Can you imagine Veneer going "I did this..." in reference to Floyd's condition and declawing? After all, it is Veneer's fault Floyd got declawed and lost his spleen, and partially Veneer's fault Floyd is partially crystallized and everything.

Oooh dude he totally blames himself!! Especially after Bruce came to them about it! He'd spent a lot of time after Band Together being like "well, at least I'm not that bad. I'm a good person! I didn't do much directly, so..." Which is... blatantly untrue. He's always felt terrible, but has protected himself from fully taking the blame by subconsciously ignoring his actual impact.

But he's really started losing that false confidence the more he's had time to think about it and hear about the impacts he's truly had on Floyd. See the pain he's directly caused with newer eyes.

So... as time has gone on, he's had a lot of emotional and phsyical reactions to it. Overwhelming guilt that gets worse and worse until you're hurling, y'know. Now, he directly blames himself for everything. And I think it's justified- he could've stopped it all. And he knows this. He acted often out of selfishness. Even if he didn't directly do something terrible, he let it happen. And the consequences are catastrophic for those he's hurt.

Veneer is working SO hard to become better; to never hurt anyone like that again, to fully admit where he's wrong, to face it all and come out better. Actively seeking help and resources that he can in prison. But... I don't know if anything would get rid of that guilt permanently. And I don't think he wants to get rid of it, at all, anymore.

I can just imagine your Veneer tearing up and going like,

"You think I don't want to apologize to Floyd?! It's not like I don't want to, I just can't tell him to his face that I'm sorry without giving him more nightmares! I want to make peace with him! I really do, but I CAN'T!!! He'll only get hurt by just seeing me!!"

How would Floyd react upon hearing about how Veneer wants to apologize and make peace?

He has been struggling with that EXACT inner dialogue for a long time... Not being able to apologise eats him up inside, so badly. But then he also struggles with the guilt of that desperation to apologise despite knowing it's best that he doesn't, feeling selfish about it.

But!! Good news YAYYYY, yesterday, Veneer sent Floyd a message. Will talk abt it under here so it doesn't take up too much space!!

After everything Velvet did, Ven felt like it wasn't fair to leave him completely alone thinking he was just letting it happen. He checked to see if Floyd was okay with them communicating, that he could walk away from the conversation if it was too much.

Floyd felt... weird. He's currently going through a million different things... different health problems, emotions etc. I think it fucked him up a little to try and push through that conversation. Really needed his brothers around during this whole thing, and even if he wanted to hear it, that kinda trauma and having to face it head on really affected him physically in the moment, if not emotionally. (During this conversation, Floyd is suffering with his leg crystallizing. He tells Veneer this. I think it gets worse after the conversation is over partly or mostly because of the discussion - after all, it started crystallizing in the first place after Velvet started tormenting him again. This might not be true!! I don't write Floyd, so it could be coincidental)

Veneer apologised for Vel's behaviour, that he wasn't there for Floyd and hasn't ever been. That he goes over everything he did often. He didn't apologise for the declawing specifically, but hoped Floyd knows he thinks about and heavily regrets every single thing he did including that.

And Floyd managed to be direct!! (🎉🎉🎉) About how he feels, not just being like "it's okay" and putting someone who viciously hurt him's feelings completely over his own. It was a mutual discussion, both were very open about their feelings.

Howeverrrrr it ended with Floyd saying how much pain he was in. That it was spreading and burns. Veneer is left FREAKING out thinking abt the very real possibility that Floyd could be dying again due to crystallisation, and there comes an incredible panic, guilt and sickness that wrecks him from that.

Does Veneer talk to Bruce about the scratching incident, Floyd's declawing, how awful Veneer feels about the whole thing, and how he didn't realize Floyd was declawed until it was too late?

Also, does Floyd get closure from Veneer?

funnily enough, we literally just RPed Bruce confronting Veneer (and Velvet) about it in prison!!

And by "make peace" I mean, Floyd putting his animosity behind him while making it clear to Veneer he wants nothing to do with him and Veneer accepting that.

Also, why does Bruce visit Velvet and Veneer?

hi so!! Bruce visits Vel and Ven because he sympathises with them- especially Veneer, having already been a 'Veneer household'. I think he sees potential in them and wants them to have a positive influence and friend. Velvet's actually started warming up to him YAYY (but not much... she's just accepting gifts he brings, actually addressing that he's there compared to her being completely alone in prison and ignoring everyone but Veneer)

Floyd and Veneer didn't talk before parting ways- Veneer had planned to visit the trolls while he was on parole with a gift basket for them, but Floyd freaked out at the concept. So, instead, Veneer visited Vacay Island and worked for Bruce and Brandy.

While Ven was at the island, Floyd was having major nightmares about the concept... picturing Bruce getting hurt, captured etc. It was really harming and scaring him. he eventually managed to talk about this with his brothers, and Bruce decided to talk to Veneer directly about it: that he couldn't stay at the island or around Brozone, and why.

So Veneer does indirectly get all this communication that Floyd can't personally tell him himself. Ven understands, and is still really upset about the concept, but overall wants to do whatever helps Floyd find peace, even if that means severing all connections.

I think Veneer desperately wants to apologise to Floyd, especially now he's been forced to reflect on the declawing situation and all that time he's spent improving himself, but doesn't think it's the right decision to reach out to Floyd anymore, in fear of causing him more distress (which makes what Velvet does in a recent RP a lot worse for Veneer in the faith he holds in his sister. I think Via is gnna clarify on this in the last ask!! )

He'd been showing he's sorry in signs of improvement and gifts up until his parole, but really does regret not giving an apology directly

Can you imagine Veneer apologizing to Floyd for him getting declawed? If I were in Veneer's position I most certainly would, and I wouldn't blame Floyd for scratching me up or being bitter over losing his claws.

yes!!! 100% >:o) he still feels sickly terrible about it to this day... besides the draining his life, it's the incident he feels the worst about </3
