to him during any of his classes and that while his knowledge in some subjects rivals Luke’s.” Rani spoke to the supercomputer.
She looked back at her mate. “It’s an alien supercomputer, we’ve been through this before. Don’t you remember?”
“Mr Smith, I want you to do a full scan of Howie, look if you can find anything out of the ordinary.”

“Howie, I need to find out what’s going on! You don’t recognize me, you don’t recognize Luke or Clyde, you don’t recognize Sarah Jane’s place! You couldn’t get by in physics, whatever’s happened to you, it’s not good.” She said, pulling him into the attic.
”Mr Smith, I need you!”
Howie didn’t really argue – how could he? She was right! If he didn’t recognise his classmates, the something wasn’t right, and he was apparently supposed to recognise this place, which he obviously didn’t. It was when they reached the attic, though, that the weirdness reached a whole new level. That computer – the… the supercomputer straight from a sci-fi film! – that just about finished him off.
He stumbled back, eyes wide in shock. “That… that… that is… ho-ho-holy…”
Hello, Rani, Mr Smith greeted the two. And Howard – is something the matter? You seem shocked.

“LOOK, fine. I understand that you guys know what you’re doing, I understand that you get paid to do this, that you have a duty to make sure no one gets harmed. And I’m completely aware that delegating the responsibility of dealing with the Sea Devils to UNIT is the best course of action,”
Rani sighed deeply before looking back up at Kate, a mischievous glint in her eye as she explained the true reason why she desperately wanted to come along.
“but this has been the most exciting thing to happen since weeks! I want see it, I want to interact with the Sea Devils, see what they’re like, complete our own archive... The Sea Devils are an INTEGRAL part of the Alien Files, just in case a future generation of Bannerman Roaders needs to deal with these creatures.”

“Yeah, you did that with the help of the Doctor, and last time I checked he’s not around right now. We did it with the help of Sarah Jane, and don’t get me wrong, but I think that three school children and an elderly woman saving the world after school more often than you can imagine is slightly more impressive than a massive military organization with guns and a highly intelligent Time Lord on their payroll ”
RANI SCOFFED, in a way ridiculing UNIT and Kate Stewart herself. There were many more instances that the Bannerman Road Gang managed to do more than UNIT could ever dream off, they had hacked into their archives for god’s sake! It was that Alan was otherwise occupied at this very moment… Kate Steward made the mistake of underestimating Rani Chandra, Clyde Langer and Luke Smith, and she wasn’t going to let it go easily.
❝ WE DIDN’T with the Nestene, nor with the Tengobushi, the Silence, Graske … all on a very minimal government budget with red tape and limited resources. My JOB is not an easy one. And having a Timelord on the payroll can be as much a help as a hindrance. After all, didn’t he help you at Sarah-Jane’s wedding ? ❞
Kate would most certainly not be ridiculed by a teenager. YES, she had to admit that Rani Chandra was an impressive young woman, and in no way did she underestimate the Bannerman Road Gang, rather than admire them, but UNIT was there for a REASON, Kate Stewart had her job for a reason, and it was because this is what she dealt with, and was good at dealing with. Rani might have some experiance, but Kate had a duty. She had a calling. She had an obligation not to get people hurt. The FIRE was easy to weild, let Rani hate her or think less of her. It means she was doing her job, and protecting people.

“Yes, seriously... it was the absolute best adventure I’ve ever had with Sarah Jane... but it wasn’t the strangest. So, Clyde and I woke up one morning and we were alone on the planet, just us two and a little kid and two robots who wanted the sun and air. We were trying to destroy these robots but it turns out... they were looking for the little kid, the son and heir to an alien throne and everyone else got beamed from earth... except Clyde and me because we have planetarrest for the rest of our lives. Anyway, I’m now part of the aristocracy of that planet. Lady Rani Chandra.”

“In simple terms; a kid went missing due to an evil clown, and then I started seeing it… We met each other in this clown museum when a man named Mr Spellman, better known as the Pied Piper or Odd Bob wanted to feed on Sarah Jane’s fear for clowns. I came along with her once we got free and I basically chose to get wrapped up in her world… it was bizarre to say the least.”

Clyde and Luke jumped out of the car, quickly joining the back of the queue before anyone else could jump before them. “I told you, we should’ve been camping out here at midnight! Look where we are!” Clyde complained, still within ear shot of Sarah Jane and Rani.
“Have fun boys!” Rani exclaimed, rolling her eyes at Clyde’s geekiness... and he had the guts for calling her a nerd sometimes because she enjoyed studying...
“So, Pharos Institute, what they’re doing now? More levitation with the mind?”

“What’s so special about this video game anyway that you absolutely need to have it?” Rani inquired as Clyde chatted excitedly with Luke about the release of this super awesome video game that they had to have and had to play today, not tomorrow, today, on release day when all the geeks came out in costume or not to geek out about the video game.
“Rani, Rani, Rani, this isn’t just a video game. This is Undiscovered 4, A Bandit’s End! The very last game in the Undiscovered franchise and according to the critics, it is the BEST game ever!” Clyde said, high fiving Luke who was sat in the front seat next to Sarah Jane.
“Clyde’s right, it is going to be an amazing game, the graphics looked amazing and I can only imagine how many new game engines must’ve been made to create something like this.”
Rani shrugged, rather them than her, today she was the one who got to shadow Sarah Jane while she was chasing a story.
“Well, Sarah Jane and I are going to enjoy a girl’s day out while you two are in line for Undiscovered 4, aren’t we?” She asked Sarah Jane with a wide grin.
