Post+ is going away in January 2024.
We introduced Post+ as a way for creators to offer exclusive content to their followers in exchange for a subscription fee. We heard your feedback, and after much consideration, we have decided to remove the Post+ feature from Tumblr.
As of December 1, 2023, you will no longer be able to enable Post+ on your blogs.
In early 2024, we will remove the ability to create or access subscriber-only content. Existing subscriber-only posts will become private posts.
Why are you removing Post+?
We can no longer justify the costs required to maintain and operate Post+ based on current usage.
What will happen to my subscriber-only posts?
Right now, nothing. In January 2024, any subscriber-only posts on your blogs will become private. You can choose to keep them private, switch them to public, or delete them.
As a Post+ subscriber, do I need to do anything?
Subscribers will no longer be billed starting January 2024. If you subscribed using In-App Purchase from an iOS device, you'll need to cancel your subscription manually to avoid being charged.
Will I still have access to content I'm subscribed to via Post+?
You'll continue to be able to view Post+ content until January 2024, when subscriber-only content will be marked as private. Then, it will be up to the creator to determine whether they want to make those posts public.
Can creators still make money on Tumblr?
Yes! Tipping will remain available to everyone. You can enable Tipping in your Blog Settings on web (Account Settings on mobile). Once enabled, any original post can receive a Tip (you can disable Tipping on posts you don't want folks to be able to Tip), with the money going directly to the creator.
Learn more about Tipping on Tumblr ->
If you have questions, please get in touch with Support, and we’ll send you some answers. And, if you’d like to support Tumblr directly, the Supporter badge is a great way to do that!

Getting Started with Post+
So you heard that we’ve opened up Post+ beta to US blog owners and creators (with the rest of the planet to follow soon), and maybe you’re wondering what that might look like for you. Here are 5 easy steps you can take to get from your current state of Post+lessness to your best Post+ self. It’s basically the same as our “Get Started” page, but here, now, in post-form, before your very eyes:
On desktop, navigate to the account menu by clicking the snowman in the top right and selecting “Post+” from the drop-down menu.
Set up your Post+ creator profile in minutes: Write a short introduction to your blog, set your +post prices and perks, and add your payment details.
Click “Activate Post+,” and you’re all set!
Now, you can turn any post you create into a +post: Draft a teaser that is viewable to everyone and tuck away any bonus content for your supporters below the fold. You can also transform old posts from your archives into +posts by clicking edit and toggling from “Anyone” to “Supporters Only,” just as you would on a new post, before filling in the teaser.
Your post will always be public on the Tumblr dashboard, but only your supporters will be able to access what’s below the fold.
That’s all for now. If you have questions or feedback for us, you have a couple of options. Either head over to our FAQ, with its quick and easy support button for sharing feedback and asking questions. Or come talk to us via our Ask box over on @wip (open weekly on Mondays, 9 a.m. to 6 a.m. Eastern).

It's for Tumblr (you). It's from Tumblr (us). It's Post+.
Imagine this. You continue to share your work with your community of followers. But there are followers and f o l l o w e r s, right? You’ve known some of them for years. They’ve been with you through several seasons/rebrands/iterations of your blog (and your ~self~). Hell, they even know your real name!
Well, we’re excited to tell you that if you’re in the US, you can now offer those fans a little more. Diehard fans and new audiences across the globe can support your supreme creations for as little as $1.99—right from the comfort of their dash. This means more jokes, more marine biology memes, more sporadic sticker stock updates. Mash up all the media in one place with flexible and easy-to-use tools—image, music, text? Our editor has ‘em all. And there’s no minimum follower count or posting quotas to meet—if you make stuff people like, you’re in. TL;DR: We’re opening up Post+ beta to blog owners in the US today (and to the rest of the planet soon. Promise!).
Now, your unique GIF-illustration-poem-shitposts are earning you actual $$$. You start working that coffee shop job a little less. You design more bonsai tree stickers. Your fans love it. You love it. Imagine it.
For fans: Wherever you are in the world, support your favorite US creators on Tumblr from the comfort of, well, Tumblr. That’s right, get your favorite content first. Or more of it. Or simply a little somethin’ more deeply tailored to your tastes.
For improvements: Post+ is still in beta, which means it’s still evolving to suit your needs. Some improvements we’ve made based on your feedback:
Additional price points —> 1.99, 3.99, 5.99, 9.99 USD
Content from your archives can become +posts.
Easier blocking without contacting support.
No more Post+ avatar badges.
We love hearing from you, and the best way for us to know what you want is for you to tell us about it, so please keep telling us ^-^ Over on WIP. Or via a support ticket. And come check out these FAQs, or find out How to Get Started.
It’s all yours, always. Take it away, Tumblr.

