"Kind of like that but not really" is such a nothing statement, good lord.

The optimistic interpretation is that the part that is "different" is the part where Amidatelion can't freely swap bodies, since we know this differs from Reeve who can swap control between Cait Sith models with relative ease. Meaning that the part that is "sort of" like Cait is the part where Amidatelion's soul/being is housed within what would otherwise be an inanimate object.

Cait Sith's characterization in DFFOO is so revealing.

He's depicted as a warm and outgoing lil' dude who will happily make friends with anyone...

...Who is constantly going out of his way to cheer up others...

...And who will patiently listen to the entirety of Trey's history lesson.

(I cannot emphasize enough that Cait Sith is being framed here alongside Vivi as an example of a character nice enough to listen to the whole thing.)

... But then Cait Sith also forms a partnership with the obviously suspect Vayne.

When Penelo tells him that Vayne is responsible for the destruction of her home, Cait lies to her and Krile's faces that he's ended said partnership (when in actuality Cait is secretly carrying a communication device which Vayne is listening to).

Then only when it becomes clear Vayne's goals aren't beneficial to him does Cait Sith actually break off the arrangement.

...Meanwhile Vincent and Cloud are just like, "Nah we trust him 100% just let him cook."

Like, his teammates absolutely know to expect him to do some skeevy-ass shit, but they trust he'll do it for a good reason.

Shield of Tomorrow episodes 40 & 41 (This is a crossover with the group's Star Trek campaign, but it does continue the Eric's TBD RPG story. Taliesin appears at the very end of episode 40.)

Eric's TBD RPG Holiday Special

The entire show can be watched either on Twitch (subscription required) or on Youtube (for free).

I would recommend for anyone interested that they start at the first episode, even though I initially started with episode 12 myself, because I ended up rewatching the whole thing from the beginning anyway. The story and players really are all wonderful.
