🙄 great he’s seeing his father but why do we need to know this, it’s a personal visit. How is this pertinent to the King’s diagnosis.

To be fair, I’d want Anne in charge of my personal safety too 🥊 👀
Princess Anne has been handed a starring role by the King for his coronation in honour of her years of unwavering loyalty.
The Princess Royal will feature in the procession as the prestigious “Gold-Stick-in-Waiting”, a position historically handed to a person entrusted with the personal safety of the sovereign.
As a “personal aide-de-camp” to His Majesty, Anne will travel on horseback behind the new King and Queen after they are crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6.
As Charles and Camilla ride in the Gold State Coach back to Buckingham Palace, Anne will lead the larger procession featuring 6,000 armed services personnel.
The privilege dates back to the 15th century in Tudor times, when two officers - a Gold Stick and a Silver Stick, were placed close to the sovereign to protect him or her from danger.

I usually stay quiet on the Sussex dramas but as a person who works in property I have to say I don’t get the big deal with Frogmore Cottage…
It’s a property owned by the Crown Estate, a commercially facing property entity owned by the nation, which was leased to a couple who were tenants. Those tenants paid for renovation works knowing full well they would never own it - something often done by wealthy individuals.
The tenancy has come to an end and the Landlord (The Crown Estate) has provided the required notice stating that they do not intend to offer a renewal of the lease.
Ignoring the fact that it has sat empty for like 95% of the time they’ve leased it, this is all very common and standard practice in property management, regardless of who will occupy it next.
It’s not their main residence, they are not being made homeless, and for like the five days a year they come to the UK they can stay with their family they claim to love so much and benefit from their royal protection at the same time (so even safer for them as a family).
Seems like a no brainer and will save the Sussex’s the rent they pay. A very first world problem to complain about losing a standby mansion when you already live in a mansion and can stay in various other mansions rent free when you do come back..

Never noticed how much they resemble each other before but you can see it a bit in this photo..
New to me. With Princess Marina from The Duke of Kent's new book. Philip seems to be smoking. A habit he gave up upon marriage by Elizabeth's request.

The Duke of Edinburgh served as President of The Royal Mint Advisory Committee (RMAC) from 1952 to 1999. Former RMAC Secretary Graham Dyer recounts his memories of this time:
“For their part, members of the Committee were too distinguished to be overly deferential and if, as happened occasionally, he found himself in the minority then he cheerfully gave way. Only once do I remember him pulling rank. This was when a proposal came before the Committee for a crown piece to commemorate the 40th anniversary in 1987 of his marriage to The Queen. Designs had already been obtained from artists but it was immediately obvious that Prince Philip hated the idea. He complained that the Mint evidently did not think he and The Queen would reach their golden wedding anniversary and members were happy to join him in dismissing the idea with good-natured scorn.”
“When in the early days the Committee still looked at coins for Commonwealth countries, his knowledge and experience of local customs, of local fauna and flora, proved invaluable. But it was with medals that he really came into his own. No one on the Committee could match his knowledge of medals, decorations and regimental badges and in this respect he could bear comparison with the renowned ability of his father-in-law George VI.”

Firstly, I hope Meghan and Harry are ok and it’s incredibly brave to talk about it like this.
However, I also hope that people remember that this is their way of grieving and processing their loss. Some people will be having a really difficult day today hearing this. Others who have experienced this may choose a different way of dealing with their loss, regardless of how long ago it was, and may have a hard time hearing this on constant repeat in the news, social media and in magazines. Not to mention all of the comments and discussions about it in work, at home and elsewhere.
Just driving in the car, news readers broadcasting excerpts of the articles will hit hard. For everyone who experiences this it is incredibly personal. Some people will choose not to share the intimate details and process this another way and that is their right, as it is Meghan and Harry’s right to share this. But please remember that the moral of the article is kindness and for a lot of people this will likely bring home one of the worst moments they have experienced and they will be reliving this pain to varying extents.
My heart breaks for Meghan and Harry and I wish them the best. My heart also breaks for those who woke up this morning to start their day and will be feeling like they’ve been hit by a bus by hearing this. Please be kind and considerate of how people choose to grieve.
