Gavin loosely grabbed the mans wrist and tilted his head to the side, "but you're safer here...with me," his grip tightened slightly to emphasize his point. He didn't want Alex to leave so soon, he didn't have to and Gavin knew he wasn't busy– not that he'd been stalking his schedules or anything.
"You can stay here," he says, a slight change in his tone from light to greying, "Please stay? I don't want to think of what could happen if you just left," his tone was slowly spiraling, a crawl into the decent of darkness. Though his words seemed to say that he was worried for Alex's safety, he was more concerned about what he'd do to himself if he just let Alex leave. He couldn't have him leaving like this, no, he wouldn't.
"Stay," it was a command this time, a desperate attempt to convince Alex to stay here—where Gavin could protect him, keep him safe and to himself...He was Gavin's, it hurt that the other didn't see this. Why couldn't he see how much Gavin cared for him? How much Gavin loved him? That he was willing to do anything for him? That he was willing to kill for him— to keep him.

Though not the answer Gavin was expecting, it did well to mostly pacify the anxiety clawing to be let loose in his chest; he liked Jayson because he helped protect Alex, but he wouldn't hesitate to remove him if he had to— unless Alex opposed of course. But that diminish the fact that Gavin saw Jayson as a better man, morally and otherwise.
He gave a nod and a small sigh of an answer, 'but you're a murderer' repeating in his head as a constant reminder of why he shouldn't have Alex in the first place. "I understand," he says, trying to get thoughts through without feelings ruining them, "I'm just not...confident enough in myself I suppose. I worry I'm either too much or not enough...I'd hate to be either for you, you're one of the few people I trust–" maybe too much. "–and you're the only person who's accepted me for what I don't have. It scares me...the thought of losing you."
He looked down, his thoughts muddled with a mixture of his love, desire, admiration, and likewise for Alex and his feelings of inadiquacy, disdain, and hatred towards himself. He could feel something building up inside him but he didn't know what, it felt like...pain but it wasn't physical, it felt like someone had carved a hole in his chest and was leaving his heart exposed for— oh. He glanced up to meet Alex's gaze, worry and fear written in his eyes as tears began to well up inside them.
"You won't... you won't leave me... right?"

Literally all Alex had been doing was talking to Jayson, so the question really caught him off guard. Especially since this was after work and like.. hours after. He gave Gavin a confused look, his eyebrows furrowed with a slight tilt of his head.
“Wh.. what? What are you talking about?” And then the worry set in. Did he think he somehow didn’t like him as much as he did Jayson? “Gavin, I like you for how you are now, you know that. Actually, I think it would scare me if you were more like Jay, I just can’t see you being as stoic as him.” He considered giving him a reassuring pat, but didn’t want to make him more upset by overstepping some kind of boundary.
“I like both of y’all equally, because you’re different and have different values,” he finally added, trying to make his voice stronger than it had been before. Gavin scared him, sure, but not enough to make him constantly cower under his dumbass questions.