Hey 👋
We’re here to answer the additional questions you have. If you don’t find what you need, you can always follow along in our Help Center.
Q: Who handles Post+ payments? Does Tumblr retain my credit card information?
A: Tumblr does not store your credit card information. For web and Android transactions, we’ve partnered with Stripe, a widely used payment processor certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry.
Transactions from the iOS app are handled via Apple’s in-app purchase feature.
Q: If you draw fan art or write fanfiction, monetizing your work will forfeit your fair use protection.
A: We fully support creators sharing their fanfiction and fan art on Tumblr. We encourage sharing creative work of all kinds on the platform.
Fanfiction and fan art are frequently considered fair use, and we support our creators’ fair use rights. Monetizing fan work does not necessarily mean that it isn’t fair use.
Any content posted on Tumblr, both free and monetized, should follow our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, which prohibit infringing the intellectual property rights of others. Whether a piece of fanfiction meets the requirements for fair use depends on the work. Intellectual property rights holders are in the best position to decide whether fanfiction or fan art violates their rights. If they do, they can use the normal Tumblr DMCA process to identify content for removal. Creators can also take advantage of the normal counter-notification process if they believe the content was misidentified as infringing.
Q: Can you block people who support your blog through Post+?
A: Post+ creators will be able to block subscribers in the final Post+ product launching later this fall, based on your beta feedback. At the moment, testers of the Post+ beta will need help from Tumblr Support to block the blog of a paying supporter.
Q: Who can set up a Post+ subscription plan?
A: We’re beta testing the product with a small number of creators during the initial launch. We’ll keep you updated here, in our Help Center, on our Staff blog, and on the Changes blog as Post+ becomes available to more creators.
Q: What kind of content can I find on a Post+ blog?
A: Creators can share any type of content that can be posted to Tumblr.
Q: Can I use my current blog, or do I need to create a new blog?
A: You can do either. That said, using an existing blog will promote your +post content (above the teaser line) to your followers who already like what you post and who might want to become supporters. Also, remember that you can only enable Post+ for one blog on your account.
Q: How much of the money that a supporter pays do I receive as the creator? Are there any fees?
A: Tumblr’s fee is 5% of the total purchase price, so how much you earn will depend on the price point you set for your +posts. Additional fees are set by our payment processors. For a full breakdown, check out this article.
Q: How will I get paid?
A: Our payment processor will deposit payments directly into your bank account. More information can be found in our Creator Hub.

Post+ is coming soon
What’s Post+?
Oh, thank you for asking this totally unprompted question! Tumblr Post+ is our new tool that allows creators to cater additional content on their posts to an audience of paying supporters. It’s an optional way to support and encourage your favorite creators on Tumblr. And it’s all done in the existing post form, with the tools you already know and love.
Why Post+?
Creators are the backbone of Tumblr—whether they’re GIF artists, illustrators, comedians, cosplayers, or just effervescent shitposters. We have believed in empowering the world’s creators to show off their best work from the very beginning. Post+ now gives those creators the ability to earn money from their work.
Post+ is optional, right?
Right! Post+ simply gives creators the freedom to pick and choose which content they want to share publicly and which content they especially want to share with their paid supporters. Post+ is a completely optional program. Creators decide whether to participate, choose how to use it, and select the pricing structure they want for their supporters.
Can I have it?
When Post+ fully launches, it will be available to anyone who wants to use it. Right now, it’s still in its beta phase of testing. We want to ensure that everyone’s Post+ experience is without any hiccups or bugs. We’re working with a small number of creators who are testing it out for us. But! If you want to get notified when more beta testing spaces open up, please sign up here.
Anything else?
If you want to stay up-to-date on all things Post+, give @postplus a follow. It’s where we’re posting FAQs and answering your questions. If you have feedback for us, fill out this survey here. Thanks for your patience, Tumblr.

