Shes more lyrically focused than other insanely popular pop stars so shes seen as a songwriting genius despite the fact that it is still bubblegum pop. When she did “folk” it was folk for people who only listen to pop music. Her “feminism” is feminism that wont really scare people or make them uncomfortable, that even then is only “vocal” for white women. Shes never going to make music that is imaginative or bold because then she’d lose some of her audience. Shes never going to make meaningful political or social statements because then she’d lose some of her audience. Her popularity in a way isn’t surprising at all because you cant get as huge a following of fans if your music is more specific or unique or abrasive. But taylors music is more to appeal to the largest number of people possible. Shes a musical centrist