So what’s this Post+ thing really all about, you ask? Well, we’ve got your answers right here, pal!
*Clinks fork against glass* Alrighty, then. Now that we have your attention, we just want to let you know that you can now support some excellent Tumblr blogs in new and exciting ways. Well, in one new and exciting way, actually. Welcome to Post+. Here’s everything you need to know:
Q: So where do I find these Post+ blogs to support anyway?
A: Great question! Since Post+ is currently in beta mode, the only way you can see Post+ is if you are following a creator who is in our testing group or you see a reblog of some of their content. In the meantime, follow us here on @postplus, as we’ll be highlighting some Post+ creators’ content as it rolls out.
Q: Do I need to be a Tumblr user in order to become a paying Post+ supporter?
A: Yes.
Q: I live outside of the United States. Can I become a Post+ supporter?
A: Yes. There are no geographic restrictions for supporters. No passport required.
Q: Will any of my personal information be shared with the owner of the blog I support?
A: No. Your blog name and any information you share publicly on your blog will be available to the owner of the blog you support because it’s, well, public. But rest assured, no additional personal information will be shared.
Q: Will I be notified of new +posts?
A: Yes. You’ll be the first to know when one of your favorite creators shares something new. When you become a supporter of a blog, you automatically sign up for its push notifications (you can turn these off if you like). In addition, we’ll send you an email when the blog creates a +post.
Q: Can I cancel my subscription?
A: Yes. You must cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before the end of your current subscription period in order to avoid being charged for the next subscription period. You’ll continue to have access to the premium content for the remainder of the subscription period you paid for.
Q: Can I get a refund?
A: Although you can cancel your subscription at any time, we do not offer refunds for subscriptions you already paid for. If you believe there was a problem with a payment for a subscription you initiated on an Apple device, please contact Apple Support. For issues with a subscription you initiated on Android or the Tumblr website, please contact Tumblr Support.

The Deets
I don’t see the option to set up Post+. Why?
Post+ is currently in beta—we’re testing it to make sure we launch the best service possible. We’re rolling it out gradually, and it will be available more widely this fall. If you’re interested in joining the beta test later on, you can sign up here.
Can +posts be reblogged?
You’re damn right +posts can be reblogged! In fact, we encourage it. Each post has a teaser section at the top of the post that is publicly viewable. Any content added to the reblog is also visible publicly.
How should I share my feedback and suggestions for Post+?
We’re so glad you asked. Feel free to fill out this anonymous feedback form or send all of your thoughts, comments, and heartaches here. You can also sign up for updates on Post+ here.
Your feedback is key to making Post+ the best it can be for you, so get in touch with us—early and often!

Hi There 👋
As you might have noticed, we’re beta-testing something new: Tumblr Post+. What’s Post+? A big deal, for starters. Tumblr Post+ is our new subscription tool that allows creators to make some of their posts exclusive to paid subscribers and allows followers to support their favorite creators. It’s an added, optional feature you can take advantage of to empower your favorite artists, fanfic writers, or maybe even that one mashup Supernatural x Studyblr blog you’ve been following since 2016.
(3 a.m. infomercial voice) But wait, there’s more. We want to know every possible way we can make Post+ the best experience for you and your community. To do that, we’d love to hear from you. Specifically, we want your thoughts on how you’d use a tool that allows you to share and subscribe to additional content on your dash. What would you like to see? Don’t be shy. Get in touch. Do it often, if you like. We’re excited to hear your thoughts. If you’re interested in signing up for Post+ when we open it up to more creators, go ahead and fill out this form. And watch this space. Not like, literally. But go ahead now, click follow, and we’ll be back with more info for you very soon). Come be part of our next wave of creators.
